First post here! (after you of course)

Ha!

I'm glad to see you got your own folder. :D

Thank you (belatedly)!

I'm just about ready to get this show on the road, and looking forward to having a place for my stuff (metaphorically speaking, of course). :)

I slightly modified the "Rules and Regulations" to deal with blending. Haven't experienced any of that yet, but I want to make sure that nobody spoils the mystery of Glenn before I'm ready for the big reveal.

Just wanted to say thanks for the congrats on getting my own folder. ^.^

I am loving what I have read so far of your story. ^.^

Thank you, Aria player, for the compliment. :)

And now for something completely different. Slightly adjusted the help wanted posting, to reflect the fact I'm looking for cashiers and magic users who specifically deal with druidic/nature-based magic. Especially for teaching Glenn. :)

So yeah, I am in the process of working on some big changes, both IC and in my real life. With any luck, I won't have to take too much time out of my RP schedule to fit those changes in, but there is the distinct possibility I may have to take some time off to take care of personal issues (hopefully no more than 2-3 days, but possibly a week). I'm also hoping to schedule this stuff around Thanksgiving, so as to minimize the impact on my RL and RP life, but no guarantees.

As for the revelation SL, I'm going to set it up so that I can play out important scenes in live RP and on the forums when I and other players have time for it. So I may be playing out scenes today that won't actually take place in IC for a few days. I ask that you be patient with me as I go through with this, and ask me if you have any confusion as to whether a scene is being played out in real time in character, or is going to be vapored to the future.

Questions or comments, let me know.

Journal~ ^o^

I love journal posts. :3 I'm glad you finally started a thread for it.

Just a quick FYI for everybody. There's a good chance that I'll be going on vacation from December 22 through December 26, and will be unable to access DM/RDI as normal. If I don't go on vacation, I will still most likely have limited access to the site for those days. I've got threads and stuff pertaining to gifts that Glenn'll be giving his friends around the winter solstice/Christmas that I'll try to get done before that, but if not, I'll try to get it done ASAP.

Let me know if there are any threads I'm participating in or that you'd like me to participate in, so I can plan my writing schedule for the next few days around getting that stuff done.

FYI: Just in case anyone missed it, I changed Glenn's SN. It is no longer "Glenn Blackbridge." It is "Glenn Woodwright." Same AIM name, same e-mail address, different contact info here on DM/RDI.

And in completely unrelated news, the trip I was going to take is off, so I'll probably be around a little more than I thought I was around the 22-26, though it won't be as much as usual.

Split the general "questions/comments/SL requests" part of this thread from the "praise portion," FYI. It can be found here.

Added an entry to the glossary about Glenn's barn, describing the exterior and interior of the property. I'm not sure if it's entirely 100% clear or not, so please let me know if you have any questions or have any suggestions as to how to write it better. :)

I change the Glossary entry on Glenn's barn to reflect the fact that he now has Japanese-style rooms for his living quarters. :)

I'm back(ish). Also made a slight change to the Rules and Regulations, regarding my usual post turn-around time. Honestly, it's going to vary from time to time, from SL to SL. I work as fast as I can, but I might not always be super-quick to reply, and I don't expect others to reply super-quick either. I'm pretty flexible. Really, if you have questions about the posting turn-around time? Ask me. I'm usually pretty easygoing.

Me and B played a scene so awesome, I had to make a .gif that included some spoilers. So be looking forward to it when we get it up, yeah!

Bad Poetry Time!

Mr.Woodwright, a dubious man.
Though meek and mild,
He drives the ladies wild.
I am definitely a fan,
Even if he doesn't have a tan.

...

XD Ta-da?

Stop! Limerick Time!

There once was a man from Blackbridge,
Who was regarded with much umbridge,
For others couldn't stand,
How a man so untanned,
Could bring in the girls with clevage!

Poetry? For Glenn? You shouldn't have... :)

Thank you both, though, very much.

It's been in the works and discussion for some time, but consider this the official announcement. I'm getting ready to move and get a new computer (and recycle the old, busted one). That, coupled with a general lack of enthusiasm for RP and writing lately, have led me to conclude that it is probably best that I take a break for some time, to recharge my batteries and creativity.

Because I'll be without a home computer for a couple of weeks, if you need to get a hold of me, PMs or e-mail are going to be your best bet. Feel free to contact me if necessary for vaporing out anything for any of my characters, or if you have any other questions.

Good news is, I am finely settled into my new digs, where I will be living for some time. The bad news is that Internet access is rather spotty here, and will be until we set up our Internet access here. I don't know if I'll be able to stay on for any length of time for Live RP while that's the case, and I don't know if I'll be able to get on to post SLs. And I'm not sure when this will be remedied. So I'll try to get on when I can, but I can't guarantee anything for a while.

Yes. Boo-urns! Boo-urns! XD

I need to stop reading our old writing... it makes me nostalgic and sad. ~.~

Especially when you compare those scenes with more recent ones, where Glenn's a big doo-doo head. :)

Carley

Date: 2010-02-01 20:43 EST
Doo-doo head or no, he didn't deserve the wrath of Psycho Cy! :O

Everett Ogden

Date: 2010-02-02 12:07 EST
Hey! Had so much fun letting Everett be nosy about another man's reading habits in the Inn the other night. I'd like very much for him to come calling to purchase a writing desk (and because he thought Glenn was a right good fellow), but would not deign to post here without your blessing. If it doesn't suit you, that's fine too.

Thanks!

I'd love to have Everett stop by and order a writing desk from Glenn! My writing pace is a tad glacial now, but if that's not a problem with you, I'm totally up for it. Feel free to ping me via PM or AIM if you have any setting questions or questions in general.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with!

The concept of Rue des Farfadets, and the "door within a door" at Glenn's shop mentioned in the introductory post of that thread, is inspired by something similar that many businesses in my current stomping grounds do: fairy doors. Apparently, a bunch of business and home owners (and the local library!) put these on various parts of their exteriors and interiors, with various embellishments. One at a concert venue imitated a box office (complete with tickets on occasion), while the library made theirs into a "home" out of mock books on a book shelf that periodically light up.

You can find more information on these "fairy doors" here.

Astute observers and fans of old school SNES games might recognize some of the location and characterization in the latest scene posted in "Rue Des Farfadets." It's my homage to one of my favorite RPGs that I played when I was younger, although some liberties have been taken for the sake of storytelling. I make no claim of copyright over the original ideas that inspired me, obviously.

So, what'd I miss?

The chunk of French in my latest post in "Rue Des Farfadets" comes from what purports to be a French lullaby. I have not actually heard the song, so I can neither confirm nor deny this, but I thought the lyrics at that point were fitting to my story, so I put it in there. The lyrics, in English and French, can be found at this link.

Life's gotten a bit hectic, personally and professionally, so it's probably going to take me even longer than my usual glacial posting pace to get the next bit of Glenn's story up here.

Imrathion Tathar

Going to try to make this as short and (bitter)sweet as possible. After almost five years off-and-on (extremely off-and-on at some points), I feel like I have come to the end of the stories that I want to tell with this character. As you might have noticed, the storyline I'd been working on for some time stalled out some months ago, and I have been writing journal entries for Glenn periodically to fill the activity requirement for the folder. After some thought, and discussion with others, I've realized that I just don't have the drive to write that story anymore, and am unlikely to ever recover that drive.

For anyone who ever played off of Glenn, my thanks. For anyone who ever worked on a storyline with Glenn, double-plus thanks. And triple-plus-thanks for the player of Carley and Lydia Loran, who played a huge role in shaping Glenn and making him as fun as he was to play.

I don't believe in absolutes, so there's always a chance that I may pick Glenn up again in some, way, shape, or form, and I will have him sticking around the city as something of an NPC. And I still have other characters kicking around, so I'm not going anywhere. The muse goes where it wants to go, and all I can do is follow.

Thanks,

B.
