Khalid walked through the small village of his birth. Despite its size, the village was close to the castle of the ruling kingdom, Slynth. Due to this, many of his kind were prosecuted daily. But he had avoided notice so far. He kept quiet in his small little shack, going about his business. He had lasted his whole 18 years minding his own business. There was no point to bringing notice to himself. At least, none if he wanted to keep his life. He saw what happened to those who made themselves known. He didn't want to end up on the empire's blacklist. Not like the Resistance.

Now, that was a troubling thing. The Resistance continued to harbor a community of Special Humans. They continuously waged war with all twelve human kingdoms. But Khalid never saw purpose in it. He was happy with his life. He didn't want to ruin that. And thus, his day continued.

He walked off through the market. It was surprising. Not a lot of people were there. It unnerved him a little. But he continued on. He reached the market and smiled lightly at the one in charge. "I'd just like some milk, please." He handed him some gold. But the man shook his head sadly, moving away. Before Khalid could do anything, he saw armed soldiers coming in from both way from the market. "What...is this...?" he asked, cautiously.

Then he broke out into a run. Like hell he was going to get caught like the others.

She was entirely too excited about her first assignment. It would probably be a little more accurate to say she was nervous though. The two emotions mingled together inside of her, vying over which was more dominant. She couldn't be sure if she would do well or not, but her training was complete at that point. It had been hard leaving Lagoir. She had never been outside her hometown before that point, not even once and though the village she was in wasn't big by any stretch - Lagoir was much tinier. She was already homesick and missed Sanae terribly. She pushed the woman far from her mind as she focused on the purpose of the particular mission she was given.

Some male named Khalid as far as she knew, she didn't know much other than that he was her elder by three years. She worked her way through the market, blending in as one of the other customers and she waited until she saw him take off. She was prior informed as to his appearance so it didn't take much to pick him out. He was also running which was just an added bonus to indicate that he was one of the Specials.

She pushed off after him, giving into the chase immediately. She could feel her heart beating rapidly in her chest while adrenaline coursed through each and every vein. Her hand wavered to her hip, removing one of the hooked daggers concealed underneath her cloak.

She wished that with the assignment, she would have at least been granted the opportunity to wear some more conventional clothing. It was frowned on for women to wear anything different than dresses. If she didn't have to hide before lashing out after her victim then she might have been given the luxury of breeches. Since she was without leggings, she struggled to move amid the difficulty of her dress.

"Wait!"

The word was chosen carefully to distract him and allow her to catch up. After all, it was highly unlikely for someone to shout wait opposed to stop. That coupled with her young, feminine voice was surely enough to slow him down if only for a brief moment.

Khalid slowed slightly, glancing back. He had heard the shout, not taking it as a threat at first. But as he saw her, his hands rose instinctually. He could sense something about her. It came with his powers. And before she could do much else, she would feel herself weighed down. He turned and darted into an alleyway. He sprinted as long as he could, eventually coming out on the other side and instantly running towards a house. He hopped up, his foot catching on the wall and giving him just enough leverage to jump again, making it to the roof.

To say he was scared was an understatement. He was terrified. He had heard what happened to some Specials. He'd be tortured and killed savagely by the humans. He wasn't very fond to find out how they would do so. But he knew it would happen. Thus, he wouldn't let them catch him. He couldn't let them. He'd leave this city and start a new life. Far away from this place...

Though, that thought didn't last him long. So caught up was he in his escape, he had failed to pay attention to what was in front of him. Tripping, he grunted as he hit the ground, roll to the edge of the roof. He slipped off, crashing into a couple of trash bins. "Ugh...damn it..." he muttered before twisting away and getting up. But the crash had attracted the rest of them. By this point, that woman and several of the guards would be able to hear him and easily come to the opening of the alleyway. Turning around, he found himself at a dead end.

So...there was nothing for it, he supposed. Sighing lightly, he turned to the opening, hands held up in surrender. As he saw the girl and the guards, he smiled calmly, masking all his fear. He appeared to be unafraid. "Ah, guess you caught me. I give up," he stated simply, smiling sheepishly at the statement.

Rosemarie felt her whole body slow as though the blood had suddenly changed to lead or something. She found it very hard to move for a while and she began to curse up a storm inside her head as she figured she lost him at that point. After all, an explicative would never leave her mouth by any means. She may have been a hunter, but she was still a lady. As soon as she regained control of her body, she began her pursuit of Khalid.

She had been trained for long distance running in the event that she would have to do any chasing. It took her some time to catch up to where she was as she maneuvered her way down the alley he had disappeared into. She watched as he continued to work his way along and she grunted when he made his way to the roof of one of the buildings. She certainly wasn't agile enough to get up there with him, but he couldn't stay up there forever. She was intent on continuing alongside the building or something until the point that he climbed down.

She lost him at first, it was kind of hard to see the tops of all the buildings to see where he was leaping to. Fortunately, for her, he fell and caused a ruckus in the process. Rosemarie made her way towards the sound and approached Khalid, her hand raised with the dagger in a threatening manner and she closed in on him. Her other hand had grabbed something. The second item looked like some kind of a needle with green liquid in it that looked near radioactive. The liquid was shot into his back in order to dampen his powers until they were able to lock him up.

Rosemarie jerked her head towards the guards and they seized him by the arms and lead the way towards the castle with her bringing up the rear of the entire group.

Khalid smiled a bit, not worrying about the liquid. He had means to counter that. Not that there was any way to escape. He would probably be brought to the dungeon. And, once there, he'd be tortured to an inch of his life before snuffing it out. He wasn't new to the fates of the Specials that got captured. He knew what awaited him. But he kept his head up proudly, not in the least deterred by this.

As they walked into the throne room, they would see the king, sitting upon his throne, looking at the group lazily. Then he smiled, seeing Khalid at the center of it. "Perfect. Guards, you may go," he said, waving them away. "...Rosemarie, stay." He glanced towards the man at his side curiously, the man having appeared somewhere close to a month ago and acting as his personal aide. It was the only council he accepted now a days. The man gave a nod, smiling as he was pleased with the situation.

As the soldiers left, he let the smile grow a bit. "Now then..." He turned back to Khalid and looked him over. "Another Special. The scum of The Nentyarch..." He stood swiftly, striding over to the boy, forced into a kneel by the guards before they had left. "I must ask...what are your powers?"

Khalid shrugged, smiling up at him. "Bringing joy to the world, sir?" he asked innocently. Which earned him a hard backhand from the king.

"Don't trifle with me, boy," the king snarled. "I've been hunting your kind for years. And now, I'll let you face the same fate..." He smiled cruelly at him, but then looked up at Rosemarie. "Girl. You're new, correct? Let me ask your opinion. What should be done with this boy?"

She stood perfectly still with erect posture once she was requested to remain where she already was. She listened as the king and Khalid spoke, not daring to interrupt or offer input until she was spoken to. She knew her place and to speak without specific indication was not bound to look well. She pressed her lips tightly together when addressed with the query, her answer was quick and simple without any explanation.

"Kill him."

Her expression spoke no remorse and she only eyed Khalid with her peripherals immediately upon her response. The brunt of her gaze remained on the king, locked there as she continued to stand politely and wait for further direction.

She had no regret with her answer even though it was mostly said to please the king. Still... Sanae's parents had been killed by Specials before so she had some difficulty in accepting people of that kind. She was sure they weren't all horrible, but she wasn't about to let a possible murderer roam the streets either.

The king smiled. "Good choice..." he said. He drew a sword, holding it towards her. But even as he did, time was slowing down. By the time the king held the sword towards her, he had stopped completely. Though, Khalid still moved as if nothing happened, as did Rosemarie. And, the adviser.

The adviser smiled as he saw this, stepping over to the king and running a finger down the side of his face. "Ah...and so it begins..." The sword was taken by the adviser, flipped in his hand carelessly, and allowed to vanish. It appeared in front of Khalid, stabbed into the ground. "Go ahead. Take that sword up and kill the one who was about to kill you..." Khalid looked confused at hearing the offer. But that just caused him to continue. "This man...he's killed thousands of your kind. And likely he will kill thousands more. You have a choice now to end it. End his genocide of your people."

Khalid hesitated. But then stood. The shackles around his wrists came off like nothing, crashing to the ground behind him. "Nope," he said simply, shrugging. "I have no interest in killing. Honestly? I'd prefer not to kill, if given the chance..."

He sighed, turning to Rosemarie. "Then, what about you? Would you kill this man? Ending the genocide that he causes?" Khalid glanced to her, his eyes clearly hoping she'd deny him. He didn't want to kill anyone. He just wanted to live in peace. And to live in peace with the humans, he wouldn't get anything done by killing a monarch.

She watched as the king's movements became a hindrance until he began to freeze. That didn't really make sense though... The dampener usually worked. It should have worked. She also couldn't get past why, if he had his powers still, that she and the adviser were able to control their movements if the king wasn't. Weren't they a threat too?

And the adviser... He was siding with the Special. That didn't make any sense. They were supposed to eliminate Specials because they were a danger to society and threatened the lives of other people. So was the adviser really an avid believer of what he'd been working against, and was saying what he did to save his own life? Or did he really think that a stop needed to be put to it?

Rosemarie wasn't entirely sure what to make of the situation, she had never been so thoroughly confused before. It astounded her that her whole world had flipped like that though. Were Specials really worth eliminating? She stepped forward and grasped the sword by its hilt before pulling it out of the ground. She stepped forward to stand in front of the king.

She stared at the man before her and sucked in a deep breath. She had never killed before and she wasn't sure if she would either. Would she be helping anything if she murdered the king? Was that really what she should do? If she did then she would be on the run for a while if there was reason to suspect she was part of it. But then...

"I'm sorry, Sanae." The words were whispered quietly and eyes were closed.

Khalid hesitated a moment as he saw her come before him. But his eyes widened as she turned that sword on the king. Lunging forward without a second though, he moved in front of her, grabbing hold of the blade. "No! Don't!" he shouted, trying to stop her. "We don't need to kill for our cause! We'll learn to live in peace! We'll learn to in time!" He tried to get her to stop, but, during the struggling, he came a bit too close to the king. For some reason, the blade was forced out of her hand, showing more strength than the boy should be capable of. But in his turn around, the blade sliced across the king's throat.

Rosemarie stared as the blade of the sword swing in a horizontal arch over the king's shoulders and her eyes didn't open when she heard the head roll off and onto the floor. She dared to peek at the sight before her and she felt her stomach churn with the bones poking up through the slaughtered neck, blood began to ooze out slowly. She really was going to be sick...

The adviser laughed, fading away as time sped up again. "Perfect! Perfect, boy!" he cried out as he faded completely. "Rosemarie! She's killed the king!" The body fell to the ground lifeless and Khalid stared in shock at the body. Then fell to his knees lightly, looking at the sword. It fell from his grasp, landing at the girl's feet as he stared at the body.

Rosemarie would have allowed Khalid to stop her, she wasn't that adamant about taking the life of another that she would have fought against him in order to do it. She wasn't sure why the blade flew from them and proceeded to cut across the king's neck. She blinked, dazed and realized that the adviser was gone. Where could he have gone? Did he have another role in all of this?

But he couldn't' stay in a stupor. Soldiers burst into the room, hearing the commotion. All their weapons were drawn, but Khalid quickly leapt away, moving away from the throne. "What's going on here!?" one guard shouted. "Rosemarie!? What have you done?" They haven't realized how Khalid could have escaped the handcuffs and killed the king. And from the declaration from the adviser, she was the only one they'd suspect. Of course, they'd take Khalid too...but she was now seen as a traitor.

Khalid cursed lightly, pointing towards the window. "Hurry! Out that way! We can get away from them!" he shouted to her. He didn't particularly care about getting away, but he wouldn't let the girl get killed or imprisoned as a traitor. She didn't have to. There was no point to it.

One thing she knew for certain was that she was about to be manacled and locked up. This was not looking good at all. She couldn't even find the words to offer up an explanation for her actions. There was no doubt that there would be a death sentence for her. She wasn't sure how to feel either. She was daunted mostly, by the thought of never seen her mother or Sanae again. That she might have to find some means of escaping and hiding in order to survive. She began to think frantically about what she could say to dissuade the guards.

"I didn't do it," she insisted and jerked her head towards Khalid as well as pointing a finger his way. "The Special did it!"

She was sure they would believe her over a Special, but that also meant that she would have to find some of helping him if they chose to trust her.

The guards seemed to slowly grow puzzled, not sure how to take this. But one soldier broke away, drawing his sword. "The penalty for treason is death!" he cried out, holding the blade up as he was about to kill her. Before he could, the blade froze in mid air. Khalid grabbed her wrist and tugged her away before the blade continued its passage, clanging to the ground. The guards started to move forward, not sure how to take it with one guard choosing to stand against her and the Special helping her. But they were prepared to kill both of them if it meant the public safety.

Without thinking, Khalid cursed and darted off, dragging Rosemarie along with him. He took a step on the window sill and launched himself off. He pulled the girl towards him, moving so his back struck the ground first and absorbed most of the fall., But then he groaned and rolled away from her. Looking up at the window, that same guard that had moved forward launched himself from the window.

Landing before them, Khalid held his hands up, the man's movement growing slower. He growled from beneath his armor, grabbing the helmet and tear it off him. But, as it fell to the ground, the rest of his body went still, held in place. "How dare you..." he growled menacingly.

But the man in front of them was nothing compared to the rest of the castle. Dark creatures swooped down, attacking the soldiers. They were being kept busy by what looked like Demons, making an assault on the castle. But, besides that, there were also Angels. They were battling each other with the castle as the battleground. "What the hell is going on here..." Khalid murmured to himself. He glanced at Rosemarie, but then decided she could handle herself.

Without out another thought, he darted past the man and ran for the edge of the courtyard to the edge of a dark forest.

The realization that Rosemarie was being pulled away from the guards sunk in and she tried to make sense of where Khalid was taking her. She didn't realize they were falling from one of the windows, panic caused her chest to swell and she closed her eyes tightly to brace herself for the fall. Even if the man below her managed to take in most of the shock, her body still absorbed some of it and she hated the feeling. She threw herself off him immediately and pushed to her feet.

The battle before her sent her spiraling into confusion as well and it wasn't much later that she realized Khalid had ditched her. Surely he wouldn't just leave her there. It was his fault she was in this situation, wasn't it? Her feet began to move against the ground and she struggled to catch up with him.

"Wait!"

The word escaped her with different intents and purposes than the time before. Now that she was a traitor, she needed to get away and go into hiding. She did not want to be alone in such a predicament.

"Khalid!"

It occurred to her that while she knew his name, he might not know hers. That is unless he was paying attention when the king had spoken it. Either way, she was attempting to grab is attention at that very moment.

Khalid didn't stop, forcing her to follow him. He moved into the darkened forest, turning around then to see her coming. "If you want to escape, come this way!" he shouted. Honestly, he had no idea where this forest led. He just knew that it gave him more chance to escape than running in open view through the kingdom. So he hid himself in the forest, waiting for her.

It was a dark and foreboding place. The branches were leaved, but the leaves were black. The sun was blot out by the dense foliage, keeping anything from really lighting the way. The further they moved in, the further they would be embraced in darkness. Khalid waited for Rosemarie to catch up and then sighed softly. "...For what it's worth...sorry it turned out that way...I only planned on escaping myself..." he muttered quietly, glancing away from her.

He paused a moment as he saw the soldier come out, stopping at the edge of the forest. His armor was gone, showing a loose white robe and two large white wings. An Angel. "Come here and meet your judgment, cowards."

Khalid hesitated, but then shook his head, taking Rose's hand and dragging her along with him. "I'm sorry...but we should get moving...Stay away from these guys..." he muttered, picking up the pace as the Angel's voice rose in volume.

Normally, Rosemarie wouldn't have taken up with men she didn't know. She would never have compromised her safety by threatening the king's life either. She didn't know what she had been thinking. Something had apparently come over her and she didn't understand just what it was. She didn't utter any words to the man at first, but her fingers tightened around his when his hand reached to grab for her.

Her eyes struggled to adjust to her surroundings as they gradually became more shrouded in the darkness. Her breathing was labored and frantic and she attempted to slow or catch it while she clung to the only semblance of safety in the near vicinity. It was evident by the way her fingers shook with the tiniest of tremors, and the way the rest of her body shook with involuntary movements, that she had never been overcome with quite the amount of trepidation as she was at that very moment.

Slender digits continued to squeeze tighter while her feet worked a faster rhythm to keep up with Khalid.

Khalid slowly began to ease his pace as the darkness surrounded them. They could just barely see their surrounding. And the rest was shrouded in shadows. The light from the edge of the forest had long been extinguished...so that just left them alone. He glanced around at the surrounding forest and then gulped lightly. "I wonder if this was such a good idea in the first place..." he murmured before starting forward again.

He had squeezed her hand reassuringly, feeling her tremors and wanting to calm her down. He continued forward, trying to figure out where to go. "Er...We should keep moving through here...We'll come out on the opposite end of the forest and figure out where to go from there..." he told her, trying to get somewhat of a decent plan. "We'll be away from the soldiers and the Angels and the Dem-" He froze as he noticed a low sound. A hissing sound from all around them.

A single creature slithered out from the trees. It had the body of a black snake, growing up into a snake-like torso and a snake-like head. It basically looked like the largest snake either of them would ever have seen, the scaly body slithering easily along the ground. "Er...maybe...not away from the Demons..." Khalid said, starting to step back, but keeping in front of Rosemarie. He was almost protective of her, despite what had transpired earlier.

"Humanssssss?" the snake creature hissed as more began to come out around them. "What do you think you are doing here?" It moved closer, going around them to look them over. "Maybe we'll get a meal..."

"No..." Another one that had come out. A much larger one than that first one. Obviously the leader. "Lord Daemossssss requesssssts their presssssence." Khalid glanced back at the girl, checking to see how she was dealing with it. His powers were ready to protect both of them if he needed to. He wanted to make sure both of them could get out of this forest alive.

Rosemarie bit her trembling lap and though her palms were growing sweaty for a myriad of reasons, she didn't let go. She did relax somewhat with the comforting grasp of her companion's hand. She held on even when Khalid moved to stand in front of her, hanging on as though she feared she would lose her life if she let go. The serpentine voices that greeted her caused chills to shoot up her spine and the fear assaulted her once more, crushing her with the resurgent wave of terror.

She wasn't sure whether this... Daemos, or whatever his name was, intended to kill them or not. She had no idea what purpose he would have with them. The knowledge that Khalid was a Special did help her somewhat. She wasn't sure why she suddenly trusted him, but she was sure that he could use his powers to prevent them from dying should it come down to that.

A smile faltered to her lips and her steps were uneasy. She gave Khalid's hand a squeeze and stepped forward suddenly, her chin was lifted with a new born confidence. Her eyes rested on the largest of the Demons, "Would you care to lead the way then?"

The beast snorted. "It would take daysssss to walk..." it replied. "Hop on..." It bowed its head to let the two on. Khalid hesitated a moment, but then hopped on, holding his hand out to help Rosemarie on as well. Once both were situated, the Demon took off. It was surprisingly fast. It slithered through the forest with blinding speed, weaving around the trees easily enough. The other Demons followed around them.

As they reached a clearing, it was a dreadful sight. Many Demons gathered, not just the snake ones. In the center, half a circle of seats were placed with Demons seated all around them. The biggest throne was in the center, made purely of what looked like bones. A man with dark hair sat there, his dark armor melded nicely onto his skin. He smiled cruelly as he saw them. "These are the two that invade my land?" he asked.

"Yes, my lord..." the snake demon responded, bowing and slithering back.

The Demon who would be assumed to be their king, looked them over carefully. "I wonder...I have an interest in you," he said, placing a finger on his chin. "My name is Daemos. I'm the ruler of these Demons. I'd like you to give me reason not to kill you." He snapped his fingers and several demons stepped forward. They were large, burly creatures that looked like they could crush boulders, let alone a few human bones.

However, Khalid proved against his normal personality, puffing out his chest and stepping forward. Inwardly, he was cringing at the dark aura this man emanated. He was fearsome to simply look at. But the boy didn't show that, staying protectively in front of Rosemarie. "I'll kill you if you try," he said confidently. Though, he never seemed to back fighting. "I'll kill all of you if I have to. We just want to pass through."

The Demons around them snarled, They didn't like this boy's comments. But the king just regarded him carefully. Before bursting out into laughter. "Ah, you have a spine, boy. That's good. What's your name?"

"Khalid," he answered evenly.

"...Well then, Khalid. I think I have a job I'd like you to take," he said, smiling. "You see, my son was kidnapped by your kind. The Specials. I want you to infiltrate the Resistance hideout. I want you to save my boy and bring him back here. In return, we grant you passage. And our support."

Rosemarie let go of Khalid's hand only after the creature instructed them to move onto its back. She took his hand once more though only for assistance in moving up behind him. Her arms snaked around his waist and she held herself to him. Her eyes closed and her cheek pressed against his back while she nestled herself closer.

She dropped off the serpentine beast once they stopped and listened while the leader spoke with Khalid. Only when the request was made did she step up next to Khalid and start whispering in his ear, "Let's do it." She was prompted to her decision by the thought of what would happen were they to refuse. If they declined the offer then it was likely that they would be killed then and there. This assignment, or whatever it was, was probably their only way out.

Khalid gave a small nod. Looking up the king, he forced himself not to cringe. He was very intimidating. That much was obvious. The king of demons would definitely be intimidating. Just the fact that Khalid could stand up to him was to be commended, even if his insides felt like mush for doing so. "We'll do it," he said. "Where would we find him?"

"At the Resistance's base," Daemos replied with a smile. "Where else? You'll head there to join their ranks and grab my boy when you leave. We'll protect you from them." He laughed lightly. "Shouldn't be hard for a Special. But maybe this girl should stay here...We could give her something to occupy her time with..." He looked her over, but before he could say another word, Khalid stepped forward again.

"Touch her and die," he stated simply. There were growls. But a few of the Demons wilted as they realized their movement was being impeded. Most of them were at this point. "Give us a way to the fortress."

Daemos smiled condescendingly, amused at the challenge. "Of course. Slynth." A small snake demon slid up to them, bowing. Khalid was allowed on. It was much smaller than the other one. But,not wanting to be separated from Rosemarie with what the Demon had said, he held out his hand to help her on as well.

She had already thought that she would be accompanying Khalid with the task that he was asked to do. She felt her stomach churn with disgust and her face crumpled immediately at the thought of her staying back there with them. It wasn't so much that she didn't feel safe there as much as it sounded like there were suggestive undertones with what had been said.

Rosemarie beamed at Khalid when he defended her and was so sure that there was no possible way he would have left her with them. Her hand reached forward to take his and she pulled herself up behind him. She didn't really like the method of travel to be honest and would rather have walked even if it were far, but she wasn't going to complain either. She knew better than that.

"Thank you," she murmured in hushed tones to her only ally.

Khalid smiled at her, giving a short nod. "I don't expect you to help me," he said. "You're a human soldier. The Specials won't like it much. So...you're welcome to leave if you wish it." He shrugged, letting the snake demon take them. It wasn't that long before they broke out of the surrounding forest. Khalid had to wince against the sudden light that shined down on them, but quickly slipped off the beast, holding his hand up to allow Rosemarie to come down as well.

"Pleassssse...ssssssave masssssster..." Slynth hissed out, looking to the two. Khalid hesitated. He didn't intend to follow through indefinitely yet. But, the tone was a bit pleading. Not like that arrogant king. So he gave a nod. Satisfied, Slynth retreated back into the forest.

Khalid then turned back to the girl he now traveled with, smiling at her. Before them was a large mountain. At the base of that mountain, a platform stood with a giant boulder held firmly against the rock wall. "Now...I won't make you come with me. You're free to go from here. I can't ask you to do more...You should be safe now if you can escape to another kingdom and take up service there."

Rosemarie listened to what he had to say at first then climbed off the serpentine creature quickly and eagerly. She didn't really appreciate having to sit on the scaly surface. She didn't like reptiles as it were, but those things were huge... That and she got the feeling that one would randomly turn her into a meal. She tried to push thoughts of her being devoured out of her mind to focus on what Khalid was saying though watched the beast leave in the process.

"I don't really care... I don't want to be left alone." She pressed her lips tightly together and drew them into her mouth awkwardly. Her hand moved up to her hair to brush it back. "I'm with you though, aren't I?" She inquired before continuing on her train of thought, "I am only one soldier. I am hardly a threat to them and there is probably more than one special there as well. I'm sure... I'm sure even you would be able to stop me. It's not like I have any of the dampener with me now."

She eyed the scenery around them and attempted to judge how long it would take them to reach their destination and the length of time it might take them to get back. She didn't realize how much time had passed, but she ignored her stomach. It only occurred to her then that she hadn't eaten since the morning, but eating was the furthest thing from her mind. She was more concerned with what all was going to happen. Where were they going to sleep when the time came? And if it did come time for them to turn in, would one of those snake things be with them? She really did not like that idea.

She knew though... that even if it were just her and Khalid at that point, she probably wouldn't be able to sleep well. She was entirely too frightened by everything that had happened. Surely something would sneak up and attack them in their sleep or something.

Khalid hesitated a moment. "It's more than just you being a threat. You can leak information. They'll see that," he said, but shook his head. "However, if you don't want to be alone...I won't stop you from coming along either." He smiled confidently at her, trying to appear more confident than he actually felt. He never liked fighting. It wasn't his strong suit. So how much good could he be? "I'll protect you if anything happens."

He turned towards the mountain, climbing up to the platform and moving over to the boulder. "The Demons said the entrance should be right outside the forest..." he commented, moving over to the boulder. He placed his hand on it and stepped back quickly as it moved slightly. It rolled to the side effortlessly, revealing an opening in the mountain. Standing inside was a single man with a mask covering his face.

He was dressed simply in a black tunic and black pants, going barefoot with the mask covering his features. He seemed plain enough beside that purely white mask. Though, it unnerved Khalid a bit to see him waiting on them like that. The man tilted his head to the side, looking curious. "Who are you and what do you want?"

"...My name is Khalid," he said, smiling. "This is Rosemarie. We're on the run from the humans...I'd like to join your group." He tried to keep the smile, not sure if this would work.

But the man simply nodded in response. "You'll meet with our master then." He turned and walked into the cave, expecting them to follow. Khalid instantly moved forward, only glancing back to check if Rosemarie was following.

Rosemarie bobbed her as he spoke and chose not to argue her thoughts aloud. She didn't figure it was the best time to do that. Although, she had reason for them to side with her. Didn't she? It was mostly her fault that the king was dead. Well... partly. The adviser could have been to blame too, she supposed. Either way, she was on the run from the humans as well. They would send her to the gallows or something if they found her. That's what she thought anyways.

She tried not to seem as daunted as she felt. Khalid was the closest she had ever been to a Special. If she had met one before him or been in the presence of one then she hadn't known it, but this was more. Way more... What if they tried to get some kind of revenge on her for having worked with the guards? She'd been trained to hunt their kind after all.

Khalid had promised to protect her though and she really wanted to believe he would. She thought she was safer with him then by herself anyways. At least he could slow other people down so that they couldn't touch her, but would he be able to hold off all the Specials there if it came down to it? Not a thought she wanted to think deeply on.

Her feet moved and she trailed after the two men, her eyes moved around and she prepared to adjust to the darkness of the cave should it not be lit up at all.

Khalid hid his own fear, walking confidently behind the man. The cave was lit up well enough, allowing them to see. It was carved expertly to form this cave with several hallways branching off from this main one. However, they didn't stop until they came to one in particular. Within the branched out hallway, a door stood. It was much taller than some of the hallways and crafted with expert precision, a golden giant carved into the center as if it were raising from the ground itself.

The man stepped forward, knocking. And the door swung open. As they were allowed entrance, they found this room was decorated a bit more than the other areas they'd seen. It had a rug on the floor as well as a desk. Behind that desk, a monster of a man stood. He was huge, looking to easily be able to grasp a man's head in his hand. His stormy gray eyes looked them over carefully for a moment. "These are the two that come to us, Geisho?" he asked.

Geisho nodded with a bow. This just caused the giant to rise from his desk and walk around to them. He looked over them carefully. "You're both Specials?" he asked. "What are your powers?"

Khalid spoke up before Rosemarie would have the chance to. "We prefer not to flaunt our powers," he stated, lying on Rose's behalf. They wouldn't accept a human. The Resistance was known for violence and believing all humans were scum for their disrespect towards Specials. "We just wish shelter from the humans that are chasing us."

The man looked him over carefully before snorting. "I need to know so I can know to trust you," he said. "Humans can easily hide within our ranks, posing as Specials."

Khalid hesitated there. "...If you won't accept us, we'll leave. We just need a place to hide from the humans. I thought the Resistance would honor a fellow Special's plight..." he replied, frowning as he turned around. "Come on, let's go, Rose."

But, before they could, the giant of a man sighed. "My apologies. But we have word of a human in our midst. We just can't determine who it is. It makes us...less easy to accept new recruits," he said. "My name is Gargan. I'm the leader of these forces. Can you tell me what happened?"

"We killed a human king for trying to capture us. We just need a place to hide. I don't like to fight...but he left me no choice." He sighed.

Gargan looked them over again, but then shook his head. "Geisho, take them to the cafeteria. They can fill their bellies and then head to their room," he said. Geisho nodded, heading towards the door and holding his arm out to allow them to head through.

Rosemarie looked at Khalid skeptically, the massive size of the man who spoke to them was unnerving. She tried not to stare because it was impolite. She uttered no words on her behalf and chose to remain silent. Khalid's claim that she was among their kind caused her to peer at him for a moment, her eyes widened only for a moment. It felt so wrong to let him lie for her like that. She really didn't think it was a good idea to voice the entire truth. It wasn't a complete lie though, most of what Khalid said was the truth...

She studied the one known as Geisho and waited for him to finish leading the way after she moved through the door. Rosemarie's feet never allowed her to stray too far from her companion's side. Were they to get her alone, she didn't know what would happen. What if they tried to get her to show off her supposed powers without them? Then what? They probably wouldn't hear her out and then it would only cause them to go after Khalid as well for sneaking her in with him. Unless... Unless he pretended to think that she was a Special the whole time and said that she must have deceived him as well. Would he do that though? She really didn't want to find out any of that. It was better if she just kept close.

She wondered... Did Specials eat different? She was a little uneasy about what kinds of food this cafeteria would hold. What if they ate bugs and rats, and other nasty things?

As they arrived at the cafeteria, they were allowed to take their food and sit down, left alone by Geisho as he went back to report to Gargan. The room was very large, several tables carved of stone set up with other people eating there. Some didn't look the same, whether it be size or look that made them different. But many still looked like an ordinary human. If it weren't for the fact that it was a Resistance base, no one would be able to tell the difference.

The food wasn't that different either. By no means great. It was nothing like what would be served at the castle. But it was decent enough. Khalid grabbed a plate for himself, letting Rosemarie do the same before taking a seat with her at a table without any Specials around. He smiled at her afterward. "Sorry about that...we'll just have to be careful here," he said, scratching the back of his head. "I didn't think it wise to give everything. They...don't see humans like I do. They probably wouldn't listen to us."

She followed suit, loading her plate with food before following Khalid. The food was not as bad as she had expected. There was nothing foreign in there and nothing was moving around either. She wasn't entirely sure why she expected Specials would eat odd thing to begin with. They did blend in among her people without any problem. What she loaded her plate with was actually a lot similar to what she had eaten during her training process.

She slid in close to Khalid as though afraid to separate herself too far from him, she began to whisper softly. "You don't think they'll try and make me demonstrate a skill, do you?" She asked. They needed to be prepared, she had to know what would happen if some things came to light. "What do we do if they force us? Do we leave without finishing our assignment, or make a run for it?"

It didn't hurt to offer her own suggestions either, "If you could get them to believe I was your sister then you could claim that we had the same skill... I'm sure they'd catch on eventually, but maybe not?"

Khalid paused a moment, but shook his head. "I can handle it if things come to that," he stated. "Even among siblings, the same ability is rare. Especially finding two of the same close together. It'd be too conspicuous. But I have ideas to keep you from getting caught." He smiled a bit, taking her hand under the table and squeezing it a little. "I told you I'd protect you. I thought this through."

He turned back to his food after that, eating some of his food. He ate relatively quickly, feeling a bit hungry after everything they'd been through. The entire time, he was scanning the room to see the other kinds of Specials. There was one who was just playing with a few cards. Another with a blindfold over his eyes, sitting cross legged on the bench. They didn't all looked normal though. One was hairy, looking more like a monkey than a boy.

After a bit, Khalid sighed, finishing his food. Once Rosemarie was finished, he started to get to his feet. "Shall we go find our room then?" he asked, smiling at her.

Rosemarie nodded her head slowly, she didn't know a whole lot about Specials so the thought of possessing a similar ability seemed possible. Since he informed her she was wrong of that assessment, she didn't bother to offer any ideas up. She didn't have much in the way of what they could do given certain situations. She would just let Khalid deal with it all, he seemed to have it all figured out. She only hoped that some of the Specials didn't possess certain abilities...

If one of them had heightened hearing then they would surely know or if they could read her mind somehow. Then there was also the possibility of being able to sense whether someone was lying. Even the ability to sense emotions could leave them exposed if someone had such an ability. There were so many possibilities... Sure, Rosemarie was thinking too hard on it all. What was to be expected when she was afraid of being found out and killed for hiding among them. Her, a soldier, who's job was to kill them all. She didn't plan on taking any of their lives or capturing them, but they wouldn't care about it.

She finished her food slower than Khalid though she didn't really pick at it either, she needed her strength. She was going to need all the substance and energy she could get if she was required to run for some reason or another. She glance up with his query, "Yeah... Do you know where it is?" She wasn't sure if he had been told when she wasn't paying attention. That Geisho man could have slipped him a key or something while her gaze lingered on something else.

Rosemarie wondered if she was supposed to share a room with Khalid or if she would have one by herself. She didn't really care as long as she didn't have to share a room with another Special, and by that she meant someone who wasn't Khalid. She didn't want to risk the situation, she wasn't sure what would come of it.

Khalid shook his head slowly. "I figured someone would tell us soon..." he said, walking out of the cafeteria. As they stepped out though, there were four Specials waiting out there. One was Geisho, arms crossed as he watched them. Another was a boy with pale eyes, seeming to look through them as he saw the two. Another was a large man, metal covering his body. The last was a small boy, smiling cheerfully as he saw the two.

Geisho sighed a bit. "From Gargan's orders, you two will be sharing a room. We don't trust you completely yet. And because of that, we want to keep any eye on you easier," he explained. "You'll find a bath inside the room and anything else you'll need. He also wants you to demonstrate your powers tomorrow. He'd like your help with some jobs, but needs to know how best to place you two into groups."

Khalid hesitated, but nodded. "Unavoidable, I guess..." he said with a sigh. "Only thing I ask is that we get placed in the same group. We know each others' powers and its easier for us to work together than with another Special I don't know that well." He smiled, but Geisho shrugged. It would be up to Gargan anyway.

"If you'll follow me...I'll take you to your room." Geisho turned and started to walk off, the other three following him.

She looked over the small group assembled together and she felt the panic crush her chest and swell within her in a turbulent wave. She was going to have to demonstrate her skill the next day? How was that going to work? Sure, Khalid said he had it all planned out so did that mean she was actually going to have to do it? Would they be able to finish their assignment before then or...

She chose to push it from her mind. The bath sounded like it would be nice... She could use it to relax and she was probably filthy after the day she had. For the most part, she had remained silent. She couldn't resist the question that escaped her though, "Geisho... Do you think we could get a change of clothes?" There was a pause and she looked down at her dress which was caked in dirt and torn in all sorts of places from the adventure they had. "We're kind of filthy," she explained in case he hadn't cared to notice.

Geisho regarded her for a moment. But then nodded. "Yes. It's been provided," he said, leading them down the hall. They were brought to a room soon after. It was relatively small, considering. But big enough for the two of them to deal with. A doorway led off to the bathroom, a large bath built into the ground. Besides that, there was nothing really to speak of. A single bed and no door to block the bathroom off. It was obviously meant for only one person.

Khalid raised an eyebrow, but the others were already off, telling them to rest up for tomorrow. They'd get their assignment then. The boy then just went back to staring. "Er...Okay. I'll take the floor. You can have the bed," he said quietly, glancing at the doorway to the bathroom. "And...er...I'll stay in here...and stare at the wall while you take a bath..." His face flushed a little, embarrassed at the situation. He hadn't thought about this happening...

She didn't really mind the thought of sharing a room, but what she saw? It was far too... intimate. It wasn't as though they were both female. Had she been with Sanae or her mother then she wouldn't have minded, but she hardly knew the man and it wasn't as though he were her husband or something. He was far from it. She stared at the sight before her and found herself speechless for a few moments.

"Eh... I don't really have to bathe... I mean..." What if he peeped? Men were perverts! He wouldn't be able to resist, she was certain of that! She glanced over her shoulder. The Specials probably couldn't afford to accommodate them with separate rooms even if they weren't trying to keep their eye on them. "I'll just... just..." She did still need to change, she couldn't sleep in the bed with clothes as dirty as hers were. She eyed him skeptically. "Well, you'll just have to promise not to watch!" Her cheeks were a stark crimson hue.

"O-Of course," Khalid said immediately, defensively. He walked over to the wall and plopped down in front of it, sitting cross legged as he did. His arms crossed too, bowing his head a bit. He could use the time to think anyway. "What do you take me for anyway? I'm not a pervert. I'm above such degradable acts..." he muttered a bit from his corner, not turning in the least. He also had made sure to put himself in a corner that had a bad angle to the bathroom. She would have privacy unless he openly moved.

While he sat there though, he started to think of how to trick the Specials. He had ideas. But that was it. It wouldn't last forever. And for them to work at all, he needed to stay with her at all times. His powers would be able to compensate for both of them if he stretched it. He just need to make sure he was near her. Besides that, she could say she didn't like using the powers unless absolutely necessary. It would work out. Somewhat anyway.

Rosemarie tried to clear her head of everything that had gone on with the king and the guard, the Demons, and now the Specials. It had been a long day, what she really needed was to relax. She eyed Khalid suspiciously before preparing her bath. She waited until the last possible second to strip herself of her garments and then threw herself into the large tub immediately to submerge herself in the water and hide from his wavering gaze if he chose to look over.

She washed herself quickly and pulled on fresh clothes after, she didn't linger around in the tub as she might have were Khalid replaced with Sanae or her mother. Oh... and how her mother would throw a fit if she knew what was happening at that very moment. She needed to find a way to contact her, but that was out of the question. Khalid would probably scold her if he caught her trying to send a letter anyways. She moved to seat herself on the bed and peered at him owlishly. "You can look now."

Khalid hadn't moved from his spot at all during her bath, simply sitting cross legged in the corner to keep from seeing anything accidentally. When she spoke, he glanced back before turning himself around, staying seated. "You could've taken longer. I don't mind sitting here if you want to relax." He shrugged, leaning back to rest his back on the corner of the room they were in. He really wouldn't have minded. He hadn't looked at all. Sure, he'd been tempted, but he kept himself thinking on other stuff to occupy himself until she was done.

After a moment, he paused and then shrugged. "I suppose I'll take a bath too. You can take the bed tonight...I don't mind sleeping on the floor," he said. Internally, he winced at the thought. He usually at least had something to soften the floor if he had no choice but to sleep on it. But he was trying to be polite. She'd lost more than him at the moment. She worked for the kingdom and her liege had died, leaving her on the run from her own kingdom. He'd always assumed he'd get caught eventually so he lost much less in that regard. He figured, the least he could do, was be polite to her. Though, it just came naturally do do so regardless.

Rosemarie nodded her head absently, "It's fine." She proceeded to turn her back to him so that he could only bathe. She should have guessed that he would want to, but it only made the situation seem even more awkward. She didn't argue with him about sleeping on the floor. She might have, but if such an argument were to take place then it could wait until after his bath. Fingers were raked through damp hair absently and she suddenly wished that Sanae or her mother were there. She missed them terribly.

What made it even worse was that Slynth wasn't even her kingdom, Lenore was. She was on loan from her king. When he found out... She couldn't bear to think of what the consequences would be. She only hoped that her family wouldn't have to pay for her actions. Her hand moved to wipe at her eyes which were steadily growing wet, she didn't produce any of the sounds that went with crying though so she wasn't completely worried about disturbing Khalid with it. She calmed herself quickly and dropped her legs over the side of the bed to kick at the air and let them thud back against it. She didn't seem to phased about carrying on a conversation with him while he bathed for she started talking to him and well... at least she wasn't looking. "Do you have any family, Khalid?"

Khalid undressed quickly, submerging himself in the water as she had. He wasn't that fond of the idea of someone he barely knew seeing him either. Even if guys were more commonly perverts. But he let himself relax after that, satisfied that she wouldn't see anything anyway. He set to washing himself and just relaxing in the warm water, his eyes closing as he relaxed against the edge of the tub.

When he heard her voice, he glanced over. The question made him frown slightly, but then he smiled easily. "I suppose I probably do," he said. "Don't know any of them though. I assume they found out I had powers and left me. My parents that is. As for siblings...No clue, really." He shrugged. "Never really thought about it. I live on my own for the most part." He hesitated a moment, but then smiled at her. "What about you? Do you have any family?"

She could see humans being resentful towards Specials, but someone's own parents? She didn't really understand that. A near perpetual frown of her own formed when she thought it over. What she had known about the Specials suddenly seemed so wrong, Khalid hardly seemed dangerous at all and if he had planned to kill her then he would have already. It wasn't like he had a use for her unless he intended to use her as some bargaining chip later on. She tried to clear her head of that and to focus on answering his question.

"Just my mother and Sanae..." She leaned back while her legs continued to move in opposite directions and took their turns coming to smack against the side of the bed lightly. "I was an illegitimate child and my father... he was already married and a powerful man. It's not like he would have looked bad for claiming me because men can get away with whatever they want, but he didn't want me included in his life so he cut himself off from my mother as soon as he found out." She grinned for a moment, "My mother won't even tell me his name."

"Huh..." Khalid murmured, closing his eyes again. He didn't like those types of people that much. He hated those who would separate themselves from their children for the sake of prestige. It made it worse that this wasn't even about prestige, simply not wanting to deal with it. It made him a little angry. But he quickly forced that down, ignoring it. Not like he could do anything about it. And would it even matter? He barely knew the girl. It shouldn't effect him that much to begin with.

Sighing lightly, he glanced over to her again. "At least you had your mother, I suppose," he said, smiling. "It's a pain in the ass trying to make a living on your own. Especially when you're only a kid." He winced a bit. "Took me a while before I managed to get enough hold of my powers to live on my own without begging or stealing..." He shrugged lightly. "What about Sanae? Who's that?" He looked curious now, waiting for her to answer.

Rosemarie listened intently, slowing the motion of her legs until they came to a stop. She felt her mouth curve when he asked about Sanae. "She's my best friend and has always been there for me, I've never known what I would do without her. She is truly the most amazing woman that I have ever known."

She held a lot of love and respect for Sanae, that was for sure. She shifted to lay down on the bed, her body continued to remain turned away from him and she stared at the wall ahead of her. The bed was far more comfortable than she had thought it would be. The ones that she had switched to sleeping in during the course of her training hadn't been nearly as pleasant to lay in. The change wasn't something she planned on getting used to though.

Rosemarie didn't think that they would be there too many days if they even spent more than one night there to begin with. They were only supposed to be there long enough to grab someone. She thought that was the extent of their reason for being there anyways. Were they supposed to grab a Special though or someone being held captive? From what it sounded like, they were there for a Demon. She hadn't seen any Demons yet.

"Ah...Sounds like a wonderful person," he commented, glancing at her with a smile. "I would love to meet her. You obviously hold her in high regard..." He sunk below the water for a moment, but then came back up, shaking his head. He slowly crawled out of the tub, drying himself off before changing into some of the clothing they had out for them. It was a plain blue shirt with plain blue leggings. Nothing big, but he didn't expect much from the Resistance.

As he came back in, he smiled at her. "You can turn around now. I'm decent at least," Khalid commented. He hadn't put the shirt on yet, letting his hair dry before he would. His body was nearly flawless, but for a scar cut above his breast, right above where his heart would be. He sat down against the wall next to their bathroom and rested his head on the wall. "But that raises the question. Why stick with me? You sound like you have a family that loves you. Why are you staying here when you have the chance to return to them instead?"

She shrugged her shoulders at first and only rolled over onto her other side to look at him when the question escaped him. She lifted a brow at first. Was he really that daft?

"They think I murdered the king, and why shouldn't they? I almost did." Her lips pursed tightly together and she shook her head as best as one can when the bed hinders some of the movement. "They'll be looking for me. I'm wanted for murder and the way they'll look at it... I helped a Special escape. Even if they don't send me to the gallows, I'm likely to spend a deal of time behind bars. So why wouldn't I stay with you? At least I'm not running by myself then..."

A heavy sigh escaped her, "I really don't think that going home is the best decision for me right now... I mean... Don't you think that's one of the first places that they'll look? Lagoir's a very small village as it is. I can't really risk hiding there. I just hope that my king is a little more sympathetic than yours and won't punish my family for my mistakes."

Khalid winced lightly at the comment. "...Sorry..." he murmured. "I didn't mean to cause you trouble...I don't even know what happened there...I didn't do anything to slow the king down. I was prepared to die..." He scratched the back of his head. "I didn't mean to drag you into something like this..." He sighed, curling up a bit as his knees came to his chest. He felt terrible over the fact. Sure, she had wanted to kill him. But that didn't make him want to harm her in anyway. It just made him more cautious. He'd run, but he'd never fight. He always figured it would just prove everyone right about the Specials and make him less likely to be believed.

After a moment, he glanced towards the door before looking to her. "How far is Lagoir?" he asked. "Maybe we can visit. Not long, but just to check if your family is okay. Least I can do for causing you so much trouble like this. If we'll be getting missions, I'll take a detour there for some other mission and pay a visit to make sure they're being treated alright..."

"Why would you apologize when your life was about to be taken?" She wasn't entirely sure where he got off saying he was sorry when she was the one who had told the king to kill him in the first place. If anything, it was her who should be sorry.

Her tone became more stern when he suggested an excursion from their assignment, "We are here for a reason, Khalid. We have to get that boy and... There's no point in being here for that reason if we're going to change course for Lagoir. Besides... I told you, they'll be looking for us in Lagoir so it's not such a good idea and the journey is a long one. It would take at least five days to get there and that's only if we go by carriage and without pause. It doesn't really seem like a good idea to me. Let's just stick with what we're doing for now."

Khalid hesitated. "I suppose you're right," he said, shrugging as he slumped over to lie down on the floor. It looked uncomfortable. And felt even more so with nothing but the cold stone to sleep on. He was adamant about letting the girl take the bed for the night. "And I apologize because I meant to die there. Killing the king only proves everyone right about us..." He sighed quietly. "I don't want to be known for that. I would have just rolled over and died. Smiling to the last. Even if I died, maybe people would begin to see that we aren't all like that..." He laughed mirthlessly. "Worked out great, huh?"

Sighing quietly, he let himself recede into his thoughts as he lay there, his head cushioned with his arm. He closed his eyes, but he was still listening to Rosemarie if she spoke. "And, why would we trust Demons? I'll look into the situation here. I never intended to definitely help them..." He shrugged. "Yes, they deserve the same chance we Specials deserve. So I'll check. But, depending on circumstances, I'll go back on what I said I'd do for them."

Rosemarie didn't realize that there was a method to his madness. She didn't really think it through that the king's death only gave the people further reason to hunt Specials. She was more concerned about the prices she would pay as a result. That must have been part of why he had tried to stop her. It didn't matter anymore, it was too late.

"The Demons could be just like your people," she argued. She didn't really know, but it was the truth. She had always looked at Specials and Demons as beings who didn't deserve to walk on the same soil as the humans. "Maybe they're just trying to survive and keep from being hunted too? I don't see how it hurts to help them."

Rosemarie scrutinized him suddenly as she realized he intended to sleep there. There was no use in him not getting a good night's sleep, he might need whatever strength he could get... "You can't sleep on the floor," she told him and patted the spot beside her. "Get up here." Normally, she would have allowed a man to take the floor. Her mother would have preferred it that way. However, she didn't expect he's try anything sneaky after keeping his eyes off her while she bathed. She rolled over to the edge of the bed, giving him as much room as he needed so that he didn't have to get too close.

Khalid looked confused at that. "That's what I said. I'm depending it on the situation. If the Demon was falsely imprisoned, we set him free. If not...well, he deserved it." He shrugged. "For all I know, he could be like us Specials. I wouldn't because I never talk to Demons...But I know the stories. They eat people for food, feeding on them to keep nourished." He shrugged, not sure if he should trust it or not.

But at her second comment, he froze. Sitting up a bit, he blushed a bit at the thought. "Oh...no, it's fine. I couldn't. You can stay on the bed while I stay on the floor. I don't want to intrude on your privacy at all..." he said, scratching the back of his head. He was a very modest person. He got embarrassed at the thought of sleeping in the same bed with a woman, let alone anything else. He knew he wouldn't try anything, but he didn't want to make her uncomfortable in any way. So he was content to stay on the floor, as uncomfortable as that was.

"The stories also depict all Specials as murderers," she murmured quietly. The stories could have easily been wrong about everyone. "I think it's our fear that causes us to make up all these things... Isn't it natural for humans to kill what they are afraid will take their lives?"

She glanced at the spot beside her. The bed was surely large enough to accommodate the both of them without them infringing on each other's space. That is unless Khalid moved in his sleep a lot. "You wouldn't be intruding... We don't know how long we're going to be here, you need a good night's sleep in case you require your energy later. So just... get up here and don't worry about it."

Khalid hesitated. But then nodded, giving in. He was still blushing, but walked over to her, climbing onto the other side of the bed. He smiled a bit at her, lying down as he stayed facing her. He would turn around when they were going to sleep. But he figured that they could talk unless she was tired. "You tired at all?" he asked after a moment. "Or is there anything else you wanted to talk about?"

He was a bit abashed about laying down here with her. But he could see her logic in it at least. He needed to sleep well tonight so he could fake their powers tomorrow. So he dealt with his embarrassment as best he could. The slightly red tinge never left his cheeks, but he didn't exactly close up because of the embarrassment, just laying there with her.

She pondered his words for a few moment while moving underneath the covers finally before resuming to lay down where she already was, continuing to look him over for the time being. Her voice dropped to a dull whisper with him being closer to her than he had been. It wasn't that she were afraid someone would hear so much as it seemed more suitable to speak in such quiet tones.

"Not particularly tired, but I know I could fall asleep right away if I tried." She let her eyes drift shut for a moment, the lashes batted at her cheeks briefly before fluttering back open. "I can't think of anything else at the moment... Is there anything that either of us needs to know before tomorrow? I mean... Unless you can project your thoughts into my head then I'm going to need to know any vital information tonight because we may not get a chance to speak with each other."

She didn't exactly notice the crimson hues that overtook his cheeks and her own felt slightly warm, but it was because of nothing more than her proximity to him.

Khalid sighed lightly. "I suppose there might be...Can't really think of anything though..." he said quietly. "We'll stick to my story tomorrow if anyone asks. Got chased and captured. Some weird guy tricked us into killing the king. And we were on the run after that. Ended up here, looking for the Resistance..." He shrugged. "Works as much as anything else. As for anything else...just act natural when I let my powers go. You'll just need to act like you're focusing and I'll have my powers get to work."

For a moment, he hesitated. But then he reached under the covers, taking her hand and squeezing it lightly. "I'll make sure everything goes alright tomorrow," he said. "And, if not, I'll protect you. I don't care if these are...technically my people. I don't want anything to happen to you..." His voice dropped lower as he said the last bit, but then smiled a bit at her. "But I'll make sure it doesn't come to that first."

If there was nothing else to be said, he turned over, laying on his side as he began to try sleeping. He figured it'd be more comfortable to have his back turned to her. More acceptable anyway, if they were going on society's point of view. It took him a bit, but he would finally doze off, still going over the details to himself to remember what he'd have to do.

She committed what he said to memory, not that she really needed to. The lie itself was pretty easy to go along with as it were. She would just have to remember to feign concentration when it came time to display the abilities that she didn't have. She only hoped that the extent of Khalid's power was vast enough to stretch between them and make it seem as though they each possessed a separate power.

Her hand continued to hold onto his once he reached for her own, hanging onto it to reassure herself. She did turn herself away after he did though, keeping her back to his to conform to her culture's view of how she should lie if forced to that situation. A sigh escaped her and she closed her eyes.

"Goodnight," she murmured with a volume that was near inaudible. She allowed herself to doze off at that point, her breathing became heavy and even while she waited to see what the following day would bring them. She could only hope that it went well. Better yet... she hoped that she lived through it. Who knew what would happen if the Specials became suspicious and forced her away from Khalid somehow.

The next morning, Khalid was up with the sun rising. He rolled out of bed, yawning lightly as he glanced around. He always got up this early. He needed to get up that early to prepare for the day. He exercised daily, making sure he was in good shape if he ever did need to run quickly. And, even here, he stuck to his routine. He stripped off his shirt so it wouldn't get covered in sweat and dropped to the ground, doing sit ups. He continued along his routine, eventually working up a decent sweat and panting slightly.

Once he was done, he got to his feet and walked over to the bathroom. He sighed as he turned it on, setting out a towel and a pair of pants. Once the tub was filled, he stripped and submerged himself, letting the warm waters relax his muscles. He washed himself clean, but did it a lot quicker now than before. He glanced over, seeing Rosemarie shift a bit. But figured she was still asleep. So he let the water drain, getting out of the tub and taking the towel to start drying himself. After this, he'd have to get ready for the day. They were supposed to go show off their power today. And probably had a mission besides that.

Rosemarie didn't feel Khalid crawl out of bed and she pushed herself up into a sitting position. She almost expected to wake up in her cabin back at the castle, figuring that the day that preceded the one she was roused to was nothing more than an odd dream. Her gaze moved to the spot beside her once she realized where she was and scanned the room upon discovering it empty. Forest greens traveled across the room to where she finally spied him.

She was still drowsy so it took her a while to realize that he was nude even though she was clearly staring at where he stood. It was apparent that the reality of it all was delayed for her reaction time was completely off.

"Oh... Oh my god!" Her voice climbed up to the point of being shrill. Did that mean he planned on assaulting her? Maybe he already had?!! He could have slipped her something easily. He did have powers and everything.

Rosemarie's hand reached for pillows which she immediately began throwing across the room at Khalid, hurtling them as some sort of vengeance for him scarring her poor eyes. She was clearly flustered and she turned away once she was out of ammo to hide her face. Like a match to dry wood, her cheeks were flaming the brightest crimson that ever grazed her features. Surely, she was not meant to see that!

Khalid's eyes widened as she screamed, putting his towel over his private areas, his face turning a deep crimson almost instantly. He hadn't expected her up even this early. But he should have figured it with her being a soldier. As she threw stuff at him, he caught the pillows and tossed them down in front of him, grunting a bit as he did. Sighing, he stepped back, wrapping the towel around him more firmly.

"I-I'm so sorry...Didn't think you'd be awake this early..." he said quietly, gathering his fresh clothes and started to pull his pants on underneath the towel. His face didn't lose the red tinge as he did. Once the pants were on him, he tossed the towel aside, sighing slightly. "I'm really sorry...Should've waited for you to wake up..." He groaned lightly, coming into the room with his shirt in his hand and sitting down next to the doorway.

After a moment, he moved towards the door, getting up again. "Er...should I go?" he asked cautiously, not sure if she wanted him to leave. "I can go get breakfast and let you do whatever you need to...Figured you don't want to be around me anyway...A bit awkward with that..." It was clear he was nervous. His words ran quickly when he was. He forced himself to stop, biting his tongue lightly to keep him from continuing to spew them out uselessly, waiting for her response as he stood next to the door.

She grumbled something under her breath along the lines of, "Well... you thought wrong now, didn't you?" It was a little hard to decipher what exactly was said with the grunts that escaped her and the way her teeth gritted together. She stayed put until he spoke and dared to look his way only when he asked his last question. She could sort of tell by the movement that he was probably dressed and at the door by that point.

She climbed out of the bed and began to pick up the pillows that were strewn across the room, returning them to their original home silently. She didn't know if he'd take her lack of words as means for him to leave so she moved quickly before starting for the door. Rosemarie smoothed out the creases of her scarlet dress, a shade that wasn't worn because it matched her name so much as it was one of her preferred colors. She didn't see a necessity in changing after she'd only slept in it.

"There's no need in separating," she muttered finally. "I don't want to risk them getting me by myself. It could spoil the plan."

Khalid hesitated. "I suppose...but it wouldn't be long...Didn't know if you wanted me here...after that..." he murmured, forcing his words to not ramble on. He didn't need to continue making things worse. But, after a moment, he shook his head. "Would you like me to bring something back to you from the cafeteria at least? I'll let you bathe or whatever you want and come back with breakfast..." He smiled sheepishly. "A peace offering, maybe?" The red hue in his face never really faded. Kinda just dimmed a bit. He was still embarrassed over it.

The boy had a rare time making enemies. His personality seemed very laid back and happy-go-lucky for the most part. Even if people were angry with him, his timid ways seemed to defuse that most of the time. He was told it was hard to stay angry at him, even with him being an adult. He didn't know how the girl would react to his normal attitude. But he figured it was something.

"I bathed last night," she informed him in case he might have forgotten. "There's no need right now, let's just go."

She paused and looked the room over for a moment, "If they decide to come pull me from my room since I'm not with you then it could end badly. We don't need to give them any opportunity to separate us." She was definitely paranoid about being away from him and having them discover that she really did have no powers.

That wasn't the reason why Rosemarie forgave Khalid so easily though. It had more to do with her being afraid than anything. She didn't see a point in dwelling over what had happened when there were more pressing issues to consider. She hadn't been angry so much as flustered and caught off guard anyways. Either way, she was not staying back. Her hand had already reached for the door and turned the knob, her other hand came up to grab his elbow and started moving him towards the hall.

Khalid just nodded, agreeing with her. He let her lead him off, heading out towards the cafeteria. "We'll eat and then wait for Geisho or whoever to get us...Seems like the best choice..." he told her, slipping his hands into his pockets as he walked off. He sat down with her, eating his breakfast quietly. It wasn't long after they finished that Geisho walked towards their table. The boy glanced up at seeing him and smiled lightly. "Already time for us to show our skills? Don't we get to stay here for a bit? Only been a day..."

Geisho sighed, shaking his head. "Come along..." he said, turning and walking away. Khalid sighed lightly, getting up and taking Rosemarie's hand. He knew she was probably still nervous about it. He tried reassuring her like this. He wasn't sure how else he could at the moment. Squeezing it lightly, he smiled at her a bit, letting her either keep her hand in his or take it away, whichever she was more comfortable with.

As they came outside of the cave fortress that was the Resistance base, Gargan was standing there. Among them was the other large man, though, not as large as Gargan, the pale eyed boy, and the cheerful boy. Gargan frowned a bit as he saw them. "Are you two ready then?" he asked. Khalid nodded, not really caring. He was prepared to prove his powers.

He smiled a bit, stepping forward. "I'll go first. Our powers are...sort of similar. We both control somewhat of the elements," he commented, waving his hand. He drew his knife and let them watch as the metal turned liquid, bending away and wrapping around his body before returning to the knife and solidifying.

Gargan nodded slowly as he saw this. "I see...that could be very useful..." he agreed, turning to the girl. "Now, you."

She smirked at Khalid's initial response to Geisho, the corner of her mouth curled with her amusement. It didn't take much longer before the trepidation began to enter the doors of her body and fill her entire core until the fear was near insurmountable. Rosemarie followed after Khalid and Geisho, her fingers intertwined with her companion's once he reached for her hand.

She continued to grasp his slender digits with her own, tightening her hold until after they were in the room with Gargan. It was only then that she forced herself apart, stepping back while Khalid spoke. Her eyes flickered over to Gargan when he instructed her to display her power.

She glanced at Khalid once more though it was brief and then she began to do as he had told her the night before. Rosemarie's forehead creased, wrinkling even more as time passed as though to feign some kind of focus.

Khalid let his power loose as he saw her focus. "Give her a moment...Sometimes takes a bit..." he said, watching her as if he was just making sure she could do this. After a few moments, a small vine began to sprout up from a crack. In only a few moments, the vine had grown to cover the entrance to the base.

Gargan looked mildly impressed. "I see. So metal and plants. Interesting combination..." he commented. "Alright. You two will be allowed to join our operation for today. Geisho is leading it. So I'll allow him to explain this..." He nodded to Geisho before heading back inside the base, the boulder sliding in place of the doorway to block it off again.

Geisho gave a small nod. "It's a simple mission. We'll be heading to a nearby village to talk to a contact about our pay. He'll have a few supplies and gold for us in return for a package we have. The problem that requires all of us...is that human soldiers are patrolling it. They caught word of several Specials being there. So...we'll need to be careful. And, for that, we'll have the others explain their abilities..."

The large man gave a nod. "My name is Bruno. I've got super strength for the most part..." he said. Then metal coated his body, making him metallic. "And I can have metal form over my body...Not as complicated as your powers, I'm sure, but it works." The metal receded.

The pale eyed boy tilted his head a bit. "I'm...more of a spirit, I suppose. My name is Rei. I can move see a greater distance than most people and, sometimes, through objects," he said, shrugging.

The other boy, grinned happily. "And I'm Jake. I can transfer my spirit into another object. Harder to do it to a person, but possible in theory if the person's weaker. Nice to meet you," he said.

Geisho gave a nod. "Let's get moving. We'll be there within the hour and have to get to work...Understood?" he asked, glancing over the group.

She didn't really think that Khalid had such a wide range of abilities. She figured it would be limited to one thing, maybe two. At first, she assumed his power was to slow things down and manipulate time somehow. Then he pulled that metal bending out... and yet again, there was the whole deal with the plants. She wondered if there was more to it or if that was all.

She paid close attention to those who spoke, retaining whatever it was they said for later. She figured that it might be a good idea were she to speak to the guards somehow and make a way for the other Specials to pass. In order to do that, she would have to reveal herself to those around her. Probably not such a good idea.

She decided to stick with the plan, remaining silent and nodding only to agree with Geisho once he spoke. Other than that, she kept as quiet as possible and stuck to her attempt at blending in among them.

Khalid gave a nod, following the group along. He didn't say much, fine with staying quiet for a bit. He just stayed close to Rosemarie, trying to offer some comfort from remaining near her. Silently, he was regarding the four they were meant to work with ans seeing how they acted. Geisho actually appeared to be more playful around those he knew, loosening up quite a bit over the trip. Bruno was more stern, being more serious than the rest. Rei was just quiet like the two of them. Jake seemed more cheerful the entire time as though he didn't have a care at all.

After a bit, he sighed light, seeing a village in view. "So...this is it?" he asked. "We just need to get to that contact now?" Geisho gave a nod after a moment and walked off towards the village. Khalid followed, staying close to Rosemarie the entire time. He took her hand, squeezing it lightly to reassure her again. He wanted her to feel okay with working with the other Specials.

Rosemarie didn't pay particular attention to those she was grouped with, aside from Khalid anyways. Mostly it was because she was paranoid about being found out and partly because she wasn't sure what would happen if they came across the Guards. It seemed she was about to find out what the latter was like though for a couple of the people who patrolled the small village approached their group.

She lifted her head only to look at those who spoke as the guards took turns speaking. A tall, broad shouldered man was the first to start talking. Rosemarie guessed it was partly because he had the most intimidating build and partly because he was the leader of the group. "Got word o' some Specials headed this way. We're goin' t'need t'take ye all in."

She wasn't entirely sure what to say, or do, at first. However, there was no way that they could risk compromising the mission. "I'll go," she decided. "Everyone knows that humans and Specials don't work together," she continued, "And they can stay within the city limits. If I'm clean then they get to go and if not then you let us all stay, or leave, as we see fit."

"Can we do that?" She heard one of the men whisper in question to the man who had spoke.

"It would leave less chance of the real Specials getting by if you don't contain us all," she said in hopes of swaying their decision.

"Okay," the leader said, "Just the girl then, but the rest of ye will make no attempts t'run for it. Understood?"

Khalid hesitated, glancing at Rosemarie. Was that okay? If she was clean, wouldn't that just leave more chance for them to suspect something? But instead of protesting, he shrugged. "It works. We won't run," he stated, glancing to Geisho. The man nodded his consent at the words, allowing Khalid to continue. "We won't be long. Should we return for our friend at the guard house when we are finished here?"

One of the guards nodded. "That would work..." he said, letting the men move towards Rosemarie. "Go ahead and get done with your business. With the Specials around, you won't want to be here when they rear their heads out..."

Geisho nodded, rallying the group together and heading in, leaving Rosemarie to the guards. They would take care of their mission while Rose dealt with the guards. It didn't make a difference to them. It was just another way to complete their task.

Her hand released Khalid's hesitantly and she moved away from him and their new comrades before allowing the Guard to guide her away. If she felt uncomfortable being among the Specials, she was more unsettled with the new group of people she walked among.

Rosemarie didn't take too much time to look over her surroundings while they moved into the vicinity of the village. She was preoccupied with explaining how she got away from the Guards. It wasn't until she was pushed into a jail cell did she realize where she was. Surely, she didn't need to be placed behind bars for the interrogation. That was a little much. She also noticed that the particular cell she found herself in was the only one around and that the three Guards who had accompanied her down there were the only people present. She found the situation a little odd...

The largest of the men, the one who had initially spoke to her group was also the one who took charge at that point. "Go get the door," he bellowed to his companions and they took off to wait outside the entrance. That's what she assumed when she heard the door close and then realized they were gone.

"Now," he mused with a lick of his lips. "Let's see how ye bleed."

She offered her arm up, prepared to let him cut into skin. There were very few ways to determine if someone was a Special. Blood color just happened to be one of the few. The man swiped her limb out of the way and proceeded to push her up against the wall.

"We don't like ye Specials," he spat. "I ain't goin' t'make this easy for ye."

"I'm no Special," she argued and her fear began to climb to new levels. What had she been thinking. The group she had been with probably could have overtaken the Guards or something.

"We'll see about that," he muttered and removed the club at his hip. She shrunk against the wall and attempted to make herself as small as possible while the man closed in on her and threatened to start beating her with the weapon he wielded.

Khalid looked worried for the remainder of their time. He didn't like the thought of Rosemarie on her own. He wanted to help her. But he forced himself to believe she would be fine. So he just stuck with Geisho and the rest of the group. However, mid-way through it, as they stopped outside the tent that housed their contact, Geisho turned to him. "Head to the guard house. Make sure Rose is okay," he stated, crossing his arms. "I don't like the look of the guards. And, even as a Special, one can't take that many..." The boy paused, but then nodded, turning and heading out quickly.

Meanwhile, just as the man was about to swing, the club froze. "This doesn't seem like good behavior for a city guard..." a girl's voice came, a bit of amusement in it. And, just like that, from the shadows of the cell, a girl formed. Her hair was a snow white, but her eyes had a familiar look to them. She almost resembled Khalid in the carefree look she gave the guard, her dark eyes darkening quickly as the man whipped around to strike her. She ducked under the club and jabbed her hand up quickly, a knife finding its way to his throat.

As the man dropped lifeless to the floor, the girl smiled at her, gesturing towards the door. "Let's go...before more come back..." Just as she said that, a light glow came over the handle of the iron door. Soon, a small flame lit up on the other side and the door was shoved open easily, revealing a boy, only a few years younger than the girl. Unlike the girl, her only resemblance a look she gave, this body did look like Khalid. He had the same brown hair and crimson eyes as he surveyed the scene. He gestured for them to follow, to which the girl quickly moved forward, only pausing long enough to wait for Rose to follow.

She felt her heart seize in her chest when she realized that the man had dropped to the ground, blood pouring down over his chest. She had heard the voice, but thought she might have imagined it. Her eyes flickered away from the body immediately as she started to plan her escape though it seemed that she didn't need to for the female stood mere feet away.

Rosemarie followed the girl, careful not to touch the body for not wanting the blood to stain the hem of her dress or her shoes either for that matter.

The two led her out, staying cautious as they made their way towards the entrance of the guard house. However, they froze as they heard metal clash. The girl moved forward lightly before pausing again, gesturing for them to follow. As they got close, they saw that it was Khalid. Five guards lay on the ground around him, metal covering his arms like gauntlets and blood dripping from his fists. The soldiers were all mostly unconscious, though, one was dead from a knife blade in his face. He panted lightly as he looked up at the three. Blades instantly slid out of his gauntlets as he saw the two kids with Rosemarie, but he hesitated again, letting them slide back. He sighed lightly, the gauntlets twisting away from his hands in liquid metal.

"Are you okay?" he asked, stepping forward to look at Rosemarie. He smiled a bit, having been worried about her and was glad to see her. He had thought the guards would do something bad to her. He didn't think they'd get past the fact that she might be a Special. They'd just assume she was. Even though she wasn't.

Before he could continue though, the girl smacked him in the back of his head. "Need to get going. I don't think eight guards count as the entire barracks here..." she commented. "We'll be swamped if we don't move."

Khalid glared at her for a moment, but didn't move away from Rosemarie. He touched her arm lightly, a vine reached out and tying around where they had sliced her skin. The cut began to heal before the vine receded, falling limply to the ground. He smiled at her reassuringly before taking her hand and starting to lead her out of the guard house. "She's right...We'll be in trouble of more come...We're getting out of the village...Geisho and the others can meet us out there," he stated.

Rosemarie nodded her head slowly. "Yeah," she answered him after making the motion of her head to do so. "I'm okay."

She hadn't expected him to come for her, but she couldn't get past the crushing relief that he was there. She might have tried to defend herself if she didn't think more people would come in were she to fight off the man who had been about to strike her. That didn't necessarily mean he wouldn't have murdered her anyways though. He had been under the impression she could be a Special.

Rosemarie's hand claimed Khalid's. It was like a childish impulse, she couldn't resist reaching for it when she was constantly in a fearful state of being. Her hand moved underneath the cloak she had adorned, reaching for the hilt of a dagger suddenly while she kept a careful watch for the approach of more guards. Fingers curved and tightened their hold, both on Khalid and the weapon and her feet only moved when he did.

Khalid glanced around as the metal that had become liquid formed to his hand, making a chain around his arm. He glanced between the two cautiously, but followed them out. The trip went quickly and without incident. It didn't take long to reach the edge of the village where Khalid finally relaxed, loosening his grip on Rosemarie's hand. He wasn't sure when he'd have to fight. But he was protective. He had been ready for it to defend Rose at any time.

Once they were safe though, his eyes scanned over the two newcomers. "...So...you're my siblings..." he muttered quietly. His power over nature wasn't just that of plants and such. Humans were part of nature, in a sense. And, from that, he was able to look into it and see that they were of blood relation to him. They had the same feel. And their powers were similar to his. "Shoulda guessed I had some I didn't know about..." Shrugging lightly, he glanced back. "You staying?"

The girl nodded, grinning at him. "Name's Kira. Good think Jiko found you. We've been keeping an eye on the girl since we identified you," she said brightly. "We were hoping for the chance to find you...We want to go along too." Jiko offered a nod, but was still scanning around for guards that might've followed. Once satisfied, he sighed, dropping against a tree trunk and sitting there.

Khaldi sighed lightly. "I suppose you'll be able to. Obviously Specials...You could join the Resistance..." he said, shrugging. Then glanced at Rosemarie to see how she felt about the two coming. He wasn't sure what kind of vibe she got from them. But she always seemed relieved to be around him. He figured it wouldn't be a problem. And they did save her...

Rosemarie kept quiet as per usual with her, stark green optics averted away from Khalid to look over to where the other two when she heard him mutter something about family. A slender brow perked up as she allowed herself to study them more fully.

She listened while the female spoke and didn't really like the thought of them following along without notice, even if they had been watching her in case she needed saving or something of the sort. It unnerved her a little. Her head turned back towards Khalid while she began looking for the other Specials after he mentioned the Resistance. She hadn't seen any of them yet.

"Are Geisho and the others close?"

"Moderately. They're on their way back..." Jiko said, eyes closed. His powers were letting him find them. He stayed like that for a good while before letting his eyes open. "They're here." He glanced towards the village, watching as Geisho and the others came out.

Before they could protest, Khalid spoke up quickly. "These are my...siblings. Kira and Jiko," he said, gesturing to both in turn. "They broke Rosemarie out when she was in trouble. They want to join the Resistance..."

Geisho looked both over and then sighed. "What are your powers?" he asked. "Are they similar to Khalid's?"

Both nodded before Kira smiled up at him. "My brother isn't much of a talker...I'm Kira. My powers are control over Light and Darkness. That includes solar energy and shadows...My brother controls what remains of the elements. Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth."

Geisho hesitated, but then nodded. "Alright. Whatever," he said with a sigh. "We'll talk to Gargan when we return. Until then, we'll keep an eye on you two. Don't try anything..." Kira nodded with a bright smile as Jiko got to his feet, shrugging. The two turned and followed Geisho off as the group began moving again. Khalid stepped back to Rosemarie, instinctively taking her hand again to reassure her of the situation. He knew she was still paranoid of the whole situation.

At first, Rosemarie thought that Jiko's power might be to somehow locate people then when Kira spoke in regards to his ability, she figured that he must have used his earth like abilities to somehow discern their location. She wasn't too worried about it though.

She didn't blame Geisho for being precarious with the addition to their group. Even if the people were relatives of Khalid's, he had told her only the night before that he didn't know his family so it was a recent discovery. That and Geisho couldn't even fully trust them yet, they still had her and her companion under watch.

Slender digits curved over the hand that held hers, one that was becoming increasingly familiar since she had hardly let go of it over the past two days. When she thought about it, she'd been clinging to it every moment except for when she just so happened to be eating or bathing. Well... She couldn't remember holding it while she slept. She might have, but she didn't really try to think too hard on it. It was hard not to reach for him though when she was still so frightened of what might happen were she discovered to be a human among the Resistance.

Khalid followed the group back to the base. It was very uneventful. Khalid talked to his siblings calmly, telling them what he'd been doing. He explained that Rose's ability over nature let her see the similarities in their body, marking them as coming from the same parents. Kira, likewise, explained that Jiko's ability over water let him see the similarities in their blood that connected them. So they talked of what they'd been doing for the most part. Khalid about trying to live his life before the king tried to have him executed. Of his escape to the Resistance. Geisho even seemed to be quiet for this, listening on the conversation as he rest of the group conversed among themselves.

Kira, on her part, explained how they'd lived their life. Separate until only two years ago. They met up in a village and began to work, trying to find the Resistance. Never worked out. But it seemed they had a run in with Angels that wanted to kill them. Just like Khalid and Rosemarie had at the kingdom. The only difference was that a Demon tried to kill them too. It was odd. But they eventually escaped here. They were lucky to find the Resistance after coming on the words that Specials would be in the village for a job.

Khalid smiled a bit as they reached the head quarters. "Finally...I need a bath..." he muttered. Then blushed a little as he remembered that morning. The sun was already setting, they'd been out for the entire day. But it was still pretty good, considering they got the job done and returned in that day. He glanced at Rosemarie briefly before glancing back at Kira and Jiko, smiling at them. "Gargan'll be fine. You're definitely Specials. So...you should be accepted."

"...Just don't mention you're siblings..." Geisho said quietly to them as he glanced back. "Gargan will be more suspicious of you two." He looked over Khalid and Rosemarie. "This group is like a family. They won't say a word, but you four need to keep quiet too. Especially if you plan to leave." He laughed likely, even being viewed as grinning widely from behind that mask. Khalid's eyes widened in shock at the words, but he continued. "Gargan made a mistake here. He put me in charge of watching you guys which included monitoring your conversations. I don't plan on ratting you out. I'm more... interested."

Khalid hesitated. "Does that mean...you're planning to leave too?" he asked, sounding confused. "Why would you? With all the Specials here..."

"We'll show a threat and most likely get more innocents killed, proving the theory," Geisho finished. "I'd like to help you guys. I can see you aren't bad people." He shrugged. Khalid still seemed skeptical, but nodded, letting him go forward and having one of the Specials open the door as they approached.

"If you're going to bathe," she began while shifting her gaze to Khalid and continued speaking quietly, "Then I'll stay with Kira or Geisho, or something..."

It wasn't like Rosemarie trusted any of the Specials and she still had that fear that somehow she would be discovered. Of all the people that were a part of the Resistance, she probably felt her safest by being with either Khalid's sister or the leader of their group if she had to be separated from Khalid. "We should go see what Gargan has to say and then get some food, Khalid can hit the bath while I eat and then I'll go after or something."

It was about the most she had said in front of Geisho and about as close it came to forming any kind of decision since she'd left the kingdom of Slynth.

Khalid shrugged lightly. "Sounds good...Let's go then," he stated, following after Geisho and the others, Kira and Jiko not far behind. They took the paths to find Gargan in his office. Geisho stood straighter as he saw the man. "Sir. We've got two more recruits. I can give you the full briefing on the mission once we take care of them," he said quietly.

Gargan gave a nod and Kira quickly walked forward. "My name is Kira. My brother Jiko and I would like to join your cause. We've been searching for a while now. We were just lucky enough to find your group on their mission," she said with a smile. "My power comes over Darkness and Light. My brother's takes the elements of Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. I simply ask that you give us place to stay and we'll do anything we can to repay you..."

Gargan hesitated, but then nodded. "Geisho wouldn't have brought you here if you didn't show signs of being Specials. So I can trust you to some extent," he said, looking them over curiously. "Go ahead and eat at the cafeteria. Geisho, give me the report. I hope you don't mind, but we'll be placing those two into your squad. Easier to keep a watchful eye on them." Geisho nodded his approval, waiting for the group to leave before going about his report.

As they got out, Kira smiled happily at Rosemarie, taking her wrist light to start tugging her down the hallway. "Show me where the cafeteria is. I'm famished. Been a while since I got a good meal," she said. Jiko began to follow them.

Khalid sighed lightly. "I'll go take a bath and come get you when I'm done. That sound okay?" he asked, looking at Rose before Kira could drag her off completely.

She listened intently while Gargan spoke with Geisho and Kira. Light laughter was ripped free of pale red lips when she realized that she was being dragged along by the other girl. She turned her head to find Khalid and then offered a nod to him so he would be sure she had heard him properly.

Her feet took to the hallways, trying to remember the vaguely familiar path to the cafeteria. She looked over her shoulder as they stepped inside, her hand grabbed a plate for herself and she adjusted herself to hand one over to either Kira or Jiko. Viridian orbs rested on the female, "Is he shy or does he not like to talk?"

She knew it was rude to regard him in front of his sister that way, but not quite as much had she asked the question behind his back.

Once the three had left, Khalid walked off to get into their room. Once there, he quickly started the bath and undressed, relaxing once it was full. He began to mull over what had happened. He was curious about Geisho. He didn't know whether to trust him or distrust him. But, if he distrusted, that would mean they needed to leave immediately. Or...as soon as possible...He figured he could snatch the Demon prince before heading out. Nothing to lose now, really.

Kira smiled a bit, eyes lighting up in laughter. "He's not much of a talker. He doesn't like that I'm so talkative either. He's very secretive about his thoughts and doesn't like the fact that I'm not the same way," she said, smirking a bit. "It's a bit amusing to annoy him." She began to get her food together, ignoring glares from her brother before sitting down with Rosemarie and Jiko.

"I see," she murmured quietly.

Rosemarie wasn't entirely sure what the plan was or how many days they would be staying with the Resistance. That was something she would have to find out from Khalid. That and if he planned on dragging his siblings along or leaving them with the other Specials. Kira seemed amiable enough, but friendliness wasn't something that automatically translated to trust. Just because there was a blood bond there didn't mean that she could be deemed a worthy companion...

She was going to need to converse with Khalid about the matter, but for the time being she started eating what food she had gathered onto her plate after sitting herself. The food wasn't the greatest, but she was ravenous from the mission with the other Specials and wasn't sure whether that night would be the last time she ate either, so she filled herself up to the point that she felt bloated.

Khalid came out a while later. He had dressed in his plain pants that he'd come to the Resistance in, but his hair was still wet. Therefore, he lacked his shirt, having come down in a hurry, not waiting for himself to dry completely. He came up to their table, smiling at Rosemarie like nothing was different. "Your turn. I'll have dinner and be outside the door by the time you're done. Sound good?" he asked. Without changing expression in the least, he continued. "Bring Kira along with you. We all need to talk when you're done." His voice dropped, but nothing changed in his tone besides that, not seeming any more serious than when he first came to the table. He wasn't trying to put on a show for the other Specials. He just needed to convey that they really needed to talk about their plan.

He turned away once she was going, grabbing his food and coming to sit across from Jiko. "And, you...we need to talk..." he said quietly. "Where's the prisoner?" He looked Jiko over, knowing that he knew already. His powers over earth let him see where he was.

"...Tunnel off the side of the boss' office," he said. "Metal door blocking it. And Gargan's still there." Khalid hesitated, but then nodded. He would need to act quickly. And it was clear he needed both his siblings to help him if this was going to work.

Rosemarie rose from her seat with a deal of reluctance, she would have preferred to speak with Khalid one on one and pose the suggestion that maybe he couldn't trust his family members. After all, he had said before that he didn't know his family. They had just showed up out of the blue.

She wasn't sure how to drag Khalid off by himself for a moment without it seeming weird though since he already seemed predetermined to include them. Rosemarie shrugged off the situation and started for the room to bathe, leaving it up for Kira to follow her in while she started to prepare the bath.

Kira followed Rosemarie in and sat down against the wall, not looking at the woman the entire time as she went about her business. She didn't bother her or anything, just staying quiet and waiting for whatever Khalid had planned. She was curious at this point. And, not long after Rosemarie was finished with her bath, her curiosity was able to be answered. She went to the door when Rose was dressed, finding Khalid and Jiko waiting. As they said they would be.

Both came in quickly and Khalid sighed lightly as the door was closed. "I don't know how much we can trust Geisho," he stated immediately. "Jiko knows where the prisoner is. The hallway past Gargan's office. I want Kira to go in, pick the lock, knock the prisoner out, and bring him to us. Use the shadows to hide yourself." He didn't waste any time in explaining the situation. "From there, Gargan will know something's up. We can't do this without a bit of a scuffle. Jiko will restrain him with his earth elements. I'll help with what I can in regards to metal. But we get the demon out and leave before anyone can stop us. Is there any objection to that plan?" Kira and Jiko gave a small nod, immediately accepting the plan, it would seem. Khalid's eyes rested on Rosemarie, seeing what she wanted to do. He figured she would come. She was welcome to stay, but he knew she was worried about being found out. Nothing left for her with Khalid gone.

"I'm coming with you," she told Khalid almost immediately. She didn't want to be left there by herself, she had said that much the day before and his plan was a completely risky one. It was bad enough that there were only four of them to fight against many different Specials, but Rosemarie didn't have any abilities to harness for her own use. Sure, she had daggers... It wasn't enough when it came to fighting more than one Special though and she hadn't brought any dampener, albeit she was sure Khalid would disapprove of the dampener even if it would help them.

Khalid hesitated then nodded. "Right then..." he said quietly and glanced to Kira. "We'll start this now. The Specials are getting to bed. Gives us time to work. Gargan shouldn't suspect a thing until he's already trapped." Kira gave a nod before following what he said with Jiko close behind her. He watched the door close shut behind them as they went to fulfill their task and free the demon prince.

Sighing lightly, he looked to Rosemarie, smiling at her. "Everything will turn out fine..." he murmured to her, touching her hand lightly with his. "Once we're out of here, I'll get you to a human kingdom. You can start over from there...It'll be better for you, I'm sure. Better than being seen with a group of Special Humans..." He shrugged a bit, smiling at her before wincing slightly as pain came up from the side of his face. He touched it lightly with his free hand, but ignored it otherwise, looking back to Rosemarie to see how she felt about the plan.

Rosemarie didn't think the plan was completely fool proof, but she wasn't going to argue it either. Daemos had said that they needed to bring the prince back with them if they wanted to get any further. Obviously, they couldn't reside with the Resistance without them picking up on the fact that she was a mere human. They'd start to suspect why she never displayed her abilities without Khalid's presence, maybe.

She wasn't sure she exactly liked the thoughts of taking up a life in a human kingdom without her family or Khalid with her, but it was probably better as well. She didn't think she could return home after the king ruling over Slynth was killed and she couldn't keep running with a Special either. Eventually, people would discover him and try to hunt him and if she intended to stay with him then she would have to run to.

"Sounds good," she acquiesced at last.

Khalid gave a nod, moving towards the door. He tried to shove down his feelings of foreboding after what he would have to do. But there was no helping it. He'd figure things out along the way. They needed to leave now. That was all he was really sure of. They couldn't stay with the Resistance when they were at risk as they were.

As he opened the door, he frowned a bit, waiting to hear Gargan become angry. But before they could, Kira appeared, the shadows parting around her and Jiko as she let her powers go. She was frowning now as well, her jovial nature gone. "We can't do it," she stated. "The door's...special. The lock isn't set for any lock-pick to get through. I won't be able to get him out. Not without making a lot of noise and making problems for us..." she commented, sighing lightly.

This just made Khalid sigh in return. "Shit..." he muttered. "Fine...we can't go yet..." He shut the door, letting them talk in private now. "We'll need to figure out how to get through the door before moving on then..." He hesitated a moment before scratching his head. "Hopefully we can get out of here within the week..."

Rosemarie peered at Kira and Jiko curiously after they moved within the room. They had said it was time for people to be getting to bed. "You know, Khalid...? If they see us all grouped together like this then they might suspect something, especially now that everyone is turning in for the night. I mean, they don't know that you all are related or that we're trying to get out. We don't need to do anything that could compromise what we're doing. Your siblings ought to head to their own room for now if they've been given one."

"You and I can discuss our ideas about a better way to get to the prince, and they can talk about what they think is a good idea. We can compare in the morning or something." It wasn't much input that she was offering, but it was some. She hadn't really spoken much, but she figured that she should at least try to think everything through logically on her part.

Khalid gave a nod, letting Kira and Jiko go after they had said their good byes. Once he closed the door, he sighed lightly, thinking a bit. "I'll be able to get past the door. But no one's come for us yet...I think we're safe for the time being..." he murmured. "Maybe we can take our time for a little bit..." He looked to her, smiling at Rosemarie, encouragingly. "I'm sure we'll be fine. If nothing us, I'll protect you."

Walking towards her, he placed his hand on her elbow lightly, nudging her towards the bed. "We'll be able to think of what to do in the morning. Then we'll take care of things within the week, I suppo-" Before he could continue, a knock came at the door. Hesitantly, he moved back towards it, opening it to see Geisho standing there.

"...There's a man outside our base," he said, crossing his arms lightly. "He's looking for a boy who can control metal...I'm guessing that's you. He doesn't really look happy..."

Khalid hesitated a moment before glancing back at Rosemarie. "I'll...go see what it is. You can get to bed, if you want..." he commented, not really minding if she came or stayed.

Rosemarie was about to speak before Geisho interrupted their discussion, and she followed Khalid to the door. Her eyes flickered between the two men as they spoke and she shook her head to her companion's suggestion. She wasn't about to stay alone more than she had to. She was very doubtful that she would be pulled out of the room and separated from Khalid, but she wasn't going to risk it. The last thing Rose wanted to do was give them a reason to snoop around and discover that she wasn't really a Special.

It was likely that she would have been sent away if she owned up to being human at first, but hiding among them as an impostor for even a day was likely an offense worthy of some kind of interrogation. What that interrogation might include, she didn't want to know. That and they might have sentenced her to some kind of death as well. She knew Khalid said he'd protect her, but she didn't want to give him a reason to.

"I'm coming with," she told him. She had no idea who would have come to the Resistance in search of Khalid or how they would have even found him there. It certainly made her curious which was also another reason why she decided to accompany him.

Khalid hesitated for a moment, but then shrugged, turning to Geisho. He nodded and led them out of the room, leading them down towards the entrance. As they got there, he let Khalid open it. The moment he did, a sword flashed, moving towards his throat. The boy hopped back immediately, both knives out in that instance as Geisho even stepped back, ready to help. The man before them was familiar. It took Khalid a moment, but he recognized him as that man who'd confronted them outside the castle when they fled. The man who had stopped just outside the Demon Forest. However, he wasn't in armor this time. He wore very loose white robes. His two wings were out, fully extended, not stepping through the door. It was clear that he was an Angel.

"Finally found you..." he growled out, not able to get through the door. The Resistance had charms over the mountain. They couldn't even step forward if they weren't a Special. "You'll pay for your crimes now. Come out here and fight!"

"Why...should I?" Khalid asked, relaxing slightly as he saw he couldn't get into the base. "I don't want to fight. Just leave. Whatever crimes you believe I created are wrong. I didn't commit any crime. The king was a mistake."

"It doesn't matter! I need you dead!" he shouted, trying to step forward, but unable to. After a moment, Khalid sighed, stepping forward anyway.

"Geisho, do me a favor? Go get a healer...We'll need one in a moment," he commented. He didn't want to fight this man. He was doing what he thought was right. He could clearly see that. But he also didn't want to let him go. He'd just sit out here and make them unable to do missions for the Resistance. So he'd fight this time at least.

The Angel sneered at that. "You think a healer can fix what I'll do to you?" he asked, narrowing his eyes. "I plan on killing you."

"...But I only plan on crippling you..." Khalid said, smiling halfheartedly. The Angel roared in rage, darting forward. The moment the sword got close, the boy's chain uncurled, striking out faster and slamming into the center of his forehead. The moment it did, his head jerked back. Not giving him a chance to move, Khalid darted forward and jabbed his knife into the man's gut, twisting it before letting it go.

It was at that moment, after only a few seconds, that Geisho returned with the healer. Swiping the blood off the knife, he sheathed it, smiling at the two, having not changed from his light expression through the entire conflict.

"Please heal him. He's not wrong. I...just needed to show him that it was pointless..." he said, wincing a bit at the thought. He didn't like the thought of fighting.

"...Wait..." he muttered, starting to get up. But Geisho moved forward and kicked him lightly, ordering him to stay still as the healer got to work.

Khalid just sighed, walking back in and placing his hand on Rosemarie's elbow. "Let's go..." he murmured quietly.

Even though Rose had been trained to fight Specials, Angels were another story and she had never actually even had a real fight to go off either. Spars hardly constituted as being prepared for the altercation that started before her. She stared ahead, and her eyes grew wide when the Angel swooped in at Khalid.

She was frozen in place and didn't realize that her body refused to move until she felt a familiar hand on her elbow. Rose nodded her head and remained silent before turning towards him, prepared to go wherever it was that he planned to take her. She wasn't sure whether he intended to make an escape or lead her back to their room.

Khalid simply led her back to the room they were sharing. He didn't intend to make an escape until he at least had the prince in his possession. The demons might not mean well. But at least it would be something. He didn't know whether to keep the prince or bring him to Daemos. But he'd figure that out at some point. In the mean time, they had some time to plan.

As he reached the room, Geisho came down the hall. "Gargan would like to speak with you in the morning. In light of events, you two will be taking a separate mission from my group...We've got a day of rest, but he'll want you to interrogate that Angel," he explained. "Figure out why he's here. Misuru healed him for the time being. But he just sits there. Refuses to move for anything."

Khalid hesitated, but then nod. "I'll talk to him in the morning then...I'm really tired..." he said, scratching the back of his head. "Come get me first thing in the morning and I'll be there." With a nod, Geisho turned and walked off towards Gargan's office. As he did, Khalid simply sighed and led Rosemarie into the room, shutting the door behind him. "That was...interesting..." he muttered to himself, bringing his hand up over his eyes.

Rose remained silent while Khalid conversed with Geisho. She was quiet enough as it was and rarely said anything, but she was even less talkative when another person was around. That and she was paranoid about eavesdroppers no matter the subject of conversation. Risks just weren't something that Rosemarie cared to take.

She nodded absently before a grumble escaped her. "So that thing tried to kill you and now we have to talk with it?" The way she spoke about the Angel, she acted as though it weren't a person and more of a creature to be hated unless given some great reason to think otherwise. She pressed her lips together and drew them into her mouth, running her tongue over the chapped flesh. She felt somewhat apologetic and her expression was almost sheepish as though words of the same, or worse, nature had left her mouth at a previous time in regards to the Specials. She certainly had a different opinion of their kind after meeting Khalid, but she only had the past day or two to go off as well.

Khalid shook his head. "I don't fight if I don't think there's a reason to it," he said quietly. "The Angel's doing what he believed was right just as I have. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, I'll at least show him that I'm not so horrible, and give him the option to see his faults." He hesitated at that. "If he even has one. I could be wrong in my own assessment..." he said, sighing as he moved towards the bed.

He had a lot to think about at this point. The Angel had said that he had sinned or done something wrong. What that was, he had no idea. But to warrant the wrath of Angels... well, it had to be big. So he'd go ahead and give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being. Besides that, he had to figure out what to do with the Demons. Hell, for all he knew, the Angels wanted him dead for his deal with Daemos. Even if he wasn't sure to carry out that deal or not.

She listened while he spoke before and kept her voice low, asking "So now we have to talk with the Angel and then plan how to get the prince out?" The question escaped her more as a means of clarifying if he had any further plans for them. "We need to see if we can trust Geisho... If we can't then we should find a way out soon, but if we can then we should probably plan to stay at least a couple days after today. Don't you think?" She raised a brow and let it slide back into place before continuing to talk, "They would probably have a closer watch on us since we recently arrived and that Angel followed us so they'll be tightening their watch. It's suspicious that he's here."

She nibbled on her lower lip for a moment, "You said you knew how to get the prince out and you also said the door was made of metal, do you plan to liquefy it or something?" There was a pause before she recalled why they were still in the Resistance, "If the door's special like Kira said then there's probably some kind of signal or alarm that will go off. We're going to have to be quick after we're done, do you think Kira would be able to use her power to get us all out?"

She nodded her head before making her way for the bed. It felt weird not to be able to strip some of her garments down as she normally would have done were she alone or sharing a bed with someone like her mother or Sanae. Khalid was neither someone she was that close with or a woman though so she remained dressed as she was and made her way into the bed after pulling back the blankets and crawling underneath. "Goodnight," she murmured before rolling onto her side and leaving her back to face his way while she turned away. Rose closed her eyes and allowed sleep to overtake her.

Khalid rested his hand on her side reassuringly, figuring to show her that they'd be fine. It wasn't much, but what else could he do? So, letting his hand rest for another moment, he turned over and began to fall asleep with her. The next morning they'd have a lot to do. What with the Angel and whatever other tasks they were given. So he forced himself to sleep, letting himself get some rest.

The next morning went by quickly. He got up at dawn, bathing (much quicker this time, mind you) and heading off to see Gargan. After a brief meeting, getting the same information Geisho had given him, he returned to the room. He hesitated a bit at seeing Rose still asleep, he sighed lightly. Moving to her side of the bed, he crouched down to face her a bit, placing his hand on her side lightly. "Rose? You awake?" he asked quietly, shaking her gently. "It's morning. We need to talk to the Angel..." Part of him wanted to let her sleep. She looked so peaceful. It was a shame to cut her sleep short. Lord knew how much they'd be able to get once they had to leave this place. They already made enemies of Humans and Angels. This would cause the Specials to be angry. Not to mention that he wasn't even sure if he'd honor his deal with Daemos. There would be enemies from all the races.

Obviously she was not awake so the question was an absurd one to ask. A couple sounds escaped her in her drowsy state and she swatted his hand away from her for a moment and laid there while she attempted to wake herself up. She laid on her stomach and moved her legs so that she was on her knee and her rear stuck up in the air. "Mmmmph... Go away," she muttered in a tone that could only imply she was grouchy.

Finally she pushed up to sit on her knees and she wiped at her eyes before climbing off the bed, "You want to get out or turn away while I change?"

Khalid hesitated a moment. "Sorry for waking you..." he said, scratching the back of his head. "I'll be outside the room. I already talked to Gargan so...whenever you're ready we can head out to talk to that Angel..." He sighed lightly, getting to his feet and walking out of the room. He shut the door behind him, leaning against the wall beside it and slumping to the ground. He wanted to get this over with. He didn't like the idea of interrogation. Especially with an Angel, who was meant to be doing the greater good. He'd just have to deal with it for the time being.

It wasn't long after Khalid had stepped outside that she exited the room and turned towards him, waiting expectantly after she was ready. She had been hasty with removing her garments from the day before and adorning new ones. Rose didn't want to keep her companion waiting too long, she knew that he obviously seemed to be in some kind of hurry to speak with the Angel or he wouldn't have tried to drag her out of bed and tell her they were headed to see him immediately. That and it was hard not to be curious about why the Angel was there in the first place... She'd hardly been able to shake her mind of the possibilities.

"I take it you know the way?" She asked finally and remained where she stood until he began to head down the hall one way or the other to lead her to their destination.

Khalid gave a quick nod, heading back towards the entrance. He reached it quickly, opening the way for them as they reached it. Once there, he saw the Angel sitting on the floor before him, eye closed. He still had the bloodstain on his white robe from the battle the day before and was just sitting there silently.

As the door opened, though, the Angel's eyes opened. "...Sinner."

Khalid raised an eyebrow, stepping out with him. It was obviously unsafe. But who cared? He'd have to do this to talk to him anyway. It was annoying to do so with the barrier separating them. The Angel immediately moved towards his blade, but relaxed as he saw Khalid sit down beside him, cross legged and facing him. "I want you to explain your actions," he said simply, smiling. "Quicker you get it over with, quicker we don't have to be in each other's company."

"...I have nothing to say to you," he said, glaring slightly. He glanced towards the girl afterward. "Or her, for that matter. What is she doing here anyway? The masked one said you'd be talking to me..." He looked to her expectantly, wanting an answer.

Rose followed along with Khalid and had planned to remain quiet while the other two spoke which was the usual for her. She had moved to sit down beside her companion, clasping her hands together and dropping them into her lap for a change. She knew that the question was directed her way since the Angel had spoken to her even if it sounded like he had targeted Khalid with the query instead. She pursed her lips together for a moment while debating on how to answer him.

"Wherever he goes, I go," she stated bluntly. It was how everything had been since their encounter with the king. She wasn't about to leave Khalid's side any time soon either. "I don't plan on leaving you two alone either so you might as well get talking."

The comment was a little bold considering how afraid she was of the Angel, but she lifted her chin up stubbornly to stare at him with a fierce determination and loyalty for her new friend. "Why are you here?"

The Angel snorted. "I'm here because I need to kill him," he stated, gesturing towards Khalid. He was about to continue, but froze there. His head jerked to the side, looking into the woods as if he had heard a sound neither of them could hear. "And this has to wait. I'll return shortly." His wings spread out and he took to the sky, moving towards an area of the forest that was a bit lighter than the rest. Not dark and dank like the Demon Forest, but a bit more normal.

Khalid raised an eyebrow, but rose to his feet. He moved towards the edge of the platform and headed down to follow. He arrived within the forest shortly to find the Angel standing before a woman, another man standing to challenge him. That other man was Daemos.

"You won't touch her!" the Angel shouted, swinging his blade to the side as he prepared to fight Daemos.

But the demon simply laughed as he swung his hand out and sent the Angel out of the way and into a tree. "As if you could stop me..." he said. The woman was hurt. That much was obvious. Her shoulder was cut open, splitting her plain white dress, her golden blond hair falling loosely over her shoulders.

Before the Demon King could move against her, Khalid was in his way. "What's going on here?" he asked, holding his hands out to keep Daemos from moving forward. He didn't know what was happening himself. He knew that she appeared innocent and without reason, he wouldn't let Daemos touch her.

Rosemarie wasn't about to be left alone and was true to her word when it came to her saying that wherever Khalid went, she did as well. Her curiosity was pent up to a massive degree and she couldn't resist following after her companion and the Angel either. She had pushed to her feet and followed her friend, viridian hues snapped over towards where the injured woman was and she sprinted towards her instinctively.

Rose didn't spend time trying to see how serious the wound was. The sight of blood was enough to have her ripping cloth off the bottom of her dress and ripping the rest of the woman's sleeve off so that it wouldn't get matted to her skin, turning the fabric from her own dress into a makeshift bandage. Her hands worked quickly to tie the new bandage and she pressed her hand against the woman's arm, applying pressure to prevent too much blood loss in the event that the cut was a deep one.

"It's going to be alright," she reassured the other female though her eyes were away from the woman at that point and her primary focus was on Daemos and the other two men.

Daemos snarled as he saw Khalid. "Move aside, boy. We're allies for now, but if you get in my way, I will kill you," he stated. His hands clenched at his sides, but he, surprisingly enough, restrained himself. It was clear the Demon King could end him if he truly felt the need to.

Khalid crossed his arms over his chest. "And then you lose your chance of rescuing your son," he replied stubbornly. "What happened here?"

"That's an Angel. One of the ones that attacked you. I'd do you a favor by killing her and finding out why they attacked you," the king said simply.

Khalid shook his head. "No. She seems to have just been picked at random to be attacked," he stated. Then he smiled pleasantly. "Why can't we just get along? I'll be getting your son back and you don't have to bother with the Angels...It'll be fi-"

"And where is my son, boy?" Daemos asked. "I've given you a few days now, enough time to find him. Where is he?"

Khalid winced a bit, but shrugged. "Hundreds of Specials. It'll take more time for me to get to him. I just need you to be patient. Leave the girl alone for now and I'll take her back. Your son will be let out as soon as I can. And, after that-" He was cut off, the smile fading as Daemos' fist slammed into the side of his head. Khalid was sent rocketing across the clearing, smashing head first into a tree. Though, despite the blood stained against it, he was already getting up, the blow softened by his affinity to nature.

"I want him now. You will get the job done tonight. Or be dead next time I see you. Understood!?" Daemos roared. And with that, black flames engulfed him and he was gone.

Rosemarie was filled with a great deal of fear for training to kill Specials and those of other races that proved to be a threat to humans. However, no one would have dared to send some one as newly recruited as she had been after the Demon King. She figured that excused the daunting vibe Daemos emitted while she watched tendrils of shadows turn into flames and remove the demon from her vision. It made her uneasy to think that the man was capable of such an ability when he seemed so dangerous. Surely that meant he was either invisible to their eyes or could transport himself out of their peripherals to attack. Rose doubted he would attack when bringing him his son added into the equation.

Certainly the Demon King was decent enough to care about the well being of his own blood unless he wanted his son for some selfish reason rather than because he cared about him. She only hoped that was the case. Her thoughts were shaken and she allowed her eyes to roam over Khalid before the two Angels were watched. Since Daemos seemed to be gone and they had business to tend to, she spoke to the male Angel. The female seemed fine and Rose had no direct quarrel with her because she hadn't specifically come for Khalid to kill him. As far as she knew anyways. "Why are you here?" She queried finally, keeping her voice firm and demanding. It was better to let him know she meant business so he would do less weaseling out of providing her with a definitive response.

The Angel ignored her completely. He moved over to the woman and knelt beside her, stroking her cheek lightly. He was looking her over, seeing how serious the wounds were. Before anything more could be said, Khalid grabbed his shoulder and pulled him away. He started to struggle, but the boy simply crouched beside the woman in his place and lifted her up.

"What do you think you're doing with her!?" the Angel roared.

Khalid shrugged. "We take her to our healers or she bleeds to death. You can choose what you'd rather have happen," he replied simply before darting out of the forest. He moved quickly, not waiting for Rose for once. It wasn't that he didn't want her to follow, but more the fact that the woman was in danger of dying. He didn't care if the Angels were out to get him. He wouldn't let her die, just like he wouldn't kill the man. Without anything to do, the other Angel ran after him.

It was impossible to fight the scowl that twisted into place on Rose's lips when the Angel still evaded answering her question. She might have smacked him or injured him in some other form were the priorities not changed to the wounded woman. She hadn't really looked at how grave the cuts were. The worst of the injuries were bound with cloth for the time being which helped somewhat, but not much.

She assumed that they would see the woman saw a healer and then begin to interrogate the Angel once more, but she was no longer counting on it. In fact, she wasn't completely sure she really cared anymore because she was so irritated that he had dodged his way around answering her so far. Khalid may have had more rights to ask since he was the one they were after, but she was traveling with him and also entitled to a reason because of that. Rose finally turned and started for the Resistance, staying close behind the others.

Khalid got her inside quickly, bringing her to one of the healers and letting them get to work. As that was done, he walked back towards the first Angel, looking him over. He raised an eyebrow to him for a moment and then shrugged. "Priorities rest with the woman. I could care less why you want to kill me. It won't happen either way," he stated, crossing his arms and sighing. "So you'll stay out there and I'll see to it that the other one is healed."

"I want to see her. Now," he said, glaring at Khalid. "You can't stop me from doing so. I have the power of the Angels on my side. Humans, special or not, are no match for that."

Khalid shrugged. "Believe what you want. You still can't get through the barrier," he sighed. He glanced at Rose. "Come on. We'll have lunch and then check on the girl. She might be awake by then at least..."

She listened to the exchange between Khalid and the Angel before she simply nodded her head to what her traveling companion said at the end. She was hungry as well because she had slept just past the time the cafeteria finished serving breakfast and had accompanied Khalid throughout the day. It was no wonder that her stomach growled when he mentioned food.

She had just started to get her surroundings down though only to the point that she could find their bedroom and the cafeteria. Rose began to walk in the direction of the latter room, allowing Khalid to pass her in case she did actually manage to get herself lost on the way. She was sure he knew the place better than she did.

Khalid walked with her down to the cafeteria, grabbing his own food and waiting for Rose to grab her's. Once both of them had a plate, he moved to one of the unoccupied tables, away from the other Specials so they could talk. "Well...I'm not quite sure if that Angel will be a problem or an asset..." he said quietly, starting to eat his food. "I don't like to think of things like this...but he cared about the female. We could use him by keeping her here..." He shrugged, almost sickened with his own thought. His kind hearted nature wouldn't allow him to do so. But it was something to think on at least.

After a moment, he shrugged. "I think we'll have trouble grabbing the Demon too. I've been watching with my powers," he explained. "The boy's in a...crazed state, I suppose you would say. He'll attack us the moment we open that door. And he's pretty damn strong. We'll be signing a death warrant by going in to capture him." He shook his head, sighing. "Any ideas on how to proceed?"

She didn't grab her food like Khalid seemed to, she used the utensils provided to scoop it onto her plate instead. Afterward, her feet carried her after her travel companion and she seated herself at the table with him. Her eyes searched her surroundings to make sure that the neighboring tables and seats were empty. It did occur to her that Khalid might have already looked, but it didn't hurt to double check with the risk of the Resistance finding out any information about what they were up to. She listened while searching and ate as well before finally speaking when addressed with the question.

"First, I think that we'll have to take necessary measures with the Angel." She offered him a reassuring smile, "We won't hurt either of them unless we're given no choice so there's no reason to feel bad."

Her lips pursed together while she mulled over his query finally. "You take down the door with your ability. Have Kira use her ability over shadow to get me in. I'll talk to him. Since I'm human, he may be able to trust me..."

It was a dangerous suggestion, but it was all she had. There was always the risk of her being attacked. "Perhaps you and your siblings could use your elemental abilities to stifle any loud noise too..."

Khalid's eyes widened a bit and he instantly shook his head. "No, I couldn't let you do that. When I say crazed state, he won't listen to anything," he replied quietly, but quickly. "But...on the other hand...it also seems like he's dying. I don't know what to make of it...but that's the best we have..." He shrugged lightly, looking up to her. "We'll bide our time for now. I want to talk to the angels anyway. Especially the woman. I want to see why the demons were after her. Maybe there's a way she can help."

He paused a moment to eat some of his food before sighing. "This is getting more complicated than I thought it'd be..." he muttered quietly to himself, placing his food down and bringing a hand to massage his temple slowly. "I want to get this over with, but we need to be careful with all the other specials around..."

She listened raptly while he spoke and offered the occasional nod to imply she had been listening. She had already finished her food before his last remark and she rose to her feet with her tray in response, moving over to the station where the trays were to be collected and headed back towards the table to drop down into her seat once more while Khalid consumed the last of his meal.

"Don't worry so much," she reassured him while continuing to make sure that there were no eavesdroppers to speak of. "We'll get out of this easier than you think."

"How do you figure?" Khalid asked quietly. "We've got to get through the boss to kidnap the prince. Then we need to escape the rest of them to leave. Not to mention that we have no where to run after this. Unless we just give him up to the demons. I suppose we have the Demon Forest. But I don't even know if I want to do that..." Lowering his head to rest his forehead on the table, he sighed. Then he lifted his head, smiling reassuringly, becoming more like his usual self again. "Ah, well. Guess there's no helping this." He swung his legs out around the bench and got to his feet to put his tray away. When he returned, he smiled a bit at her. "Want to go rest in the room? I'm just going to talk to the Angel again and see if I can figure out what to do."

She pursed her lips together and nodded her head slowly. "You'll tell me what happens when you get to the room?" She queried uncertainly as though he thought to deprive her of information that was relevant to her current situation as well. She rose to her feet and waved him off. Her feet lead her towards the chambers she shared with Khalid and she allowed herself entry, taking the time to clean herself and change into her clothes before he returned. It wasn't often that she was away from him so she bathed when possible. That and she didn't know when the last time she would be able to clean up before they left so she wanted to take advantage of the situation.

Khalid went off to talk to the Angel. It took some time to convince the others to leave the medical chambers, but he did manage to talk them into leaving him in there alone. Once they were gone, he sat down quietly, beginning to discuss with her. They talked for a good hour before he had enough to be done with it. He returned to their room shortly after, knocking on the door lightly. "It's me. May I come in?" he asked, making sure he wouldn't walk in on her. He didn't need another embarrassing incident like before.

Rose had already done and finished bathing. She wasn't sure how quick the conversation would last. She had initially expected him to talk to the angel for a long time, but there was never any telling. Rose washed herself with such speed that she it was a surprise that she even managed to come clean. The clothes were pulled on with the same haste and she was laying on her back in the middle of the bed while she waited for her travel companion to return to the room.

She was slightly paranoid when there was a knock on the door because there was no telling if the other Specials had already caught on to her. "Come in," she said loud enough to be heard from the hall though there was no controlling the nervous waver of her voice.

Khalid came in, shutting the door quickly behind him. He sighed lightly as he glanced around the room, walking towards the bed. He smiled up at her a bit, scratching the back of his head. "I think I've got a rough idea for a plan now," he said happily, trying to mask his worry and appear perfectly fine, as he normally did. "We won't be bringing the prince to Daemos. I want to ask him some questions myself before I do so. But the Angel has agreed to help us." Shrugging a bit, he sat down on the edge of the bed. "We'll be leaving tomorrow. We're heading for the mountains to the east, along the forests. According to the Angel, we should be able to find a place to hide out for a bit. Even from Daemos. The other Angel should be helping us as well. For the time being anyway. He'll do so if she orders. She's his princess."

He hesitated there, looking her over. "Are you sure you're up for this? The Angels are after us. The kingdom of humans we came from is after us. We'll be making enemies of both the Demons and the Resistance after our escape..." he said slowly. "We'll be breaking out of here tomorrow. But do you want that much pressure on you? We can still sneak you away to another village..." He didn't want to force her into this based on his decisions. He wanted to make sure she would be happy with what she chose. More importantly, he didn't want her to get killed because of his choice. That was what worried him the most. He had always cared more for other people than he had for himself. But, for the first time since he could remember, he was scared that his choice could be wrong. He had never faltered with his decisions before now. But he didn't want to see Rose die or get hurt because of his decision to take Daemos' son away from both the Resistance and the Demons.

She knew the risks involved, but Rose was not about to separate herself from Khalid. Not after they had made it as far as they had. There was a very high chance that she would die during their journey, but hiding out in some village by herself wasn't the brightest idea either. The Demons knew her face as did those of the Resistant, and she couldn't return to the kingdom they had fled from nor could she head home because the soldiers would be looking for her. No matter what she did, she was in danger. So then what was the point in running on her own.

Rose shook her head vehemently in response to his suggestion. "I don't care what you say," she told him stubbornly. "I'll have trouble no matter what. I'm going wherever you go."

Khalid slowly nodded in response, accepting it. "I suppose..." he said, sighing lightly. He hoped to himself that he was making the right decision. He knew it was dangerous where ever they went. But he needed to get the Demon out of here. Daemos had already threatened him for being late. He didn't trust them as much now. He sighed lightly, burying his face in his hands. He hated this. It was getting harder for him to keep up his jovial personality. He was only 17, for God's sake. And he had enemies between all four of the damn races, pretty much. For a moment, he was showing the signs for a kid his age rather than trying to shrug it all off.

Not saying a word, he laid down on the bed, keeping his back turned to her. He didn't like showing his face when he broke from his normal characteristics. He didn't like showing distress in general to others. "I'll be going to sleep...Good night. I'll talk to you more in the morning," he said quietly.

When Khalid laid down and spoke, Rose could kind of tell that he was upset. Her hand reached over to grab his and give it a light squeeze, just a simple gesture of comfort instead of any spoken words. Sometimes actions were bigger than words, and she figured that this was one of those times. She might have said something to reassure him, but she could tell that he wasn't in the mood to speak either.

Instead of bidding him goodnight, she rolled over on to her side with her back facing his and dozed off. She needed her rest, especially since she had an idea that the next day was going to be a long one.

Khalid sighed lightly as he felt her hand. He held onto it gently and returned the squeeze, accepting the comfort. Though, in a way, it just reminded him how big an impact his choice would have. He had no care for his life. He were to die, then it was simply his time to go. He didn't want anything to happen to Rose though. Nevertheless, he did eventually manage to fall asleep. Though, his sleep would be fitful. He had dreams of his failure throughout the night, playing through in his head, just exemplifying how he had felt.

As morning came, he found himself rolled over, holding Rose. It was pretty early yet, having not been able to sleep. But he blushed slightly as he noticed his position. It hadn't been anything intimate. But he had been worried for her and, in that way, he subconsciously had moved himself to hold her. Sort of to protect her. He didn't let go though, despite his blush. He held her gently, not wanting to get up and face what he would be doing that day. It would be quite a day with their escape planned. And he wasn't looking forward to it one bit. It just meant all the danger would start anew for them.

Rose didn't realize she was being held until she awoke and because of the contact and the fact that she had yet to open her eyes, she leaned back against Khalid. A flush of the cheeks and a rise of blood to her features would have happened either way even if she hadn't mistaken him for someone else. However, she was used to sharing her bed with the woman she grew up with and not the man who now occupied it. "Good morning, Sanae."

It took a few minutes for her to actually wake up and realize that Sanae wasn't anywhere near her and that the one holding her was not her cousin, but her travel companion. She assumed that Khalid was still asleep and that throwing his arm around her was an accident that took place during his sleep. She wasn't about to hassle him for it if he really was still dozed off or if he managed to pretend to be and convinced her. If he was awake then that was another story.

Rose's hand moved to the arm in front of her and she shook it lightly, whispering loudly instead of speaking. "Khalid... Wake up." She said his name louder the next time in an almost hissing manner, "Khalid."

Khalid, having been dozing off a bit after initially waking up, cracked his eyes open. "Hm...?" he murmured tiredly. Then his eyes opened fully as he realized what he was doing. He moved away from her, taking his arm away. "Sorry!" he said quickly in a whisper, eyes wide. He knew it would be odd to think he'd done that while they were awake, given the fact that they were only traveling companions. He hadn't thought about when she woke up. It had simply comforted him a little bit, knowing that he was most likely going to risk her life and his siblings lives in the plan he had thought up.

He started to get up quickly after that, getting out of his bed. "I suppose we should probably get ready...I'll need to explain the plan to my siblings and get the Angel to help me get the prince out..." he said quietly, moving away from what he had been doing. He didn't really want to talk about it. He was doing better at keeping up his joyful facade now. Better than he had been doing yesterday.

She nodded her head silently when he apologized and moved into a sitting position, shifting onto her knees and watching as he backed away from her. She wasn't sure if he was doing that because he was embarrassed or because he wanted her to wait there until he returned. "Should I stay here for now?"

There was a pause as she debated if he would have time to come get her before he broke out. She didn't think he would leave her there alone if he had any say in it, but that didn't mean he wouldn't be caught and be unable to reach her. If that was the case then she was screwed because she had come into the Resistance camp with him. Then there was also the possibility of them trying to take her out on an assignment and prodding her for not displaying any kind of ability. They would surely interrogate her. She shook the thoughts away for the moment, "If I do stay... Promise you won't leave without me?"

Khalid smiled a bit at her. "Of course I won't," he replied, shrugging. "I wouldn't want to cause more trouble for you. I doubt you could avoid it if you stayed here when I left." He shrugged lightly. "You can come for now. But you'll need to be quiet. The way I believe our plan to work is that Kira will get us to the room through the shadows. Once there, I can destroy the door with my power over metal. The princess will subdue the prince and we'll flee. Given the fact that an alarm will most likely go off, Jiko will use his power over earth to give the rest of the Resistance hell in trying to follow us through the mountain fortress. Once we're out, we run. Hopefully Jiko's power will help speed things up with wind." He sighed. "That's what I've been planning for anyway. The Angel won't attack us with his princess in tow."

She listened raptly and rose to her feet. "I can do that," she told him and tried to keep a brave face. She was daunted by how the events would unfold. The Resistance contained nothing, but Specials. She only hoped that when they caught on that their abilities weren't enough to stop the small group.

"Lead the way then," she told him. She had a feeling that when Khalid left the room, he didn't plan to come back.

Khalid stepped out, letting her out as well before shutting the door. He walked over to Kira's room, knocking on the door. When it was answered, he and Rose were allowed inside. There, Khalid went over the explanation again to Kira and Jiko. The two would be needed for their little mission to succeed. Once it was all squared away, Kira let her powers come out. The shadows hid them away as they left the room. Though, before they went any further, he glanced towards Rose. "You sure you're ready?" he asked her hesitantly, still worried for his plan. There were too many variables to take into account that could easily ruin the plan for them. Still, he didn't think there was any other way.

Since Kira and Jiko had only recently made their relation to Khalid known, Rose found it hard to believe that they wouldn't blow the plan up by ratting her and her travel companion out. That is unless they planned to escape themselves, but it was difficult not to be paranoid about being exposed as a traitor. She certainly had a lot on her plate to worry about, but she was trying to stay strong and keep it from showing in her face. The fear wouldn't leave her eyes though so she answered Khalid's question while keeping her gaze averted. "Yes, I'm ready."

As she said that, Khalid led them down to the medical room. As they reached it, he smiled to see the nurses gone. They had left the Angel, seeing her as, for the most part, stable. She'd live. Helping her off the bed, Khalid brought her to Kira, letting the shadows engulf her the same way. With the Angel included now, they moved towards Gargan's room. Opening the door, they found the giant of a man sleeping at his desk. So it was easy to sneak past him. Jiko stopped there, waiting at the doorway. He would be needed as a distraction if Gargan awoke. They wouldn't be able to escape from him easily.

As they reached the metal door, Khalid pressed his palm against it. The metal began to bend away, opening a hole. But the moment it did, a terrible screech rang out as the prince of Demons leapt at them. The moment it got close, the Angel's hand was placed against his forehead. The boy froze in place, staring blankly at them. But shrieked again, this time in pain, as light erupted from it. The Demon passed out there. A crash came from the room nearby. Gargan was awake from the screeching. "We've got to go," Khalid said quickly, lifting the Angel up. Kira dragged the boy out, managing to carry him. Khalid darted towards the door, expecting the others to follow. Gargan was pinned against a wall, not moving from stunned shocked over the blow. The ground had risen up and slammed him back into the wall so only his face was showing, the rest of the area beside Jiko bent up to keep him pinned there.

Rose did her best to remain silent and follow the group accordingly. She didn't know if Kira's ability could keep in sound or not, but she hoped that if it didn't then no one picked up on their breathing.

She noticed that everything seemed to be going exactly as Khalid had planned at first. That is until the Demon prince emitted such a harsh sound. Rose flinched when it reached her ears and she covered them at first until the Angel quieted him.

She saw that Gargan was trapped, but she had no idea what kind of ability the man possessed and she was not about to linger around and find out. Her feet moved quickly to keep up with the others while they continued to make their escape.

As the group exited, Jiko turned and fled too. He kept up with the others easily. The shadows were gone now, having no effect regardless. It was clear that they were there. It didn't matter now. The Specials were beginning to form to stop them. Jiko raised his hands to stop them, but four orbs suddenly crashed into the ground in front of them. Smoke erupted from them and Geisho landed behind them. "Keep going. They shouldn't be able to follow easily. Not even Gargan," he said, sounding amused beneath his mask.

Khalid just took the chance, running again. He grabbed Rose's hand to make sure she was keeping up, not even realizing he had done so. It was almost similar to the chase in town. Except, the metal became as light as a feather for them instead of weighing them down which helped their speed. The opposite effect could be said for those behind them. As they reached the end, Jiko clapped his hands once and the earth around it pushed up, flinging the boulder away to allow them through. As they got through, Khalid turned around and held his hands out. "Go along the edge of the forest. I'll catch up in a moment," he said quietly. Vines were beginning to crawl up from around them, pushing the boulder back in place. After they had more or less locked the Specials in for a bit, he'd run to catch up with them.

Everything around her was a blur, mostly because her heart was beating against her ribs with fear. She tightened her fingers around Khalid's hand and tried to keep a firm grip of it. She wasn't as fast of a runner as he was and she felt herself struggling to keep up. Rose quickened her pace even though she could feel the burn in her legs and her feet slipping out from underneath her slightly. She did manage to refrain from falling though.

When Khalid stopped and spoke, she nodded briefly and pulled her hand away before following his orders. She didn't doubt that he would catch up, but she hoped the other Specials didn't over power him because she had no idea what to do from there on out without him.

Still, when she thought about the abilities she had witness from the Specials - it made her able to see why the Humans would try to get rid of them. Those Specials were powerful and a threat as well. Sure, there were some of them who wouldn't hurt anyone. There were always those who were greedy and would use what innate power they had for their own selfish reasons. It was because of people like them that Khalid and his siblings would be hunted, but she had added herself to that roster by aiding their cause.

Kira and Jiko kept themselves back to stay with Rose, wanting to make sure she made it out with them. Geisho kept ahead for the most part. But, after a few minutes of running, movement was heard behind them. Turning around, the others would see Khalid coming, riding the large snake-like Demon that had brought them to the hideout in the first place. It slowed as it got close to the others. Khalid just grinned a bit. "Hop on. He's going to help us," he said. When the Angels looked skeptical, he shrugged. "His duty is to the prince. Not Daemos."

The male Angel sighed and let his wings come out, starting to take flight to keep up with the Demon. The Specials and the prince would have to take to riding the snake.

To Rose, the Demons all looked the same for the most part. If she had seen the one Khalid appeared with then she was unaware of it. She still wasn't keen on riding the beasts around, but she was going with Khalid through thick and thin in order to stay safe. She placed her hands on the scaled surface on the creature's back and pulled herself up behind her travel companion. She grimaced at the texture of the Demon's skin and wished that she hadn't worn a dress. Not only was it impractical, but she could feel the scales against her legs.

Rose tried her best to ignore the unpleasant feeling and wrapped her arms around Khalid's waist while waiting for the others to get into place. At least that way, she didn't have to walk or run anymore. That and the method of travel was probably faster than it would have been had the Demon never showed up.

The Demon took them away from the forest, following Khalid's instructions for the most part. It was rather obedient, considering that it was one of Daemos' minions. It seemed it was true that his first duty was to the prince, not the king. After a while, the Demon began to slow. It had left the kingdom behind in a matter of hours, slowing as it entered a desert. It glanced back. "Where now, masssssster?" it asked in its snake-like drawl.

Khalid froze, thinking. Then sighed. "I never thought that far through...Let's see if we can find anyone..." he said, waving the problem off. "I would feel safer if we made it to a cave and placed some wards over it to keep Daemos, the Angels, and the Humans out. So...I think there's a city settled in this desert that is known for that type of thing. Hopefully we can hire someone to help us with a few wards to keep them out if we hide out in a cave or some such place." He shrugged, hoping it would be enough to hold their pursuers off for the time being.

"I know it may be a bit of a stretch and I don't know if you will agree with it, but..." There was a pause as though Rose were debating whether to withdraw her thought after already having begun it or to continue with her suggestion. It seemed she had come to a somewhat quick decision for a moment later she resumed where she left off. "Whenever I did something bad or threatened to, my mother told me she would send me Castygis. It's somewhere in Kuzma which I would assume is the kingdom we are in now?"

As far as Rose knew, Kuzma was all desert and was not only the largest desert around, but one of the only ones as well. "Anyways," she continued, "Castygis is situated on the edge of Kuzma and borders the Athos Sea from what I've been told. There is a lot of underground slave trade which I doubt we will want to get involved in, but I am sure we could find someone there who would be willing to help us?"

It was a start and everyone else seemed in a bit of predicament about their next move. "I am sure that whoever we get to help us out will want something in return for their services though so we'll need to think that through."

Khalid smiled a bit at the idea. "Sounds like a plan," he replied. "We'll stop by the city I have in mind. See if we can pick up some materials for the wards I have in my mind to protect us. From there, we move to Castygis. Does that sound good to everyone?" he asked, happy to have a definite plan of action. Kira and Jiko nodded, as did Geisho. The Angels continued to fly, though the male had to help the weakened princess as she had not fully recovered. As it was, everything seemed to be going well. The snake demon continued to bring them through the desert at its blinding speed, searching for the city. "We'll stop outside. Humans will have easier access than Demons and Angels. We can move from there."

"It would be our best interest," she agreed at those last words. "A Special could go without notice and might not even be paid any mind, but a Demon or an Angel would surely attract more attention than we need right now. It wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't a chance of being followed."

Rose knew it could definitely be annoying to have more than one person trying to offer ideas or being in charge, but she felt like she was more of a burden for not trying to put forth any ideas even if they were a restatement of Khalid's suggestion.

"Which of us will be staying behind and which of us will be entering the city?" She inquired.

Kira shook her head a bit. "Jiko and I should stay out here. If we're in the desert, Jiko can use his powers to mask us. And, come nightfall, I can mask our presence better with shadows," she stated. "Easier for everyone that way. Obviously the Angels and the Demon stays..."

Khalid shrugged. "I'll be going in. I'll leave it up to you two who else goes," he offered, gesturing between Rose and Geisho. "Rose has no chance of being noticed. And probably our best bet at a warning should I get caught. She's not a Special so she has nothing to limit her access. And if I get caught around her, she can easily play dumb and act disgusted in me for realizing that I'm one. As for Geisho...might be helpful. I don't know much about recruiting. But, since you worked for the Resistance, you should have some idea of how to get this stuff for a cheaper price..."

Geisho gave a small nod, agreeing to the idea. He'd go along to help find someone or the necessary items in order to take care of their wards.

"Sounds like a plan to me, and if they are alerted by you or Geisho then I can return here if I have to so we can come back for you. We don't really know what the penalty in Kuzma is for being a special if they have one." Kuzma being the desert kingdom that they had entered.

"I suppose we should get moving then so we can get back here and find somewhere to hide out as quickly as possible." There was a pause. She could handle wearing the same clothes if she had to and going without a bath if need be. They weren't necessities, however Rose was trying to plan ahead. "Did you plan to pick up some food in the city as well or just the words?" Somehow the prospect of hunting just didn't appease her. It actually made her feel sick to her stomach.

Khalid nodded slowly. "I suppose we should. The problem comes in carrying everything. It'll weigh us down a bit," he said, scratching the back of his head. "We'll see what we can do." He knelt down, placing his hands on the ground. Slowly, plants sprouted from the sand. Desert plants, no where near what they would need to survive and most of them poisonous. But, using the other half of his power, the plants turned metallic slowly. They formed coins, shaping into currency for them to use. It didn't take long to have enough to buy food for a month and still have plenty left over. "While Geisho and I search out the wards, you can take care of getting our supplies."

"You'll know something happened if you see a large explosion in the air," Geisho said. "I'll be sure of that much. It'll be noisy if they wanna capture me." He laughed lightly, grinning as he hopped off the snake. They had stopped on the outskirts of a large walled city. Not much could be seen beyond the wall. But there was nothing else for miles in all directions.

She watched while Khalid conjured his own currency. She had been curious where they would get enough to purchase the items required. She hadn't served the king in Slynth long enough to receive payment and her mother hadn't given her much. "I would say that you could buy a horse and saddle bags to carry some of the items, but I'm not sure an animal like that would be able to keep up."

After all, they had made it to Kuzma in a matter of hours and it should have taken days if not weeks. Forest green hues studied her surroundings and attempted to bore through the wall that barred her and her companions from the city. "Let's just get moving. You can make that decision when we get there." She was eager to get what they required and leave. Rose did not want to waste any time if she could help it because she was so sure that one of those they had pitted against themselves would seek them out.

Khalid gave a nod. "Probably for the best," he said quietly. He patted Jiko's shoulder as he passed. "Conceal yourselves after we're gone. I don't want to know what your hiding spot looks like. Less information for me to give out, should we be captured." Jiko nodded, letting them leave. He led the group towards the gates, smiling happily at the guards as he reverted back to his normal carefree self. The way he had been when Rose first met him. "Hello, sirs. May we have entrance? We have need of supplies before we continue our journey to Slynth."

One of the guards, looking at him suspiciously, placed a hand on his sword. "A long way to come to just be going to Slynth, isn't it?" he asked. It was clear they didn't get many visitors. And why would they? They were in the center of a desert.

"Ah, well...you see...I've come from across the ocean. I docked at the port Castygis only a little while ago with my companions here," he said, scratching the back of his head. "I wasn't prepared for this. I thought I was only an hour away from Slynth. Not two days. It looks like a shorter trip on the maps..."

The guard looked at him incredulously, but the second one shook his head. "Let them through. What's the worst that can happen? They're young," he said, sighing a bit. After gratefully thanking the guards, Khalid, Rose, and Geisho were allowed entrance into the city, free to explore it and gather supplies.

Rose was curious as to why the guards would act so suspicious of them for entering the city in order to gather supplies for the trip. Even more curious was the fact that the men didn't inquire as to why they were heading all the way to Slynth. Either way, she didn't think that Khalid was as familiar with where they were and how far had traveled. She chose to blame it on the fact that they had made their way to their current location by riding the demon. It was significantly faster. When she pondered over the fact that they had come across a small chain of mountains and were still some ways off from Castygis, the trip to Slynth would have taken at least a week by carriage. Through some reflection of her studies, Rose did manage to deduce that they were probably getting ready to enter Boluar which explained why the guards were so curious.

If they were indeed headed to Slynth then they were going in the wrong way to get supplies if they had actually come from Castygis which they hadn't. It didn't matter. She could have easily been wrong and it was no use fretting over. It wasn't as though the guards planned to come after them just for lying and they couldn't rightly call them out on such a thing if they didn't stir up any trouble. Meanwhile, Rose remained silent and left Geisho and Khalid to do the purchasing.

Khalid headed off on his own for a bit, letting Geisho go search in his own way. It was rather peaceful in the small city. So he'd be able to travel around, for the most part, without worry. Guards were sparse. There was little need, living in the middle of the desert. That didn't change the fact that he was worried that he didn't know the landscape enough. He knew this city somewhat. At least, what it was known for. The geography, though, was lost on him. He had no idea where in Kuzma they were. Just that he wanted to get away from here as quickly as possible. They needed to find a small place to make their base of operations. To guard against the Demons and Angels. He figured the Angels wouldn't be a problem with their princess in tow. However, now they had a problem to deal with in terms of Humans and Special Humans. It wasn't looking that bright for them.

Rose wasn't an empath, but she was so familiar with worry and fear that the signs were clear on Khalid's face. At first, she walked alongside him in silence. When his expression still seemed troubled, her hand slid forward to find his and her fingers laced between his in a reassuring manner. The corners of her mouth perked up to form a smile. "It's going to be okay, yeah?"

So far, her companion was the one who had been putting up the brave face and pulling the role of the leader. The latter may not have been something she was comfortable with taking on, but she could at least try and lift some of the worry from his shoulders. "I'll protect you," she insisted and gave his hand a firm squeeze.

Khalid smiled a bit, returning the squeeze. "It will be," he replied. He sighed lightly, glancing around at the area to try to figure out where to head to first in an attempt of getting what he needed together. Rose had been right. They'd need some supplies to get them by. Food, clothing, normal necessities. On top of that, he needed to get materials together to make a ward. And instructions on how to make a ward. Otherwise, he'd have little to no defense against the Demons. He may be able to fight a few of them with his siblings...but if it came to the Demon King, they would fail miserably.

After a moment, he stopped in front of one of the stalls arranged. It had a few fruits and such for sale. Enough to get them by for a few days if they would buy some. He nudged Rose forward as he saw them. "Collect as much as you think we'll need. Jiko should be able to keep them fresh while we're traveling with his powers," he explained quietly. "I'll see if I can find what else we need."

Rose had not known Jiko would be able to keep the fruit in the state that it was already in, but it didn't help too much. She had no idea how much Khalid had as far as coin went and he couldn't exactly conjure more in the middle of the city either. She supposed he could disappear down an empty alley if need be, but there was still a slight chance of getting caught.

Either way, Rose began to compile a supply of food. She had no idea how long they would be in hiding. Her guess was that it would be a considerable amount of time. Even so, they could afford to move to the closest city every so often to gather more materials if they were required. For the moment they would have to deal with what they had.

Rose lifted her skirt up and loaded the items into the makeshift pouch. They didn't really have any bags or anything else to carry the items in, but Rose didn't think that Khalid would have any trouble constructing some kind of metal container if he had to.

However, she realized that her companion had left her to her own devices while he had left. She probably should have paid better attention when he announced his leave. She would wait there and she may have only had some coin so the amount left when she was done purchasing the food wasn't enough to buy anything else.

Rose remained where Khalid had left her, surveying the area around her for his reappearance.

Khalid returned a few moments later. He didn't have much left in terms of supplies. He hadn't found anything for the wards. But as he approached Rose, he froze midstep, hearing a loud explosion. Then he heard shouts of Specials being in the area. Moving towards Rose again, he took her hand and tugged her in the direction of the entrance. "It's probably Geisho. Let's leave while we can," he whispered quickly. He didn't want to be around when Geisho came around. That'd cause more trouble for the group. The rest of them would hide with the small party and wait for Geisho, when he wasn't being followed by people. He figured the man could fend for himself until then.

Rose heard the explosion too and she jumped, having been startled by the noise. She moved her feet quickly to keep up with Khalid, albeit not fast enough to stir suspicion from those around her. One hand held to him while her other fingers gripped at the edge of her skirt to keep a hold of the fruit gathered in it.

Rose assumed that Khalid or one of his siblings would come back for Geisho if he didn't seek them out himself. Either way, she could only hope for the best that their companion wouldn't be harmed. An explosion like that was bound to lead him straight to the gallows.

As the two of them reached the gates, Khalid broke out into a run, bringing her along with him. It only took moments to find the group, hiding behind some stones that acted as an outcropping in the desert. It was let down momentarily for them to enter before being placed up again. Khalid sighed as he sat down. "What the hell did that idiot do..." he muttered. He was annoyed that Geisho drew attention to himself. Mostly because it put a damper on the plans as a whole. It made things harder. He still hadn't found anything for the wards they needed.

Moments later, Geisho shot out of the gate, followed by five men. Throwing a bomb down, it exploded into smoke and he darted away. He just made it into the outcropping and sealed it back before the others could see again. They spread out, searching for their lost prey. Geisho just laughed quietly. "Sorry about that. You guys get all the supplies?" he asked.

He got shoved back into the wall by Khalid, looking annoyed now. "What the hell are you doing? You could have screwed everything up. They saw us enter with you!" he said, glaring at the man. It was a complete contrast to his usual self.

Geisho shrugged. "But you didn't. So be happy that you're alive, I'd say," he replied, stepping back and sitting. "I say we wait for an hour and then head out. We should be able to find something." He leaned back against the stone wall, his face impassive behind the mask. Though his words were careless. It was clear he didn't care all that much about endangering them.

Rose had hoped that the plan would be a foolproof one if anything, but she learned that his devil may care attitude only made him seem like the least responsible of anything. Khalid may have actually acted furious, but she was boiling underneath the surface. Rose could feel the heat rising to her face with each moment.

"If you're just going to throw yourself out there then perhaps you should stay behind with the others when we get to Castygis," she grumbled. She still wasn't entirely sure what the port held for them, but she knew that they would have a better time blending in given the place's association. That was if their explosive companion didn't bring notice to them. "Unless you want to separate from the group now. We don't need you causing us trouble, Geisho."

Rose was already daunted enough about their group being exploited and endangered so the fact that one of their own was blowing their cover only upset her more.

"You're such an idiot," she muttered.

"You all need to lighten up," Geisho replied easily. "You're all so serious. If you're going to be like this, you're going to jump at every little thing. May as well die if that's the case. There's no real point in living like that." He yawned. "Wake me in an hour. We can start moving again then. I want to head south."

"Who says you get to choose where we're going?" Khalid asked, clearly still annoyed. "You almost got us killed. That's not being carefree. That's causing problems. Maybe Rose has a point..." He crossed his arms and sat down. For him, personally, he was worse out here. He was out of his element. From controlling nature, he always had a communion with nature. It calmed him. And being away from any form of nature in the desert just brought his anger out with more ferocity.

Geisho shrugged. "Suit yourself. If you want to get a place to stay on the way to Castygis, that would be the place. And once there, we can rest easy. No one would be looking that far from the city," he said. "But your call if you just want to trek all the way to Castygis."

"You're wrong," she snapped at Geisho. "We're all going to die if you blow our cover. We're probably being tracked down by the Humans, the Angels, the Demons, and the Specials at this point. Not to mention that there are probably wanted posters going up in several of the cities at this point with sketches of mine and Khalid's faces. You are not helping."

Rose felt completely uncomfortable with Geisho in their group and tensions had already been high before as a result of them being hunted down. They did not need to create enemies among themselves, but it was hard not to be completely infuriated with the Resistance outlaw.

"If you take a look at any map then there aren't any cities to the south," she informed Geisho while trying to regain her calm. She would be able to keep composure as long as he wasn't in the mood to keep arguing. "At least there aren't any bigger ones and it doesn't make sense to head to the south. Castygis is north-east from here."

Even though Rose had little to offer in terms of capabilities in a fight or otherwise, she did know her geography. If that was all she had to offer the group then so be it.

Geisho straightened a bit, looking at Rose and shrugged. "I don't think it's your call. What do the rest of you think?" he asked. For the most part, people didn't agree with Geisho. Simply because he seemed to be a loose cannon to their group. More of a danger than an asset.

"You're from the Resistance. How do I know you aren't just trying to bring us back? Ensure your position as a spy? It would make sense why you blew our cover before..." Khalid said, crossing his arms.

Geisho shrugged again and stood up. "Then let me out. If there's nothing else, I'll be heading south," he said. Jiko let the wall drop and the man stepped out, slipping his hands into his pockets. He darted away after that, disappearing a few moments later. Khalid relaxed a bit, curling up against the rock wall to rest as his siblings looked at him curiously. The snake demon stayed curled up around his prince while the Angels kept to themselves.

Somehow, she felt more uncomfortable with Geisho leaving the group if there was really a possibility of being a spy. He would be better able to key the other members of the Resistance in on where they were going. "Maybe Castygis isn't such a bright idea now," she murmured.

"I mean..." She cast a meaningful glance to the south. "We should get moving in case there are members of the Resistance where he's headed, but I suggest we find somewhere else to head to finish gathering what we need. Or we could head to Castygis, but I would recommend that I wait at the entrance of the city if that happens. I can tell the guards that they are Specials and it will give us a chance to escape?"

"It's a possibility...but if Castygis is a port city, all we need to do is take a ship and leave. If Specials are coming after us, I'll fight them," Khalid said quietly, not moving from his spot. He was trying to think about what to do. Castygis did sound like the best option. A port city offered more avenue of escape. On the other hand, if Geisho had been a spy, then he'd know where they were heading. "Let's get some sleep. We can move in the morning. It's getting late..."

Rose suspected that Khalid was right as far as taking the ship out if they had to, but she didn't like the idea of sleeping yet. Not when she knew that Geisho might send the Resistance in that direction. She was grateful that the Demon was with them. If anything, they could clear the distance to Castygis much more quickly. She suspected that on foot or carriage, the Resistance would take a couple of days or so at the minimum.

She may have been wrong though. Every Special Human had a different ability. Who wasn't to say that one of them was incredibly fast? It was just like Rose to fear the worst too, but she tried her best to lay down and let the night pass over her so they could push ahead. It wouldn't be easy dozing off, but she would try.

After a while, Khalid sighed quietly. Everyone else had dozed off at this point, but he had never managed to sleep. He slowly started to pick himself up, hoping no one would wake. He wanted to check on this before they continued to Castygis. It had been bothering him. And, truthfully, he was too kind of a person. The fact that Geisho went off on his own worried him that the Special may have been walking to his own grave, should others find him. So, silently, he began to leave the confines of their makeshift camp and head towards the south. It'd be a long trek. He was hoping that the fact that he could lighten his load by making metal weightless would help speed things up.

Rose was a light sleeper by nature, but the fact that she wasn't in a bed made it all that much worse. She had a lot on her mind and trouble even falling asleep, but somehow managed to stir at the slightest movement. She had been prepared to wake the others initially until she realized that Khalid's movement was what had arisen her. She watched him begin to move away and felt uncomfortable with him going it alone. She didn't know entirely where he was headed or even why he was leaving, but she had a vague idea that it had something to do with Geisho since he was moving to the south. It was in the opposite direction they would be going when the rest woke up.

Even if she weren't so utterly convinced that Khalid wasn't walking to his own funeral, she would have accompanied him. She did not suspect that he would separate himself from the group without intentions of returning, but she had informed him from the beginning that he wasn't going anywhere without her. It was for that reason that she had moved to her feet. Rose had stored the food on the ground for the time being. Most of the items were packaged in paper or something or could be washed because they happened to be fruits and vegetables.

She did not want to have to carry a skirt full of items when she took after Khalid. At first, she ran to catch up with him because he had moved a considerable distance by the time she had slipped out of the camp area. It didn't take too long to catch up with her companion because he had only been walking quickly if anything, but she was winded by the time she approached him. Rose's hand reached out to grab at his wrist and get his attention. "Where are you headed?" She was sure she already knew where, but she didn't know why.

Khalid's eyes widened a bit as he glanced at her. "I'm...just going for a walk..." he said awkwardly. He didn't want her to follow. He was worried Geisho may be heading towards danger. If he was, he'd want to help. if he happened to be a spy, he could take care of the problems before they became too great. Give the others more time to leave. "Just...head back to camp. I should be back by morning. If not, start heading out. I can catch up later." He knew clearly that he couldn't. Not in the desert. He would have a chance in a forest or anywhere with nature. He'd never keep up with the snake demon otherwise.

Rose shook her head slowly. "No... Either you come back to camp with me or else I'm coming with," she insisted stubbornly. Her chin was lifted in a somewhat defiant manner. She knew very well that if he still asked her to stay behind after that, she would most likely respect his wishes on the manner. It still didn't stop her from trying to persuade him in letting her tag along after him. Rose was also very aware that with his being a Special, he could force her to fall back and leave her at camp.

However, the entire group was hard for her to trust. She thought the worst of every situation lately, but that was mostly the fear kicking in which only escalated her paranoia to higher levels. Those people at the camp were with Khalid more than they were with her though. She could not risk his not returning because Khalid was the only one she thought she could bank on not throwing her out to the sharks. Any of the others could turn on her at any given moment.

"You do realize," she murmured and looked back towards where the others still were before continuing, "That if they notice you left on your own and you don't return and they find out that I allowed you to... They'll blame me and accuse me. Everyone's tense. The last thing I need is them coming after me because you disappeared and I was aware of it. Just let me come along," she pleaded further. "I'll stay quiet and if anything bad happens then I can duck back and go to the others for help." She thought her plan was a solid one, but she didn't know if Khalid would feel that way. She could very well tell that he was likely to blame himself if she saw any harm because he let her travel with him.

"It's dangerous," Khalid replied quietly. "I'm risking you enough with everything I've done so far. I'd rather take care of things on my own. If it were up to me, I'd drop you off in a village and leave so you don't have to be troubled with this anymore." He sighed. "I've been trying to help protect you since we met and you had to chase me down. It'd suck if I let that all go to rest, eh?" He smiled good naturedly, trying to make light of the situation. His feelings were true. He didn't want her in danger. He'd prefer to stick it out by himself and risk himself. If something went wrong, the others could continue without him. That would be for the best. They'd avoid the trap he'd walk into.

Rose wanted more than anything to argue until he let her come along. Her lips pursed together and her brows were drawn inwards. An exasperated and reluctant sigh was seized from her before she finally nodded her head. It was very evident that she was hesitant to let him leave by himself. "When do you expect to be back, and how long should we wait?"

It was best to figure out how long they should await his return if they were required to head off without him though Rose was sure if Khalid didn't show, she would insist the group move for the south in order to find him. She knew what direction he was moving for and that it was probably tied to Geisho which was enough information for the time being.

"You don't wait. If I'm not back, you leave immediately. Chances are, something happened. And you'd do best to be away from me by that point in order to protect the group," Khalid told her quietly. "If I'm not back by morning, leave then head to Castygis and take a boat to Vintya. There should be a small independent city. Take refuge there. Angels and Demons go into hiding. The Angels can rest until they're up to leaving. The Demons rest until the prince can travel on his own. Those are my orders. You should be safe there."

Rose bobbed her head absently. "Take care," she murmured. It was only then that she realized her hand still held his wrist. She gave it an awkward squeeze before turning around. She knew that she would be tempted to head south bound if Khalid never came back, but it was probably for the best that she didn't. That last thing she needed on her plate was a guilty conscience for insisting the group search for him only to have the Resistance or one of their other enemies harm them.

She was not able to sleep after reaching camp. She was far too worried. Rose mostly sat up, staring off in the direction that her companion had moved in while waiting for the re-approach of his figure. She did know that if Khalid survived under some circumstance and did manage to make it away from wherever he was that he would probably head to Vintya of his own accord. She was almost positive of it whether or not she knew him well at all.

After a while, the sun began to rise. Day was coming. "Where's Khalid?" Jiko asked quietly, looking around before looking squarely at Rose. His stone covering stayed up around the group, protecting them somewhat from the cold desert winds. Although scorching in the daytime, it was freezing come nightfall. "Did he leave us to go after Geisho?" It was an easy guess, considering that he left the group after Geisho ran off.

"I think so," Rose admitted and a sheepish grin formed. She could only hope that they wouldn't take their brother's absence out on her. That is if he truly was their brother. "He headed south," she informed him.

"I'm sure he's fine," she said to reassure them though it definitely sounded that she told them that more to reassure herself than them based on her voice and worried expression. "He said to head to Castygis as planned and take a boat over to Vintya. We'll go into hiding as soon as we get there. The Angels can leave from there when they're fully rested and the same with the Demons as soon as the prince is able to move on his own. If Khalid is fine then he will meet us there, I'm sure of it."

Rose moved to her feet and began to gather the food. She didn't have much coin left after purchasing it and with Khalid gone, they would have to ration their meals properly unless someone else had some gold pieces to spare.

Once Rose had gathered everything, she spoke once more. "We should get going. Chances are that if Geisho is a spy then members of the Resistance located in Kuzma will be coming after us as well. We don't know how many of them there are or what are chances are."

Jiko stood up at hearing that, nodding his head once. "Right then. I'm heading south," he said simply, stretching his legs a bit. He was in his element here. Using the earth, he could travel much faster than Khalid could on his own. Kira was about to argue, but Jiko cut her off, continuing. "Why did Khalid bring the Angels and the Demons with us? The Angels was because of the princess. Gives us a bargaining chip with the Angels themselves. We'll be fine from them. Once we're free and let her go, we should be fine. But the Demons? We made enemies with them in order to take him away. If Khalid will let them go, he most likely isn't returning if he doesn't arrive at Castygis with us. He expects to die in an ambush if Geisho does happen to be a spy."

Kira's eyes widened a bit at his explanation, realizing it was probably true.

Rose had wanted to go after Khalid, but at his request had fallen back. The fact that Jiko wanted to head south for him gave her the opportunity to do so. She had honestly hoped, and convinced, herself that Khalid would reunite with them in Vintya. After hearing his brother's logic, she knew that he wouldn't and it only encouraged her to want to seek him out all the more.

"We need to go," she said. She didn't know what exactly she was going to do with the food that they had acquired. She didn't exactly have a sack or container to place it in. The only thing she could do was to pull up the outer part of her skirt and tie it into place. It only made her thankful for the ruffled fabric underneath which prevented shots of her legs.

"Is everyone else ready?" She asked. Admittedly, she didn't know if Jiko planned to go it alone like his sibling before him. Rose wasn't about to let that happen though and she suspected Kira wouldn't allow it either.

Jiko waved it off. "I can handle it, you should all go ahead," he said. "I don't know what's going on, but it could be enough to stop Khalid. It's probably dangerous no matter how many of us go." He started to glance around the group to see how they felt about it.

His gaze stopped at Kira who was simply frowning in annoyance.

"No. You aren't going alone," she stated, walking forward. "We all go to Khalid."

The snake demon raised its head curiously at them, but, understanding the situation, he wrapped its take around the demon prince and placed him on his back before moving to allow the others on. They'd get there much quicker with him than running off on foot.

Rose was unhappy with Jiko's going alone as well. If Khalid hadn't made it back, what made him think that he would be able to return? It didn't matter if Jiko's abilities were stronger than his brother's or not. There were ways to dampen abilities or render them obsolete for a period of time.

When Kira spoke, she managed to summon the same courage as she had and take charge similar to how his sister had. "Yes, we're all going." She was already throwing one leg over the Demon's back and sliding up into place. She wasn't giving Jiko the time or opportunity to try and convince them otherwise.

Kira gave a nod, hopping onto the back of the snake as well. She grinned a bit as she got on, happy to have an excuse to go with Jiko to save their brother.

The male Angel moved forward, looking at them briefly before looking at the princess. Then he sighed. "One of us should stay back for the Demon and the princess. I'll stay here..." He bowed his head a bit, glancing back at his princess meaningfully. He wanted to make sure she was safe.

Jiko snorted. "You want to leave. I don't think it wise to trust you alone with them," he stated. "Unwise choice for us to do so." He didn't trust the Angel that much, the male one at least. The Angel caused too many problems. It'd just cause more to trust him alone with the prince and princess.

He was about to continue, when the Angel shook his head slowly. The princess rose to her feet, walking over to the Demon prince and sitting down beside him, kneeling over him. "We won't leave," she explained simply. "I have no intention of leaving. Khalid has tried to help me. I trust him. And he won't leave if I refuse to come. He is duty bound to protect me."

The male bowed his head, resigned. He knew it was true.

Jiko just nodded his head slowly in consent, trusting that logic.

Of all the people in their group, Rose found it hard to trust the male Angel over anyone else. She was with the others as far as putting faith in him went. The princess' reassurance caused her to believe the woman. She felt more at ease with leaving them there if that were the case. It probably was a good idea for two or three people to remain at the camp as well.

If, for some reason, Khalid crossed paths with them and ended up where they had been then the Angels could intercept their companion. "Sounds fine to me," she murmured finally while still waiting for Jiko to climb on the snake so that they could pursue Khalid's path. They didn't have too much time to waste. As fast as the snake creature was, they still couldn't afford to dilly dally. Their companion may not have been taken captive or saw harm yet, but it could happen in the few seconds that were spent at camp.

Jiko sighed, getting onto the snake's back as well. With the rest of the group insisting on this, he may as well take this transportation. He could have caught up on foot due to his abilities, but no point in wasting his energy when he could ride on the demon. As the group got situated, the snake took off through the desert. It moved quickly, blurring past the trees. As things would have it, it wouldn't be long to find Khalid. Though he had met up with Geisho, it appeared that no one else was around. They were both in front of a small shack, talking quietly to each other. As far as the group could see, they were alone. It didn't seem to be a trap either with no place really to hide for an ambush.

Rose was quiet for the duration of the trip, albeit it was a very short one. She could see how traveling on the back of the Demon could make any distance seem significantly shorter. Everything rushed by in a blur during the ride and it made her queasy enough to discourage her from climbing onto the serpentine creature's back at all.

Those eyes immediately scaled her surroundings for the presence of others and transfixed on the entrance of the shack behind Khalid and Geisho in a studious and precautious manner. Just because the situation seemed innocent enough didn't mean it was and she wasn't taking chances. A somewhat guilty smile was given to her main companion, however. It was understood that she was not supposed to let anyone come after him. That much he had made clear.

Khalid glanced over at her, sighing lightly as he saw them. "I thought I told you not to follow me," he said, sounding tired. He kept annoyance out of his voice, trying to stay optimistic and friendly like he normally was. But it was clear he'd be annoyed with coming after him into possible danger.

"Well, that just shows that they're loyal to their leader, doesn't it?" Geisho asked, laughing at the group that had come after them. "Besides, no danger here, as you can see. Those kids in the shack will help us. They need to make a living somehow. And their job at the moment won't suffice. So...we'll have our wards."

"For the last time, I'm not forcing two kids to join us!" Khalid turned on him. "They can't be more than ten! I'm not bringing them to be chased by Angels, and Demons, and Specials! The world is after us. I won't make them suffer the same fate we have to!"

Rose was about to inform Khalid that his new found siblings wouldn't listen, particularly his brother. If she were honest with herself, she found it strange that he was so easy to trust them and worry about their lives and vice versa. She didn't even quite trust Khalid completely, but paranoia ran through her veins no matter the situation. She was always inclined to suspicion with others, she couldn't help it.

Then there was Geisho - she didn't know what to think in regards to him. Her eyes averted away from the group and she stared at the door of the shack. Granted, she only knew what they both were saying after she and the others arrived and not all of the details. It didn't prevent her from throwing in her two bits though. "There are already nine of us," she said. "Do you want to draw more attention to ourselves by making our party bigger? I thought we were going into hiding, not heading off to war." She fixated her gaze on Geisho, "What purpose could two kids even provide us?"

Geisho laughed. "They're magicians. Their parents were quite famous," he explained. "One of them is gifted in making wards. That's what we're looking for now. The other one is well versed in other types of magic. That will be helpful in any situation. They are ordinary humans, but they learned these gifts from their parents. We can bring the two with us. We're already against Demons and Angels. We need the help. Especially the wards. I'm afraid the Demon King will already be searching for us. And he'll find us soon."

Khalid shook his head, moving in front of Geisho again. "And I say I'm not sending two children to war!" he said sternly, not stopping his argument. "I don't care how helpful they are. They're no more than ten. Why would you send them to battle against Demons?" He shook his head. "And I know we're going into hiding and not to battle. But they will find us eventually. Ward or no. The ward was only meant to keep them at bay while we could figure out how to escape them."

Rose wasn't entirely certain where to stand at that point. Geisho and Khalid both had fair arguments. For once, she had to admit that the former said something she could agree with.

"I propose this then," she announced with authority while studying the two men until she was positive that she held their attention. Once both were captivated, she continued. "We will take the two children with us to Castygis. There we will have them inform us of the materials we need and teach us how to make whatever wards we need. Once we know how to do that, we part ways with them at the port city or take them with."

She folded her arms across her chest and began to speak further as though she were suddenly the mother of the group, "I think it's a compromise that you can both agree on for the time being? After all, we don't know how easy it will be to find another who has skill with making the wards so it saves some wasted time and it isn't exactly taking them out to war. It's just until we reach Castygis and I do believe that they are capable of deciding if they would even be willing to leave the shack or not."

"I'm sure the excitement of it all would encourage kids to accompany us," she rambled. "But it's a thought at least."

Khalid glanced at her for a moment and then sighed. "We'd be taking them from their home. It's just as bad," he stated. "And if anyone sees them with us, they become targets as being associated with us. The Demons won't show them mercy. Perhaps the humans will. But, just as well, they could kill them for helping us in the first place. I don't like the idea at all." He crossed his arms, sighing lightly. Even with the compromise, he didn't like the idea of bringing children out to face what they had to face. Even if only to Castygis.

Rose would have argued that the children were gifted in wards and could probably place them on themselves as well as use cloaks as a means of disguise. It was a measure they could have taken as a part of the compromise. Either way, she would have been disagreeing with one of her traveling companions. Tensions were continuing to rise and everyone in the group was probably stir crazy.

"You're probably right and think about it... Kids cause a lot of trouble when they get bored or agitated. They would draw attention to us and themselves and probably worsen are situation so maybe they should stay behind. If we are to find someone who is skilled with wards then Castygis still might be a better place to look even if it does take a while..."

Geisho sighed. "You don't understand. We won't find anyone at Castygis," he replied quietly. "I don't want to take a couple of brats just as much as you don't. But the moment you tell any ward user who we face, they'll leave us. Worse, they'll point us out to keep themselves in good favor." Shaking his head, he pointed at the cabin. "They can put wards on us as we travel. Then set up a base for us with those wards defending our land. No one else would do it except some idealistic kids who think they're going on an adventure to become heroes. I don't like tricking anyone just as much as you don't. But we won't survive otherwise."

Rose found that she had to agree with Geisho once more. No matter how she looked at it, he was right. She didn't like to admit it, but they were probably going to have to bring the kids along. "Khalid," she said his name and directed her attention his way. "I have to take Geisho's side. We're going to have to take them with or go without wards. Even if we find another who can make the wards for us, we risk exposure so there's little point in finding someone who can do it if not them."

"Then we can go without wards," Khalid replied stubbornly. "I don't think it's necessary to drag children into a problem like the one we're in. Worse comes to worse, you all hide yourself and I draw their attention to me. At least the majority of us can escape."

"...They offered us a place to rest for the night. How about we at least accept that?" Geisho replied. "We can rest here. It might do our Demon friend a little good to not have to rush us a few leagues away. And we can set off tomorrow morning. Maybe he can give us some fundamentals on wards. If one of us learns to use them, it should be fine."

Khalid hesitated there, conceding that the masked man did have a point. "Fine. We'll rest here. But I refuse to take the kids with us. We leave tomorrow morning at dawn," he stated. "We can use the day to rest before we actually have to move to Castygis."

Rose had assumed that they would be journeying to Castygis that morning, not the next. She was a little disappointed to realize that the trip would be prolonged. Still, she was relieved that someone in the group would be learning how to use the words. The thought of detection did not appeal to her at all. She had no idea what they were supposed to do for the day though.

"Shouldn't we go back for the Angels?" She asked the two since they had finally reached an agreement. "I'm sure they will leave if we stay here all day."

Khalid nodded slightly. "Do you mind?" he asked, looking up at the snake. It shook its head slowly, not caring in the least. This was what he was here for. To help Khalid in any way and, to that end, help his master, the prince. So, without another word, it turned and took off towards the place they were in before. Khalid just sighed lightly, turning away from the group. "I'm going to look around a bit more. I'll be back in a bit."

Rose seated herself on the ground after Khalid left, waiting ever so patiently. She hated all of this. If she could go home to her mother and Sanae, she would. She wouldn't be able to navigate that far and it would take well over a month on her own though. Not to mention that she had no wilderness survival techniques at all. Leaving the group wasn't a good idea anyways and she was being looked for. Khalid had said at the beginning that they could go to Lagoir, but the kingdom she had served would be going to her home in Lenore. She definitely couldn't risk it.

While he was away, a boy came out from the small hut. "Who are you people?" he asked cautiously, eying the girl carefully. "We heard the shouting...If you're here to hurt us, you won't get inside easily..." He was clearly scared of her. And the rest of the group too. He held a knife in his hand tightly, but was trembling terribly. His clothing was in tatters, clearly worn from use. Not much they could do in the middle of a desert. "I won't let you hurt me or my sister..." He was holding the knife defensively, but it was clear he had no experience with it.

The way that Rose had interpreted it, Geisho made it sound like the children had already offered to let them stay for the night. Khalid was gone though so he couldn't object to the comment. She didn't understand how he knew of their gifts in that case, but such questions could late until later if they were to be even asked. His sister though... She had assumed both children were boys though there could have been more than two as well. She wasn't entirely certain.

"Don't worry," she assured him while attempting to effect a motherly tone and keep a soothing sound while she spoke to him. "We're not here to hurt anyone. You have my word."

Her lips pursed thoughtfully before she continued. "My friends told me that you and your sister have gifts? Do you think we could stay here and learn how to make wards?" She was very hopeful that she could somehow sway the boy, but wasn't positive she could do a decent job of it. Still, she was probably one of the most likely to do so if any in the group at all made the attempt. She figured that none of the others were even aware of how to handle youth.

The boy looked confused for a moment, but then his look hardened. As much as it could for a small boy anyway. He shook his head. "Mother told us never to talk to strangers. We won't teach you anything," he stated. "Mother also told us not to trust soldiers. You all have weapons. I don't trust any of you." His dagger wavered, but he kept it held up, ready to attack her if she tried to attack him. It was obvious he would lose, but he'd try at least.

"I am not a soldier," she assured him and drew the letter 'x' over the right side of her chest. "Cross my heart and hope to die." She had been a soldier, but that changed after she had met Khalid. She was no longer a part of them. Her attire was more befitting of a civilian. The soldiers who hunted the Special Humans were not given uniforms until after they could boast a decent share of experience out on the field. Her first mission had been botched and resulted in the situation with Khalid. A sword would have been too flashy and she had not properly received training with one.

All she knew how to wield was a dagger and the green liquid that was used to inject a dampener into the Special Human's bloodstream. She had no dampener on her person and the dagger was set on the ground before her as a sign of a truce. "We are not here to hurt you and have no wish to put you in harm's way or have the soldiers come for you. Our weapons are merely for self defense. If you'd like then I will have all my companions remove their weapons as well. You can trust me," she insisted. "My name is Rosemarie."

The boy hesitated, glancing over at the others who were talking. He turned his attention back to her. "Why are you here?" he asked quietly. "Only soldiers and bandits come here. I stopped that. How did you get here and why are you here?" He was clearly still scared. But he was more scared at the fact that they managed to get here than the fact that they appeared to be armed. He had placed wards around their little encampment. And he wasn't sure how they got around those wards.

"My friends have gifts," Rose admitted, "But I can assure you that the rumors about Special Humans aren't true." She had no idea if the boy was a Special or not. Just because he could place wards did not necessarily mean that he was Special. The wards could have been comprise of ingredients or something. He could have used science for the wards. How else was he supposed to teach one of them how to do it? Was a Special required to place the wards or could someone like her do it. Either way, females were always more adept at persuasion for the most part. A child would lighten up to her over Khalid or Geisho. Kira she didn't know well enough to know whether the woman would be capable of talking the kid into helping them.

"There are some Special Humans who are chaotic because they cannot control their abilities and there are those who abuse their power. I assure you that these men here..." They were mostly men. "They only use their abilities as a means of defense and staying alive. Those soldiers and bandits? They are enemies of ours as much as they are yours. I have no reason to harm you in any way or take you or steal from you. All I ask is that you show me what you can do so that we can better stay hidden ourselves." Now she could only hope that her words would sway the boy to take to her.
