Topic: The Exercise

It was late afternoon. Katerrina was in the middle of a difficult training exercise. She was blindfolded, her lightsaber humming as she moved. Six probe droids hovered around her. They were programmed to move at maximum speed. The bolts they fired were deadly.

She blocked one bolt as it headed for her, sending it to ricochet into the probe droid that shot it. A second droid was cut in half on the follow through. She raised her blade up, and another bolt bounced into the wall. The blast and smoke didn't distract her. A third droid was smashed before it could get off a shot. A fourth exploded when its own deadly bolt went clean through it. Two left.

The droids moved silently. Katerrina heard only the hum of her lightsaber and the pounding of her heart. She leaped, doing a flip as a bolt put a hole in the floor where she'd been standing. Her blade flashed and it was reduced to a pile of slag. One to go.

Katerrina breathed fast, but not hard. She felt the Force move through her, aggressive and strong. The bolts came in rapid-fire. She deflected each one. The walls were riddled with burned holes. She made a sudden leap with her blade raised high, and brought it down with all her strength. The last droid exploded.

Katerrina quickly snapped back into a ready stance. She had programmed six droids. Destroying them all didn't mean the exercise was over. It usually meant it had just begun.

He watched her movements as she practiced. The blade hummed in the air quickly, with deadly precision. He sensed the power growing with in her, with each strike she became more leathal: No mercy. Had the droids been flesh and blood, would she enjoy it more?

He stepped silently through the arena as the first droid dropped, then the second. The blaster bolts were dead on target, if the target would stand still long enough. Her body was fluid through her previous training, but the power behind it was what he had shown her. The third droid dropped, as he continued to move around the arena smoothly. His arms folded behind him.

As the last of the droids finally dropped, he approached her from behind, placing his hand upon her shoulder, the other hand was placed upon her elbow of her saber hand. "Your strikes continue to improve in strength and precision." He adjusted her arm slightly to show a more proper defensive stance that can quickly become aggressive. "Your body moves like fluid." The hand upon her shoulder moved down, tracing her spine slowly.

He leaned in slightly to her right side of her head. The whispered words were as chilled as the air that was ever presant around him. "No mercy, there is no such thing as defenseless, my young apprentice. The dark side flows through you more easily now than it has before..."

His hands moved up her body, smoothing out the training unitard, before resting on her shoulders. "I am very pleased."

The last time Katerrina did this exercise, Master Travanix launched a surprise wave of assassin droids at her. Twelve of them, before coming at her personally. It took a week to fully recover the use of her saber arm.

She felt her Master's presence through the Force. Her blindfold was still in place, but she could see him in her mind's eye. The touch on her shoulder and the adjustment of her blade arm were not unusual. He made corrections to her stances often, tightening them up for maximum effect. The touch down her spine was unusual. It brought back the clenching in her gut she still didn't understand.

The chill penetrated her training unitard, making her shiver as his hands smoothed the fabric over her sides and back. His rare praise brought a smile to her lips.

"Thank you Master. Are there any areas that need improvement?"

His hand moved down the length of both arms, tracing the muscles with the fingers. "There is always room for improvement, my apprentice."

He moved around her body, facing in front of her. "You need to mix up your attacks, creating yourself to be more and more of a weapon." He relieved her of her saber, shutting it down and placing it upon her belt. "You need not rely on only the Force or your saber, but your mind and your body." He pushed her arms down until she allowed them to relax at her side.

"The Force is a weapon at your command, your body responds to your mind. In the end, it is onlyour mind that must be mastered." The fingertip rolls across her forehead. "Your mind cannot be taken from you when you are captured. Through all things, your mind obtains perfection."

Katerrina felt gooseflesh rise on her bare arms along the path of his fingers. She felt her lightsaber tugged from her hand, heard the hum silenced, felt her belt tugged when he replaced her lightsaber in its spot. Her arms went to her sides where Master Travanix placed them. Her palms felt hot. Her stomach felt tight.

She listened as he instructed. Her body was toned and sleek. Her speed was unmatched. Her mind was sharp, but there was much she didn't understand.

Katerrina swallowed the lump in her throat as his finger ran across her sweaty forehead. Her mind was usually neat and ordered. His touch made it all confused.

"Are there exercises and training that I've been neglecting, Master? I want that perfection."

"Perfection...," he started out "Is a the complete harmony that comes from the mind and body working in unison." He stepped back, his form falling into a combat position. His body began to flow easily, fluid for muscles, and the wind as its guide. "It comes from the mind teaching the body how to react and then allowing it to react."

He struck out, a punch flew towards her, but stopping but a hair's width from connecting with her, but then began to flow once again, his motion picking up to the point he moved around her, closing his eyes. The Force was with him, but it was not guiding him around her as he moved. "Such perfection comes from time and practice. Patience is key to it."

Another blow comes towards her, again, not connecting. He is demonstrating to her his his mind has obtained what she seeks. "The Force is a weapon, as is your body." He repeated. "Mastering both in combat and in peace." He was coming around to the front of her again before he stopped suddenly, and took a step towards her. His entire body was pressed gently against hers, the strands of wind and air passing between the two as they barely touched. His eyes finally opened, looking down at her.

"Instinct plays a part on the road to perfection." He quietly said. "Your body will respond to that instinct, once the mind teaches it." His hands reach up again to her shoulders, allowing his fingers to trace down the muscle lines in her arms before reaching her wrists.

Katerrina's blindfold still covered her eyes, but she could see her Master clearly in the Force. He was strong in it. Stronger than any of the Masters on Ossus. She felt his movements, felt when he went into a combat stance. Patience was not one of her strengths. But she had been working on it.

She did not flinch when his fist came within a micrometer of her jaw. Katerrina felt the command Master Travanix had over his body. How precisely he could move. If he wanted he could've broken her jaw. Or her neck with the second aborted strike.

Katerrina almost flinched when he stepped into her. He'd never stood this close to her before. Her stomach filled with knots. Her throat choked up. Gooseflesh raised where he traced her arms. Her breathing was once again fast. Katerrina couldn't see Master Travanix. But she could feel him. She got a whisper out as he caught her wrists.

"Is this, instinct?"

"Instinct is that which causes you to move without thought, without response. The instinct to guard when a blow is coming towards you when you see it in your side vision." He moved her right hand into the defensive posture as he instructed her. The bottom of her hand pressed against the uniform tunic, the chill of his flesh escaping from the confines of his body. The same chill that comes from his fingers wrapped around her wrist.

"Instinct is knowing to hold your breath when you dive into water." He relaxed her hand once more, placing it to the side of her. "Instinct teaches us to fear. It is the mind that teaches us that there is no fear."

He released her wrists and moved around her to her back once more. His hands reached up, taking hold of her shoulders, massaging them gently. "Instinct allows the body to respond what it means to naturally move and respond to the environment." He leaned closer, kissed the back of her ear gently. "Instinct can be as powerful as a blade and more deadly than spice."

Katerrina understood instinct. Master Travanix made sure she was able to counter any strike that might come her way, using blindfold drills to sharpen her instincts. She was able to eliminate any threat she knew was coming. The direction of this exercise was unknown to her.

The chill ran through her arms. She'd never touched him for any length of time. The glancing blow she occasionally landed didn't have the effect it had now. Katerrina shivered when he let go of her wrists. She still wore the blindfold from the exercise, so she couldn't see where he went.

His touch on her shoulders told her he was behind her again. Why wasn't he striking at her? Testing her skills like he usually did? Katerrina nodded her agreement with Master Travanix. Her voice wasn't working right. She felt him lean into her, and she tensed up to deflect the strike she thought was coming. The kiss to her ear, right where the scar began, was not what she thought was coming. The tight clenching in her gut worsened, and the only comment she could make to her Master's words was a small gasp. Her instincts were all over the place. She had no idea what to expect next.

Her silence was interesting prompting the dark form to probe her mind which was interestlingly exposed, and raw. He closed his eyes, smiling darkly as he felt the raw passion and lust that had built up in the girl. He dragged his touch down her back, tracing her spine until he reached the small of her back to verify that was indeed what he was sensing. Of course, the Jedi taught her nothing of this, but that it was emotion that should be controled.

He turned her around slowly. "I sense an imbalance in you, my apprentice. Something you are unsure about, something that you have felt before but are confused about." The right hand reached up to remove her blindfold, tossing it upon the ground. His own eyes opened, finding her eyes quickly.

"You are feeling the fledgling of passion and lust, my apprentice. The instinct of man and woman. One that can pose the greatest danger to a Jedi." He caressed her cheek gently. "For us, it is so much more. It can focus our strength, build our power. Through other emotions such as rage and anger it gives us cause."

He rested his palm gently upon her cheek before he spoke again. "Tell me, my apprentice, what is it that you feel?"

The chill touch down her spine made her gasp. Katerrina knew every counter to every strike from every direction. This strike had no counter. She felt her body shake, and she didn't know why.

She blinked as the blindfold was removed, staring into his auburn eyes as she was brought to face him. Lust, passion, was that what she felt? Katerrina had no clue, for the Masters did not think to teach her about them. She had avoided attachments, kept herself apart and above the other Learners. She hadn't even bonded with her old Master as well as she could have. It seemed unnecessary to tell her about lusts and passions because she kept her emotions so controlled. Master Travanix undid years of control with one touch to her cheek.

Katerrina took a shaky breath. Master Travanix's hand on her cheek meant she couldn't look away from his eyes, so he saw every bit of raw emotion she tried to hide. "I feel tightness and aches not related to my exercises, and I can't make sense of it. I don't know what to make of these feelings. I thought they led straight into attachments, and it was always clear that while they weren't forbidden this time around, attachments still weren't encouraged."

"Attachments, hmm? An interesting understanding of it, my apprentice. You have seen me with my girls...They are not attachments, they are," he paused for a moment, while he smirked. "Fun." He continued to caress her body gently. The chill in the air that surrounded him became more active, as it pierced her clothing then her flesh, caressing her nerves and body like a long lost lover.

Slowly, he had been backing her against the wall leading her to eventually be pinned. The distraction of her wide ranging emotions caused her body to respond more than her mind. There would be a point in time when his apprentice would be wise to what had happened, once her back was against the wall. He himself was pressed against her, holding her in position. "Much like anything else, lust and attraction can be used as a weapon to get what you want, my apprentice." He said quietly, his eyes not leaving hers, they had begun to pierce, hunting through her mind and body, leaving its trademark chill across her body.

"Let go of the control."

Katerrina shivered and trembled as Master Travanix caressed her where her skin was bare. She'd seen him with his girls at the Chainned Inn many times. She remembered Romax and all his debauchery. Neither looked very attached, not in the way the Masters warned about.

She gasped when she felt her back hit the wall. He moved her, and she didn't notice. And now he had her pinned. Again, he caught her with the unexpected. Her stormcloud eyes were locked to his. Katerrina couldn't look away, even when he saw everything she usually kept hidden. Her whole body shook against his.

"I.. I don't know how to let go."

LordTravanix

"You do not know how to release, but you do." He leaned in close to her once more, his lips very close to her ear, his torso pressed against hers. "Instinct is natural as breathing at times." He whispered into her ear, before he kissed her ear gently. He pulled himself back, looking into her eyes.

"You simply need to listen to what your body wants. If you listen carefully, you will hear the details, the expression of those emotions you were foolishly taught to withhold." He caressed her flesh once more, while his other hand subtly released the catch for her utility belt, letting it drop like a weight in the ocean.

"Tell me, my apprentice..." He started, as a single finger drifted upwards from her belly up. "What is it that prevents you from releasing your control?"

He didn't wait for an answer as he moved in, issing her lips forcefully.

Master Travanix said to listen to what her body wanted. Katerrina's body was overloaded with signals, feelings she denied herself her entire life. Her entire body clenched when he kissed her ear.

Her belt crashed to the floor. Her lightsaber rolled away. And for the first time since her early Acadamy days, Katerrina didn't care. She watched his finger slide up her belly, over her bare skin. His eyes bored into hers.

She opened her mouth to answer his question, and her reply was lost when he claimed her first kiss for himself. Her instincts showed her what to do as she let her body teach her mind.
