Chapter One: The Attempted Failure and The Unexpected Vacation
Dust walked along the grassy lawns of the glen barefooted. He wore a black suit pants and a dress shirt to match. His red tie flung about in the wind as he took small puffs on his cigar. He was amongst the crowd, his orange eyes looking about and his nose picking up the delicious smells of the feast.
A figure wondered the Harvest Festival in search of something. His head was turning slowly from side to side until he spotted Dust and gave an evil smile. Now it was just a matter of waiting for the most opportune moment.
Dust could feel the strange presence of another being starring him down. He looked about to see that man again. He took another puff of his cigar before putting it out and standing to his feet. He nodded to the man and walked over to him. Dust was motioning for him to follow him into the forests edge just outside of the party. The sound of the Luau could still be heard, the people laughing and conversing. He stood behind a tree and waited for the man to come around.
He saw Dust move about and followed. Secretly his hand moved to his back and took out a sharp dagger and quickly moved around the tree to Dust. Thrusting his dagger quickly to where he thought would do the most amount of damage. His heart would be ideal.
He saw the knife and grabbed it as it landed deep into his chest. He quickly sighed for a moment and looked down to see it embedded into his chest. "Damn you, bugs are beginning to annoy me." He reached his hand up to grab holes of the man?s neck and let his hand heat up with energy. forcing heated plasma to come from his hand and heat the air molecules around them.
"Tell your priests to burn in hell." He let go of the man?s neck and walked away and back towards the party. He had nearly forgotten that a knife was sticking out from his chest. He gripped onto the handle and pulled it out. His Corium Blood spewed out for a few moments before he begin to heal himself for the moment till he could be better looked at.
His neck burned and stung, and very quickly he could feel his throat swell. Blood vessels popped and simmered,? You bastard.? He fell to his knees, then face down as his body lost all feeling and he drifted off.
"Damn assassins. Always trying to get rid of me in some way. The blackness of his blood covered his shirt and smelled like sweet sugar. He knew no one would know his blood was black as the night and smirked about it. Although the large cut on his shirt would cause some questions later on. He walked back into the party and yelled out to Antonio. "Eh comrade, could you make me another Martini?"
Antonio mixes the martini, and sets it on the bar for Dust,? Martini up!?
He grabbed his Martini and walked back away from the party to take a better look at the body he just disconnected. He knelt down and looked over the body closely. Implants on the back of the neck signified that the assassin was indeed working under one of the priests. Why the priests would want him dead now and so soon was beyond him now, but he knew this would come sooner or later. It was a good thing his wife wasn't here to see all this. Dust rolled the body over to look in the pockets.
The entire face was eaten away now and caved in. He smirked at the sight and hadn't seen any real action since he was given the crown. The pockets were full of daggers. No doubt it was an assassin to come after him. The tattoo on the man?s collar bone had shown a burning snake wrapped around a women. Now he was sure it was the priests. He took another drink of his Martini and looked in the last pocket.. "Here it is." He pulled out a rolled up writ of the Priesthood and tucked it into his own pocket.
He sat the Martini down and grabbed both arm, pulling him to the nearby lake and letting his body float along the surface. Orange eyes looked about to find a large rock or something and found a nicely sized rock. He picked the heavy stone up and tossed it out over the lake, watching it land on the floating body and taking it down to the lake bed. He laughed as he walked off to retrieve his Martini and commented on his throw. "I think that was better than the Bal toss." Snickered and grabbed his drink.
Sarah slowly made her way down the winding path. She had her fingers in her pocket and a smirk on her lips. Between those lips was a lit cigarette burning in spirals as she took in all the noises. Copper hues danced over the crowed and her head turned side to side. Her brows lifted and she paused on the edge, best way to be seen possibly. Her dark green dress fitting snugly over her figure as she murmured to herself," My my, quite the party..."
He tore the grass skirt off from his hips and let it land to the ground as he walked away. Dumping the Martini as well and setting it down on one of the near by tables. He would have to make his trip quick. He activated his ComSat and zoned into his contact.. "Sir Andre.. go to my safe house on 15th street and grab the pink key off from the key hook on the door and drop it off at our usual spot......." He listened to the response.. "I chose pink because it's was the only color left in the hardware store.. look stop asking me questions and just get the key. I'll meet you at the checkpoint in 10."
With that said he walked away from the party and could see the path leading right into the city. He spun around on his heels to take on final look at the party and the crowd. He had spotted his wife just as he felt her ripple. "damn-it.." He said under his breath. He stopped, folding his arms over his chest and waited for her to catch up. "I was wondering when you would show up? How was the trip?"
Grass skirt and a Martini..? Sarah followed the trail starting with the skirt. Memorizing it before it left his figure, he actually looked good in it. She grinned and observed for a moment. She was still moving on her toes slowly until he turned about. She picked up pace and smiled brightly. Her hair pinned up in a small bun by chopsticks a few strands curling out over her face. It looked like way back when her hair was short and she didn't even need pin stop pull off the look her hair was done in.
She paused for a moment where his arms had crossed over his chest and her brow arched. Smirking she moved to join his side and spoke softly," The trip was alright, the fall was better. Yet here I am." She beamed lightly to him and then snickered," Should have kept the grass skirt on. It looked great."
"Thanks." He looked up to the sky for a moment and seeing the moon. Figuring out what time it was almost immediately then looked to the path way leading to the city. He leaned over to her and gave her a kiss. "I missed you." He could smell the sweet sugar like scent that the blood on his chest gave off. He was wondering if she would catch the scent as well and know that he was bleed. His black shirt had made a good cover for his blood to blend into. It was the smell he was worried about most.
"Uhm.. hunn, I need to make a quick trip into town. I completely had forgotten about my mask for the festival. You know me and my masks. I'll only be about 15 minutes." He gave her that pleasant smile of his and looked to the path leading to the city, being able to see the city form where he stood.
She would kiss him back and smile. It wouldn't be long before her nostrils would pick up on that smell. Her brow rose higher and her head tilted to the side. Sarah's face went from light and delightful to a very strong concerned," Dust... Why do I smell blood?" How could Sarah not know that scent? Honestly before she had become a core she was a werewolf feeding off the stuff. She mirrored his stance and folded her arms over her chest," What did you do?" She ignored the part about him running off for ten or fifteen minutes. Her questioning gaze growing as she leaned in and sniffed," It's coming from you..." Her head lifted and she curiously peered at him," Isn't it?" Did she really have to ask?
He grinned to his and popped open her shirt, showing off the nice little dagger that broke off into his chest. Black blood was slowly pouring from the center of his chest. 'Knight to King, are you there? Knight to King, over.' Dust could hear Sir Andre over his ComSat clear as day, 'I'm dropping the key off above the door in the alleyway off of 22nd and 3rd avenue. Over' Dust cleared his throat and smiled to Sarah. "I was attacked by an assassin." He kept it simple, short, and to the point. Again he heard Sir Andre over the ComSat, 'Sir, is everything okay? Over.' He bared a grin as he mumbled.. "King to Knight, I'm a bit busy at the moment. Over." Knowing Sarah would have heard him mumbling over his ComSat.
Was that supposed to make her comfortable? Her eyes budged wide when she saw the remains of the dagger and gritted her teeth. She listened to him as he spoke about the assassin. The woman was not happy and it showed, but for now she was more worried about her husband," Please tell me the one who did this didn't get away?" Honestly she had started to walk past him towards the path he was eyeing. She only paused for a moment to turn and look at him," Well come one and take me where you're going so I can get you-" She paused and pointed towards his mumbling," What did King just say to Knight?" Her head tilted and she drummed her fingers on her arms. Nagging and concern seemed to almost be on the same level, or just really riding on a thin line.
"Uhm.. I didn't.. say.. that." He looked to her trying to hide the fact that he was talking over his ComSat and smiled to her. "I.. uhm.. said Your looking good to knight. Do..you want to.. get busy.. Uhm.." the rest mention something about bending over.. He gave her an evil yet teasing grin.. even in pain he was ready for some one on one action.
Sarah just gave him a flat look. Her fingers pointed to his chest and she sighed," Common love lets go get you cleaned up. We can talk about how bad of a white lie that was later." Shaking her head and rolling her eyes she started to move back down the path. Not a clue where they were going, but she was sure he would take the lead eventually. She smirked lightly and mumbled," We'll also discuss just how busy you want to be while I take care of you." Snickering and thinking of just what she'd enjoy right about now with it being her birthday and all.
He walked along side of her and could see the city only a few hundred yards away. Thinking about the alley way where the key was he begin to see it clearly, right above the back door leading into the underground gambling casino.. Oh this was just great. How could that Andre leave the key in such an obvious place? He looked to his wife talking about his white lie and grinned.. "Who said I was lying about that?" He raised a brow to her and looked her up and down. He had to admit, she was dazzling in that dress with her hair all done up nicely the way she did.
They walked down the streets together; he was like an efficient GPS computer. He knew where he was and where he was going. Taking a turn down one of the first alley ways he came across and seeing a few men sitting guard to the back door of the casino he smiled to them and simply reached up and grabbed the key, then ran back down out of the alleyways to meet up with Sarah.. "Heh, got it." He said, holding up the pink key to let her see.
Sarah knew he liked her hair short. She was thinking about cutting it again for him soon, but she wouldn't tell him when. Surprises were better that way. She looked to him as he spoke and smirked," Well... You're still covering something up Dust Belarus..." She blushed softly when he looked her up and down. His grin was always charming in a twisted way.
Even when he was being his most mischievous she was always able to adore him. While they walked down the streets together she'd send a glance every now and then in his direction until he got the key. She blinked and examined the key," It's pink..." Her eyes locked with his and she questioned," What kind of safe house has pink for a key?" Not that she was making fun or anything. Though her grin said otherwise.
"If only I got a gold coin or Imperial Credit every time somebody asked me that question.. I'd be rich!" He thought for a moment and snickered, "Wait, I'm already rich." He laughed and continued walking. The steps to the underground train station could be seen where they were. Soon they came to the steps and walked down to the lower city limits. a ticket booth was near the train tracks, and lining the walls was a series of lockers. That pink key went to one of them.
He fit the key into 337 and turned. the locker popped up with a clank, inside was a brand new black suit and red tie with a new pair of shoes all of which was wrapped in clear plastic with some odd code names printed on the labels. Other items within the locker was a handgun, clips, field knife, piano wire, and some cigars with matched. He quickly stripped himself of his clothes and handed them to Sarah,? mind throwing those in that trash can over there??
Sarah went blank as he stripped in the middle of the station. Leave it to Dust to show no shame. She snickered and nodded," Should I burn them as well for security reasons Dear?" She teased as she meandered towards the trash can and plopped them in the bin. Her hands clapped together before she turned to look back to him. Taking in the view of her husband for a moment and sighing," Sure... now you decide to tease." She moved back over to him and blinked," Let me see your chest...." Suddenly she was very serious, even when her eyes locked with his.
As he saw her moving over to the trash can to throw his old clothes away he pulled the broken off blade of the dagger from his chest and looked at it. It was obvious this was at the hands of the Priesthood. He threw on his suit and correctly knotted up his tie and adjusted it. She took the gun and placing it within the confines of his suit jacket. The field knife was tucked up his sleeve, cigars in his breast pocket along with the matches, The piano wire was wrapped and tucked into his back pocket along with the broken blade of the dagger. He smiled and looked to his wife and raised a brow, "My chest will heal up quickly. It didn't scratch my core thank goodness."
Even after his reassurance she still stood there with a flat look on her face. Sarah folded her arms as if she was waiting for something and sighed," Just tell me what's going on. Why would anyone attack you Dust Belarus? Why is it everywhere you must go, you have to look over your shoulder?" Yeah she was worried, but it was her life she was looking at. All complied together in the man across from her. Smiling to him she moved to run her fingers over his tie and line it up a bit for him,"
He turned around to see Sir Andre on the other side of the tracks looking at the two of them. Andre was pointing at the male bathroom right next to the train lockers. Dust looked back and nodded followed by a smile. He looked to Sarah for a short moment and held his hand up letting her know to wait one moment. He quietly and slowly walked over to the door of the men?s bathroom with his hand in his jacket, slowly pulling the gun out.
He opened the bath room door with ease and sneaked in. The door quietly shut behind him and flashed came from the edges of the doors like a camera flash going off. A yelp you be heard and a man wearing a monks robe limped out from the bathroom with his knee cap blown out and his shoulders shot up. Dust soon came out after and pointed the gun to the man. "Why are the priests coming after me now? Where are they? And what are their names?"
The man spit at the ground in front of Dust and began to chant in another tongue. Dust quickly ran over to the man grabbing him by the robes and tossed him onto the train tracks. "Answer me you black book worshipping prick!" the tunnel lit up and the sound of a trains horn echoes through the tunnel. Dust looked to the man and waved his hand as if saying good luck and good bye, shooting the man in the center of the forehead and watching the train fly over the body with ease. He looked to his wife with a grin, and still had in his head the questions she asked earlier about him if he didn't go one day without some sort of trouble then he'd be bored.. He grinned and commented, "quite so."
Then walked over to her grabbing her hand and leading her up the stairway to the surface streets," Of course, it would be best if we left the city. There's no telling how many more there are in the area." Then he thought for a moment about the Mountain, "Shit.." He popped onto his ComSat and began rambling on ciphered codes and emergency calls, "Black Bird 1.0.1. - White Magma is in the muffins. I repeat, Grab your Shells, and write your ABC's. Over" Some gibberish came over the other end as he looked to Sarah, holding her hand," Looks like you got your wish. An early vacation after all."
Sarah took up leaning against the lockers and waiting. Dust was at play so it was okay. Her fingers drummed over her arm and she only blinked once, maybe twice as the sound of a scuffle came from the bathroom. Her head turned about from side to side, looking for anything unusual or out of place. She wasn't quite sure what to make of the whole situation other than the fact that she was glad she finally got to see him on a day he wasn't teaching the guards.
Sarah saw the grin and smirked to him," Have fun?" She said as they moved up the stairs. In her eyes anyone who touched her family should meet the same fate as the one now painting the tracks with his blood. She snickered and squeezed his hand tightly;" Can we go have some fun now?" Even though she knew he was having quite an enjoyable evening, but she was eager for some one on one time with her husband.
He smiled giving her a gentle kiss and then holding onto her tight as he pushed off from the ground, their bodies leaving the earth and with oddly striped speeds they found themselves on an air ship of the color blue. He looked about the ship. It was a large chunk of a mountain with trees and water all over it. The under belly of the rock was made from wood and thick plates of iron to form a ship looking base.
Rooters spun and a large air balloon hung above their heads. At the side of this ship was a large hole leading into the rock. His personal ship parked inside with the landing gear down. It was funny how these odd turn of events took place. "I hope your ready.. now where to?" He asked as he led her down some steps built into the side of the rock like airship, leading them to that large hole mentioned earlier.
Sarah blinked and looked to him as he said early vacation. She arched a brow upwards and wriggled her nose lightly. Her eyes took in the city and she held onto Dust. She clicked her teeth and turned to look back to him again. Obviously this assassination attempt was something that she had figured was, well.. worse then he was letting on. She was as ready as she could be, well, as ready as she would be for any adventure he had to offer at that point. She took one more glance to his chest and her scowl was back.
She followed him, careful of the steps she took and making sure they were out of ear shot," You know when we get into our quarters I'm going to have some rather serious questions for you." She was serious and stern, after all what were wives for? She made sure to keep up with him even as he asked her where to. That took some thought and she sighed," I don't care where just as long as it's somewhere where I can keep my eyes on you Dust Belarus. You sure as hell know how to make a woman worry about you." She puffed lightly and reached up to pull the chopsticks from her hair. The golden locks came spiraling down over her shoulders as she rushed about. Locks bouncing with each step she took.
He walked into the hole in the side of this rock like air ship and there it was. It was a beauty, althought nothing compared to his lovely wife. It was grey and yellow. the engine itself took up most of the ship, which led most people to believe it was capable of being a luxury ship and a battle ready ship. But Dust had hoped not to run into any trouble, He just needed to solve this problem and solve it fast. he looked to his wife and then to the cargo bay ramp as it lowered.
"Better to get aboard now before we're spotted again. He walked up the loading ramp and straight to the cockpit. His IDAU four legged bot was standing at the controls and was ready to navigate the ship to where ever he desired. Patting the four legged bot over the head he then looked back down the hall to see he their quarters at the very end. He looked back to the IDAU and said, "you know where to take us, so take us there safely." He then walked to the back of the ship and rested himself on to the bed. Now hoping his wifey was aboard before that loading ramp had closed shut.
He didn't have to say it again, or hope that she was there. She moved up after him even though she was growing more aggravated at the lack of sense her husband was making. She had moved with ease back towards him, her jacket coming off as he settled onto the bed. She plopped it down anywhere at that point and leaned to the side. Her tribal tattoo danced up and down her right arm and disappearing down beyond her dress as she sighed. For a moment she weighed what to do next. Her voice came with a worried tone," What's going on Dust? Just tell me what's going on."
She was slightly afraid, but not so much. She knew that with them together they both would be safe, but with what happened while she was away still weighing on her shoulders. Still she stood there, a good bit away from him, not wanting him to distract her and lessen her worries by being wonderful or saying something to make her swoon as usual in situations like this. Again her arms folded and she kept focus, really wishing he'd give her the chance to at least look over his chest, even if it was just a flesh wound.
He sat up and leaned off from the bed, kick off his shoes and taking off his pants and shirt. The slight movement of the ship could be felt as they began to take off from the airship and ascend into space. He knew when they were in the outer orbit and just entering outer space when that sudden fluid smoothness of the ship took over that rigid inner atmosphere shaking, almost like turbulence. He looked to her with those orange eyes of his and lay back down on the bed. "Well come on over here and take a look at my chest wound while I fill you in with the details." He didn't smile or try to tempt her with his charm.
He just laid there and looked up to the ceiling of their quarters.. "those assassins who attacked me. they are part of a rather large brotherhood of men who started out with good intentions. To preserve and protect common lore and facts that were spread across the universe. Over the last few millennia did they become corrupted with power, being able to twist any the facts they so well preserved to their advantage. They now call themselves the Priesthood, they know the truth of the Imperial Core race and see them as Demons and devils. A race of Imperial Cores that tries to twist the minds of man and try to use their evil to take over the entire universe... but you know as well as I do that those are lies of the Priesthood." He thought for a moment as he still looked to the ceiling, the ship now leaving the gravitational pull of the Planet of Rhy'Din. The four legged IDAU bot stood at the controls with its tail wagging and setting a course for the planet of the Corbin Family. The Economical Power aspect of the core Empire.
Sarah didn't have to be told. She was already kicking off her heels and concentrating. Her palm folded flat and she thought of gauze, bandages, rubbing alcohol and whatever else would come in a standard first aid kit. She felt the contents appear in a box and sighed. She was already picking up on her new skills so easily.
More monkey see monkey do. Her form moved over to the edge of the bed and she settled down on her knees. Her feet were off the edge of the bed as she leaned over and opened the kit. She didn't care if it was pointless. While he spoke she would nurse his wound. Nodding to show she understood what he was saying to her. Her hands would move to her dress and tare a good clump of it from her frame along her right let. She poured the cleaner on it as she settled down.
Her hands lead to his cut and dabbed at the opening, even then she was careful in what she did. She cleaned the flesh and turned her orange eyes upwards to look in his," So they seek to be rid of us is that it?" It was the only question she had as she moved back to the kit. Her tone was just as serious as his own. She fumbled with the gauze until she had a good amount gathered up and placed over his chest. Before she would tape it up however she formed a silver charm without blinking an eye. It was no more than the size of a quarter, but it was enough. It didn't have the usual S that came from when she last used this method, it was a B and she took this charm rather seriously. She pressed her lips to the coin and exhaled against it.
For a moment it would glow then fade back to its silver sheen. She tucked it under one of the layers of the gauze and slowly started to tape it down. For a moment her fingers paused over the charm and made sure it was secure. Her eyes closing and her hands moving to fold over her lap," They sure know how to make a new core welcome don't they?" She was trying to be a bit light in the mood even though she was plotting how to take the next monk she saw from the priesthood limb from limb for harming Dust.
He sighed as he felt her touch the wound and looked it over, oddly enough.. he felt the pain of that dagger. Thinking it was enchanted in some way, he knew he had to take a closer look at the dagger that was in the back pocket of his pants on the floor. He cleared his throat before speaking again.. "Anyways.. They have it written in stone that the Demons... or correctly said, Imperials Cores.. are a dying race and soon they would be wiped from the face of the universe. Boy were they wrong. They soon discovered that we both had ascended and I had become Emperor and you Empress. Because they have told the entire universe that Imperial Cores are Demons and dying out... and even more so... you'll find this part humorous.. that the there was no such thing a Celestial Cores.. that they were a demonic myth among pagans. the truth is that Celestial Cores are the basis of their order.. Remember I told you that Their mission in life was to protect common Lore and the true word of the creator?"
He smirked and soon laughed.. "Celestial Cores are their words of truth. If word got out that they were a brotherhood that worshipped demons.. they would be killed. If you've noticed. Their Symbol of truth was.." He pointed to a hologrid nearby the bed and it popped up exactly what he was talking about, an old cloth in one of their museums. It bore the symbol of a man and women joined at the hands with large white flower with six pedals in the background. He smirked. "Now their new spiffy little logo of truth is..." the hologrid popped up with a large black iron shield held by one of the high priests. The Shield was cleverly design with a black figure of a women with a burning snake wrapped around her. "Now tell me.. which one do you think looks more demonic?"
The fact that the imagery was so different almost made her sick. She knew it was a mockery of Ash and Aya, knew that the symbol of the empire was taking a blow by even being put in the same light. Her head turned to him and she kept from cursing a few times before she spoke," So basically they won't stop until they're all dead or we're dead. Frankly dear that sucks, even seems like they're a group of fools just dressing up and playing tough. Still there is one thing that aggravates me more than anything Dust. You got hurt. That's not forgivable Dust. And if I have to I'll make everyone of them pay..." She kept her voice from braking, her anger and aggravation at it's peek while she muttered," If something happened to you I don't know what I'd do Dust... I don't know what I'd do."
Orange hues moved to look to him; she turned to trail her fingers over the arm she knew he had given for her. Swallowing she looked down at it and sighed," But I'm pretty sure it would be along the same lines as what you did for me last night. In fact I swear it Dust." She shook her head. Sarah couldn't see a life without Dust, hell she had a hard enough time when he was gone for weeks on end. But this was different. Someone out there was threatening to take him away from her permanently and she would have a few things to say about that. Hell she'd have more than just something to say to offer to those righteous pricks that had the audacity to call themselves monks.
"Have no worries hunn. What angers me and makes me almost scared is one little detail in that picture there." He pointed to the black figured women wrapped tightly with a burning snake. He smirked.. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." He snickered to himself as he sat up some, feeling the pain of his chest wound begin to subside some; he knew that dagger did something strange to him.
"Let me ask you a question.. and to be honest I wouldn't know the answer to this unless I actually paid attention to my instructors back on Mahikanah." He chuckled once more looking from that holorgrid back to Sarah, "More importantly, that women entangled in that snake.. do you know she is? And do you know what that burning snake represents?" He cleared his throat for a moment and sighed for a moment..
If Sarah could go by the stand point that was Earth religious point of view she would think of only one way to answer that question. She came to settle down, her legs hanging off the edge of the bed as she sat there, observing that symbol for a few silent moments. Her hair fell in her face and she drew in a ragged breath," It's Eve isn't it? Or in this case the mother of all Cores. My guess is the snake is like the Devil back home. It was because of her being tempted by the devil to eat the forbidden fruit. It was because of her that both Adam and she were cast away from grace and Eden."
That was how she saw it at least," They are trying to show that Eve was a demon, gripped by the devil and in essence nothing more than a creature that belongs in the fires of hell." Sarah looked to Dust and shook her head," Isn't that a pretty poor way to represent Aya though? I mean... I don't know much of Aya, but she was certainly not a creature of hell working as a pawn of the devil's.." Now all she had to do was hope that she had gotten something right with what she had just said.
"Well here's where you first real history lesson begins." He pointed to that Black shield.. "That Shield looks like it's made from iron, but is actually Neutrilium carbon Fiber.. the same material our Core Cells are made from." He glanced to the closet with the glass doors to see both of their Core Cells hanging up all batman and robin style. He looked back to the flaming snake, "And there isn't just one snake.."
He looked to the hologrid and changed the thermal readout of the hologram with just a thought. The hologram changed from blue to red to green and then to white. Making the Black figured women look more grey, along her body was the tattoos of another snake winding up her body in the opposite direction of the flaming snake.. "It's a DNA strand.. two snaked swirling around each other to form the DNA readout of an Arch core. With such blueprints right under everyone noses,, anyone who could read the ciphers could create an army of brain washed Arch Cores."
He held a serious expression across his face now that he was going to dive deep into the secrets of the universes history. He looked to the women and sort of teared up. wiping a tear from his eyes he cleared his throat and continued.. "...your correct.. that's Eve... the machine. At least the original model.. or the prototype. Blackened with darkness and corrupted to create a new darker breed of the Imperial Cores... Cores that descended into Arch Cores. Talk about an odd twisted history of lies we live in today, huh?" He smirked and looked to Sarah.. "And now to put it even more clearly......" He took a deep breath that turned into a sigh. "The Priesthood are baring the Symbols of one of our sworn enemy's..." He stopped there to let her fill in the blank.
"The Nano Empire..." She swallowed. Her eyes turned to look at him, bringing a hand to wipe the tears he missed. A frown was on her lips as she sat there. Her head lowered and she sighed, only giving a feeble head shake showing more than anything that she understood what he had just said," Basically the Arch Cores are being influenced by the Nano Empire to do its dirty work. Why not get blood on their hands where they can make it look like a bunch of mercenaries or radicalests looking to start a coo within the empire. Once the fighting is done and the Empire's in ruin they can just come in and finish what they intend to do. The best way to do that is to just pretty much make sure that the Emperor and Empress are dead. With no one to look to the Empire would be lost for good." She scoffed," Sickening."
He gave a more serious grin to her that gave off a sense that there was more to this picture than what met the eye.. "Actually hunn.. To be more precise.. The Arch Cores are the Nano Empire. With The organic version of the machine... Eve as their mother." He sighed and sat down on the bed next to her, his arm coming around her and letting her head rest on his shoulder while his hand rubbed her shoulder in a comforting manner.
"If you want to be better prepared for the tough road ahead... we can start your lessons now while we still have time." He looked to her with that serious expression once more, he knew one way or another she would have to be armed with knowledge in order to survive this wake of evil that seemed to follow them where ever they went.
She turned her figure so that her legs would drape over his lap. Closing her eyes while he spoke and nodding. Her whisper came while she processed what she had just learned," Yeah, I like that idea. Teach me all you can Dust. Teach me all you can and as fast as you can." Her eyes turned up to his and she gave a weak smile," I'm ready." She turned her fingers over the coin in his bandage and swallowed. Not sure what else she could do. However, now that she knew what was going on she began to wonder if this was some kind of ordinary wound or not.
