As morning reared itself to the land of Rhydin...all seemed well in the world. A yawning sun was peering through the clouds and the peaceful sound of serenity was abundant.

Yet again.....something was out of place here. Near the doorway to the beautifully constructed villa of one Jewell Ravenlock, there rested a lovely little package.

The wrapping was quite similar to another lone gift left in the Marketplace, which was addressed to one Lord Brian Ravenlock.

This box, a muted ivory color, was also prepared nicely with a tight crimson bow. A small, folded card was attached to the box with simple ribbon. Scrawled in green ink, with an unsteady hand, it read: ?To Lady Jewell Ravenlock, a close and esteemed friend of the Scathachian Nation?

Jewell was up fairly early, despite the long nights she had been keeping. Sleep eluded her when she was alone and even more so when she was worrying her mind into insanity.

She didn't even have a chance to gear up for the day, in familiar and worn-in black leathers, when there was a knock on her door. One of the few servants she kept about peeked her head in when called out to do so, "Miss Jewell, I've got a package for you here. It was waiting outside the door this morning."

She moved over from her vanity, where she had been tying her hair back in a thick braid, to take the beautiful package from her. She would deny vehemently that she got a little thrill of excitement in seeing the package, thinking maybe it was from...

But no. The card made it clear it was not from who she had hoped. Rather, it was anonymous and the address made her frown. She waved the servant off as she took the package to her vanity to open. The card made her very uneasy and she was careful in unwrapping the package, uncertain as to what she would find inside.

As Jewell opened the esoteric gift, her delicate fingers pulled at the ribbon and it gave way easily. Removing the lid of the box, she could see that lying across a lush bed of crimson material, was a single purple iris. Beneath the flower, as she removed it, was a neatly folded piece of deep red silk?.......within the silk's gentle wrapping was certainly an object which seemed to have some heft to it as it was touched. As the creases of the fine silk were drawn back, the contents of the box were revealed in all of its gruesome glory.

A severed penis was lying in the middle of the smooth, soft material. Spotted with droplets of dried blood and erroneous strips of torn flesh, the piece of mutilated skin appeared to have been harshly carved off at its union with the pelvis?..so the plump scrotum was still intact.

A small card had been carefully pinned to the severed penis. In the same shaky handwriting, which was also on the box's greeting card, there was a cold inscription in bold, green ink. The ill-omened content read as follows:

Empress Jewell?..
Your immodest pastime misses you so?.......
???perhaps this may aid you in your endeavors of carnal pleasure.

Keep your warm, supple body within the safety of your villa?close thine eyes and enjoy your own sweet surrender???use my generous gift of fresh flesh to tame your wet hunger??at least you will not have to fear of it providing you with yet another open mouth to feed.

Take heed of my good advice, Empress, for if I see you out in the city streets??playing in the darkness of my domain?..acting the role of Scathachian Judge.?casting the arcane arts of old..........I will be forced to bend you deeply, my love, and remind you of your place in this life.....as a wanton harlot of the mighty........while your bloody throat soaks my lips.

I will be watching??..

Opening the box to reveal the purple iris made her smile a little and put her at some ease. Perhaps this was a nice present from a secret admirer, and those were always appreciated. She placed the flower aside gently on her vanity, to put in water later, before lifting the crimson silk that contained the main contents of the package.

As the folds of silk fell away, Jewell stared in horror for a moment at what was revealed. Her mouth fell open to let out a high-pitched scream of surprise and revulsion. She threw the gruesome "present" back to the box as she moved backwards to get away from it. Unfortunately, the rules of gravity apply even to Faeries when they aren't paying attention and their vanity stool is right behind them. She hit the stool and, unable to right herself in time, fell over it onto the floor.

Once on the floor she continued to move backwards, trying to put as much distance between herself and the vanity. She only stopped when there was a good couple of feet between them. She sat there, fingers digging into her carpet as her heart raced and air was sucked in raggedly, her eyes fixated on the box.

Knocking on her door broke her from her trance and made her jump, in a blind panic, to her feet. At least she managed not to scream.

The knocking came again, "Miss Jewell, are you all right? I thought I heard a scream and something hit the ground."

She stared at the door in silence, her mouth still gaping open. The knocking came a third time, "Miss Jewell, if you don't say something I'm gonna have to come in."

That could absolutely not happen, her mind screamed at her. "I'm...I'm fine!" She croaked out, not sounding the least bit "fine." "I just fell, is all...over my own two feet."

She could almost feel the confusion and disbelief coming through the door but with an "all right" the girl moved away back down the hall and it was just Jewell and the package once more.

It took her a few minutes of deliberating before she could actually get up the nerve to approach her vanity. She needed to read that note. Shaky hands reached out for it and disengaged it from its...member. She couldn't contain her shudder as her fingers accidentally brushed against the dead man's flesh.

When she finished reading the note she did the only thing that was sensible at the time. She dropped it and ran into the bathroom where her stomach forcibly tried to empty itself of the food it didn't contain, tears coursing down her cheeks the entire time.
