A story comes in a envelope, plain and tan. Well it is more like a folder thing, one of those you seal with a tack that bends apart. It was on the desk of the oracle building, and slightly damp but not enough to make a difference in the ink. It is just addressed to the oracle in general as a recording of events.

Opened and the contents pulled out it reads as followed.

Dear Oracle Staff,

I have no idea if this will ever reach you. I sent it off with one of the crew members that got away from the event, mostly intact. We were a simple trading vessel, transporting medical supplies. We came across an island. Something we had never seen before. It was vast and exotic as most islands on these seas are.

One of the men swore they saw somebody on that island, or something for that matter. It looked like a man in distress trying to get our attention with flames. We decided to go check it out and we radioed in the situation to the headquarters. It was filling us with a sense of fear that got stronger the closer we got to this strange new island. You see, reader. There are stories of sailors approaching islands like this and never being seen again, the men began to get nervous, but we could not help but wonder what the person on the island was feeling, we had to help.

Reader, we never made it to the island. The sea began to boil and grow violent in front of us. Something was coming for us. A shape from the depths of the sea decided to rise up against us. Why, none can say. I can only assume now that it was protecting this island. The serpentine beast rose from the sea foam, it was hideous, there were and are still not any words to describe it. Its eyes were solid blue and tentacles of a squid adorned it's mouth area, they were short though. It had arms that seemed to be made only for the water. It bellowed a terrible roar of challenge to us. Most of my men froze in terror. There was some unknown force keeping us in place.

Reader, I do not know what this thing was, but I am well aware of what it can do and it's apparent willingness to destroy, to murder. The monster attacked in what seemed like slow motion. Its claws were outstretched and as if the night itself came from those blades in the form of beams, the came for us!. The first beam struck the front of the ship where all the men were located, used to be. I watched and to my horror the flesh of my crew began to melt off. The screams soon died off and my fear broke like a wave crashing against the shore. I did the only thing I could do. I hid from the beast in the cabin.

Call me a coward if you will but I did not want to die like that. And since the ship was not destroyed when the beam hit, I figured I would be safe from it inside. And I was. The black beams swiped over the ship and destroyed the living population of the ship. I used my last bit of courage to get through the bone yard and move to the bridge. I spun the wheel in hopes to get the monster to stop attacking. It worked and the ship slowly turned away from the island and was traveling towards the way it came.

My fate now is starving to death. That was six days ago and the monster's power destroyed all the food on the ship. I write this with my last bits of strength I have left in me, I do not expect to last much longer and this story must be one that is told, as a warning to others if nothing else. Something is out there. Something is waiting for you.

Signed...

The letter ends here. Reports say it was found next to the long dead body of a Captain Reynold of the trading ship S.S. Bluestar. The ship was filled with at least fifty skeletons picked clean by some unknown force. There was not even any blood to be found anywhere else on the ship.
