Dracina Hemdagg peered at the constellation with a faint frown. Stooped over a telescope in her manor's observatory with a star journal nearby, taking notes, the vampiress' work was... distracted. More specifically, her thoughts were. Taking a step back and smoothing out her short, black dress, she mulled over what was troubling her.

The stars foretold complications in the present and the near future and undoubtedly that had caused her thoughts to wander the way that they had. The most recent complication had been the rival Archmage in the tavern that had made off with the compass she had tried to seize for the Fangs of Bhaal. It may have been the very Compass of Scathach that they were searching for that would lead directly toward that island the Scathachians kept hid so well and the mere fact that she had left that establishment empty-handed infuriated her. Her attempts to scry its present location also faced complications.

Of course any Archmage worth her salt?or in this case, his?would have placed wards that blocked divination spells in her stronghold, she thought with bitter frustration. I do no differently.

Still, there had to be ways to obtain it. She merely had to devise a means to do so. Unfortunately time might not be on their side. The rest of the Fangs had been quiet as of late, so seeking their assistance would also prove problematic.

She only hoped that time was still on their side. This was a war that could not be lost, lest they displease Bhaal himself....
