He had sat behind his office desk in the tower for a few hours going over reports and contracts that have been recently negotiated. As he was completing his work, he set several of the data pads on the desk and pulled the top latch of his tunic open. He spun the chair around to the other side of the desk. Now facing a large wall of books and displays, he tapped his chin lightly as eyes moved from display to display. He leaned back in the chair, as he continued to watch the events on the displays play out.

Katerrina would be soon arriving. She had taken well to the lessons in combat and power. Her display at the docks was without question - remarkable.

But further training was needed.

Katerrina finished her morning training. The latest batch of assassin droids had pushed her. She constantly had to think three attacks ahead in order to not get beaten to a pulp. She entered the Tower with barely a scratch. The droids were in pieces. Her hair was a sweaty tangle of curls. Grime streaked her arms and bare stomach.

Master Travanix had instructed her to come see him in his office after her training session. She'd never been in his office. After asking one of the girls for directions, Katerrina knocked on the imposing door.

"Master Travanix? You wanted to see me?"

On the monitors infront of him were the replays of her combat training in recent days. Her attacks were smoother, her rage evident, but not leading the attack - but powering it. "Your training continues to improve. Even now, I can sense the rage and anger that feeds your power. Impressive, my young apprentice. Very impressive." There was a pause as in the video display she was executing Force lightning in one hand, and the other weilding her blade to destroy the droids he programmed for her.

"However, there is one aspect of your training that is time to begin." He turned to face her, that dark chill washing over her as the dark eyes focused on her. "You are a weapon of incredible power, but you are not refined. I see you still slouch slightly. You hesitate in your speech at times." He shook his head. "I need something more from you, my sweet." He stood, the chair rocked a bit as it came back. His arms folded behind him as he moved around his desk.

Katerrina hadn't felt chilled in his presence in some time. Gooseflesh prickled her bare arms as Master Travanix came around his desk. His praise was so rarely given. The words brought back the unfamiliar ache, which she dismissed as he continued to speak. She stood inside the doorway, standing her ground as Master Travanix came closer. Her shoulders were rolled down, her feet spread in an attack stance.

"I've gotten rid of all my old ways. There's nothing more to unlearn."

She didn't blink as his eyes bored into hers.

He reached up, caressing her cheek gently. She had seen him do it so many times when talking with the slaves, rarely did he perform such action to her. A dark smirk formed on his lips. "I am aware of what you have unlearned, and relearned in some cases." He withdrew his hand from her cheek and folded it behind him.

"What you are lacking is poise and posture. Refinement of attitude, not of form. What you are lacking, is nobility."

He turned from her, heading back to his desk. The displays continued to replay her combat training. The videos displayed her growing brutality and finess in killing and destruction.

"If you are going to aid me, you need to learn what it means to be a lady, not just an assassin."

Expect the unexpected, how many times had that lesson been driven home? The caress of her cheek wasn't what Katerrina expected. It sent chills through her. His touch was rarer than his praise.

Then it was withdrawn. Katerrina stepped forward to see the screens. Each one showed a different training session. Showed how she had progressed from a Jedi into a killing machine. Katerrina struggled to grasp what Master Travanix meant. What did poise and posture have to do with crushing organs and stopping hearts? She thought of the so-called ladies she'd seen during her recent Inn visits.

"How will my acting like a brainless twit help you? I could break those women in half without breaking a sweat."

Her question caused him to chuckle darkly. "The art of nobility allows a true assassin to get into those places that raw brutality would cause more of a stir than may be needed. It is a form of steath and an art of disguise."

He turned to her, the monitors still playing behind him. "Becoming a noble means that you have more access to tools and skills that will allow you to represent my operations more fully."

He turned back to the monitors. "A fine edged weapon can cut so easily and kill so quickly, that few would notice it. Where as, a brutal beating attracts more attention that is wanted when silence is more desired."

He turned back to her, moving again towards her. He was but a few inches from her body. "I assure you, my young apprentice, through the skills gained through nobility, you will have greater access and steath then you thought possible."

Katerrina thought as Master Travanix spoke. She thought over her first kill, how the man's shields almost kept her out. She thought about the panic and mayhem she'd caused along the docks, and the unwanted attention she'd drawn. A new way to wreak havoc, a better way. It couldn't be that difficult to act the part of a noble. Could it?

The chill from him broke Katerrina's train of thought. He hadn't drawn this close to her in a long time. Not since she first strode into his business. Not since he began her training. She held her ground, her stormcloud eyes locked on his. The tremor in her voice was the only hint that his closeness had any effect on her.

"I'll learn everything you want to teach, Master Travanix. You'll see."

She had grown stronger, braver. It was interesting to watch her transform. It was only around him was she hesitant or unsure, but only in her voice. He smirked lightly. "I know you will, my apprentice." He began walking around her, eyes examining her body. The combat training had toned her more, pushing her physically rather than mentally as the Order had done.

"I want you to walk taller, hold your head up." He reached around, that unnatural chill of his flesh touching her chin and cheek a bit as he addjusted her head so it was level. "You look down on others, do not have others look down on you. Meet their eyes every time."

The hand on her shoulder would allow the chill to pierce her training uniform and soak into her flesh as the other hand pressed on the small of her back, causing her chest to thrust out lightly. "Be not afraid of to show what you are - a woman of elegance."

He moved back around, standing in front of her, his arms folding behind him again. "In our business, apperance is everything." He spoke quietly. "Language is also important. Clear pronunciation, direct dialog. Your words can be as dangerous as your weapon. Think clearly always, and pay attention to those conversations around you."

The constant training had filled out her body and toned her muscles. Katerrina was sleek under the unitard. And unaware of the effect that sleekness had that was unrelated to combat.

Katerrina didn't flinch when Master Travanix touched her chin to raise her head. She was used to meeting the eyes of others. She wasn't one to cow to anyone. So far this was easy.

She fought to restrain a shiver when both his hands touched her, the hand on her back having an effect on her she didn't understand. Katerrina resisted at first. No member of the Order flaunted gender. Not like this. His hand was like iron as he adjusted her posture, not letting her spine roll. Her cheeks burned. She was starting to wish for a swarm of probe droids to fight. This was not so easy.

Katerrina listened as Master Travanix stepped back in front of her. Clear and precise language were also taught by the Order. A frown formed on her lips as she kept her posture as he'd placed it.

"I have to pay attention to all the drivel and nonsense?"

LordTravanix

He chuckled once more at her statement. "Yes, you are going to have to listen. Not only that, but you are going to have to have conversation with them - that means repeating similar drival. However, my young apprentice. When people are at their most calm, they are sometimes also at the weakest. They let down thier guard and offer information to you that may not be so trivial."

He began walking around her again. Both hands fell on her shoulders, pulling them back and straightening them. He nudged her feet with his boots to bring her feet in closer. "You cannot simply look the part of a noble, for anyone can do that. It is all in the attitude and presentation that will allow others to think of you as more. Nobility isn't in the blood, is in the mind."

He walked back in front of her, fingers going through her hair. The chill of his fingertips washing over her lightly as he stroked her. "Being noble means knowing everyone is beneath you, and there are few equals."

Katerrina Hess

Katerrina frowned. She had never been known for being tolerant or patient. The thought of having to repeat what she heard other beings in the Inn say make her stomach lurch. She paid close attention to Master Travanix as he spoke of learning weaknesses and secrets. Secrets led to power.

Gooseflesh prickled once more where his hands touched her shoulders. The alignment had her chest out more than ever. And Katerrina's cheeks flamed. She listened as Master Travanix adjusted her stance. She stood tall for her 5-foot frame. She understood the concept of nobility. It was the practical application that she found difficult.

Her stomach lurched again when his fingers worked through her curls. She'd seen him touch his girls like this, but he'd never touched her hair before. Her voice trembled.

"So far I haven't seen any equals."

LordTravanix

Date: 2007-12-28 01:49 EST
"For us, there are few...equals. Regardless, if you treat the lessers as equals, the odds improve in retreiving information that would be of vital nature later on."

He did slight adjustments, mixing her body posture with a combination of nobility and military stance. "All things come with time and patience. Hunting is not simply killing, but learning the ways and habits of your prey."

He walked around her again. "Stealth is everything, blending in can be a great weapon. You can blend in with lessers. You need to learn to blend with those that are of station."

He stopped, and moved towards his desk, still watching the replays of her training. "Go into town, and purchse fine gowns and items of high quality. Use my credit within the city. I want you looking like a noble by the end of the day. No weapons, no belts. No more training."

He turned to her.

"It is time to act."

Katerrina Hess

Katerrina nodded, the movement slight as Master Travanix adjusted her posture once again. She had greatly improved her ability to blend into the shadows, into the fog. Blending in with a crowd sounded easy. She stood tall. She stood as a woman of station should. The dirt on her arms and the grime on her bare stomach didn't take away from the image of nobility her posture gave.

His work was nearly undone when Katerrina heard his instructions. She'd never worn a gown, let alone all the pieces and parts that went along with gowns. Her hand curled around her saber hilt. The idea of going anywhere without it was beyond her understanding. The belt she could almost do without. The lightsaber hadn't left her side in almost ten years. She slept with it. How could she work without it?

"Can't the tailors make a pocket or something?"

LordTravanix

Date: 2007-12-28 02:26 EST
He arched a brow before he responded. "I do not recall taking options from the floor, my dear."

He moved towards her again. "I have taught you how to strike with and without the blade. You should be able to put it to the side once in a while."

He turned back to the monitors. "Or was the order right, and you not strong enough?"

He knew what buttons to push, he had seen her fight, seen her become what she is now. He knew she would not back down from this challenge.

"Your greatest weapon is your mind, not your blade."

Katerrina Hess

Her cheeks burned. He knew exactly what to say to get the correct response from her. Master Travanix knew Katerrina better than the Order ever did. Her stormcloud eyes focused on him as she stood exactly as he had shown her.

"I'll find everything needed to look like a lady of station. I'll be back before nightfall."

Katerrina unhooked her lightsaber and set it on his desk. She knew if she carried it with her while shopping, she would want it sewn into the dresses. She bowed and turned to leave the office.
