There had been so much going on with the young Albaelia. Classes in Evocation, Shadows and even the private tutoring in Healing. Yet none of that seemed to satisfy her. The brief touch upon the elements had proven elusive.

Nothing felt right to her. Nothing except the diplomacy and finding little quirks to use to her advantage.

She was so engrossed in thought that she had been caught out in Master Nil'aiha's class. Though she could have sworn she heard him purr.

"You are distracted, novice."

She looked up at the enchantment master, a bit startled. "Oh, I'm sorry Master. The Ascensions... I'm not sure what I should do."

The Master had a knowing look on that pretty boy face of his. He stood a bit too close and toyed with a lock of her blonde tresses. "You are Gorgonhorn, no?"

She had to wonder at the line of question, "Yes, Master."

"You are the quiet one, the one that prefers to work in the shadows?" He observed again.

"Well, yes, but shadow magic doesn't feel right." She admitted to him.

"Child, there are other ways to work from the shadows, more mundane. Information gathering, advice.... You are more suited to be the power behind the throne."

She had figured that much out just due to her bloodlines. Even her eldest brother served their own Kingdom in that capacity though few saw it.

"Have you given thought to the Enchantment schools and using that magic to enhance your own... charms?" There was that sense that he was purring again. The hand lightly soothed at her hair.

There was an amused look to the master, "Much like you are attempting to do now, Master Nil'aiha?"

There was the silky laugh, "Oh yes, I keep forgetting you have Elvish blood. Your people tend to be annoyingly resistant to charm. But that does not mean you cannot use it's powers."

She looked up at him curiously now. "Is it possible?"

"Child, you know how to use your voice to great effect. You tonality when speaking with others either puts them at ease or can cut like the sharpest dagger."

She nodded at that. It came to her naturally, thus it made it easy for her to soothe Thea or charm Danilo when she needed help. Thea never realized and Danilo was amused by it.

"So you enhance your greatest asset with magics that are more innate. Use your voice as the tool, and hone it to razor sharpness."

There was a slowly spreading smile at that. "Just like you are doing now, only you are focusing with touch as well." She was very resistant more so than a half-elf should be.

"Just so. I will... instruct you." There was that sultry smile on his lips.

"With conditions, Master Nil'aiha." She was one to set the boundaries, even though the Master would one to ignore them.

There were advantages to being within the oldest house in the Institute. There was a wealth of knowledge that had been sitting stagnant with the House's decline waiting to be explored. IT was this treasure trove that the Half-elven novice started exploring for information to help her friend...

... to no avail.

Frustrated with the fruitless research, she turned to a good friend for some ideas. Damien was extremely knowledgeable when it came to to dark race and the Unseelie certainly fit the bill. The conversation was enlightening, but equally frustrating.

"One thing people tend to forget is that names have power." The red-headed 1/2 demon pointed out, "However, it also stands to reason that the Unseelie knows this too. Keep it in mind in case an opening arises. Perhaps Master Macintyre might have some insight."

Another fruitless quest, to say the least as the Unseelie Lord was less than helpful...

"Are ye daft, child? He had growled at her. "Do you ken tha' Ah would give ye such a weapon tha' can be used agains' me?"

Understandable there, she has admitted to herself. Other than making a special trip home, the only thing she could do was head into Rhydin's WestEnd. Her destination?

"Perp Miz" or Our Lady of Perpetual Misery...

She had been serious when she had suggested a blessing on the bells. She would have to touch base with Bayliss about that...

... Provided this visit yielded the results she had hoped for. In all of her inquires, she not once revealed that it was for Alaric that she was seeking the information for. Let every think that she was studying for an assignment in Damien's class. The Half Demon would hold her secrets.

She moved into the main church building, hoping that a priest might be available to aid in this endeavor. She paused within the Vestibule to allow her eyes a moment to adjust.

"Fair morning, child. Is there something I can help you with?" It seems the deities were finally inclined to be merciful.

She turned a bright smile on the approaching priest. "Oh my, thank you father." She pitched her voice to sound innocent, yet hopeful. Her face that same bright mask. "I was hoping to beg a blessing for a gift of some friends expecting their first child."

"Are they member of this parish?" The Priest inquired thoughtfully.

"I do not know. I know the parent are of this faith. I wanted to give them a birthing gift that would be meaningful to them." She felt a twinge of guilt for the half-truth yet she felt it necessary to protect the priest from the Unseelie. She also would not reveal Alaric's secrets. The noblewoman was very practiced in this type of subterfuge. Master Nil'aiha would be proud of her and all without the use of magic.

"Well, I think I can accommodate such a request, child." The priest made arrangements with the young noble, asking for nothing in return. He graciously performed the blessings on the items she had brought along with her.

However, when the priest went to check on the donation box, he was surprised to find a sizable donation to the parish. The half-elf was very appreciative for the aid...
