A soft smile curled the faint lips of our favorite red head as her eye lids flutter open to greet a new day. A soft sigh escapes her lips and she stretches, cat like, her hand brushing her husband's ebony locks from the side of her face.

Turning her head, she looks at him, sleeping peacefully beside her. There was something magical in watching him sleep and she could lay there for hours, just watching. He was the most magnificent man she'd ever seen and even with his scars and piercings, he held a rugged magnetism for her that she simply could not deny.

But, she is a working girl and her job waited for her over at the Boarding House and she had a party to cater this afternoon. She didn't have the luxury of staying late in bed. So, with another soft sigh, she carefully slipped out of the bed.

She put his three times too large shirt on and wanders into the kitchen area. The fare in the cupboards and pantry were meager, to say the least. No wonder he ate at the inn all the time! She was able to scrounge up enough ingredients to prepare pancakes, but no syrup or butter. That didn't matter, she'd use the jam that was in the chill chest.

After breakfast was fixed, she goes to the bathroom and changes into the same outfit she'd worn the day before. She'd have to get her things from the boarding house soon. She couldn't wear the same outfit every day!

So outside she goes to survey the land, so to speak. There were wild daisies growing not too far from the front door and she plucks a single yellow one with it's single brown eye. She brings the flower to her nose and takes a soft sniff. Then it's back in the house.

She sits at the table and scratches out a quick note for Dakota. She takes the note, picks up a plate of pancakes and takes them and the daisy into the bedroom. She arranges them on the nightstand for him to find when he wakes up.

The note simply says, "Have a wonderful day. I love you! RES"

Dakota often slept late. He just didn't get enough hours during the night, so he usually caught up on his sleep after the sun had come up.

To say that his world had been thrown upside down in the last few days would be the understatement of the year, but it was in a good way, completely. Getting adjusted to living with someone is never an easy chore, but when it's with a brand new wife..the woman who you're going to spend the rest of your life with....well, there are definitely some adjustments that have to be made.

On this particular morning, he'd heard her stirring around as she woke up, but he couldn't force himself to crawl out of bed. The night before had been fun, but long after she went to sleep, Dakota got out of the bed and simply sat out there on the porch, smoking cigarette after cigarette. He thought about how much his life has improved, how he had this amazing woman lying in his bed, how she seemed to crave spending every moment with him. The very idea of that still blew his mind. He loved her more than life itself, but why him...? Why did she fall for him..? What was it about him..? He'd never understand how he got so lucky.

Well, that morning..whenever he finally did awaken, he saw the plate of pancakes and the daisy sitting there on the nightstand beside him. He sat up in the bed, rubbed his eyes for a few moments, and silently thanked God for bringing this woman into his life.

Yeah, it was gonna be another good day for ol' Kota..
