An envelope was sent to the offices of the Oracle, containing a short letter, a drawing comparing human and elven ears, a photograph close up on an elven ear against green hair, and two more labelled envelopes. The letter was not signed:

Those who believe that Carley could have possibly been fired from the Stitch because she is an elf need to clean their glasses and take a better look at the woman being accused of anti-elf actions. Please take note of the included diagram and photograph.

Please forward the included copies to Mr. Franco and to the Elven Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.

The drawing and photograph are as follows:

Elly

And where did this mail end up? Buried in a mountain on Becky's inbox. A hard worker, that one. At the very least, she had wonderful nails, as often as she filed them. This particular day, she and The Witch, who, by the way, was another very hard worker, were taking a break (one of many) at Becky's desk, giggling and talking and gossiping about how cute Gav was. This wasn't the first or last time they had done this though, no. This is how The Witch spent many a days at The Oracle. Well, on the days she actually showed up... which wasn't very often, but don't tell that to Amaltea, lest The Witch die.

"Oh! I tried that shampoo you gave me Elly, it's done absolute wonders for my hair." Beaming, Becky tossed her hair about, flaunting. "I'm pretty sure Gavie's even noticed."

"Really~? I thought you looked really pretty lately~" A big dimpled smile was given to Becky from The Witch before violets trailed curiously to the pile in the inbox. Not surprisingly, the outbox was rather sparse in comparison. "You know~ I'm having so much trouble thinking of a good article to write up~"

"Write about what you usually write about." Nodding, Becky's file went back and forth, working on perfecting those manicured nails. "That's actually pretty helpful to a lot of people."

"I know~" The Witch sighed then. "But in a recent article in Kosmos Magazine it was said that I don't appeal to the more 'intelligent' denizens of Rhydin~ I don't understand~ You like my articles, right~?" Silly girl...

"Of course I do!" Becky nodded assuringly to The Witch, but kept on with her filing. Nail filing of course, never paper filing. "So the people that wrote that article obviously don't know what they're talking about."

"I guess~ But I was thinking, maybe it would be good if I wrote about something that appealed to those people~? Some kind of 'real issue'~? Do you have any ideas Becky~?"

"Mm? Oh, yeah.. sure. Um." Becky's gaze wandered briefly, before she gestured to the inbox. "I'm sure there's something in there worth writing about." Pretend to help out, and lighten her work load, that was the plan.

"Really~?" Lips pursed, The Witch's gaze turned to the inbox, and the first thing she laid eyes upon (which as fate would have it, was the previously mentioned mail) was the first thing she carefully pulled out. "Maybe this will be something good~ Thanks Becky, you're such a good friend~!"

Goodbyes exchanged, The Witch moved back to her little desk and took a seat, then promptly opened up the letter. Brows scrunched curiously at the sight of two copies, and they were set aside before she started looking over the contents. Ah, right, she recalled previous articles on this subject.. kind of. The last issue of The Oracle was pulled out, along with Franco's writings for a bit of research. Wow. Discrimination? Elf Rights? This really did seem like something smart people would be interested in. So.. this was a story she would cover! Oh, and the ideas she had... those ninnies at Kosmos Magazine would eat their words.

First thing was first though. A pumpkinhead pulled out of her hat, she set him on the ground next to her, then handed him one of the letters to be forwarded. "Do me a favor Groucho~? Deliver this to Marc Franco personally~ You can find him at that coffee shop Mace found him in~"

Groucho looked to the letter in clothy hands, then gave The Witch a thumbs up. "Totally~" And with that, he wobbled on out of The Oracle office, giving cordial nods to those around them.

The next letter however, The Witch would deliver personally.

"Becky~!" Called over to the nail filing wizard. "Who's the head of the Elven Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission~?"

So much for lightening her work load. "Uh.. I dunno? I can try to find that though."

Fifteen minutes later, after a bit of searching, another finished nail, and a cup of coffee, Becky managed to pull up the information requested. "Adan Ith'Arian."

Violets blinkety blinked. What an odd name! "Okay, thanks Becky~! Do me another favor will you~? Could you give Gav a message for me~? Tell him I need to know if he's ever suffered discrimination for being an elf, and if he has, how it makes him feel, and how he feels about humans~" A grin was flashed to Becky after that, and out The Witch went, envelope in hand.

Becky sighed, then pulled out a post-it note. What was written on it? 'Gavie-Elf hate?' That was promptly stuck in her inbox, immediately forgotten about as she went back to filing her nails...
