Mokksha

Mokksha hummed as she stepped through the main gate of the compound. She was happy and excited about her plan. Arak had promised to teach her more about the skills involved in flying well ever since he had gifted her with the magical bracelet that lent her spirit wings and she was determined to take him up on the offer. She followed the guards directions to Arak's quarters and left a note for him that read:

"Hello Sweetheart, I miss you. When can we get together? You did promise to teach me to fly as well as you do. Just drop me a note at my lodgings saying where and when and I will be there. Hugs and Kisses,
Your Mokkie."

Continuing to hum she skittered off on her errands for her own employer, who for whatever reason, said she was very good as unicorn bait and he hoped she would continue to work for him for a good long while. She smiled to herself as she headed towards the spot on the edge of the woods where she was to receive this day's work instructions.

Arak got the message a little late, he hadn't actually visited the small room given to him at the Association compound since his work for them was finished. However, after visiting Alaemnah he had been told by a slave that a note had been left in his old room. Curious, the gryphon read over the note and smacked his forehead with a palm. He'd almost forgotten about Mokksha's flying and magic lessons in all the recent chaos. Time to remedy that.

Conjuring some parchment, the mage begins to write using his talon alone. 'Penning' a quick letter, Arak concentrates on the location Mokksha showed him, the apartments where she lived these days. A muttered chant, and the sealed letter vanished, to be deposited on whatever suitable surface could be found in the apartments.

~Dearest Mokksha,
Forgive an addled mage for neglecting your flying lessons. Meet me in the city square at noon tomorrow and I promise to remedy my mistakes in full. Till then love, thinking of you.

It had been a few days since Arak had seen Mokksha, so he took a trip down to the Association compound to see if perhaps she had been looking for him there, maybe she'd left another note.

The gryphon nodded to the guard on duty, who nodded back and waved Arak through. It seemed that Hex had not revoked his access to the guest quarters so far, which was fine and good for the mage. Looking around the compound, Arak could see signs of the Legion gearing up for another war, soldiers drilling on whatever training was assigned that day, elsewhere vehicles being serviced or repaired.

Shrugging these details off, Arak had never been one for battle if he could help it, the gryphon unlocked and entered the small apartment given to him when he'd been hired. Just as he'd thought, Mokksha had left a note under the door. Bending down to pick it up, Arak closed the door before opening it and reading. After only a few moments, then envelope fell to the floor from numb fingers. By the end of the letter, the gryphon had clenched his beak shut and the talons of his empty hand were drawing red-gold blood from his palm as he clenched a fist.

Arak finally set the letter down on a table and turned for the door, nearly wrenching the metal off it's hinges as he stormed right back out into the compound, headed for the large building that contained the offices and Brutin's apartments. Several guards saw the enraged gryphon cross the grounds, and though one started to move as if to block his passage, that human quickly found his body going numb, unable to move. Arak strode right past the guards as they rushed to assist their fallen comrade. Later, in the barracks, one of the guards would tell his friends he had seen the gryphon's eyes literally flash with fire.

Mounting the stairs up to the level where Brutin's office was, Arak stormed in through the open door and looked around. Still no secretary about, so the gryphon spun around out into the hall. Moving towards the first slave he spotted and grabbing her by the collar, hauling her up to meet his eyes, by now blazing red with flames. "You! I need to speak with Lord Brutin, immediately!"

Dropping the poor girl to the floor, the mage turned on his heel and moved back into Brutin's office, there to wait for the slaver to arrive.
