With a soft, sickening pop the head of Travanix erupted in a shower of stinking, rotting flesh. As the gore began to rain down around him in a fine mist, the rest of his body collapsed to its knees before toppling completely with a loud, wet thud. He paused for a moment, his head cocked to the left slightly as a consternated look spread across his face. ?That was not?quite what I had hoped for. But it will do for now.?

The consternated look was replaced by the normal inquisitive stare as he unfolded his hands from behind his back and moved across the lab to the second corpse, this one being held up by having its arms locked through the bars of the cage it was kept in. A rather fresh body stood before him, just as dead as Travanix though this one had a gaping hole where its chest had been. It would seem that the experiment was a success, if a limited one.

Turning on his heel he moved to his work bench to retrieve his datapad before returning to the two bodies, inspecting them thoroughly with both his eyes and his senses. The totally unnatural aura of ice cold evil he exuded actually caused the rotting flesh to freeze at the edges where its energy had erupted and escaped. This new creature would not be very useful for long term assignments but excellent for quick and dirty jobs. And the best part is that they were totally his to command. Tossing the datapad back onto the work bench he took his seat and smiled into the shadows.

"This is what you've been doing with my corpse?" The black form broke from the shadows within Romax's lab. He moved quietly, arms folded behind him to the dead version of him. He examined it - him - carefully. He could sense something 'off' about the creature.

"Its rather disconcerting to watch, old friend. How long did it live before..."

He stood, returning his gaze to the inquisitor.

?Well what did you expect? At least you leave a corpse, all I leave behind is a steaming pile of goo that?s not even good enough to fertilize a garden.? He watched, lost in thought, as Travanix surveyed his own corpse only truly paying attention again when his friend asked his question. ?The length of time has actually varried from body to body, however it seems that twelve hours is the longest that these creatures will last regardless of what I try.?
Those violently swirling eyes of deep violet blazed brightly for a moment as the thought of failing to extend the life of his creation caused his already fractured mind to slip into a fit of madness that ended just as suddenly as it began. Pulling himself out of his chair, he rose to his full height of six-five and straightened the black leather over his thickly muscled form. Not only taller than Travanix, Romax was built thicker than his friend as well; a heavy-weight prize fighter compaired to Trav?s sleeker, athletic form. Moving to stand next to his partner he frowned down at what was left of the body. ?It would seem that the darker the soul in life the longer the creature will last in death. We?ll need to begin harvesting the worst of Rhydin?s criminal element for more test subjects. They won?t be as useful as I had originally planned them to be, but they will be easy to control and will be able to supliment the mercs well.?

He stood up, listening to Romax go over the status of the project. He nodded as he concluded his findings.

"Very well. You, as always, have the resources you need to begin the work. I will have the funds diverted to your account. Let me know what other equipment or supplies you are going to need in order to get to an operational stand point."

He looked back down at his now rotting corpse. "And if you need any extra test subjects...I am sure there's a prison some where that we can purchase from."
