O is for Order of Orion. The Order is a subset of an overarcing group known as the Diavule Eterna. All of these covens seek to fulfill a prophecy foretold by the prophet Elisheva; "As soon as the sun turns dark, a chosen child?s death shall bring forth the rise of the forgotten and a new dawn of faith. It shall be then, when the dead walk once more, the Order shall bring forth a rise of a new god and a blessed age."
To the farther northern reaches of Nosgoth?s Dark Eden region, the Eternal Rain were the monsters of legend, often used as story fodder for misbehaving children and campfire tales alike. There was no proof that they were real save for the stories of olde so nobody thought that they could possibly have a hand in the uprisings that spread throughout the realm nor the unrest that followed, the clans turning upon one another despite having lived in peace for hundreds of years. The war began, brother against brother, friend against friend, until all of Nosgoth went up in flames. So intense was the conflict that it was easy to miss the young women disappearing one by one. All between the ages of 16 and 18, there seemed neither rhyme nor reason to their disappearances save for the queer fact that their names all began with ?A?.
Elisheva told of the coming of a child chosen to bring the rise of the new age. They called it the Age of Ava. Elisheva?s followers believed this meant the child?s name was Ava and as such, they began identifying any child born between the winter solstice of the Elishevan Year 1000 (Earth 2013) and the winter solstice of the Elishevan Year 1002 (Earth 2015) with the name of Ava. It took them nearly ten years from that point to locate them all but once they had, they did everything they could to get ahold of them, including kidnapping them or killing their family members. Along the way, the search was broadened to the possibility of rather than Ava, it was meant to be AVA. Initials rather than a name. While it widened the search, it ultimately narrowed the pool to fourteen girls.
At the peak of the Purge, all fourteen were taken by the Orion Order and held until they could determine just which young woman was their Chosen. One by one they were tested and each one was broken. Their ruined bodies were buried in unmarked graves to cover up the atrocious travesties of that which had been inflicted upon them. With one remaining, they were certain she was the one they were looking for but before they could complete the rituals required, she was rescued. From there, she disappeared completely from the realm and as such, the Diavule Eterna has been searching for her ever since.
