Alaemnah lay there in Gun?s arms listening to his heartbeat, and feeling his breathing not having moved from the position she had laid in since falling asleep earlier in the night. He had told her after she had explained her questions of the last few days, ?We will face that problem tomorrow.? Tomorrow was coming to fast and creeping upon her at the same time.

She had much to explain of her actions, and didn?t know if the explanation would be enough. If she had had more time, she could have spoken to Nadine to ask her advise on how to proceed, but she knew time had drawn short for her. So for now she lay here waiting for the sun to rise, listening to Gun?s heart beating slowly and rhythmically as his chest rose and fell with each breath, drawing what strength she could from it, and from his arms now wrapped around her.

She knew she had one hope. She had not seen rage in his eyes as she had given what she could of her explanation. She knew she had betrayed his trust in her, and for that she didn?t think she could make it right again. But there had been a tenderness in his eyes, she was sure of that.

His words spoken, his touch flowed through her mind once more.

"So... this means... you are a child of a slave?"

She had only been able to nod, not trusting her voice at the moment.

"A slave cannot lie."

He had been moving closer to her as she had told her story, and then took one more step placing his hand against her cheek. She was trembling as she had watched him close the distance between them and then his hand come up. She had expected him to slap her, had actually been prepared for it, and this tenderness he showed instead had been what had shaken her. She had betrayed his trust, and yet he had not struck her for the betrayal. Instead he had simply wiped the tears from her eyes.

Then his hand was removed as he commanded her, "Strip."

She had hesitated only a moment, and then did as he commanded. As he maneuvered her to the bed, he held her and offered, ?We will face that problem tomorrow.?

Tomorrow was coming very fast.

In recollection of the past few days the war veteran lay there with the girl in his arms as she slept... she had dropped quite the bomb.

"A child of a slave... really?" he mused in his inner thoughts.

He kept the rhytmn of his breathing at a very slow pace, using it to lull the shaken girl to her sleep. She probably expected him to slap her for such a forethought deception of the whole organization... but his Master's heart was conflicted.

On one hand... she was an employee of a the Slaver's Association and thus in the eyes of all was very much a free-person under protection; such an attempt to collar the girl would result in death, these were the words he had remembered from Brutin's mouth.

On the otherhand... she was a child of a slave. Children born from slaves were usually considered slaves as well. A slave cannot lie. She had knowingly deceived the whole organization.

"Which took precident? The past or the present? Am I entitled to discipline her?" he thought.

He would have to consult a higher authority since he did not know the answer... he would have to speak with Brutin.
