Lord Brutin

Brutin accepted the snifter of brandy from Lyria and then watched her as she got back to her feet and regained her Pom Poms from Portia who had held them for her. Together they joined Cookie, dressed in traditional cheerleader uniforms of Urth sans their bottoms of course, they were slaves after all.

Brutin sipped and glanced around the well appointed apartment he had rented for the day, the Book Maker was the best in the city and everyone of that persuasion was here, the opportunity to mingle with the city elite too much to resist.

A bookie entered quietly, the guards allowing him to pass after a quick inspection. "Milord, you summoned me?" the man said with a bow and Brutin smiled.

"I am not royalty, please dispense with the title." He reached over to the small side table holding his brandy and took the coin purse resting there. He handed it over absently. "I wish this placed on Corlanthis."

"But I just placed your bet upon Anubis, they are fighting each other and you have placed contradictory bets." The man offered but Brutin shrugged noncommittally.

"Now I have two bets on the outcome. Is there a problem?" Brutin looked to the man.

"No Lo....sir." The man bowed which was a simply courtesy in these parts and left. Brutin regained his glass and sipped it.

"I have heard that word got out we were...inquiring as to the outcome of the fight and odds have seem to changed slightly to reflect that." Philodus said and Brutin shrugged, there was nothing to be done about that except to keep Penelope. Everyone else he had talked to except Cor himself was now dead. If word had leaked it came from him, and regarding a completely unrelated fight. Funny.

"In any case I am now worried." Brutin admitted and Philodus looked at him.

"What is there to worry about?"

"I am either being tricked by Tara's beloved or he is seriously that honorable, in which case he has garnered my respect." He said and Philodus shook his head.

"I do not understand you sometimes. Why respect him if he is so honorable? He is weak." Philodus said and Brutin grinned at him.

"So, weak when you are facing him and he refuses to see reason for what you did my friend. As an enemy they are usually implacable foes. And this one knew who I was and what I did and treated me with respect anyway, still, he could not be swayed."

"So now I am confused my friend, you pine away for an enemy you cannot fight or hope to defeat if you did?' Philodus put forth but Brutin shook his head.

"In all the time I have known Tara not one of her husbands have lived, and knowing this as I do and seeing the coming nuptials coupled with Cor and the way he is and the way RhyDin ::said with a grimace:: is right now, I fear for his safety, I have half a mind to destroy the relationship." He admitted and Philodus chuckled and shook his head.

"Why save his life? He has done nothing for you." Philodus spat.

"What do you measure wealth by Philodus? Do you measure it by gold like so many others? Or is it some other material function? For myself I have so much money I could not hope to spend it, and because of that I lack for nothing material. No, my friend, like most others I greed for those things which I cannot have." Brutin explained but Philodus huffed.

"And just want does this Corlanthis have that you would grasp for yourself? Honor? That did not serve you so well last time you wielded it, my friend." Philodus cautioned him and Brutin looked at him thoughtfully and replied softly.

"Humanity."
