He stood atop a building in the city. The night was pitch black, and the moon was not out. The chill of the night air was something of a comfort for him. His apprentice was not far from him, watching the horizon as he did. There was a long silence between the two of them.

"You have progressed very well, my apprentice. You have freed yourself from the bonds of your Jedi oppression. You have learned control and rage make an unbeatable weapon. I have an assignment for you, my apprentice. Within the city is a man and his family. Right now, they are deep within the city, enjoying a meal. He is getting to close to my operations on the dock. He doesn't need to see what I'm doing there. I want them killed." He handed over a photo of the man to her.

She simply nodded and took the photo. Her new found strength and power allowed her to jump from rooftop to rooftop. Her speed allowed her to appear only as a blur or afterthought.

What he neglected to mention was this official was somewhat security minded and had many different layers of defense. Including mages and psychics.

She moved as the assassin she was becoming. It didn't take her long to find the party.

Or his security staff.

She realized there were several obsticals that he expected her to overcome and adapt. She settled herself a moment and began to meditate quickly. She allowed the Force to flow through her and showed her many paths and options.

And the two homeless bums in the alley were the perfect distraction. Through the darkside, she began to insite a fight, and then a riot between them, causing it to spill out in to the street before the line of defense.

Security moved quickly allowing her to move in closer to the building unseen and un detected.

As she did witht he slave girl, she reached out through the Force and began to crush the man's heart. Feeling the last beat. She could hear screams building inside as people shouted for the medics.

For her simple joy, she began executing memebers of the family. Before she could get through them all, she sensed she was about to be discovered and moved quickly, leaving the rest alone.

And into the night she was gone.

A delighted smirk pulling upon her lips.

Katerrina wasted no time in finding where the man was dining with his family. She was one with the shadows. All her training came down to this moment. This test.

She approached the building with caution. The Force showed her the man's defenses, both physical and not. Every option appeared in her mind's eye as she opened herself to the Force. She analyzed and planned carefully. All in a heartbeat.

She was aware of the bums. It was nothing to increase the frustration inside them to rage. It took hardly any effort to make them fight, brawling loud enough to attract the attention of the man's guards. One stayed behind as the others moved to break up the fight.

Katerrina reached out within the Force to find a weakness in the anti-magical shield she had detected. It was like tearing a curtain in her mind's eye. She moved in as she broke the last defense. Deep in shadow, she felt for the man's life. His heart. Her left hand squeezed tighter.

The Force surged through her as she squeezed. She felt his heart stutter. The screams flowed around her. She felt her eyes heat as the power increased. The rush came over her as she felt the last beat, then nothing. Power. She had power beyond anything she ever dreamed. Power she turned on the woman she felt next to the man, squeezing her heart. Power turned on the other forms nearby. Their hearts were held, squeezed, nearly crushed.

Until she felt a disturbance. One of the guards must be a psychic. She felt when he reached out for where she had penetrated the shield. Before he registered what happened, Katerrina was gone. She was one with the shadows on the rooftop and miles away.

A darker shadow peeled off. Katerrina stopped as it did, and gave a bow.

"It's done Master Travanix."

He watched the girl bow.

"It's done Master Travanix."

He closed his eyes, his own senses reaching out to feel the chaos she had indeed caused.

"Well done, apprentice." He said as he opened his eyes. "Your progress has been remarkable, and complete. The darkness flows through you like water."

He stepped towards her. "Do you remember when we first met, that you had not yet earned the right for your name to be spoken by me?"

Katerrina still felt the power running through her. Her eyes had a reddish cast to the usual blue-grey. Her Master's approval added to the rush.

She looked up at Master Travanix as he stepped closer. A slow nod given in reply.

"I remember. You've never asked my name."

He smirked darkly, one hand reaching out to rest upon her shoulder gently. "Tell me, my apprentice: What is your name?"

There was a darkness that seemed to come with the words. It almost ravaged her body right then and there.

The darkness mingled with the chill. The rush lingered longer than it had with the slave girl. A strange thrill clenched inside her at the touch of her shoulder.

"Tell me, my apprentice: What is your name?"

She spoke quietly. The significance of the moment was not lost on her.

"Katerrina. Katerrina Hess."
