His personal armory was inventoried, the ship's armory and sundries had been inventoried and now Sui found himself in the galley, relaxing and drinking what was left of his personal stash of whiskey. One booted foot was on the table and he was lucky that CeCe was no where to be found. Dressed in his typical attire of camouflage fatigues, his beloved Sara nestled cozily at his side, as always. It'd been a few weeks since they busted Pol's uncle from the jail and Sui was more than happy to be in the black; with his family intact.
As always, however, Sui's peace and quiet was about to be shattered, albeit gently, by the arrival of Aidyn. She didn't sleep long hours in the black, often awake long after everyone else had gone to bed, and she was well used to having the ship to herself at such times. Hence, she felt absolutely no embarrassment in dancing barefoot into the galley in her nightclothes - a raggedy tank and shorts that were more appropriate for underwear - singing to herself. She flashed Sui a wide grin before ducking behind the galley counter. "Countin' sheep, Grumpy Pants?"
When Aidyn appeared in the galley doorway, Sui slowly lowered his shot glass onto the table and dropped his feet to the ground. He stared, as if he'd never seen a woman before; jaw dropped and eyes wide. He wasn't used to seeing the doc in anything less than what she normally wore. Slowly his head swiveled on his neck as he watched her dance across the floor like some dancing queen. The spell was broken the second she spoke and he leaned back with a soft chuckle. "Don't be talkin' bout countin' nothing, Mei Mei. I've had my fill of countin' for one day." The shot glass was picked up and he downed the contents in a single swallow.
"Got 'nough in tha' bottle fer two?" Aidyn asked him with no cessation of her grin; she'd seen the look he'd given her as she entered, and was fully expecting to be bawled out for wearing less than a whore in a public place. That was the only real trouble with Sui, she reflected; he really didn't see her as anything but a little girl, despite the number of times she'd patched him up in the past. Grabbing her mug, she moved out from the galley and plunked herself down on the table in front of him, crossing her legs Indian-style and waving the mug at him.
"Think y'can handle it?" There was a smirk and he slid the bottle across the table to her. "Better not let Cap or Brent see ya like that. They'll think I'm corruptin' ya." Perhaps it was the drink that was getting to him, but he couldn't resist the urge to give her a good once over with his eyes.
She snorted merrily, flicking her blazing red hair out of her eyes. "I kin handle anythin' ya can," came her challenge, brown eyes twinkling with good humour as she caught the bottle, tipping it up to pour a more than generous amount into her cup. She pushed the bottle back over to him. "Who cares wha' they think? They ain't gonna see anythin' past th' end of Brent's dong for th' next month or so, anyways."
"I didn't need to know that," he groaned as he captured the bottle and poured himself another shot. Sui knew a challenge when he saw it, and could rarely resist one. "Y'think y'kin handle anythin? Well you got about three shots to catch up. Make it quick!" and he pushed the bottle back towards her.
Her mouth opened in a loud laugh as he accepted her challenge, and Sui was treated to the sight of Aidyn knocking back the contents of her mug - a good four inches of whiskey - with barely a wince. Her eyes did water a little, though. Giggling as the liquid burned its way down her throat, she reached out and took another swig directly from the bottle before pushing it back. "See ya and raise ya," she grinned wickedly, laying one hand flat on the table to hide the faint sway in her posture as the alcohol took affect.
Sui had a poker face that even the best of card players dreamed of. Even as impressed as he was by Aidyn's ability to take in that much whiskey without batting an eye, he never showed it. Instead, he lifted his shot and downed it with one swallow. Then he took the bottle from the table and with a nod, he upended it and took a very healthy swig. "Mmaaah!" he lowered the bottle and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. "Your turn. See ya and raise double."
"That ain't fair, ya mouth's bigger'n mine," she laughed in response, scooting closer so she wouldn't have to catch the bottle as it was swung at her. This change of position put her feet firmly in Sui's lap, though she didn't seem to have noticed. She lifted the bottle in both hands, very ladylike indeed ... until she started to drink. One, two, three, four swallows of the burning liquid, and she lowered the bottle, gasping and coughing, but still with that wide grin on her lips. "Tag, y'it."
"Then y'gotta take more..." he didn't finish before her feet were in his lap and she was upending the bottle. Once she was done, he took the bottle from her and brought it to his lips once more. After a long pause, he brought the bottle back down and put it on the table. "I think y've had 'nough, Squirt. Y'eyes are crossin'."
"Nah, tha's y'eyes goin' all squiggly," Aidyn countered, wiggling one finger towards the end of his nose as she giggled happily. "Whassa matter, Suizy? Scared m'gonna beat ya?" She lifted her leg with exaggerated care and poked the end of his nose gently with her big toe. Her hand, meanwhile, had caught up the bottle, and she took another swig from it.
"Hmmph." His eyes crossed as first her finger, then her toe poked at the end of his nose. Before she could pull her foot away, he snapped his teeth just short of the end of her toe. "I ain't scared o'nothin'. 'Cept maybe Reavers." He gave a silent shudder and took the bottle back to take another swig. This time, however, he emptied the bottle. With a smug grin, he slammed the bottle down onto the table. "I win!"
"Onl-only 'cos there's no more, ya big rufftey tufftey cuddly bear," she objected cheerfully, waving her hands in a random display of vague disgust at the shortening of their game. "I got some, bu' I cain't use it, 'cos elsewise nothin'd keep y'on th'table if'n ya got all shot up an' stuff." She grinned suddenly, leaning down until her nose touched his, looking crosseyed into his eyes. "Ya git nightmares over Reavers, big boy?"
Her inebriation was causing him great amusement, and his smile reflected that. "Who doesn't get nightmares 'bout Reavers? Since when is it fun to cut up y'face like a jigsaw puzzle and eat people?" There was a warmth that was speading through his body and he felt relaxed enough to pull Aidyn into his lap and hold her there.
There wasn't any resistance from the intoxicated medic as she was drawn off the table and into Sui's lap. In fact, Aidyn curled herself up as though she belonged there more than happily, tugging at his stubble. "Ain't nev-never seen a Reaper," she mused thoughtfully. "Ain't never seen a lot of stuff, reeeelly." She drew out the word for as long as she could, then burst into giggles at the silly sound. "Seen a lot of boys."
