Well, there's only so long that a man can mooch off the kindness of others.

Ever since the split between him and Charlotte, Dakota had been living in room 302 at the Red Dragon Inn. When he was needing a place to stay, his friend Gav offered him a room and made it all too clear that he could stay as long as he needed. The offer was much appreciated, and it was most definitely taken advantage of. Dakota loved his time at the inn, and as much as he enjoyed the constant comings and goings throughout the night, he was ready to finally get a place of his own.

It had been bitterly cold all day long, but it was moving day nonetheless. Back and forth, back and forth....he was moving what stuff he had from his room at the inn to a small, one bedroom, third story apartment that he found in the West End. His faithful Rottweiler, Luke, had been following him every step of the way.

There wasn't much that was fancy about the place, but it was all he needed as a single guy. As you opened the front door, you were immediately in the den. Looking to your left, there would be a small kitchenette with an equally small dining room. Continuing straight from the door leads down the hallway, where the bathroom is on the left, and the bedroom is on the right. At the end of the short hall is a back door, which leads to his balcony porch.

Dakota pushed his bedroom door open, loaded down with the last armful of boxes, and he just dropped them. Yeah, something probably broke. Oh well, he was flat worn out, and he was hours past the point of trying to be careful with his stuff.

Sliding down the wall into a sitting position, he looked over this horrible mess in his bedroom, which looked like it would take months to organize. Luke came up to him and nuzzled his oversized head right into Dakota's face, obviously trying to make him feel guilty over the lack of attention that he'd been receiving today.

As exhausted as he was, all Dakota could really do was give his buddy a scratch behind the ear and apologize for not playing with him today.

"Sorry 'bout today, boy.....ain't exactly been a normal day, has it..? I'll make up for it tomorrow."

Running a hand through his hair, he sighed before slowly pulling himself back up to his feet. It didn't help that he was still sore from his drunken brawl with Alain the other night in the alley. Alain landed one good kick in particular that caught him right in his back, and he was still feeling the effects from that one.

He painfully made his way back down the hall and into his tiny kitchen. Opening up the fridge, he saw the one thing that made him smile more than anything else he'd seen all day. Inside, there was a single cold beer that he'd placed in there this morning when he first started moving his stuff.

"Been waitin' all day on you..."

He popped it open and took himself a long, long drink, before setting the bottle on the counter. As for tonight, he'd have to make himself a mattress out of pillows and blankets, as he hadn't had the chance to get himself a real mattress just yet.

Tomorrow, he'd worry about sorting stuff out.

Tonight, he was just happy to finally be on his own.
