It's late in the afternoon and we find Brian Ravenlock at the end of a pier, looking over the water.
One silently approaches him, the sound of men at work and the crying of the seagulls their only backdrop... well, then again, actually, there is a certain construction going on where a warehouse used to be, some distance down the pier. "Reflecting?" She mused as she paused behind him, adorned in a thick wolven fur coat.
He chuckled softly, "Not really, more like looking into a few things.. well that and there's a killer fish n' chips stand not too far away." He glanced back to her with a nod, moving aside to allow her some space next to him, "I also like the way the water looks this time of day... but that's a closely guarded secret."
One smirked as she stood beside him, her hands firmly resting on her stomach as she spoke. "I hope it is nothing to serious?" She kept her ideas about his liking the water to herself. It did make her chuckle though. "Can't say I like the stench of fish. But I have to bear with it."
"Heh, yeah we could do without that stench." He nodded to her, flashing a smile. "And nothing too serious far, actually it's a bit of a follow up to some bodies that ended up here last year. Munched on real good, no less. Personally I thought a dragon, or wyvern might have been involved-- but that was tossed aside by the local Watch, here. So every now and then, I check back."
He added, "And someone's been seen chucking rocks at mermaids during the evening--- as pathetically ridiculous as that may sound. He quieted once more.
"You are not half wrong," One muttered as she kept her eyes locked upon the water. She recalled her daughter's memories to play out before her eyes, turning to glance back towards the other end of the pier. "Isuelt and Rosa were attacked here by what appeared to be one very pissed off dragon some months ago." She paused, chuckling at the added part. "How lovely. If I see anyone throwing rocks at them I'll personally throw them into the ocean for you."
"Hmm, I wonder how that had a lid kept on it for so long... Well, at least it's a piece of the puzzle, so to speak. That's good. Actually... if you really do see someone here, I mean-- well the rock chuckers... And it's a male, do me a favor if you can, please. Just tell me if you 'feel' something from him. I mean something along the lines of you, I, Rosa-- you know? That would be very helpful."
That got a glance. "I will do that, my dearest Killer, just for you." She left it at that. She had her suspicions after a comment like that but left it. Brian would tell her in due time.
She tilted a brow, next. "How many attacks have there been on the Mayor, the council; the meetings over the years involving ex-sanguination via vampirism?"
"Thank you, I mean that..." He looked to the water a moment and then back to her once more, "I know it's strange to ask such a thing, I can tell from that glance of yours, so here it is... I believe it's Rav--- Jacyn. He's not Raven anymore, I know that... I-- we all took care of that-- but, I really think it's him, that he never crossed the veil back when those who had passed began to return about two years ago. He-- the person looks like he looked before-- well before the Gauntlet. I saw him in the duels briefly with someone else, a small woman--- off worlder I believe. I was told his name was 'Jay', and he
worked out here. But I've not found him, so-- if you see him, please just gauge him for me... Because as it stands, I am fairly useless for that presently."
Her question caused him to raise a brow as well, "Attac--- I don't believe there has ever been one like that, per se'. Helston had no attacks, Nor Matt, or Driscol... Fiona had threats, loads of them. The worst being Raven. Rekah was clean as well in her term, but--- it's strange you ask that, because we have had a rash of attacks involving what looks to be that very mode, the victims have been locals though."
As she suspected. She listened for the most part, nodding her head where she felt appropriate. "I will do that, Brian. I shall have my eyes and ears in the city keep a watch out for his appearance. However, if he does frequent the Docks, I am sure to run into him. I am building a facility just over there." She indicated with a hand towards the noise of construction. "Would it be possible I could get my hands on the reports of each victim?" She knew she was asking something heavy, considering she
is not well liked by the Watch... or most people, for that matter. "I take it you heard the clock tower incident last night, and the corpse thrown at the council meeting?"
"Thank you, dear. I really appreciate that, and consider the reports yours. I'll make sure you have everything you need." His eyes followed her direction, as he nodded softly, making note of the location. "I heard about the corpse, but got very little in the way of the clock tower, truth be told."
"Ebon dragged my ^&% out of the rubble, not that I needed his help." One turned on the spot, facing the direction she came. "It was foolish of me to pursue the vampire, but, I managed to put a face to your elusive killer. She was very pretty, I must say. Quite strong in her magical abilities too. If I was not pregnant I would had pursued her until she was writhing within my grasp... but, I am sure I am going to get quite the concerned talking to by the father for even sticking my neck out helping this wretched city in the first place." She mused. "Send the files to the Gigantea. Rosa will know
what to do with them."
"A female? Damn... Well that would explain a few things, such as why there was no fight put up by any victims. If you have a face, then we have a start. Maybe we can finally put her down, or drive her out-- whichever. I'm glad you came through unharmed, really." Then that brow raised once more, "Pregnant? Father?"
"I am surprised you have not heard." She tapped the small bump on her stomach. "Not noticeable right now, but it soon will be... but in regards to the vampire, if you do not mind, I would much rather keep her appearance to myself for the time being. I have my suspicions, but I feel I have smelt her somewhere before. I will conduct my own investigation for the mean time. I will give you everything I have collected after then."
"I have no problem with that, but for the sake of covering our asses... I 'd like permission to draw up a document that would give you a 'contracted' status with us, allowing you to come and go as you see fit and have carte blanche per se', but if you get in a bind or need some more information and or documents, it'll take care of that for you, and also leave you unhindered to do what you need to do."
"Contracted? I think it is best if we keep my involve off the books. I am not exactly trusted in any official capacity, now am I?" She cast Brian a smile. "In regards to the father? You know him well enough."
One took off, walking from Brian. "I am sorry to part my dear, but I have to prepare myself for tonight's hopefully uneventful party. I have a certain playboy in mind I want to be ready for. I also have to construct his gift. Unfortunately, it isn't a bomb, as much as it pains me to say that.
"Between you and I, you do whatever you need to do. I won't ask, or tell or what have you-- when it comes to this vampire. Share what you want to share when you need to, I'm good with that. I just want to make sure you don't get bogged down by any of the local watch---? That answer of hers, registered finally. ?I understand. You take care."
He wouldn't press the issue at all, he'd just hoped what he suggested would have made things a little easier for her-- but he knew how she felt, as he'd done the same thing numerous times before.
"She cast a wink over her shoulder, kissing the air as she did so. "See you around, my little Killer. If I find anything, I will come straight to you."
"Shadows Keep You, my Black Heart."
