Bustin' a Major Groove
There was a hole in time -- a hole that cut through dimensions and crossed paths to worlds where things were completely different. When the pressure of time would build up, there would be a hiccup. Time would displace people -- throw them through dimensions, and put them somewhere completely different...
In this case, Ada and Ghent were lucky. There were worse places they could have ended up; however, when time pulled them from the basement of some twenty years before their present, it hadn't done so without some consideration. Which was why Ghent was standing outside a crowded bathroom in which Ada seemed to be trapped in. There was a lot of lights and loud music. Despite everything, time had been kind enough to at least dress them for the occasion.

Ghent blinked a few times and looked around. ?What the hell?? There were a few other men standing around, presumably waiting on their dates in the restroom. Ghent thought to reach for his gun, but it wasn't there. That made his brow furrow. The music was near deafening, from his perspective. One of the taller men lifted a brow at Ghent, who suddenly had seemed very confused.

Ada was being squished between bodies, and before she could stop, she'd poked herself in the teeth with the lipstick she was apparently trying to apply. There had to be at least ten other girls trying to use the mirror. For a second, Ada tried to get out of the group, but before she walked away completely, she made sure to get the lipstick off of her teeth.

"Getting antsy, kid?" The taller fellow, who was a few inches higher in height than the not so short Ghent, smirked at the Major. Some lewd reference, most likely.

Ghent peered at the man before him. It'd be obvious Ghent hadn't dressed himself, as he looked rather slick at that time. He had on a cotton black shirt that had some odd zigzag design and a zipper in the middle. His jeans were a slightly faded blue and tighter than Ghent would ever allow. His hair was spiked as it had been before the incident in Heor. When he realized what he was wearing, Ghent grumbled. He did, however, feel the sheath of his knife pressed against his back. ?Antsy? No, I don't think so.?

When Ada finally made her way out the door, two started shoving each other to see who would take Ada's spot in the bathroom. She watched for a second, then tried to understand some about her surroundings. Of course, there was a mass of people and nothing but music.

She was dressed much different than usual -- her hair was its normal color, but it was up in pigtails and teased into frizzy puffs. There was a checkered miniskirt, two belts, and a black t-shirt with a skull on it. She certainly looked lively, if nothing else.

Ghent saw Ada come out of the bathroom and quickly went to grab hold of her arm. He sighed a bit and shook his head. He had no idea what the hell was going on. He certainly didn't remember coming somewhere this loud. He blinked when he finally got a good look at Ada. It made him stop in his tracks completely.

"Ghent!" She was yelling as loud as she could, but it would still be hard to hear her. "What's happened?" Her arm reached out to grab his, trying to pull through the crowd to get closer. Of course, something wasn't right about that, because a moment later, there was movement in the crowd.

Everything lurched and moved, as the crowd started moving around where Ada had been. The crowd started cheering, and chanting. It sounded like "fight, fight, fight," but before Ghent would be able to think about it too much, there would be a taptaptap on his shoulder.

Even in these situations, Ghent knew when something was wrong. He certainly didn't know anyone present. Ghent paused slightly after the tapping. There was no way to warn Ada, so he tried to push her away a bit before he slammed his right foot directly behind him.

Someone wasn't happy. The person went down immediately, and seemed to stammer, trying to talk over the music. "S-sir! We're s-starting!" He shielded his face with one arm and held up a big sticker with "5" written on it. Over top the number, it said, "Rhy'Din Dance Off."

Meanwhile, Ada was apparently in some sort of catfight with another girl. There was some hair-pulling happening, but fore the most part, Ada had an advantage with the robot arm with displays that changed color with the music.

Ghent blinked at the sticker the man had lifted. He certainly made a mistake. He practically yelled over the music, as he offered the man a hand up. ?Forgive me for that! You snuck up on me!? He was unaware of Ada's catfight, as all the noise did a lot to kill Ghent's senses. He relied on his hearing at least as much as his sight.

The sticker was shoved into his hands, and the man righted himself. He seemed to be all right, so he leaned in to talk to Ghent. "Get your partner and meet up for solos in 5!" Then the man leaned back and turned to leave.

The crowd was still chanting, and making sure no one got in the way of Ada and the other girl, who was wearing a black top (halfway, at least) and a jean skirt. Ada was already holding the girl's face into the steel plate flooring, the other arm held back and ready to punch.

Ghent forced his way into the crowd to look for Ada. He had the sticker, of course. One look at Ghent's face would alarm the person that he was not at all happy. He saw Ada as he managed to get near the end of the crowd. He shoved his way into the open space that had been left for the fighting.

The girl on the ground was wearing a sticker on her back, but Ada was obscuring most of it, as she was sitting down on the girl's back to keep her pinned. There was a number on Ada's back, too, but she was wearing a cape with a lightning bolt logo on it, so her number was mostly hidden, too. Both girls' mouths were bleeding, although Ada had obviously come out for the better.

?Don't try anything!? Ghent warned the girl on the ground as he approached the pair. He looked at Ada afterward. ?Ada, come one, we need to go!? Things just always seemed to get more odd. Ghent shook his head a little.

The girl on the ground seemed shocked. But Ada pressed her face into the floor again, and stood up. She brushed herself off, giving the girl a glare, but then fell in line with Ghent. "Let's go."

As Ada moved, the girl on the ground pointed at Ghent and shrieked. "If you dance with her, we're over!" The sticker was a number 5 to match Ghent's, while Ada's was obviously a 7. "I always knew you liked those... those street girls!" But, before Ghent could even answer, the girl had stood up, pushed some people out of the way, and was leaving.

?...What the f*ck?? Normally, Ghent wouldn't be so vulgar, but he was very much confused. He looked at Ada for a moment, then to the retreating girl, and to his sticker. He had no idea what to do. ?Are you all right?? He got close to Ada and spoke in a normal tone. Any lower and she likely wouldn't have heard him.

Ada glanced to the spot in the crowd where Ghent's old dance partner had disappeared, then looked to him. "She started it." It was a matter-of-fact tone, as started wiping the blood from her mouth onto the back of her hand. "I think we're in some sort of competition." Wonder what tipped her off...

?It's a dance competition. I think I just lost my partner...whoever she was.? Ghent couldn't see the girl any longer, of course. He glanced down to the "5" he was holding and shook his head.

The music suddenly quieted, as the loudspeaker started to rumble. It mentioned the solo competition, and even called Ghent's name, as he had apparently pulled the short straw.

Ada looked up at the loudspeaker, then back to Ghent. "Uh... right. Well, I don't seem to have a partner..."

?I'll be your partner, of course.? Ghent saw no way out of the current situation than to just play along. He didn't know what time they were in, but it didn't seem like there was much choice in the matter at this point. He scowled a bit when he heard his name. ?Let's go.?

She couldn't help but giggle a little bit -- partnering up with Ghent for some sort of dance competition was something she never imagined would happen. So, she grabbed his hand and started in the direction of the announcements. Both were quickly ushered into the clearing around the dance floor.

"What music?" There was a manager, demanding away in Ghent's ear. Ada, meanwhile, was putting the sticky letter on the back of Ghent's shirt.

?What music?? Ghent looked surprised as he repeated the question. He had never done anything even remotely similar to a dance competition, so he had no clue he was supposed to pick the music. He only knew songs from Earth, as Heorians usually just replayed what music came over the odd airwaves the planets shared. ?I don't really know...?

The manager rolled his eyes and made a spinning motion to the DJ. "Get out there," was his only comment, before he went to go and talk to another contestant.

Ada shooed Ghent towards the open dance floor, showing him her fingers were crossed for him. She didn't say anything, though. And a thumping beat started in the background.

Of course, Ghent was more than nervous. It likely didn't show on his face, but really, he had no clue what to do. Dancing was a bit like fighting, right? Move fluidly, confidently. Ghent shook his head and little and finally finished getting out to the middle of the floor.

The music started to pulse and fill the club. The lights and lasers were put into motion, and before there was much of a chance for Ghent to change his mind, the whole club was jumping. Already, Ada was moving with the music, and was likely easy to pick out, since her arm was glowing so brightly, and in so many different colors.

Ghent sighed and listened for a few seconds as the music changed. Luckily, he had heard the song before. A nod later and he was in motion -- quick steps to the right that were timed with the bass. As the music shifted again and became more dynamic, Ghent mouthed the words. He planted both of his hands to the floor and swayed his body left to right, suddenly, he dropped his grip and was spinning on his head.

The crowd was going wild, and Ada just stood by the side of the dance floor, mouth hanging open. She was seeing a side of Ghent she'd been completely unaware of. And, well, she felt he might have been unaware of it, too. Of course, she still cheered for him, yelling out her praise and listening to everyone cheer. It was not a type of moment Ada was used to, but she seemed to be enjoying it.

Of course, once Ghent had the rhythm and could hear the response, it only encouraged him. In a move that was more martial arts training than dancing, he came out of the head spin with a high angled kick. The momentum was enough to spring him to his feet. He spared a brief glance at Ada, but was on the move again afterward. The beat picked up and Ghent moved in time with it. One foot in front of the other in fairly quick succession, it gave the illusion of moving, though he wasn't actually going anywhere. The beat stopped and so did he. No motion. When it came back, Ghent took a couple of steps backward and then flipped himself. He landed in a push-up position, which he actually did a pair of with his right hand behind his back.

The audience seemed impressed, and nearly cheers overtop the music. But when the beat came back, everyone started moving again, and it was just loud music again. Towards the end of the song, the DJ came over the speaker and called out, "Would you give it up for number 5, everyone? He sure defended his title, didn't he?"

?Title?? Ghent murmured the question to himself as he stood back on his feet. He wiped at his brow with a hand. He hadn't exerted himself like that in a while and certainly not in that way. He was rather stunned with himself when he headed back towards the crowd to get to Ada.

They announced the next solo dancer, and that person was already trying to take Ghent's alleged title. On the sidelines, Ada looked like she was just going to explode. As he got closer, she seemed to bounce excitedly, obviously ready to say or do something.

Ghent was embarrassed more than anything. He certainly smiled at Ada once he made it to her, but he put a hand behind his head and scratched at his scalp. That action only seemed to come out when he was feeling sheepish or bashful.

As soon as he was close enough, Ada threw her arms around him and hugged him pretty tight. "That was amazing! You looked like a pro!" Even if he was supposed to be a pro, according to the announcer. "Oh, I'm so proud of you!"

?I had to do something...? He was still smiling, but all the praise was making him blush. He hoped all the lights would mask that, despite the burn he felt in his cheeks. He spoke just loudly enough to be heard.

She pecked him on the cheek and gave another squeeze before letting him go again. "Should we go?" Ada wasn't sure what to do, since they had ended up there. There seemed to be more dancing to come, and she wasn't sure if they were supposed to stay or not.

?I haven't the slightest.? Ghent's competitive side forced him to take a glance at the contestant who was currently trying to best him. He didn't say a word about it, however.

"I think we should go!" She reached out and took Ghent's hand, pulling him in the direction of the nearest exit. The music was still blaring, but it seemed to be getting less obtrusive, as they neared the outside walls. Ada didn't stop until a big seven blocked her way. And behind the sticker, there was a large man, who was dressed like a dancer, and didn't look happy about Ghent and Ada teaming up.

Ghent frowned, of course. There was a five to match him, there had to have been a seven for Ada. He didn't let go of Ada's hand, but he did lift his dark eyes slightly to see exactly whom the seven belonged to.

And weren't they lucky? It turned out to be Jad behind the seven -- only Jad who had eaten the proper veggies, because he was huge and looked a lot like a body builder. "Ditchin' me, now? Before pairs?"

Ada frowned and shooed Jad aside. "We're done. I'm sorry..."

Jad looked surprised, and pointed at Ghent, "And you?"

?Uh...yes, I'm done as well. I'm sure someone will outperform me.? Ghent squinted at the fellow for a moment and shook his head. ?See you around, Tyler. ? He hoped they knew each other in this odd place as well, or he might end up getting punched.

Jad shook his head and moved aside. "Whatever. I'll send her stuff over." It seemed things had been more personal than just dance partners.

Still, Ada seemed relieved and squeezed Ghent's hand, before pushing her way out the door. It opened up into a dark alley, which was much quieter and darker than inside had been...

Chaos

Bob was too, affected by this odd occurance in the time stream, one moment he was planning to wage war on all of the creation that Rhydin had to offer, deep in his temple he was, as usual, alone. There was a shift that he sensed and his surroundings changed violently. No longer was Bob in his temple, or for that matter Rhydin at all. The man in black stood upon a battlefield of somekind. Confused much, yeah you could say that. "Where did I end up at this time." Bob was more than ready to slaughter one of those pesky summoner a voice called out to him "You there! If you plan on staying alive mister you had better get down here, now!" Bob looked over his shoulder and saw a man in a military uniform, covered in mud and stained with the blood of others.

Bob, not one to take orders often at first refused this action, or he wanted to anyway, but as if hit with a tidal wave of a cosmic force his memory returned to him. He knew this guy! Bob quickly made his way to the trenches was honestly happy to see his old war buddy again. Although he did not want to come back to this memory and period of time there he was on the frontlines of World war two, again.

The company of heroes were reunited once again. The great war had attracted the attention of the monster and, he was not quite all monster just yet it would have seemed. Bob, being always the one to look out for women of anytype saw the Nazi's treatment of them as...unforgivable. It was a day Bob would never forget. The defended concentration camp called Buchenwald was just ahead. The nazis were losing the battle on all sides and the United states forces met with little resistance upon their march. Bob was among the group of men that would come first to this horrible place. It was April 11,1945.

The battleworn men were in no mood for greetings and seemed to not recognize the man in black who looked like an escaped prisoner in some respects himself. Bob quickly explained to the men that he indeed was a spy for the Allied forces working with military intelligence. This must have meant where ever this version of himself was where he was supposed to be, for better or worse.

Bob had to conseal his emotional connection to former friends as to not reveal himself. Although some of them did ask where Lt. Cyrodin went off to a couple of times. Bob had forgotten that he had used his former name for this little excursion into the realm of mortals. No matter, the mission still had to be completed and Bob explained to the men just like he did last time where the Camp of death was located and would lead them right to it.

The trip was not a long one indeed as in less than a half hour that terrible place could be seen in view. It smelled of burning flesh and death, but there were signs of hope. The prisoners that could still walk and fight had somehow gotten word that we were coming and had stormed the place from the inside out.

The forward troop Bob had allied himself with, did the rest and stormed the gates. The man in black took it all in again. The stench of death and decay was simply overpowering. Even for him at the time, Something grabbed his attention though. It was crying, the sound of terrible sorrow. He had to investgate this. Bob would be the one to discover this camp's secret evil place. A place called only "Children's block 66" It was a prison cell for children, made just for them. The supernatural being tore open the gates.

He would learn that at least 58,000 people were killed here during the course of the war. The last thing Bob saw before the time shift threw him back into his own present reality, were the faces of the tortured children.

In the darkness of his temple, he once again remembered the true horrors of war and sat in silence wondering what it really was he was going to do next, did he want to bring this amount of terror here to this new home of his. A single tear ran down his cheek as shivers ran up his spine in the reminder of what it was he truly wanted.

Where do I go from here. He thought to himself...

The Showdown | Part 1

She wasn't quite sure what had happened, or when things had taken a turn for the strange -- which was saying a lot, when you considered Rhy'Din. "What? Where?"

Ghent lifted a brow as they emerged in the alley. He had even less of an idea where they were, as he hadn't done much exploring in the city. He shook his head. ?Maybe we should go back in.?

"In there?" Ada eyed the door and took a peek around the alley. It looked familiar. "Is this-- I think it's..." She held her arms close to herself, trying to protect against the cold, and walked down the alley. When she reached the main road, she waved at Ghent. "It's the Inn!"

?Are you sure? ? Ghent seemed skeptical, but would anyone have blamed him? He put his left hand into his jeans pocket and started to follow Ada. He also realized something. He looked at his right arm. The cast was gone. That made him blink. It had to have been, though, considering all the moves he pulled. Now, he was feeling a little more than skeptical.

There was a long line of half-dressed girls and loser boyfriends lined up at the front door. The building was similar enough, and over the porch there was a neon sign that read, "Club Dragon." The walls seemed to pulse with the music -- it really was amazing the place was standing. Ada pointed at the porch, "Yeah, look at it."

The sign was the first thing that caught his eye. He lifted a red brow and turned around to look behind himself in disbelief. ?What in the world is going on?? He finally caught up to Ada completely and stood at her side.

"Do you think it's the future?" She made sure to stay close, watching the line stand there and shiver. "It can't be the past. And... and how did they know your name?" Ada rubbed at her arms, though she seemed more nonchalant about the whole ordeal than most would be.

?It's not the future. Like you said, they seem to know my name at least. If it was too far in the future it'd be unusual to see us here, I'd think.? It was a bit of a weak explanation, but something told Ghent this definitely wasn't the future.

Down the alley, a door opened up and out came a man in a suit. He shuffled his way up the gravel until he reached Ghent, panting and red. "You're up again! Why are you out here?! C'mon!" He gestured toward the door he'd come out of.

Ada frowned and looked up at Ghent. She wasn't sure what to do. "Didn't he just go?"

"You'll get your chance!" The manager shooed her and tried to get Ghent to follow him again.

?There's more than one round to this?? It made sense, but that didn't make Ghent feel any better. He looked at Ada for a moment, as he was fairly unsure what to do.

The manager stopped and looked at the Major, obviously shocked. "Did you hit your head, boy? This is the most important bout of the year. If you don't take a fall to this guy, we're getting our thumbs cut off!" This guy seemed very serious about it, too, looking at his thumbs rather longingly already.

?A fall? You want me to let someone win?? Ghent immediately frowned. What the hell was going on? He stepped backward a couple of steps and briefly put his arm around Ada's waist.

"And this?! This isn't supposed to happen until next season when you come back to take your title and his girl! Oooh, we're dead! No thumbs, no toes..." The manager covered his face and walked around in a circle, mumbling to himself.

Ada shook her head, trying to hear his mumbling. "What? Jad's supposed to win?"

?Tyler will come looking if I don't show up.? Ghent knew that. Even if it wasn't the Jad he was familiar with, he knew that would be true. He shook his head and looked to the manager. ?I'll take care of it.? Ghent then headed for the door leading back into the first club.

He didn't get too far before Ada caught up with him, leaving the manager in the dust. She glanced back behind her, then to Ghent, lowering her voice. "You're going to out-dance Jad? Is this one of those times that Jad's there and we're not supposed to know it?" She seemed concerned.

He paused at the door, only opening it slightly before he turned to look at Ada. ?Maybe. I'm still hoping it's some sort of joke.? He knew it wasn't. It made him shake his head. ?I don't have much choice, Ada. He'll come looking. If not for me, then most likely for you.?

"And do what? Dance more aggressively at you?" She wasn't understanding what the risk was. "This isn't dance or die, right?"

?Do you generally cut off someone's thumbs if they win a contest?? It was used as an illustration. There was no irritation present in the rhetorical question. Ghent headed back into the thumping noise and spinning lights. He sighed, since he figured no one could hear.

The manager had caught up by the time they moved inside. He picked through the people so he could lead Ghent back to the proper staging point. Ada, grabbed Ghent's sleeve at the last second and held on while they strung through the crowd. She did not want to get separated again.

Ghent just followed the manager. He slipped his hand into Ada's and squeezed it to reassure her. He didn't say anything, though his dark eyes were seeking Jad in all the confusion.

It was a short trip before Jad's towering structure started to stand out from the crowd. He looked very serious and as soon as he saw Ghent, he glared. He crossed his arms and started to move to meet the three of them.

The manager held up his hands, then stepped out of the way, expecting some sort of fight or argument to happen. Ada, on the other hand, was just staying quiet and holding on to Ghent.

Getting glared at was something Ghent was becoming accustomed to. Ghent continued right on to Jad, so the meeting wouldn't take long to begin. He wasn't sure what to expect. He squeezed Ada's hand again, but felt it would have been unwise to look away from Jad.

Jad stopped just short of Ghent and seemed to puff up his chest. He didn't say anything immediately, just looked at Ada, then back at Ghent and shook his head. "Man, why you? And tonight, of all nights?" He seemed very suddenly disappointed.

?What are you talking about, Tyler?? His tone was genuine, of course. He looked up slightly at this version of his friend and furrowed his brow. Ghent had no idea what Jad was talking about.

"Her!" Jad gestured to Ada, then raised his fists in an attempt to trick the crowd into thinking they were having a violent conversation.

Ada stepped forward and lowered her voice. "Me? No, I'm not me. I mean, I'm me, and he's him, but we're not who you think we are..."

There was a pause as Jad listened to her comment, then he looked back to Ghent. "She's been gone what? Twenty minutes? And she's already trippin'. Just... just take your fall and go home." He seemed exasperated, almost.

?It's no use.? That was to Ada. He shook his head and watched Jad for a moment. ?Tell them to get started, but if you want to beat me, you'll have to earn it.? Ghent rarely showed his competitive side, but he refused to lose for someone simply on principle. He turned and kissed Ada on the cheek.

The manager seemed happy enough, while Jad just shook his head and turned away, though he called back over his shoulder to Ghent. "You never did know when to listen to good advice." And he headed over to his staging area.

Ada watched Jad go, and squeezed Ghent's hand. "Maybe if you win, we can go home." It was a half joke, really. "Good luck!"

?Thanks, sweetie.? He half smiled, both at what he figured was a joke and the well wishes. Ghent headed over to what must have been his staging area, as it was empty. He let out a long breath. This was twice now, within the same time frame, too. Ghent shook his head. He hoped he had something up his sleeve that even he didn't know about.

The rules were blared out of the speakers, but couldn't be easily deciphered. And then the music started, which loud and fast, and most of the lights went out, aside from the stage. The audience was a sea of glowsticks and dancing bodies.

Jad didn't wait to start his dancing. He started slow and precise, moving with each beat, but his dancing was obviously practiced and followed a strict pattern. He wasn't as agile as Ghent, either, so many of his broader movements felt clunky.

He knew hesitation would be bad this time around, so he was in movement a split second after Jad. Ghent moved a different limb to each note on the beat, making him look paradoxically robotic and fluid in the same steps.

Already, the crowd was cheering and beginning to drown out the music, however, Jad had practiced so many times that he didn't have any trouble bustin' his moves without the aid of music. So, when the proper time came, he stuck his moves like a pro.

An idea. As the music shifted, Ghent flipped out into the more open area. A front flip. When he landed, he immediately flipped backwards and landed on his hands, he used his hands to hold his balance and weight while he floor rocked, his legs wide open and spinning like a helicopter.

The crowd seemed awed by the acrobatic moves, as was Ada, and even Jad faltered and nearly landed on his face. Of course, the manager threw his hands into the air and walked away like he already knew the outcome of the match. Despite the strange place, and the threats, and the fighting, Ada was sort of having a good time watching.

Oddly enough, Ghent didn't seem to have to think about any of his movements. He had the idea and his body responded accordingly. He didn't have time to think on it, of course, as he transitioned out of the floor rock by swinging his legs down. He adjusted his position in midair, landing with his hands directly underneath him. He spun his legs in a wide arc around himself, balancing on one hand when necessary.

Jad did his best to keep up, but there was little chance after some of the moves Ghent had pulled off. The crowd's appeal had already shifted, and by the time the song started to come to an end, people were already rushing the stage to declare Ghent the winner, so no one saw Jad faceplant except Ada, who had only glanced for a second. She winced ad tried to stay ahead of the crowd so she wouldn't get trampled. "That didn't look fun..."

Ghent was tired. He hadn't ever used his training in that type of way, that much was certain. When the song ended, he gently put his legs down to the floor and stood up. It was a rare occurrence when Ghent ran out of breath, but there was no mistaking that he had. He was breathing heavily and even hunched over for a moment to try and catch his breath.

Security barely kept the group back, and before anyone could maul Jad, or tackle Ghent. Ada just barely managed to get alongside the other two, and she even held the door that led backstage. The hallways were crowded with people in bright colors, with backstage passes hanging around their necks.

A retreat definitely appeared to be in order. Ghent reached out for Ada's arm as he passed through the backstage door. The grip was gentle, of course, but also firm. Getting separated was not a good idea, he realized.

The Showdown | Part 2

Things were considerably calmer and quieter back stage. It wasn't more than three or four doors before they came upon Ghent's name on a door marked "dressing room." Ada took advantage of the sign and opened the door to the room for Ghent. "Here?"

Ghent nodded a little. ?At least it's quiet back here. That music was starting to give me a headache.? He stepped into the room and looked around. Immediately, a brow shot up. He saw clothes he'd never be caught dead in. Open shirts, more of the tight pants, a headband lying around...and a pink hat.

Ada wasn't sure what she was looking at. "Yeah..." Obviously she wasn't paying much attention to what he was saying. Instead, she started plucking at the horrible clothing, her eyes kind of wide. "I hope my dressing room doesn't look like this..." Like she had room to talk, being dressed like a raver girl.

?I don't know. You look sort of...cute.? Of course, it was rare that Ghent didn't admire Ada's appearance, but he blushed a little all the same. He pulled the zipper on his shirt down a little, as he was fairly hot after all the exercise.

She gave him a look and held up the pink hat to illustrate. "I don't think my cute can make up for this..." Still, she grinned a little and tossed the hat aside. Then she pulled an unbroken glow stick from where it had been tied onto her belt. "Look..." And then she snapped it, and the glowstick turned pink and lit up brightly.

?Oh, that's what those were.? Ghent looked at the glow stick as it lit up. Ghent had never seen anything like it, though it seemed sort of similar to a flare. He folded his arms over his chest.

"They're so... bright." Ada seemed mesmerized for the moment, staring as she moved the pink glowstick around. And then she moved towards the light and flipped the switch, plunging them into darkness, aside from the glow. "Oooh..." She was just absolutely amazed.

Ghent turned his head toward the door as Ada moved the glowstick around. He chuckled a little at her reaction to the object, but it was short lived. He was watching the door, as he thought he could hear someone outside.

There likely was someone outside, because the door opened and someone slipped through into the darkness. When the door closed, there was just the pink light again, and even Ada paused in her "oohing and awwing." She reached out into the dark and grabbed a sleeve. "That's you, right, honey?" It wasn't, of course.

?No, it isn't.? Ghent immediately moved closer to Ada and pulled his knife out of its sheath. His right hand seemed to have no trouble holding the weight of the weapon.

There was a "shhhh" in the dark, but it seemed to be untelling of who was behind it. Ada let go of the arm and backed away, trying to find Ghent in the dark, the pink glowstick hanging off of her wrist from its rope. An instant later, the light flipped on and Jad was standing there, hand on the switch.

Ghent likely looked threatening, as he had his knife out and was slightly crouched, prepared to attack a threat. When he saw Jad, he eased a little bit, but didn't put the knife away.

"I can buy you two a couple of minutes, but you're going to have to go." He didn't comment on the knife, just held out several gold pieces to Ghent. "Just keep her off the drugs, okay? And watch your back, even if you think you're tough sh*t." This was definitely not the same Jad.

Ghent didn't really comment on any of Jad's statements. Something told him it was better to play along. He nodded and took the coins from Jad. He held his hand out to Ada after he put the knife away. ?Will you be all right?? That was for Jad.

"They won't do much to me -- it's your thumbs they want to break." He held the door open for them. "I'm going to lead them back to the Hills, and you two stay at my place for the night, then hop a train." He caught a glimpse of Ada, and frowned. "Take your stuff when you go."

Ghent finally realized that the Ada of whatever this place was seemed to be dating Jad. The realization made him blink a couple of times. He should have been able to figure it out earlier, but he hadn't been paying too much attention. He was more concerned with finding a way home. ?All right. Let's go.? His dark eyes moved to Ada.

Ada felt like ducking her head as she passed Jad, so she did. No words were exchanged, either. Instead, she allowed Ghent to lead her down the hallway and out the emergency exit in the back of the building. "This place..." She wasn't sure what else to say as she stepped out into the cold night.

?Is not to my liking.? Ghent finished the statement, but he wasn't sure that's what Ada was thinking. He paused in his steps and turned around. It was long enough for him to give Ada a kiss. ?I don't know where Tyler would be staying.?

"I have..." Ada paused while she reached down into her bra and pulled out an ID card with her picture on it. "this." She squinted in the dark, trying to read the address, and when she caught a proper glimpse, she had to look around for what street she was on. "It's just up this way... like building after this." It seemed awfully close, but it was the only lead she had, aside from a key that was hidden as well.

?I wish you wouldn't put things there.? She probably hadn't, but watching her made Ghent blush, even it wasn't all that big a deal. ?Let's go then. We shouldn't stay here much longer.?

"I don't have my coat..." In fact, she didn't seem to have a lot of the clothing she needed, but until they made it to Jad's, she would have to deal with it. So, she started down the road towards the address on the ID card. "There aren't many other places to hide things in a getup like this." Which was true, but Ada was being a little impish in mentioning it, as obvious as the thought was.

He followed after her fairly swiftly. ?No, I suppose not, but still. It makes me think about...distracting circumstances.? He certainly shut up after that, though. His hands were slid into his pockets as he walked.

The building was even closer than Ada had expected, and right on the front door there was a list of occupants. Jad's initials were marked next to the number, and Ada pulled the key from her bra as well. "Sorry..." She couldn't help it much, so when she handed the key to Ghent, she felt kind of awkward that it was as warm as her skin. "Uuuh, you open the door."

Of course the warmth of the key made Ghent blush all over again. He nodded and little and sighed. He put the key into the door and unlocked it, stepping past the door and holding it for Ada.

It led into a main hallway, but there only seemed to be a door on each side, and a set of stairs. Jad's apartment was on the right, so Ada stopped next to his door somewhat anxiously. "I feel like a need a shower... all those people, you know? And someone grabbed my butt a bunch of times, but I think she was drunk or something..."

?She?? Ghent leaned back behind Ada, as if he was going to inspect for damage, but suddenly realized what he was doing and righted himself. He lifted his hand and unlocked the door. The key seemed to fit this one as well. ?Well, if your things are here at least you'll have clothes to change into.?

"I hope so. At the very least, I'd like to put on something warmer." She muttered something to herself and pushed the door open after it unlocked. The apartment inside was a large loft-style apartment with wood flooring and high ceilings and decorative molding. Ada blinked and looked around, awed. "Exactly how much money do competitive dancers make...?"

?A good bit, apparently.? Ghent didn't seem quite as taken with the place. He shut the door and locked it again. He felt a little better, now that they were somewhere quiet, even if it was unfamiliar.

Ada immediately found herself the first available seat and tugged her tall shoes off. "That's much better... I never liked heels." She sounded much better too, as she left the shoes and stood back up. "Will you help me find some clothes?" Already, she was moving away to explore.

?All right.? Ghent moved after Ada, though he didn't particularly rush. He was still tired from all of the dancing. He did let his eyes wander around the apartment, though. It definitely was big.

Everything was in its place, for the most part. It wasn't until they got to the master bedroom that things started getting messy. The room was overrun with bright skirts and shirts and jewelry. There was barely a carpet, and it seemed kind of obvious that Jad didn't spend any time in the room. Her writing on the door said, "Stay out" in purple lipstick. "I guess this is it...?" Ada peeked, but didn't seem to want to go in.

Ghent seemed a little amused at Ada's reaction. He smiled. ?I don't think Tyler would be the one wearing skirts, so I think so.? He nodded after speaking, his dark eyes sweeping what he could see of the bedroom behind Ada. ?And that's your handwriting.?

She stepped into the room and flipped on the light. Several blacklights came on, illuminating the room in a strange glowing rainbow world. Ada blinked a couple of times and then stepped in. Almost immediately, parts of her outfit were reacting too. "This must be what it feels like to be stuck in a crayon box." She started rummaging through the clothes, looking for something to wear.

?You might be right.? Ghent stayed in the doorway and leaned against one of the sides. He felt the headache might come back if he stared into the room before him for too long.

"I hope we can go home soon..." It was an idle comment as Ada picked through the clothes. After a short moment, she glanced up at Ghent. "This may take a while. Why don't you get some rest, honey? You saved the night with your amazing dancing, so you deserve it."

?All right.? Ghent didn't need much convincing to go rest. He nodded a little at Ada. ?If you need something, just come wake me, okay?? He smiled gently at Ada from his place in the doorway.

Ada nodded. "Mm. I'll be in soon enough." Where ever "in" was going to be. Thankfully, they didn't have to worry too long, since the time hiccup had only been so long in holding.

Home probably never felt so normal.
