Tropicana Sands is based on a pegasi racing sim that several of us participated in several years ago, in all its many incarnations. We wanted to bring the fun and excitement of the races to the players here. The pegasi races were run on a regular basis and players had the opportunity to register stables and participate in the races. Dragonsmark offers us a unique venue to offer this in thanks to features like the earning of silver crowns and the auction feature.

This folder is aimed at being the place for the races. Where the race forms will be posted, and the race results published as well as a place for stories revolving around the sport.

Weekly races will be run beginning the first week of june , and registration for stables and freelance Pegasi is open now. You can find more information at Tropicana Sands Or post questions here or to Vinnie the Bookie or Mister Martingale.

The message forum here for Tropicana sands is open for anyone who wants to participate in the world of pegasi Racing. This could be anything from stopping by the place a bet with Vinnie, coming in to watch a practice or a race, or even having a meal at the Fly by Night Grill or the Bellerophon.

It could be something evil sneaky and nefarious. Want to fix a race? Sabotage a rival stable? Sal and Vinnie not being the upstanding law abiding citizens that they could be might just be the guys to help you. We can both be reached by private message to discuss the details of any scheme you might want to run by us.

Please run anything that may effect the setting in a less than positive way by Vinnie the Bookie or Mister Martingale BEFORE you post it. Its very impolite to assume that just because we have opened up our setting to you, you have free reign over what happens there. It is still OUR setting and while we encourage participation, we want this to stay a fun positive experience for all involved.

That being said we encourage you to post and play, even if you never register a pegasi or place a single bet ( but wouldn't it feel great to do these things with the silver crowns you earned for posting here?) . Come enjoy the atmosphere.

Update-y Kind of Thing
I will be going out of town from June 13th to July 7th. I will be out-of-state, so my internet access will be sketchy at best. No web pages will be updated in that time (well, this might change, not sure), nor will new stables be added to the website. I will, if need be, make text versions of the stables for reference here on the bulletin board with updated scores etc and so forth until I get home~

We are still going to run races while Martingale is out of town. We just won't have updates on the standings and the pegasi from the stock sale and claims races added to the web page. Instead of littering the boards with the stable information I'll make sure that each stable gets their updated information after each race.

During Martingales outing, race entries claims and stock purchases can be sent to Vinnie the Bookie Or can still be sent to Mister Martingale.

Sorry for the long absense and no post x.x

My trip has been unexpectedly extended. My mother is ill and I am staying in CA until we have a better grip on what's happening. I kept meaning to post this (like a week ago x.x) but it kept slipping my mind. I am indefinitely without my computer so...ha. Trying to figure something out. At this point, I have no idea when things will be back to normal for me. I can't apologize enough for this.

Automatic Race Entries

Alright, after doing a test run of the automatic entries we are making some changes. This is mostly because I have been spending upwards of two hours a week just organizing the race entries. The purses for the races have to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is the fees.

Automatic Entry into the weekly races, and monthly event races is 700 crowns per month for registered stables regardless of the number of pegasi owned, and 350 crowns a month for Freelance owners. No entries will be made for participating stables/owners until the fee is paid. Fees are due on the 1st of each month, and will be accepted untill the 10th of the month. Any requests made after the 10th of the month will be held for the next month's races.

Stable owners will need to provide with the first months payment a list of which jockey is assigned to which pegasus in the following format (this will make my job much easier by giving me a cut and paste list with your chosen jockeys) Freelance owners will be assigned a jockey each month from the Tropicana Sands jockey pool.

Pegasi Name- Jockey- Stable

Any Stable/Owner can participate in the Automatic entry program by sending VIA the donate feature the above information to Mister Martingale. Those already participating will need to resubmit their information with their payment. Monthly payments thereafter simply need the name of the stable/freelance Pegasi/owner in the text of the donation.

Remember there are not Automatic Entries for the August 4th races, but if you sign up for the program when you do your race entries for the week, you can include that

I know this may sound like a lot, but things have been getting busy for me around here, and I need the shortcut if we are going to keep up the races untill N returns. (N, come back soon! I miss you!)

Oh, and just to note, we have officially hit our third month of races. the end of August marks the end of the Summer season of racing with September 1st being the start of the Fall Season. Lets keep things going strong.

Ok, this month is starting to look like crazy everything is going mad month for me. With school registrations and other child related issues to work out this month and N still being away, I'm not going to be running weekly races. We will still have the Summers End Shuffle events mid month, and a special Fall Season Invitational the last weekend of august.

This gives everyone time to decide what they want to do with their stable entries. When things settle down we will look at the racing and decide on a better, less demanding, racing schedule.

And suddenly, it was November and we looked at the calender and wondered where all that time went.

After much conversing and shifting of schedules, N and I have things worked out between the two of us to get things kicked off again. N's working on getting the web page updated, no hurry on it. It's going to take a few days and the new stables won't have their fancy graphics yet. Meantime we still have the stable listings here which are kept current.

November auctions went up today, A freelance registration for an interested new owner, and a stock auction for existing stables. We should have races listed by day's end.

The races are shifting to a twice monthly schedule, giving owners almost two weeks to get their entries in. The second race of the month will be the "Event" races with the higher purses, claims races, and Special Track races like the Mystic Mountain Relay.

Tentative Schedule for November and December:

Oct 31st: Race listings posted for Nov 17th races
Nov 13th: Race entries due for Nov 17th races, betting opens.
Nov 15th: Claims Race listings post for Nov 30th Event Races.
Nov 17th: Races, betting closes 5pm EST.
Nov 18th:Race Results Post, purses are paid and points updated in the stable listings. Event Race listings post for Nov 30th Event races
Nov 27th:Entries due for Nov 30th Event Races, All claims for Nov 30th races must be placed. Betting opens for Event races.
Nov 30th: Races, Betting closes at 5pm EST.

Dec 1st: Event Race and claims race results posted. Race Listings for Dec 15th races posted.
Dec 10th: All Claims from Nov Event races must be paid or returned to stock.
Dec 11th: Race entries due for Dec 15th races, Betting opens.
Dec 15th: Races, betting closes 5pm EST. Claims race listings posted for Dec 31st Event Races.
Dec 16th: Race Results posted, Race Listings posted for Dec 31st Event Races
Dec 28th:Race Entries due for Dec 31st Event Races, All Claims must be posted, Betting opens.
Dec 31st: Races, betting closes 5pm EST.

With the holidays in there these dates are somewhat flexible, but we will try and post any changes.

We have enough stables with Grade 1+ pegasi to start running a "High Stakes" race for higher grade pegasi. Pots for the high stakes race are as follows:

Win: 1000 crowns
Place: 750 crowns
Show: 500 crowns

Grade 1+ pegasi can still be entered in the regular races as well.

I'm sure there are things I've missed or covered in an earlier post that I should be reminding people about.

The web page(s) has(have) been updated~ well, for the most part. There is still some work to be done before it will be completely up to date. Most of the stables have been updated, and the Freelance owners added.

General Update-y thing

Woo~ I am getting all caught up. Did more work on the web site. All new stables just have generic place holders for the time being >.> until I can get a chance to do better. Given my current situation, if any owner wishes to make their own 'banner' they may (I will host the image, so don't worry about that) the dimensions are 400x200 and the background is black (000000)

There are only TWO stables that still require updating as of this evening (this would have been earlier, but I went on an unscheduled 3 day trip to So. CA) and those are as follows:

Blargh. This is the first day I've had stable internet since I last posted on the 10th. I am veryveryvery sorry about the delay in the races. We had a terrible winter storm that weekend and it knocked out the lines. They've been in repair since. Hopefully, my connection will be consistent enough that I will be able to run the races tonight after work. If it is, I will be running the 23rd's race as well since I'm scared that my internet is going to go back down again x.x;;

Anyway, so I finally got last weekends race run. I am hesitant to run the 23rds race since like zomg there is still a day or two to enter. So, naturally, I am gonna wait. Update and Assorted Business:

Ha. As you can all see the Feb 29th races are late. My sister has been in the hospital, and that (coupled with me being out of town), has delayed the races until today. Since my sister underwent major surgery (well, several surgeries) the March races will be reduced to probably 2-3 races. I just do not forsee having the time this month. With that in mind for the month of March only, auto races for registered stables will be 350 and freelance will be 100. Those that already paid will have a portion of their fees refunded. I will also be extending the day dues are well due for the month of march until the 13th since I haven't been on line at all really the last 10 days to do much follow up.

Update Thing

Since I know I will be *extremely* busy this month, I am trying to get things as organized as possible so that (hopefully) there will not be any lapses in the races.

I have listed the race names for the next round of races. I have also filled in some (not all) of the positions based on stables that have opted for automatic entry.

This does NOT mean that entries are closed. Any freelance/stable that wishes to participate may do so until March 14th. Any freelance/stable that wishes to enroll in auto entry for this month may do so until March 13th.

As I get more entries, I will add them to the lists. Each race can hold up to 20 pegasi. Two races have 5 positions open, and two have 4 positions open at this time. If I get more entries than positions, I will open another race list and fill it accordingly.

Ha. I did warn I would be busy~ And I was XD Which resulted in the races being flown late (this morning instead of yesterday). Purses will be sent out shortly, and the website will be updated today. I will TRY to get the monthly event info up this afternoon or tomorrow, but seeing as today is the 26th; it might be canceled. I knew it was ambitious to have three races :oops: my apologies in advance to everyone.

I'm not sure how to word this, so like omg sorry XD

After a moment or three of thought, it came to my attention that freelance owners, since they own so few mounts, could easily forget to register. With that in mind, starting July, owners can now prepay in chunks. The price isn't reduced any, just to make it easier on the memory so to speak.

there is month-to-month = 750 (registered)/350 (freelance)

so I propose 3 month chunks for those interested (2250 registered or 1050 for freelance). My only request is this: if you are prepaying for an extended period of time, please in the message box for the donation write down which months (e.g. stable/owner name and month x, y, and z) so I know exactly the time period. I can then do a follow up PM when that time is close to expiring and the owner can decide if they wish to re-enroll or not. These should also be sent to Mister Martingale :D

Um, I'm still not sure what's happening with last month's event :oops: I will try and see what's happening (you know how RL gets in the way sometimes! I personally hope S is doing okay). My conitnued apologies for the delay. We, however, are pressing forward :D And I hope to have the monthly event for June up before this weekend (busybusy time for me! I have a party this weekend and guests visiting the end of this month for a week, and not to mention a doc appoint on the 30th).

So, like, as I've said earlier somewhere, this week is hectic-ish with parties and guests and flights and unexpected trips to the doctor :/

The June Jamboree will probably be delayed a few days in light of this, I am sorry. I've been staying in a hotel since the 25th and won't be at home until the 1st, but I also have major (like most of the day) medicial appts on both the 30th and the 1st.

Some of you may know, and others of course don't, that I am moving this week~ Ha. So yeah, some races will be flown late :x Sorry. I don't really know yet how my just-moved schedule will work this month :oops:

To try and make this as seamless as possible, I have listed the monthly event races and claim today :D yay? Ahaha. Also, I may also list the entries for the 14ths race tomorrow before my flight.

Update-ish (almost?):

I have returned from my weekend farfar away from home <3 Thus far, everything seems to be going smoothly and the upcoming race should be held in a timely manner (yay!). While it is the 10th today, any one else who cares to enter may pay fees for auto entry until midnight pst. After that time entry will be race-to-race :D

OMG. So I have no reliable internet, and I did this as 'timely' as I could. I postponed the next race a few days in the hopes that it would give me some time to nail down some connection problems. I am so very sorry! I posted the winner's for the 14th's race, and listed the new races, but I will *not* be able to send out the purses or update the site until I get my internet squared away. Ah, the joys of moving ;x

Hi everyone <3 it's me, OtherN. Today was the first day I had access to internet. Sometimes, it feels like being on a deserted island. Or prison. I'm scratching the days into the side of some turkish cell just hoping for the impossible--reliable internet (or to see a grown man nekid ;D oh, wait, that's airplane)

I'm getting sooo off topic.

I listed the 22nds race today. I'm running it friday, the next day I will have interwebs. Hurrah. I have canceled the 3rd normal race that was supposed to take place for obvious reasons. I have also postponed the monthly event, and really, the first race of the new month doesn't happen until after the 10th anyway. The event will NOT have a claim race this month. Sorry :x I just didn't have the ability to put it together.

I will have the web site updated in early september as well as any outstanding racing business (such as handing out purses)

Dues will be reduced for the month of september as well to make up for the messy that was August.

Update-y:

Yay! I ran the races (when I said I would, too X3) but then I realized I did a stupid thing...

I made the deadline for the event on a day I know I won't have a computer! Silly me. So I changed it to the 31st, but the list won't be up until sept 1st (ha) and the actual event will be flown on the 3rd of September.

At that time, I will send out all outstanding purses for Aug 14th, Aug 22nd, and the event.

I will also *try* to update the webby.

Update!

As you can all tell, I was late...again ;x My apologies all around. DM/RDI does not like me very much right now :/ (though I understand I'm not the only one with that problem). My offline life has been hectic, too. But! I am trying to get everything all in a row.

That said, I did get some stuff done! Yay :D

The September races are going well, and the auctions are over. Registration and stock info has been sent to Lord Travanix. Congratulations to him and Lucky Duck. Page updates will come as they can and until then I'll be maintaining the listing of pegasi by grades.

Don't forget to take a look at the claims race pegasi, and the stock for the harvest festival raffle. Buy tickets and place your claims quickly!

Each registered Freelance and current stable owner who has been active in the summer season (June-August) months will get 2 raffle numbers on me, so check your PMs later tonight for those. You can purchase additional chances by sending 20 crowns per ticket along with the number of tickets you want, and I'll send you your numbers.

The crowns earned for the raffle go towards paying future race purses. Our average payouts per race week are around 2000 crowns, which means in months where we run weekly races we go in the hole significantly. This will give us a better cushion so we can keep running races.

Its going to be an off month for the races, as in there aren't going to be any. The replacement part for my computer didn't fix the problem and I won't be able to fix it until next month.
