Lord Brutin

Brutin huffed in exertions as he came to a rest five paces away, bringing his wooden sword back to guard position, the red welt across his chest newly added from the recent exchange brought him out of his fantasies and back to the fight. Philodus blinked sweat out of his eyes and then grinned, his own body exhibiting the welts of their workout.

"You are distracted and driven, those are a bad combination my friend." Philodus said and moved forward to press him, Brutin stayed put and stood him off with a quick series of thrusts and parries.

"I am sick to death...." they crossed swords once again and this time Brutin scored a hit along Philodus' left thigh, the thud of the wood on flesh resounding in the fighting circle. Philodus grimaced in pain and then backed Brutin off with a deft series of attacks that left them winded again. "...of the weaklings that infested this place..." Brutin moved forward suddenly but Philodus was ready and scored a searing blow down Brutin's back, his wind sucked through clenched teeth for his trouble. "...and most of them are drunkards now." He said as he turned ready to engage his friend yet again.

Philodus watched him and stepped back two steps to goad him. Brutin took the bait and charged him full, their blades giving a solid thunk as wood contacted wood. "That cannot have you agitated my friend." Philodus snapped off with a lunge and earned himself a heavy slash across the midrift.

Brutin stepped back to allow his opponent to regain his breathing, taking the time to throw a cup of water over his body to help cool himself. "No, what agitates me is the prospect of finding someone dangerous enough to rouse my interests. What if she is actually dangerous? What if instead of contracting her services to ward me or kill for me I instead pursue and conquor her? Have I defeated my own interests?" He mused as Philodus regained his breathing and his feet, giving the signal to continue.

They squared off once again and clashed through a series of strokes until the thought of the girl's laugh and merry face brought up Brutin short and Philodus offered him a reminder to the side of his face just exactly what they were doing at the moment. Brutin fell off to the side holding his face and then checking his hand for blood.

Philodus smiled at him. "You should be thinking of my blade instead of her breasts." Philodus teased and Brutin grinned.

"Indeed, a lesson well taught my friend. But in all seriousness, the thought of hunting again, a worthy opponent or perhaps a disappointment? Do I wish to know? What if she falls short and is nothing more than a bed warmer?" Brutin shuddered at the thought, there had been few to match his expectations. He spat the blood in his mouth out and then grinned, his teeth stained for his troubles.

"You were once a warrior, try your hand at her and if you fail, I will drink in your memory. I can always sell off your holdings and waste it on a Paga Girl in Port Kar." Philodus teased and Brutin's eyes flared and came at him once more. They clashed for several minutes but Brutin could not get through the man's guard for lack of control on his own temper.

Finally they fell back breathing hard and looked at one another. "I do not make war of my own accord my friend, you know that, I take without the gift of honor." Brutin supplied and Philodus shrugged.

"Then get her out of your system my friend before you forget yourself."
