Flash and Dash, Aerial acrobatics at their best.

We promised you a write up of the pre-season events and here it is. It lacks the Who's Who of our regular pages but really it should be all about the Pegasi here now shouldn't it?

The first running of the Mystic Mountain realay was a sight to be seen. Starting out just after sunrise when the light was still low the peagsi and their riders lined up at the starting posts. For the relay teams were given numbers coresponding with their opening pole positions. When the opening bell rang, the races took off for the short ground sprint before takeoff before winging their way in a feathered rainbow towards the first leg of the relay.

The battlements of Caserborn Castle were lined with specially outfitted archers, who began firing the moment the racers were in range. Taking an early lead in the first leg was Vulpine Velocity of Lyndria Stables, a time difference the of a few seconds that the others never quite made up. Perhaps the speed was why they did not fair so well in the agility part of the course, taking five hits from Caserborn's Archers.

Other standout performances of the first leg were a trio of sky dancers, Lion's Roar of Lion's Pride, Morning Glory of Winged Victory, and Xhargosian Nights of Rising Star, All three managed to dance through the rain of "arrows" to score a perfect finish coming in fifth, second, and fourth in the leg respectively.

At the hand off checkpoint, things went awry for Lyndria, as the riders fumbled the package causing their rider to fall back in the ranks from first to third, leaving room for Tropicana Sand's "Jumper" Chemin De Fer to spotlight a unique set of skills, taking the land air portion of the course faster than any other rider, but again speed was trade off for caution. The only flyer to come out with a clear round in leg two was Fire Fox of Lyndria Stables. It seems even a fumbled hand off can't keep jockey Laffit Capin down for long.

Near the end of the leg, stragglers from the first leg Pumpkin Feilds began to catch up, moving from seventh place up to second at the end of the leg. The checkpoint for the third leg saw a flawless hand off and a strong lead taken which secured them the win.

But the real come back kid of the race was Windsong Stables, ending the first leg dead last, moving to fifth place in the second leg, and ending the race with a strong second place finish. While they didn't have the strongest acrobatics, their flyers all came out well when the final tally of hits was taken.

Third Place was taken by Winged Victory, a strong first leg and a good hand off were not quite enough to keep Yellow-bellied Sap Sucker from shying at the two "arrow" hits taken during the flight, causing them to finish the leg in last position. But C.O.D lived up to its name giving us a speedy delivery and the third place finish.

And also deserving a mention here, RUDE Attitude may not have had a standout performance in this first realy, but Oh Great Drunken Leader finished the final leg with the only perfect round of the final and most challengeing acrobatic leg.
