Fantastic Flights, Gearing up for the Racing Season.

Today the field was all aflutter with displays of aerial prowess. Warm ups for the upcoming racing season started just after sunrise with a display of acrobatics from one of Tropicana Sand's darlings, Monte Carlo Mambo. This little dish dazzles both on land and in the air.

A practice sprint had Bellezza beating out Stardust Starlet and Dulcinea by nearly a length. Its going to be an amazing season watching these three beauties battle things out on the track.

The specialty tracks are looking gorgeous under the expert care of the Tropicana's house mage Hector. The tracks are magically maintained courses that exist just outside of normal place and are products of Hectors imagination. I once complimented Hector on his work and his response was " Magical creatures need magical tracks that only a dream could match. I just make it real for them."

All in all we here at the Twist are looking forward to the start of the racing season. We will see you Ladies and Gents there!

New faces, Summertime Races.

Today the breeze over Tropicana Sands was brisk and fair, perfect weather for flying. With registration of for the RPRA open and the start of the racing season approaching paperwork was flying as well.

Several old favorites of the pegasi racing set renewed their memberships these last few days, among them Rising Star, Winged Victory and Lion's Pride. The lady owners of these stables are some of the sharpest in the game, but will be joined this season by a few newcomers the brash upstarts of RUDE Attitude, And the charming fairytale crew run by Elly and Ichibod.

And speaking of Ladies of the track, the spectator set is looking absolutely fabulous and we have not even started the season yet. Everything from hats to shoes as neat as a button and as colorful as a peacock.

And on that note, Winged Victory stable owner Amthyst Oak was looking stunning in a hat by up and coming designer Ginger Snaps, a concoction of stiffened white lace dolled up with peacock feathers and satin ribbons. It was a perfect compliment to her delicate sundress and parasol all trimmed in matching white lace and emerald satin. She was spotted with Lion's Pride owner Kinadria Falconne also looking stunning in a somewhat more subdued pantsuit of some sort of gold and ivory patterned silk. The two were in Ms Amthy's private box having breakfast while they watched the practice runs of some of their stables finest.

Also spotted were Salvatore Martingale and the ever lovely Porcia, dining in the Bellerophon, complete with candlelight and champagne. Porcia wove her spell over our Mister Martingale in a to die for long black strapless number, fitted to the waist then flaring slightly at the knee to end in a ruffle above high heeled silver sandals.

We look forward to seeing what the season brings if this is just the warm up. Its this reporters fondest hopes that over the next few days she will be able to speak to each of the stable owners to learn their plans for the season.

The Dynamite Darling and the Dare.

I spent a delightful afternoon with Elly owner of Pumpkin Fields, one of the newest stables of the RPRA. Elly is a delightful little spitfire who runs a charming little Atelier just outside of town. Just don't wear your good shoes to go visit.

Elly seems quite excited about the racing season saying this of her horse Peggy, "When I heard about the races that were starting up, I just had to get her involved, and when I saw I could get more, I just had to~! They weren't as pretty as Peggy, but they were close~! I feel like I should involve myself more in what goes on since I'm a celebrity~"

The sweetheart then went on to tell me about her plans to go to war with a snake woman named Lacerta. Apparently Miss Lacerta, a snake woman with unfashionable blue hair is jealous of dear Miss Elly.

Miss Elly would like to offer Miss Lacerta an alternative to war, a challenge. Elly challenges Miss Lacerta to open a stable and meet her on the racecourse. There we will see who really is the better woman.

I'm just thrilled with the way this is shaping up to be a fascinating race season. We will see you all at the track, and hopefully I will have more tidbits from our stable owners tomorrow.

A little bit of Attitude

Deadlines are hard to meet when fascinating things happen darlings! I went to visit Isabel Bobivich stable master of RUDE Attitude only to get invited to a party. The delightful but invisible Mrs. Bobivich took me sailing on the yacht owned by the Re-assumed Utensils of Destruction Enterprises, where she wined and dined me to the accompaniment of stories on how each of RUDE Attitudes pegasi earned their names.

It seems that the darling of the stables is "Oh Great Drunken Leader" In tribute to a Mr. Corlanthis W, who one night, signed a contract and climbed into a box while completely smashed and woke up the next morning the Great Leader of RUDE.

"Kick Ass Spork" and "Rabid Weasel Launcher" are named after RUDE's two main sources income, The production and distribution of plastic cutlery and the research and development of less than conventional weaponry.

There was no tale behind the name of the final horse, a pretty little jewel called "Fishmonger's Wife". I'm sure we will die of curiosity before the season is over wanting to know that tale.

Stacking the Odds

Rumor has it that Tropicana Sands Bookie Vinchenzio "Vinnie" Martinelli was seen about town passing out racing forms and trying to raise interest in the upcoming pre-season races. If anyone can bring the ladies in its Vinnie. He has a sweet boy next door charm that the girls seem to love.

The pre-season races went up yesterday, and the betting offices opened up. Some of the local gambling addicts were spotted getting their bets in early. Out on the track we saw a new last minute arrival, Lyndria Stables. Run by a pretty little vixen named Charna.

Its turning out to be harder than anticipated to get tidbits from the stable owners, but I did manage to snatch a few minutes with Lion's Pride owner Kinadria Falconne this morning. I have yet to see this woman looking less than classy. She told me a bit about her husband and children. Apparently her children love spending time at the stables. The two Freelance owners registered to race are Mrs Falconne's oldest son Tobias and his new wife Whisper. Apparently the Pegasi were given as wedding gifts. So sweet.

Look forward to seeing who turns out at the races tomorrow! We can only hope our fellow reporter Mr. Franco turns out too to give this event the "Who's Who" coverage it really deserves.

Swept Away, The pre-season opener

Ladies and Gents, the first day of races was a sight to behold. From the Opening day Brunch provided by The Fly by Night Grill, for the owners and their families and friends to the conclusion of the first ever Mystic Mountain Relay.

Spotted at the festivities was Tropicana Sands manager Sal Martingale, without the ever lovely Porcia on his arm. Could the two be having a spat? Also at the brunch, Lion's Pride's Kinadria Falconne looking lovely and maternal with her husband and children. The littlest one was even decked out to look like Tropicana Sands Bookie Vinnie Martinelli. Just too cute for words!

In the boxes at the races themselves we believe we caught a glimpse of ever elusive Great Leader of RUDE Corlanthis W. He seemed to be there to check out his namesake "Oh Great Drunken Leader" accompanied Isabel the invisible stable master of RUDE Attitude, wearing the most fabulous hat I have ever seen, and an unidentified brunette. We hope to see more of them at the races as the season goes on.

And always one of our favorite darlings of the track, Miss Amthy was there to cheer on Yellow-bellied Sap Sucker to a third place finish. She just looks so darling jumping up and down and cheering like she does.

Next weeks races are posted, remember these are the first Official season races, for purses and places in the standings so stable owners be sure and get your entries in soon! And for those of you who don't have a stable, its not too late. New stables can be registered at any time during the season, but the sooner you register, the sooner you can start bringing home those purses.

The Posts and the Post.

The deadline for race entries was pushed back this week because of reported overhauls in the Rhydin Postal Service. Management at the track wanted to make sure that all of the stable owners had time to get their entries filed in light of the delays. This means Poor Vinnie will be either rushed off his feet at the betting office with last minute bets, or have such a slow weekend he can take an unexpected vacation.

Some new faces spotted around the tracks, Pretty little Uriko Belarus owner of the new Sweet Innocence stable. For all her pretty sweetness we expect this little spitfire to be fierce competition this racing season. Its like watching popcorn on a skillet, you never know when its going to pop.

We noticed something today when we were at the news stand. Our fellow writer Marc Franco mentioned some of our darlings in his little scandal sheet. Marc, lovely come spend an afternoon with me at the races so I can introduce you to the who's who of our feathers and fur set. We can share a glass of wine and swap stories in age old reporter fashion.

Look for our special race writeup of last weekends Event, sometime in the next couple of days. I hope to see more of you at the races this coming weekend.

Fantastical Flights of Fancy

Race day has come and gone again my dears, with some amazing flights by unexpected racers. After their lackluster performance in the pre-season, RUDE Attitude gave a standout performance securing three of the available purses. Eddie from the RUDE shipping department brought Fishmonger's Wife in "in the money" Not once but twice. A first place finish in the Sandstorm Stakes was followed up with a close second in the handicap.

Another standout in the sky this week, newcomers Sweet Innocence. Their darling of the day? Connar Lavenderheart, securing a first and a third place finish. Not bad at all for the adorable Miss Belarus who was spotted in the owners boxes watching the races with an armful of cotton candy.

Now you might have noticed something Hush Hush going on near the entrance to the arena. We have tried and tried to get our sources to tell us what it is, But they make clams look loose and easy at times like this. All we got was a pat on the head and a "You'll see at the Jamboree Doll"

I am dying to know what it is. I promise you that any news I get between now and the grand unveiling I'll share post haste. Until then, Don't forget pole positions post for the races tomorrow, and Vinnie would love to take your bets.

Practice makes perfect

Things are gearing up for the mid month event at Tropicana Sands, with the house running practice sprints for the beauties in the claims races. RUDE's Great leader Cor W. was out and about looking over the offerings and whispering his picks in the ear of the charming Mrs Isabel Bobivich, who despite being invisible always looks fabulous when she shows up at the track.

My personal favorite in the claims (a darling little number called Killing me Softly) seems to be shared by Miss Belarus, who spent part of the morning watching the warm ups.

Also seen at the track was Lion's Pride's Kinadria Falconne, and the lovely Charna Lyndria of Fox Trotter stables. The two were seen in the Fly by Night grill, chatting about weddings and children. Mrs Falconne's daughter Katyana is one of Miss Lyndria's jockeys. The two stable owners are very close, even sharing a stable master and buildings. Their stable master is a total character, a sweet ancient china man by the name of Ou Chi. He tells the most delightful stories about the pegasi.

Work continues in the massive tent outside the entrance to the Arena. Still no word on what it might be, but this morning just before dawn a half dozen massive crates were delivered.

Rumor has it that Mister Martingale is slipping of for a romantic tour with Miss Porcia, his long time love affair. We wish them a happy vacation, and wish Vinnie luck keeping things in line while Sal's away. According to Vinnie, "Things just go on like us'al Doll. Sal knows I'm good for it."

Good luck to everyone at tomorrows races! I can't wait to see what Miss Elly is wearing.

A bit of Naughty and a bit of Nice

There were some interesting goings on at this weekends races. More so in the boxes and the stables than the sky it seems. Ever classy Mrs Falconne was spotted in her box with Mr Falconne, and not a look were they giving the sky. They had eyes only for each other. It's so cute to see a couple so in love. Its rumored around the stables that the pair are coming up on the two year mark in their relationship. I hope the celebrate here at Tropicana Sands, they serve a lovely "couples" Champagne supper at the Bellerophon.

Security was stepped up a bit after someone spotted a figure in brown and green taking measurements of C.O.D's stall. He was seen toting a large bag of tools, and carrying a sheet of aluminum siding, but was not a member of the grounds crew. He left the grounds in a truck marked RPS. Because no damage was done, no police report was filed, but security is on the lookout.

We are barely more than a week away from the unveiling of the project by the front gates, and still no clues as to what it is. Hector the hedge wizard simply said "Its Magical! Simply Magical!"

Don't forget to get your claims in for next weeks event races, and your entries in for this weeks races. Until then darlings Happy Flights!

Delays and Debuts

Darlings we sincerely beg your forgiveness for our unpardonably late publication this week. When I was rushing our copy for the special event coverage to the printers I was run down by some lout smelling terribly of fish claiming an emergency in Dockside that he just HAD to get printed.

Anyway after the better part of the week having our fractured wrist tended to by our favorite dandy Vinnie Martinelli I've finally gotten around to re-writing the ruined copy.

Our past few editions we have been leading up to the big unveiling happening during the June Jamboree, and let me tell you darlings it was fabulous. The stable owners were invited to a luncheon provided by the master chef at the Bellerophon, where Sal Martingale unveiled Tropicana Sands new crowning glory, a lovely work titled Flirtation with a Zephyr. A fountain standing twice a man's height with beautifully carved pegasi dancing in the spray.
http://msdedi.typepad.com/reflex_photos/images/img_1807_copy.jpg

And the best part? At noon each day, thanks to Hector the hedge mage, The dancing sculpted pegasi take flight for a ten minute aerial display. It has a grace and magesty only matched by watching the real thing on the tracks.

Speaking of the tracks, This week has been a busy one with both the weekly races, and the Events of the June Jamboree. The first event of the day was the Claims Races. Owners waited anxiously in the boxes to see which of these darlings they would get to take home with them. The week saw several stables growing in size by at least one or two beauties.

Next up were the races themselves, The standout moment of the week, Katyana Falconne, the RPRA's youngest registered jockey took her very first Win, on Speedy Tod in the Dandelion Down Handicap, for Fox Trotter Stables. Another impressive performance, two solid third place finishes by The Nimble Thimble, owned by Piper Tippet. Miss Tippet is justifiably proud of her horse, as Nimble has placed in at least one race every week she has been entered. The Nimble Thimble is fast becoming one to watch.

The hardest race of the Event day was the Wild Waves Torch, expect a more detailed writeup of the race in our Special Event Edition. For now a quick recap, After making slow but steady progress up through all four checkpoints, Oh Great Drunken Leader of RUDE Attitude, snuck in at the last second to edge out Pumpkin Fields Orange Rum for the win.

I know there is more to report but I am still recovering Darlings! Perhaps later in the day or early tomorrow I'll cover the weekend races for you!

Weak Kneed Weekends

Who would have thought that Janitors make good Jockeys? RUDE Attitude's Eric the Janitor proved just that, bringing home a win in his very first race ever.We chatted a bit with Eric after the race and here is what he said

"Miss Isabel, she stopped me in the hall this morning and said 'Come with me Eric' Now no one ever says no to Miss Isabel. She brought me out here, pointed to Sky, and said 'Ride her would you?' So I did. And by golly, I won. I thought for sure I was gonna fall off and die."

It seems that the recent additions to the stables from the claims races were all trying to prove their worth to their new owners this week, with claims ponies form RUDE Attitude, Lions Pride and Fox Trotter Stables all taking home purses.

Back in the owners boxes, Pretty little Miss Uriko Belarus was spotted with a dapper looking French man whom our sources have identified as a Mr Paulo Petrrie. Mr Petrrie has been seen around the tracks often of late, and was recently spotted leaving the offices of Sal Martingale looking particularly pleased with himself. We wonder what hes up to.

Our wrist is almost healed but we still have this nasty backlog of work, which is why Vinnie Martinelli offered to write up our Special Edition race replay for the Wild Waves Torch. So look for that soon.

Remiss, have we been missed?

Darlings I am so sorry about the delay. Things went from bad to worse with my wrist injury, and I ended up having minor corrective surgery. So I'll just have to catch you up on two weeks worth of races at once!

The stables had a gem of a week for the last races of the month, starting with the Innocent Ivory Invitational. Pegasi who had never placed in the races were invited to compete in a special maiden race for a token purse. Taking home top honors were Emerald Isles of Windsong Stables and Butter Cream of Pumpkin Fields. We hear owner Elly is mustering troops for her war on the evil Lacerta. We wish her the best of luck on that.

Other standouts for the week, Windsong Stables owned by Raye Howard made its strongest showing yet, bringing home four purses. Two of those purses were brought home by Emerald Isle who until that pint had never placed in a race. Owner Raye Howard (one of the only owners to fly her own pegasi) And her twin sister Faye Windsong also took home purses.

And our little darling The Nimble Thimble, one of my personal favorites must have needed a week off, not placing for the first time since her registration by owner Piper Tippet. But Nimble did not stay down long coming back in the special For All The Points races with a third place finish and securing a first place finish in the Blackbird Pie stakes. This gives The Nimble Thimble 16 points in the official standings and the honor of being this seasons first Grade 1 pegasi.

Congratulations Piper and The Nimble Thimble.

Another milestone worth mentioning in the July 7th races Sweet Innocence took home the largest total purses of any stable to date with a grand total of 1700 silver crowns.

And because we have been remiss, I want to welcome new stable owner Brian Ravenlock of Ravenlock Stables, and Myllyana Sliver Freelance owner of Kirin Prince. We wish them and everyone luck at the races.

Fireworks and Flights of Fancy

Today was the day of the Firework Flights event at Tropicana Sands. The day started off with a bang, or more specifically the Big Bang BOOM claims race, Where exceptionally lucky Freelance owner Piper Tippet was seen, cheering on her favorite for the race Smut a lovely black and charcoal beast. Miss Tippet now has the option of buying lovely little Smut. Piper's day only got better as the day wore on, with The Nimble Thimble taking home two solid second place finishes. Nimble is the highest ranked pegasus in the RPRA.

The next highest ranked pegasi, our second Grade 1 pegasi of the season is Tobias Kaut's Catastrophy. Tobias and his wife Whisper were spotted snuggling in the stands before the races. Whisper's Blood on Snow pulled of a second place finish in the Campfire Lights Aerial.

We were saddened when the Firework Festival Flare Claims race was run, and no one bid for our dear friend Marc Franco's namesake, the sweet little shocking pink filly Gossip. We here at the Twist intend to try to sweet talk Mister Martingale into gifting little Gossip to Marc.

The girls and boys of RUDE Attitude made out like bandits at the claims races this week, taking home three of the four pegasi they bid for making them the Largest stable with nine pegasi. I wonder who Isabel will pull from the halls to ride them this time?

We spotted a curious pair in the stands, a tiny fragile seeming brunette, and a redhead of Amazonian height. Upon some inquiry we found that the pair are the new owners of Wonderland, Hannah Schellden, and Sevarenia Firawen. The two took home the Auction stock pegasi this month and one from the claims races. We hope to see much more of this pair around the track as they were a delight to watch.

I am looking forward to the coming weekends races, we are starting to see some fierce competition out there on the tracks! Until then Darlings, take care.

Flying Free as a Bird

Last week was the week for freelance Pegasi. The Nimble Thimble continued her dominance at the arena coming in in the money for both her entered races. Our Pretty little Piper Tippet has got to be the luckiest woman alive, because not only Nimble brought home the bacon but newcomer Smut did as well. Boarding her darlings at Lions Pride does not seem to have done anything but improve the performance of the pair.

Another Freelance Highlight, Shadow's Smile Owned by Lucius DeAuster also more than made up the money, placing in both her races. Welcome to the RPRA Mr. DeAuster, and may I say what a Bravo start you have made. I hope we can count on many repeat performances.

Now last time we reported on a pretty little filly by the name of Gossip, whom we were trying to convince Salvatore Martingale to give to our Dear Marc Franco. Well Sal made good. Gossip has a new home with Mr. Franco, and we look forward to seeing the shocking pink blur who like her namesake moves like the wind in future races.

On a less entertaining note, be sure and check the Memos From Mister Martingale and Vinnie the Bookie on a regular basis for important information pertaining to the races.

We look forward to seeing many of your faces at the upcoming races, and don't forget the general stock sale opens today. You can purchase up to 4 pegasi a month through the auctions, stock sales, and claims.

Another fine day at the races.

With just a touch of fall in the air the crowds in the stands at Tropicana Sands were a touch on the somber side. Lion's Pride owner Kinadria Lyness was out with a positive gaggle of children celebrating the first birthday of her youngest. Among the guests were Jaws, Paws and Claws Owners Sebastian and Cailet De Vernon and their children, Freelance owners Reiyen Starstriker, Tobias and Whisper Kaut, and Victor Walsh.

It was a good day for the De Vernons, with Silence taking first place in both his races, and the pair spreading the word that the impending new addition to the family was yet another boy.

We spotted the ever lovely Amthyst Oak flirting with the stable lads before the races, looking charming in a crisp autumn toned frock. She never fails to look dazzling.

Preparations are going well for the Autumn Splendor Event. The claims race stock can be seen on display at the Tropicana Sands barn up until the claims deadline. There are some real beauties up this month, including Hot of the Presses, whom I just might claim myself.

The Autumn Sunset Gala has been postponed so as not to conflict with the Harvest Fest, and is now scheduled for October 18th. Expect your invitations this week, as well as an open invitation printed in our own little paper.

Until then Darlings, I wish you safe flights.
