Jake moved around the house slowly, his body aching from the physical abuse he had recieved from Anubis, his mind aching from the mental abuse he had inflicted upon himself. Waiting for the coffee to finish brewing Jake reached up to feel the swelling around his eye, and gingerly to test his broken nose. He must be a wretched sight he thought to himself, just as well though for his outside to match the wretchedness he felt inside.

Jake poured himself a cup of coffee, and drifted into the bedroom. The sight of the bed still made, and unrumpled was a clear reminder of the true cost of him losing his temper last night. Clearing his throat before, and then taking a swallow of coffee to bolster himself as he moved into the room, grabbing his socks and his boots. Jake sat his coffee cup on the window sill as he sat down on the chair to finish getting dressed. Last night played out slowly in his mind, this morning there were so many places he could pinpoint as just the right time for him to shut his mouth, or to have said the things that would have helped. That was all over and done with now, his misdirected pride had totaly seen to it that he finished the night off acting like the same jerk as when it started.

Looking out the window Jake watched the horses drifting around the paddock, blasts of steam eminating from thier noses as the searched for feed. There was no sense in holing up in here with regrets there was work that needed to be done. Jake reached for his cup of coffee, noticing as he did the steam it had left on the window. Reaching a finger tip to the moist surface of the glass Jake trailed his finger across it in a curving line. The simple act made him smile, then impulsively Jake began to write something in the steam.

After last night's fisticuff's at the Red Dragon Inn between Jake and Anubis, Shylah can not help but be concerned for Jake's health ... both physical and mental. The Seafaring Warrior has never witnessed the cowboy in such a state of mind before, even though their path's do not cross very often. At any rate, she is determined to check in on him to see how he is faring after the beating he took from the Egyptian.

As Shy makes her way to his ranch, the previous evening's events re-play in her mind for the second time. There are a lot of questions to be answered, but she has doubts Jake will actually reveal the reason(s) he chose a fight with Anubis, no matter how much she may prod. The problem being ... they truly do not know each other very well, and trust does not come easily. Jake seems to be a very private person, as far as she can discern from her observations. All she can do is lend an ear should he wish to speak about the demons that seem to be plaguing him these days. And perhaps impart some advice, if he should ask.
