Seal skin was carried in her hands as she emerged again from the water. Hair thrown back throwing drops of salt water from the slick black and gold of her hair. Her hair was like the surface of water, reflecting back shadows and sunlight. Legs were stretched out in the sand as she ran her hand over the now smooth surface of her flesh.

The wound had been bad. Nearly had killed her if not for Mihaela and Buliwyf.

Liquid black eyes squinted up at the sunlight as she smiled a bit to herself with a reflection upon the easily tempered Geri and the kind hearted Viking who had taken it upon himself to be her self proclaimed guardian.

So many would attempt to take the seal skin from the Selkie. Knew the secrets, legends, and lore that surrounded her. Left her ethereal and celestial seeming in that graceful, demure way she always seemed to possess.

She stood then, the slick wet of her flesh glistening in the sunlight. No shame for her naked form though she had stepped from the sand dunes to pluck up the material she finally had chosen as appropriate attire that held a similarity to her seal skin.

It was as white as snow. White as ice and frost... white as... fur. The fur of artic beasts.

Squinting she drew on the dress , hand shading her eyes as she looked down the length of the beach and found the Northern born male in the distance. Watching over her. Ever protective her quiet guardian.

Color painted her cheeks like a sunrise fading to spill red-gold across the water. Wondering just how long he had watched her.

Lilja found she did not mind. His watch of her and protective nature near left her doting on him.

Truth be told her affections were growing each and every day.

A shy smile and she was running on the beach to him. Smiling at the sun and as free as a selkie might be.

Silent as a statue, he watches from a distance as the lovely selkie emerges from the cold waters. Since first seeing her, he had felt that protectiveness, that attachment to her that he could not explain.

And more and more, a growing affection for the girl, something more, much more, than simple protectiveness.

That affection shows in his eyes, if not on his face, as he watches her emerge from the waters, perfectly formed and nude.

Ah, yes, she is reassuringly human in this form, and very lovely to his eyes.

In truth, he had been here, watching, for some time. Long enough to see her go into the waters, to see her swim in the ocean, a lovely sprite of the ocean, wild and free.

It gladdens his heart to see her overcome her initial wariness since her injury. Now, as she spies him, he blushes slightly. He does not look away, however. How could he pretend he was not watching, and that even with more interest than a simple protector.

As she starts running his way, he smiles, thinking to himself of the interesting relationship here. In her other form, she would have been prey rather than friend. As it is, however, he doubts he will ever taste of another seal or any of the same family ever again.

He could not, after her.

As she runs, he begins making his way across the sands towards her, his long stride carrying him nearly as fast as she is running, to meet her halfway.

"Buliwyf."

Her voice gentle music as it embraced her name. Closing distance perhaps her running pace had stilled as she saw him approach. Ink black eyes widened with wonder and left her lips parting in a soft 'o' of startled expression for all of his magnificence.

He was captivating.

Granted he was predator to her kind but he had saved her rather then harming her.

A hand pushed against her slick wet hair, blushing as she found her eyes roaming over his body. Taking him in with eyes that would not become a friend to look upon another friend.

So shy.

Foot rubbed into the sand as she looked down at the soft dress worn. Ivory white and material as soothing as downy fur... fur... like his.

Would he notice the comparison? That she wore his color like he already had claimed her?

That was how she would remain as he approached her. Heart beating wild in her chest, breath caught in her throat and her eyes downcast with that heated blush on her cheeks.

There was so much to say, so much she wanted. Yet she knew not the words or the ways.

The bear can be seen in his pace across the sand - the deceptively lumbering grace with which he walks, not so very different from the great beast stalking prey. Not an intentional thing, but just an unconscious gait he has picked up from spending so much time in that form.

His eyes have never missed the snowy white shade of the fur she wore, so very different from the seal's skin. He can play ignorance and nonchalance to the fact, but the simple fact is that she wears his color, the pure, lovely white that contrasts so beautifully with her near-bronzed skin, the precise shade of his own fur in his ursine form.

He would only admit to her that this simple fact secretly pleases him more than any words that could be uttered between the two of them.

As he comes near, he slows to a halt, just where he would be able to pick her up and into his arms. Shyness, so unlike the outgoing Viking, seems to sweep into his mind and heart like a wave. Her, so very small by comparison, dwarfed by his sheer size. And yet, how much power she has over that massive form...

Just being so close, he longs to kneel and sweep her into his arms, holding her up so that their lips may be on level, to meet.

So many unspoken desires.

The smile that crosses the warrior's face is enough to transform its seriousness and age to something far youger, and for that moment he looks like nothing more than a very big school boy confronted with his first crush. "It is a pleasure to see you again, Lilja."

It was near like being hypnotized to see him in motion. Transfixed and drawn as she found herself smiling at the masculine strength and beauty of his approach.

Wild and amazing. Part of Lilja felt the sensation to run, to take off. The realization of what it was to be in the presence of predator even as they would not treat her as prey.

Dainty and ever slick with the glistening wet of water she felt so fragile in his presence. So utterly breakable.

In awe of him as much as part of her would ever be terrified. The nature and way of the Selkie and yet more and more she found she trusted him.

Cautious and curious her ink black eyes rose to his own as she chewed on the inside of her cheek. Part of her wanted him to be kneeling to be at her level. The other half of her being wished to be taken in his arms and held.

Protective.

Safe.

Secure.

Her self-proclaimed guardian.

That smile of the Viking could melt glaciers. Surely that smile was melting her heart.

She hardly trusted her voice

"It is good to see you now... here... with me. I am happy you are here, Buliwyf."

He's never thought of wishing to be able to read minds. Never wondered what it might be like to hear thoughts, to be able to know another mind. Most of the time, he rather likes the mystery of not knowing. True, all animals have a sense of empathy that is shared between them, but he's hardly the animal now.

And for the first time, he finds himself wishing he had the power to read a mind. To know what is permitted, what is not. Would it be too fast a move to take her in his arms right now, to promise that he will be there with her now and always? To hold her near, to make her feel safe, protected, to make her feel as if she is truly his.

Protector?

Yes.

But so much more as well.

Still, as she tells him she is glad to have him there, he smiles, dropping to a knee so that he doesn't tower over her, bringing himself near to her eye level.

""Where else would I be? If anyone is going to be around to keep you safe, I would like for it to be me."

How easy it would be to reach out and pull her in close! And how tempting.

Restraint is shown in every muscle as he reaches out and takes her hands in his. "I would not have anyone take such a pleasant sight away from my eyes, Lilja."

The ink liquid dark of eyes rested on him as he came down to a knee before her.

The nature, the gesture brought a softness to her eyes.

Fingers reached out and brushed to his face in tender touch.

"You shouldn't come to knees before me. It is not right. Not for me. I appreciate the offer to have us within levels of each other, Buliwyf."

The slick wet sheen of flesh colored in pretty rosen claim across her cheekbones as his words reached her ears. Breath taken in just as he took her hands.

"A protector... forever... I... with you at my side, I feel anything could be done."

A bow of head, gentle murmur then as she closed her eyes in her fragile uncertainty.

"Do not... find yourself ... so discredited. You... captivate me. I am ensnared like my kind have been to you. I could easy become your prey."

Willing the offers, he easily could take her and rend flesh from bone to the sweet red of life, and she would be powerless.
