Becky wasn't special enough.

But, the presant that was sitting on her desk, delivered sometime in the morning told her that she was extra special to someone. The box was somewhat colorful, as it rested there. It seemed to shimmer some. Upon opening the box was a lovely gold charm, a pretty little piece that shimmered in the light. Attached to the charm was the smoothest, silkiest black and silver ribbon one could possibly imagine.

It would call out to her, as she picked it up.

Gavilean bounded in the door with yet another billboard picture in his camera - a perfect addition for the next Oracle.

He saw Becky sitting at her desk. "Becky, good morning! If you're not a sight for sore eyes. You get more and more beautiful ever day. Soon you're going to have me forgetting I'm a married man." Of course, he was just kidding, but he knew Becky really ate up his flirting.

He was about to pass by, but couldn't help but comment on the black ribbon in her hair. He wondered if she was going to a funeral. "Becky, what a lovely ribbon. I hardly noticed it with the beauty of your hair outshining it. Oh, and a new gold pendant! Is there a boyfriend out there that I don't know about? Someone I'm going to have to fight for your love?"

He had to get upstairs to Des, but Becky was just so gullible he had to have some fun first.

Gav was just about to head upstairs when she said she found the present on her desk. In RhyDin these days, that was not necessarily a good thing.

"Well, Becky, you are far too beautiful for a black bow and that little pendant. Whatever admirer gave you that, he's just cheap and tasteless. You just wait for lunch and your Gavie will bring you back the kind of gifts you deserve."

He gave her a wink and headed up the stairs.

Gavilean never forgot his promise. The next time he and Des were in Westridge, he mentioned how they should really give Becky something for her dedicated service at the Oracle. Everyone knew it wasn?t very dedicated, but then again, no one was very dedicated at the Oracle.

Gav knew that if he got jewelry for Becky, he?d have to get something much more expensive for Des, but that was okay. He loved his wife more than a ton of treasuries, and the wealth off all the kingdoms in the world, so a little money didn?t mean much. Well, actually it was a LOT of money, but it was worth it to him.

He bought Becky a beautiful gold necklace with a three diamond display where the necklace would rest upon the chest. He also bought her a very nice clip for her hair. The best thing of all was the elaborate nail file with polished opal handle. She would surely love that. He had them all boxed up with a beautiful silver bow on the blue velvet covered box. Becky would be salivating.

The next day when Gav and Des returned to RhyDin city, Gav couldn?t wait to give Becky the box. He went in ahead of Des and saw Becky sitting at her desk. He walked up to her with the box behind his back.

?Oh, Becky dear. I have something nice for you,? he said in a sweet sing-song voice. He then brought the box forward and set it in front of her.

Gavilean was shocked by Becky?s reaction to the beautiful hair clip. It was sparkly with gold and little diamonds, and normally Becky would have done just about anything for such a gift, especially when all she was wearing on her hair was that stupid looking black and silver ribbon. This was just not the Becky they all adored and somewhat ignored.

?But Becky, that one is just a black and silver ribbon. It does nothing for your hair. This beautiful hair clip will perfectly accent your lovely blond hair that always catches my attention when I walk in that door.?

The Templar soldier was practically a fixture now at the Oracle... He was hardly ever asked anything and only rarely had anything to report back to the Templars.

When he overheard the latest conversation between Gavilean and Becky, he took careful note of it. The woman normally made such a fuss over Gavilean... yet now, something was clearly wrong.

He made a few notes... this didn't seem like something that needed to be reported right away though.

Becky did not notice anything was missing. But for some reason she was still upset. When Gav came back she was sitting there as usual filing her nails, but she was frowning instead of her usual idle expression.

"Fine! You go give the present to your wife! You never really liked me anyway!" She huffed and turned her back on him again.

Yes, the ribbon was gone but the effects will last a couple of days. Hopefully she won't notice that the ribbon is missing until she gets home. Hopefully for Gav that is.
