Aria's story continues. Beyond the lands she once knew and all that was left there.

The wild plains were weaving over her as she lay motionless upon them. Her body bloody, her weapons lay with her bow on her back, sword at her side dagger clutched in her hand. The Wild Nisse had taken her again and spat her out over the falls and down in to the world unknown. She had washed up upon the sandy shores and had barely been able to drag her self in to the grasses. How long had she lied there, how much longer would she?

The sound of hove beats started to rouse her from her state. Emerald hues opened and she felt the pain that rushed though her body, her ankle was broken for sure, her arms were bloody and at least one rib was broken. "Kegan.," She breathed and winced. She felt that arrow that was through her arm now. Rolling over carefully she snapped the shaft in two and pulled the arrow head out with a little scream. She gazed at the arrow head, Tel Uuranor Assassins. She had nearly blacked out the whole fight, all she could see now was the Nisse washing her off and she could still hear Kegan's voice as he called to her. But she couldn't recall what had happened to him. "Kegan.." She started to rise and found that was not a good idea.

The beats of horses hooves came closer and she heard someone dismount and come towards her, eyes shifted back to see a man clad in armor coming towards her. Instinct told her to reach for a weapon so that she did. She found her self starring up at the armor clad man. His hair was short and brown his eyes the same shade. He looked human. Aria grumbled lightly, not too found of humans now after all she'd been through. "Stay away!"

The man was Drake, and he was a knight and he was not the type to do that. "Your hurt, let me help you," He seemed sincere enough, but Aria wasn't going to trust him too much. But then she didn't have much of a choice, she wouldnt be able to get far. Aria clutched that dagger close and allowed him to look at her wounds he used a cloth to wrap her arm wound. His touch was gentle but it was clear to Aria that he'd done this kind of thing before.

"There," he smiled, "but you'll need to get that ankle looked at, and need to stay off of it a while. " Aria looked around, " thank you.. guess I'll be camped out here for a while." Drake shook his head, " there's a village near by, I'll take you there, see that your taken care of." Aria still didn't trust him but since she had no where else to go she nodded and hobbled her way over with his help to his horse.

The ride was slow and Aria hung on, she had never ridden a horse before she had seen them wild but never seen them so tame. They reached the village and Aria noted how the people greeted him, with bows and soft nods. A man of valor it seemed.

"What do you do?" She asked him as he helped her along. "I am a knight." He replied and that got Aria's brows to rise, "a knight...?" Drake smirked softly, he had noted her Elven ears. "A warrior."

Aria nodded to that, and he led her in to a small but nice home. "Whos home is this?" "Mine, " said as he lowered her to a chair. " You may stay here while you heal and I shall look after you. My name is Drake." He held out his hand, "Aria,Mae govannen " She held out her own and he shook it softly. "A pleasure."

It took a week for her ankle to heal. Longer for the broken rip to be reset and healed. It was some great deed, through magic that Aria survived at all. The bandages that adored her side hid those marks, those long claw marks that Kyna had left, those marks that reminded Aria for a moment of what had happened. But all had been lost tot he waves of the wild Nisse. Drake took very good care of her, letting her stay in his home, becoming a friend to her a friend in this brave new world.

Her days were sometimes spent alone her finger gracing that ring she wore. She knew what it meant but all she could recall was the wild Nisse, its bitter cold, then the heat of the sun upon her skin to tell her she was still alive. She recalled her past Thoren,Kegan the love she shared with them both.

She recalled everything save for that one day that day by the wild winter Nisse the day with Kyna and all that had happened. In her dreams, they were filled with marking upon sands of white and gold, the shores of the Nisse and the wild Tel Mandu Taure. And Kegan's face, every time she gazed in tot he fire or out through a rain she saw his eyes his icy gaze.

Once she was well enough she set out on her own to explore the village. She was not alone, elves and humans, dark elves as well. Men and women and children, all together working as one. Drake had spoken of a place to the East called Rhydin. But he had not spoken highly of it or that much at all about it.

That same day she found a vendor in the market that was selling Elven jewel's she found herself a silver necklace, one she knew to be mirthral but the vendor did not know that. She bought it and hung that ring upon it, lacing it through to hang from her neck. If Kegan were alive her bonds were to him, but she had no way of knowing that. Until she found her way back to where Drake had found her she would not be able to find her way back towards home.

Alone she sat, while he was away, he was a man of great duty. A man of honor. The towns people spoke highly of him, they had many hushed whispers about her, she was different but many different people passed through. She sat along before the fire still seeing Kegan's face, but she hid that ring from that chain around her neck under raven locks and cloth of her shirt. When Drake returned he crossed to her and smiled. His face was always so dashing, even after a long days work.

"Aria." He let his hand rest to her shoulder.

"Vendui' Drake." She offered him a soft smile, and let the weight of her days fall aside as he sat beside her. "Your looking better, been able to go out side yet?" Aria nodded, "'tis a lovely village." He nodded, "Do you plan to stay?" He hoped she would. "I have not thought on it all that much." Another sage like nod he gave, "Well if you do stay I could get you a job here as a knight." Her raven brows rose at that, " I do not know what it is a knight does."

"A knight protects the people, helps them, obeys the kings word, does what he or she can for the peoples sake." Aria this time gave that nod, "I am skilled in battle, but I am more used to leading and protecting my own...kind." Drake nodded to that, " these are good people here, they do what any can do, they live here, travel between towns. If you take the offer you will be tested on your skills as a warrior, you will also have to learn how to ride a horse and get your own mount." "Who will test me?"

"I will, I would be the one to train and test you until your fit to go before the king."

"I know nothing of kings or knights Drake. " That got him to chuckle softly, " ye need not know anything of them to become a knight and as far as the king goes,ye merely have to be on your best before him."

"I will have to think on it." Aria shifted her hands through her raven locks and shifted back within that chair.

Aria had much training in how to sue a bow and arrow, a blade both short and long. She wielded them all with care and faness. She moved quickly and was silent like a hunter. But she would have to prove herself all over again.

The morning was new and she unwrapped the bandages that bound her. Her fingers trailed over the soft flesh of her side, healed without a mark to remember it. But what was it to remember. Aria still could recall nothing of that day save for the marks in the sand and the cold of the rushing Nisse. She wished she could remember, but she knew she had lost many things that day.

She rose with that sun and got dressed ready to be trained, she sheathed her fathers dagger and her sword then her bow was laid on the bed. The string was broken, the wood weathered by the wild Nisse. It would need to be repaired, but not today. Sword and dagger would have to do for now. She turned and Drake stood in the door way.

"You'll need your bow as well." Aria lifted it to show him it was broken. He nodded, "I can fix that while you work on your skills. " He reached out and took the bow.

Aria then lifted up her quiver, it had been empty since that day on the Nisse. She would have to buy or make new arrows. Drake led her out to the back of his home there stood wooden and hay statues made to look like men. " Get to it.." Aria went to work, hacking and slashing shadow fighting. Images flashed in her mind of Kyna and Thoren and the wild Nisse. Then a sudden burst of cold rushed her back to where she was Drake stood before her with her bow held out. "You fight well. Soon I'll have to see how you do against the living but for now show me what you can do."

The day went on and she had shown him all her skills, all but the one she held hidden. Magic was not something to freely talk of and hers was old magic, she would not use it less she had to. Drake patted her shoulder. " Your skilled, I think you'd do well, tomorrow we'll find you a good horse to train on. You'll do lots of traveling on horse back you'll have to get used to it." "I can run as fast as any wild horse." He smiled to that, "I am sure you can but when leading a group of villages between towns you will need a horse." Aria nodded to that.

Sleep was easy to get after a days long training, food was eaten and enjoyed. Drake was kind, kinder than she thought Humans could be. She had met them before, and Thoren had been kind but his mind had been easily corrupted. But She looked to Drake and saw that he was a man or honor not easily swayed by vexes or words. He did what he had to. And he was fluent in elvish.Which made things all that easier for Aria.

She always woke with the sun, it hadn't always been so. She got ready, and headed down to join Drake fro breakfast. He sat there at the table, his eyes down across the food, then up to her. He had never seen her with her hair up before. She was an amazing woman.

The kind of woman that wasn't found in this village the kind he had only ever dreamed about. She towered over most of the local women, and some of the men as well, her hair was so dark but in the light it shown with purple undertones.

Her eyes so deep and emerald seemed to shift through all the colors of green every time he looked at her. She was masterful at the bow, like a great hunter. Her skills with a blade were swift soft but amazing, and that dagger she held ti so close and fought well with it, her weapons were like no other elvish weapons he had ever seen. Just as she was they were unique.

They ate in silence, he wanted to badly to know more about her, but did not wish to distress her any about where she had come from. He often feared she would leave sooner than he would like. They made way to the stables after breakfast and she was allowed to pick out a horse. A task she had never done before, animals should be free, not bound by saddle, bridal and reins.

"I have never had to choose a horse before. I often watched them run free from a far," Drake nodded, " your horse is you ally, your friend ... you must trust him or her with your life. " Aria gazed over the horses, two brown, one black, one gray and one white. One of the brown ones had a black mane the others was two tones darker than its hide. The Black mare looked all to dark for Arias taste. The gray was an older gray male and he looked as if he should be out free in some field.

The white one looked like a nimras, and for that reason alone she would not make it in to a mount. She looked between the two brown horses one male one female. She walked up to the female and slid her hand through her raven mane. "Vendui beleg roch, amin essa Aria." The horse looked to her and nuzzled is nose at her hand. All horses were wild once, and Aria knew all beasts understood the caring touch one could give. "I shall ride this mare." The stable boy then walked over a fine saddle made of leather, as well as reins and bridal. Aria with Drakes held put them on her great horse. " Lle essa Arda." The horse looked to her and settled softly.

Over the coarse of the day drake taught her how to ride the mare, how to guide her and Aria taught him how to sometimes let the horse lead, for they are wise. At the end of the day Aria took off the saddle bridal and reins and led the horse back to Drakes home where it was penned in back with his own black and gray stallion.

They again ate dinner together and silence was filled in the room with the soft crackling of the fire wood. He watched her as she ate savoring each bite and wasting nothing. "Aria.." He smiled to her as he washed off their dishes, she cleaned off the table and her raven brows rose to him. "I feel as if I know so little about you, you have been a guest here for two full weeks now, and if things work out without he king, ye may very well stay here. I would like to know more about you.. if I could." Aria smiled and crossed to him, gazing up in to his eyes of brown and she nodded, "aye I would like that.."

The following day Aria made breakfast for them both and they sat at the table, today she would tell him about her self, but how much as she willing to open up to him?

"I grew up far from here, in a line of ashen mountains called Tel Ered Lithui They spread across the western border of my homelands like a spine.Tel Nim Litse the white wild beach spreads across beyond them sparkling with a light not many will ever see, Tel Nin Hyanda Shae washes along the white shores in soft bursts. The wind is wild there, and all you can see and sense is the ocean before you and the large ashen cliffs behind you. At night Tel Nim Litse drinks int he moon light and the color of the sky and it looks as if one is sitting with the very stars.Tel Anfauglir spreads across to the East. Beyond the Mountains, the wild sands of Tel Anfauglir hot in the day and cold at night. And through the South spreads the Wild Tel Mandu' Taure. The massive trees spread their arms in to the sky.

The forest floor deeply shadowed by the thick branches and large leaves of the trees. Yaara orn, the great ancient trees, their trunks wide enough for six grown men to stand around and link arms, their height so daunting to look up at them makes one dizzy. Their leaves are broad and wide as well as tough, perfect for quivers, sheathes and even boots. The few fruit trees that dwell in the forest produce a luscious fruit, eligre. It grows on only a few of the elder trees. In the spring the blooms form, a soft white glow takes over the forest as each flower opens, its petals are filled with lush perfume. The flowers can be white, or a soft pink.

The pink flowers are used by the Mandu' Eldalie to make a sweet wine. The white flowers are picked once the fruit appears then given to the virginal young women of the tribe. The white flowers are said to bring fertility. "

Drake listened intently and was amazed of how she recalled her lands, the smile on her face so wide and bright her eyes shimmered with a power he had never seen before. "To the North beyond the Wild Nisse River lays these lands here the unknown past the wild open fields of golden green grass. The Nisse rushes in from Tel Nin Hyanda Shae at the West and it reaches depths of six feet or more. It is nearly impossible to cross yet I have done so more than once now. There are two paths around the waters. Through and over the Ered Lithui, around the waters falls and deep valleys that carry the water to the ocean. And across the Cliffs to the far east, the cliffs of Uuranor.Uuranor is a dangerous place the water rushes under it through caves and out to the East and over the falls."

"What do your people think lies here in this unknown lands?" Aria shrugged tot hat, " most who have come this way never came back again, it is unknown what is here. No one really wishes to find out."

Drake nodded, "is there a ruling system in your lands?"

"The lands are divided between Elven Clans. Each clan ruled over a territory. The Ered Lithui clan ruled over the mountain range that their clan was named after, clan members bare a tattoo upon their body, usually on the back, a woven green band with colored spots three, the colors varied, each color represented a different family. The Mandu' Eldalie Clan ruled over the Forest. The clan tattoo was done in green and looked like a tree, a large ancient tree The hunters of the clan bare a tattoo of an arrow. And it is fabled that those embers believed to be druids bare a tattoo of both the arrow and the tree as well as a rose all mixed in to one tattoo. Tel Anfauglir is divided the wide space of sandy dunes is ruled over by four different clans of elves. Each clan differs in their customs the clans of the Anfauglir are: Tel Ronyo, Tel Kua,Tel Atalan,Tel Mithlin. Every clan member bares their clan tattoo."

Drakes brows rose, " where is yours?"

Aria stood and lifted up the back of her shirt and there he would see the mark of Ered Lithui.Shifting back in to her seat she smiled to him. " Tel Ronyo means The Fox and little was ever known about that clan. Their numbers dwindled they lived in the far east of the Anfauglir close to the cliffs of Uuranor. Their hair is red as the mountains and their spirits are also as fiery. Most of that clan is gone now though, any left will bare the mark which is a tattoo of a red fox. Tel Kua mean The Dove Clan, they are the closest clan near Ered Lithui they live on the Southern border, between the Forest and the Mountains. They are elegant, tall and regal. Their numbers flourish they hunt in the woods and travel over the mountains to the waters of the ocean. One of the few clans of elves that have light colored skin. It has been rumored that they are named the Dove Clan because they have wings, but this has never been proven, it is known that they bare a tattoo of wings done in silver. Tel Atalan means The Down Fallen Clan. They live on the South eastern border close to the woods. Their homes are the sand dunes that rise in to the sky. A hardy people, short and stout their skin is tanned for the unyielding sun. They live off the plants that grow in the shade of the dunes, they dig for their water. They hunt the creatures that live in the dunes, and sometimes go as far as the river to fish when times are bare. It is said that they are called the down fallen because of their size, and also because the dune often fall upon them in the wind. Their clan tattoo is a beetle done in gold what some may call a scarab. They are good and honest people, welcoming."

That got Drakes brows to raise a bit more. Aria was hiding things from him, she was not yet ready to tell him everything. "Tel Mithlin mean The Grey-Blue Clan. A clan of dark elves. Tall with long pale colored hair and eyes. They live on the bank of the Nisse they fish the waters and make their homes out of drift wood and mud. They are also craftsmen, they make spears and hooks from mined mithral deep in the earth. The forge fires and melt the meta la d sell it to passing clan members. The tattoo of the Grey-Blue Clan is four shimmering scales done in blue, silver, purple and green. Their women are very strong in battle. The Mandu' Eldalie Clan dwell within the Tel Mandu' Taure. Their numbers are vast. Their people are different ranging from dark Elven to those with light skin. They are advanced hunters, their skill with a bow and arrow would make any rangers jaw drop. Some of them are even fabled to be Taur'amandil, druids. Though magical powers are known and it would not be surprising if that rumor was true. They live in the trees and off the land, they welcome any in to the forest but one must not harm anything unless you intend to eat it or heal it your self or face the clan leader. The hunters of the clan bare a tattoo of an arrow, other members bare a tree done in green ink. And it is fabled that those members believed to be druids bare a tattoo of both the arrow and the tree as well as a rose all mixed in to one tattoo as I told ye before."

He nodded, she had not yet spoken of her own clan in any detail.

" Lastly there is The Ered Lithui Clan. We of the Ashen Mountains. We are a stead fast people. We live off the Mountain we grow out food and treck miles to the river or ocean for fresh fish. We are also crasftmen, we mine gems and metal from the earth everything from copper, gold to mithral from the ashen rocks. Most of the clan is dark skinned like the mountain its self, only a few are fair skinned, even fewer have dark hair. I was one of those few, born of light skin with dark hair and bright eyes. I was different from the rest of my clan and for those reasons I was singled out. From the moment I was born. But that is a tale for perhaps a night that has not gotten away from us so."

Drake cast his gaze tot he window it was dark out, and the moon was high. "I would like to know anything ye wish to tell me."

"In time, Othar, in time." Aria then rose and went to go to bed.

The next day was filled with light training, and as she promised she sat by him int he shade of the oak tree that grew near his home and told her the rest of her tale, but not all would be told, the best part of her she kept well hidden for good reasons.

"I was different from the rest of my clan and for those reasons I was singled out. My mother was different from the rest of the clan for she had been born outside the ashen mountains, she had been born in the woods. Her hair was light and her eyes dark, her skin softly tanned. My father was a dark elf, dark skin with light hair and eyes. I was born with raven hair and fair skin. My eyes the color of deep emeralds. From the beginning I was different. When I was young my father left seeking out the unknown to the North, he never returned. Scouts went out looking for him but turned up only his dagger laying along side the Nisse. My mother was stricken with grief and flung herself off the tallest peak of the mountains when I was only the human equalivant of a seven year old girl. I was raised by the tribe, they were my family. Though none were my blood kin."

Drake touched her arm softly. what a horror to lose her parents at such a young age.

Aria was touched by his concern. "I learned the trades well, the mining of metal made me strong, the forging of weapons made my eyes keen. The hunting of the dear that bound from the sides of the cliff faces made my shot deadly. By the time I was the age of twelve my skills were unmatched, I could wield both blade and bow with the skill of any of the men of the tribe. Every woman takes a right of passage when she turns sixteen on that day I got the clan tattoo upon my lower back. But it was different from the rest, though the colors of the dots within the woven green ribbon change from family to family my colors were different from my mothers or fathers. I was singled out because I had fair skin and raven hair. Though I did not know it then."

Drake could not understand why she would be singled out merely for the color of her hair or skin, it was very odd to him. He did not pretend to understand the ways of her people.

" I stayed within the tribe till my eighteenth year then I went out towards the valley where the Nisse flows through and followed it down to the Nim Litse. The sands were white as snow, and glimmered in the sun light. The sand felt cool under my bare feet as I walked from one end to the other. By the time I reached the shroeline to the south the sky had darkened. I sat there watching the dim flikering light of the fires in the mountain. Camp fires. The sands were cold and the light of the moon seemed to bounce off and in tot he whute sand the dark sky seemed to be swallowed by the sands ,it looked as if I was sitting upon the sky. I had brought privisons, food, water, my fathers dagger "

She touched it now as she spoke "and the sword that I had forged my self. I hung it from my belt at the left in its own special sheath. This thin blade with the curve like a rapier but the elegance of an elfin blade. Upon the blades hilt an elfin rune," She unsheathed it and showed it to him, " the sheath bare the very same. My fathers dagger hung sheathless at my right. The blade glows red in the light, the color is the color of deep wine. "

She unsheathed her fathers dagger and held it out to him. Drake had seen it but never really looked so carefully at it was a work of wonder. Made out mithral, calen mithral, gold, copper and iron the dagger is flawless. Perfectly blanced the edge curves making ti perfect for throwing. The end is slightly weighted with its fine designs.

"I had brought clothing as well simple leather goods dyed black from ash, simple shirts made of woven materials gained from other clans. A set of gold gauntlets that were my mothers.A set of leather arm bracers. A set of arm daggers that lay across the leather bracers.A pair of green gloves, and a pair of black heavier gloves. My bow and giver strapped to my back by an elegant leather belt. A simple belt around my hips, four sets of leather pants, twos sets of cloth pants , one pair of black leather boots, and one pair of doe skined boots. Food to last a week or more."

"truly a woman of many talents at such a young age."

Aria smiled to that blushing softly, " young in the eyes of men, an elder in the eyes of the elves.I caught fresh fish and cooked it over hot embers and rocks for my dinner. My reasons for going were all to clear.I was unwanted, I was different. I wanted to seek out the The Mandu' Eldalie Clan with in their woods, they were different as well perhaps they would take me in. If not I would treck to each clan and see if I could become one of them. My journey led me far and wide..but eventually found my place with Tel Atalan." She would tell him nothing of Thoren, or Kegan, not yet.

"How did you end up washed up where I found you?"

"I was attacked, but I cannot remember much of it," She lied, she couldn't recall details but she knew that Kyna had attacked her and that both she and Kegan had been washed down stream but only she had gone over the falls.

"Then I am glad to have found you."

"As am I" She gazed to him and saw that look he gave her, that long lingering look, but she could not allow herself to gaze back at him so though she longed to be withsome one, to not feel so lonely.

Her Training was done, and now she stood before the king. An elderly man, upon a throne of gold with a crown of the same metal, he had many guards. Aria knelt as she had never on both her knees before the king and he made her a knight, she would serve him till he let her go or she died. So was the rule.

She left and walked to her mar e and ran her fingers down its nose, eyes cast to the mountains. Drake had said they were dangerous, very dangerous all sorts of things lurked there things Aria had never heard of.

But now she was a knight, she refused to wear the armor though so she looked of more a ranger than a knight. Helping people she could do, leading them perhaps. But she knew she might have to work with other knights, lead them one day. It was an unsettling thought.

Later she picked at her food.

"Are you not happy to be granted in to the knighthood?" Drake sat across from her he'd never seen her like this.

"I have led people in to battle before, my own people. I have risked my life before for those who were like family to me, I have never led men whom do not know me in to any fray."

"It becomes easier as you do it. We all work together, you will see, your first mission is to lead the farmers from this village to the granary and back tomorrow. You'll do just fine, on the road there can be bandits sometimes wild animals."

Aria nodded to that. "It is my duty to help, and so I shall." Bound by honor and duty, so different from before.

Aria Valya

The next morning she got ready and headed out on Arda to meet those villagers she'd be guiding and protecting. There were mostly women, and girls a few older men. She nodded to them all treated them like they were no lower than she. She led them slowly towards the granary, there was no trouble along the way. As they worked inside she sat outside and listened and watched for anything amiss. Nothing came.

They were happy to have her guarding them. For three days she did the very same thing different villagers each time, and none of the times were they ever attacked. Drake promised her that eventually things would get harder.

For two weeks she led people along the trails between villages, towards the lake for fresh water and patrolled outside the city. Only twice had anyone dared attack and they were easily fought off.

Two times she patrolled with two of the other knights a woman and a man, by the end of that week on her last night patrol they were attacked by a horde of bandits but before the suns shining light could be seen The two other knights were singing her praises, they had fought and won even while being slightly outnumbered it seemed she would fit in well being a knight. That made her smile, though this was not her home she would defend the people who she quickly came to know and love.

Many of the young men were in awe of her, the women learned from her those who did not once know how to fight did now. Aria didn't care if she wasn't allowed to let the women learn, they wanted to. Most of them came to her at odd hours learning how to fight off an attacker.

Every morning and night she would join Drake for their meals together. They had become closer. Aria could sense the way he looked at her, and now she had begun to look at him back and smile.

It was late in the evening. Aria was sleeping. Her dreams were a wash of icy blue, dreams or nightmares for she tossed and turned. The Wild Nisse rushed with ice and her blood. Kegan held her close looked in to her eyes as they shivered, the Nisse carried them far. Her world went black. Aria woke with a start and a light scream.

Drake rushed in head strong sword ready. But when he saw it was just her alone he lowered his sword and walked to her side. His torso was bare. Aria's gaze lingered upon him. He walked to her bed side. "Are you alright?"

"Yes.." A long glance up in to his eyes. "Just a nightmare."He sat beside her with a nod. "Your safe here you know," He knew she had not told him all about her past, perhaps one day she might trust him. She has begun to look at him differently, as more than a friend or confidant. "I'll be close if you need me."His fingers slid through the wisps of raven hair that shadowed her eyes.

The next morn she passed his room and glanced in ward. He wasn't there. "Looking for me." Startled she jumped back and smiled to him then. "Aye I was. Thank you for coming so quickly last night." Drake nodded to that, "I heard you scream, I wanted to make sure you were alright. " Aria nodded and leaned in and kissed his cheek softly. Drake blinked as he watched her go down stairs. She had never done that before.

The next few days were filled with missions of the normal nature. Drake had begun to fall in love with his Elven house mate. He deiceded to be bold. He wanted to kiss her just once, he wanted to know if she felt as he did about her towards him. So after diner and after she was ready for bed he passed in to her room. She was standing by the window looking out, her face aglow from the moon light. He walked to her and placed his hand upon her shoulder. Aria turned to face him with a smile. Before she could speak he kissed her. A soft slow kiss, that slowly deepened as he felt her kissing him back.

The kiss was broken, Aria blinked to him. But said nothing. It had been over a month and she had not forgotten about Kegan but she had begun to love the man that had saved her and given her a new life. His touch felt nice, she could not hold Kegan, his arms could not be around her. Drakes arms around her felt nice, felt good.

Aria Valya

Date: 2007-10-26 15:32 EST
They went on for many days Aria wondered if Drake had wished the kiss had never happened. She had begun to think such. Though it was very nice she knew that eventually all things would be revealed. She did not know him well nor did he know her. They were so very different but now fighting for the same cause.

The training was never ending, the missions slowly got harder. More wounds to heal, more people to protect. More blood upon her sword and hands of things she had never even had nightmares about. Then Drake got a mission, sent to him by the king him self. Drake did not divulge much of it he was to head out at dawn.

They sat at the table eating in silence. Aria gazed to him many times and wondered so many things about him. Nothing she was willing to ask outright. The dinner was wonderful, and they lay by the fire for hours after ward, he held her in his arms and Aria breathed in deeply the scent of his home, his clothes, everything about him.

He kissed her brow as she lay there and ran his fingers through her raven locks. Before to long they both fell asleep and at dawn when they woke he kissed her softly before going out. "I'll be back within a week, stay safe." And he was gone like that.

Aria sat alone the rest of that day just sitting on the steps that lead up to his home. She had no missions today. She sat there and ran her fingers down that chain that held that ring, she usually kept it in her pocket when Drake was around, she was hiding it from him and from herself. She graced the ring of woven mithral and closed her eyes. She was so far away from everything she knew.

So far away from any real family. She wondered what Rhydin would be like, if there she could truly lose herself and find again her way home. Back to Tel Mandu Taure, back to Kegan. She knew she cared deeply for Drake, but she also knew the bonds of marriage tied her to Kegan.

In the Mountains Drake rode with six other of his comrades. They were there to find a band of orcs, or so the king said. They had all ready run in to a rogue band of Dark Elves and been hit hard, to men had broken arms, one a broken nose. Drake had a long cut along his arm but he could still heft his sword up to hack and slash.

They were making camp now, they would have to wait till dawn to push on, they made a small fire and huddled around it, careful to watch for wild rabid animals as well as any more bands of bandits. There were worse things up here than most of the towns people knew. The king had given them two days after that he would send reinforcements up to help them.

The night was filled with each man that was able to take up the watch Drake got the last watch before dawn the most dangerous. He walked crossing by the fire and back many times his eyes cast out to the darkness, then towards the sun as it started to peek over the underbrush. Something moved shifted behind him and then he felt a sharp pain shoot through his shoulder.

He reached back and pulled a small throwing dagger from his shoulder. His eyes cast back and he saw them, a horde of not only orcs, but dark elves as well coming towards the camp. He sprinted through the pain and woke his comrades and they stood ready for the fight that was to come, they were greatly out numbered, six men three injured already, and no reinforcements for another day. Town was to far to call for help they would have to stand together and hope to win.

They were rushed the sound of clashing swords and axes was heard as the sun rose higher over the mountains.

Drake rose from the ground with a moan. The fight had gone on for what felt like hours before a horn blazed in the distance. The dark elves scattered away and Drake was pulled to his feet with that moan. He gazed around through the blood that ran down his face and saw that he and two other men were the only ones standing. Behind him stood a fleet of other men and women who had been sent to help.

Drake was surprised he wasn't dead. His rips were broken, his left arm as well blood trickled down over his eye which was closed. That blood dripped from the gash in his forehead, He and the two others would be carted away and the fleet would take care of those dark elves that slowly started to escape.

Drake was lucky to be alive and in one piece most of his men had been torn to bloody bits, he and the two others that survived were rather lucky. Drakes wounds would heal. But it would take time. After a very short meeting with the king Drake was sent home to rest and heal along with him he took a letter meant for Aria's eyes only.

Aria gazed to him as the two men led him in to lay upon the couch. She had seen worse. But any worse and she was sure he would not be breathing barely. She gazed to the letter and ripped it open. It was a message right from the king, that simply stated that she was to take care of Drake while he was healing and offer what ever survives she could healing wise to him. It was an order and not a request. Aria would follow those orders to the letter and take care of Drake till he could again fend for himself.

Drake would need time to heal. Her orders were to make sure he had the best care. She made food for him, helped him change as well as bathe. Her feeling for him were changing, she could tell she was fallen. She had fallen in love with him. But her heart was torn between two worlds. The world in which Drake dwelled, and her own world. Of which Drake could never be apart of. After Thoren and his betrayal it was likely that most of the elves in her homelands would be more wary of humans.

Her fingers slid around his waist as she wrapped him up in bandages. His fingers slid over her shoulder. "Aria?" Emerald hues shifted over to him as she helped him lay down. "Yes Drake." His chocolate toned hues looked to her, "thank you for taking such good care of me," He placed a soft kiss upon her cheek. Aria's cheek flushed with a sudden blush before she pulled back. He was now snug in bed and Aria would leave him to rest.

Aria crossed down stairs and sat by the fire side while he slept. Every time she closed her eyes she could hear voices in her mind willing her back home. Her heart ached, how could she allow herself to fall in love when she was bound to Kegan. The fire granted warmth but only visions so convoluted from her past that she could not make them out. Aria wondered if she would ever remember what had happened.

Aria would get no rest, though it wouldn't show upon her fair Elven features. No dark circles, no sign save for the fact that her reflexes were a bit slow. When dawn came Aria rose dusting her backside off as she headed up to check on Drake. He was sleeping, soundly. Those wounds though deep didn't seem to bother him now. Perhaps it was her Elven touch or her knack for dressing wounds. Either way he rested soundly.

Aria sat in the room by the window gazing out over the busy city square. The modern civil world. All its splendors and still there were dangers. Monsters and men. The unknown. As well as magical forces. Aria played with the idea of learning more about the magic that was natural to her while she sat there and watched over Drake but the idea was quickly abandoned.

Once Drake was awake she changed his bandages and made him a hearty meal. She tended to him with loving care. Perhaps a bit to much. She would catch him watching her as she walked away to take the dishes to wash. Aria could sense his affection for her without him even saying anything. Once he was sleeping again she made the choice to pack up her things. Once he was well she would leave, she had made that choice now and she would not go back on it. She could not and would not lead him blindly in to something that could never be.

They days went by. The weeks. At last she watched Drake as he walked around the house without any help. She had missions to go and do now that we was well enough to take care of himself.

She set out for her normal patrolling around the village. Tending to traveling merchants and helping out those she could. But though her hours were filled with training and patrols, her mind often wondered off. Every gust of wind carried Kegan's voice. Every faint whisper of grass made her think of home.

Aria had gotten to know the two knights she often patrolled the surround with very well there as Natasha a very well trained woman who claimed to be from some ice bidden isle far away at sea. Her hair was long braided and blonde. Her eyes fierce. She wielded an ax with grace and power. She wore skins and furs and was very wild. When she spoke Aria could hardly understand the woman. "Ja." Natasha would say often.

Then there was Daniel he was young.

But most humans seemed so young to her eyes, but he really was sixteen maybe seventeen. Yet strong and his eyes spoke of all the chaos he had seen in his time so far served. His hair short soft chestnut brown his eyes deeply set and blue. He wielded a long iron claymore.A sword that many of the men carried. He hardly spoke, only when he was spoken too. He was curt and direct. "Left flank, up front." He would note a villager wandering off or a flock of birds that moved through the sky, with remarks like. "Simple black birds. On the Wing."

They each rode on their chosen horse.Natasha to her right , Dan to her left a flock of villagers between them.Merchants,farmers,travlers.Being safely taken back towards town. Aria watched the surround keenly. In the last weeks while she had been busy nursing drake back to health there had been six attacks on those outside the walls, six large attacks.

Aria watched until the villagers were safe back inside the walls then the three knights headed out Natasha went north Dan went east and Aria wen west. The ranks were thinly spread, Drake wasn't well enough to go out of the village and many of the men had been wounded. Aria was bracing for a fight.

Anything to get her mind off of things. An arrow shot through the din light of the shadowed light of day. It was not normal. A glance around found that it had been shot by a band of bandits not a mile away. Aria knew she was well with in range to take her bow and hit them all, but something about a head on confrontation felt needed.

Anything to get her mind off of things. An arrow shot through the din light of the shadowed light of day. It was not normal. A glance around found that it had been shot by a band of bandits not a mile away. Aria knew she was well with in range to take her bow and hit them all, but something about a head on confrontation felt needed.

Aria spurred Arda on towards the volley of arrows that flew past her.Arda moved like a horse trained by elves. Aria didn't have to guide her very much. Those arrows flew past her thunking hard in to the ground. Aria was hell bent on a head to head confrontation it was only four bandits she had faced worse odds.

Aria drew her sword and jumped from Arda's saddle towards the archer of the group. He was met with a quick fate of an Elven blade. The other three scattered. So much for head on combat. That sword was cleaned with one motion and her bow pulled with another, arrow pulled with it and shot in two fluid motions.

Two of the tree went down, one dead one merely stopped in her tracks the other had slunk quickly out of range. Aria paced over tot he woman who was trying to pull the shaft of the arrow from her leg. "You'll bleed to death." Aria chanted her head to the woman. "I'll break a deal with you, tell me where your base is and I'll help you, you'll get tossed in jail but you'll live to see another day. How does that sound?"

The woman looked up at her, her hair was dark, her eyes the same. She looked wild and thin. Her clothes worn. A new comer to the bandit gang. "Okay." Aria bent down broke the shaft in two and pulled each end out before dressing the bloody wound. The woman looked to her scared for her life. "Talk." Aria's words were curt and demanding.

"The base is hidden by the mountains, there's is at least a dozen bandits there at all times." "How many are there total? "

"I do not know." Aria pulled the woman to her feet. "All right." On to Arda she put the woman and mounted up behind and went back for the village. She might gather some reinforcements then head back. Or perhaps she might take them all on alone.

But then she knew that would just lead to her most likely dying at their hands. Once dropping the bandit woman off in the jail she gathered Natasha,Dan and five other knights whose names escaped her. And as a unit they would head for the hidden bandit camp.

Aria Valya

Aria rode at the front of the pack with Dan and Natasha. The other five knights were flanked out at either side and behind them. They rode slowly quietly. They would still be out numbered if what the captive bandit woman had said was true. But they were heavily armed and ready for this battle. Aria could see over the fields for many miles towards the mountains. No one spoke. The horses were tense. Aria slowed the trot. She was not the leader here no but Natasha trusted her view. "Hva do ye see Aria?"

"I see the camp. Its not only inside a cave but outside, I see at least a dozen bandits. The wind is with us. We should move closer, some of us should ride around and attack others should go in on foot."

Natasha nodded, "Well ye heard her. Onward."

The knights trotted onward. Once the grove of oaks was reached Aria, Dan and Natasha dismounted along with two other knights. Natasha looked tot he still mounted. "Stay med det wind. Ride around and attack." The four knights still mounted nodded and rode off quietly. Aria shifted then in to the grove of trees. Dan followed her close behind.Natasha stayed with the other two knights who were rather new, she would have to watch out for them.

Elven eyes peered through the trees. The bandits passed to and from the cave some camped outside of it. Chests of gold were seen. There tents were not lavish but the gems they held sparkled in the light. Aria watched and moved onward with the other close at her heels. "Sneak attack." Aria moved in drawing her dagger. Dan followed her he drew the small but sharp hunting blade from his back sheathe. Natasha looked to that ax in her hand and sat it along her back and drew that ax she would be more likely to chop wood with and snuck in behind the two. The other two knights followed her without question.

Aria and Dan went right. Natasha took the two rookies to the left with her. They slunk along the outer rim of the camp killing those sleeping or unaware in their tents. Then the mounted knights rode in arrows flying. Aria ducked the volleys and she and Dan ran along the outer rim to join up with Natasha and the two rookies. The bandits came out in full force. Aria changed from stealth mode with that dagger to full on attack mode taking her elfin blades hilt in hand.

Dan swung that claymore with power. Natasha chopped all those who came her way with a mighty ax blow. Two mounted fell from their mounts when the horses were killed. Then those knights were killed. Bandits died right and left but more seemed to flow from the cave. Aria pulled Natasha and Dan to the ground as arrows flew past them all. Natasha looked on and nodded with a smirk. "We be out numbered." Aria nodded tot hat the two rookies had killed only three bandits. All the mounted knights were dead. Aria glanced back over her shoulder they were hidden for now. "You two." To the rookies, " we three will create a distraction go get two horses and ride to town get help." The two nodded.

"Ready to make some noise there young blood?" That to Dan. Natasha just smirked and was ready to go. Aria rose blade held to block any arrow's volley and ran in followed closely by Natasha and Dan. Aria made her way for the cave the two others behind her. Any in their path was knocked down and out of the fight. Aria ran through the cave with Dan and Natasha on her heels she ducked in to one of the passageways that seemed rather unguarded and was followed by the two. Aria pressed her back to the wall and took a long breath. Bandits ran right past them not seeing the three.

"Oh come on we can take them." Dan uttered low. Natasha looked to Aria. " Too many." Aria agreed, they needed to hide some where. Then Aria saw a small wooden door at the back of the passage way. She moved along the wall with the shadows and opened the door and when she opened it her emerald hues could not believe what she saw.

Bandits ran right past them not seeing the three. "Oh come on we can take them." Dan uttered low. Natasha looked to Aria. " Too many." Aria agreed, they needed to hide some where. Then Aria saw a small wodden door at the back of the passage way. She moved along the wall with the shadows and opened the door and when she opened it her emerald hues could not believe what she saw.

The room glittered with gold and silver. Dan and Natasha looked in. Dan's eyes wide. Natasha chortled softly.Aria moved in to the room it was unguarded. There was only two ways out through the door and down a narrow passageway that lead who knew where. Natasha closed the door behind her and braced it locking it closed. "Det outta hold." Now those eyes that Aria always found so fierce glittered with the sight of all the stolen goods. "De must have thousands. Jeg har aldri sett derfor mye gullet, s?lv og rikdommerer."

Aria looked back to her brows risen. Dan slowly sat down his back to a wall he was taken back by all the riches, but also tired from the battle. "They will find us eventually." Aria glared at him. "There are only two ways in here through that door and through that passage way." Dan glanced tot he passage way. "We should see what's down there."

"Ja. Men hva av all this shinny stuff?" Aria looked around to all the gold, silver, gems and stolen things. "Don't take any if that's what your thinking, its all stolen. It will have to be returned." "Spoil sport." Dan uttered and rose to standing once more. He walked towards the small passage way and looked down it. He adjusted his sword in to his other hand and slipped in to the darkness.

Aria sighed and went after him.Natasha chortled and looked one last time at all the gold and followed the two in to the narrow passage way. " Dette her way be made for ye of Alfheim." Aria smirked to that it was a narrow passage way that even she had to slip through it would be hard in heavy armor. Dan slid through with sounds of metal to rock as his light knight armor slid past the boulders.

Aria wore no armor unlike all her counterparts, the only thing she wore was those gold tinted gauntlets. Natasha slid through the passage way with a bit of trouble as her furs caught the rough edges of the stones. She huffed and tugged on them on an off as they got caught. But soon the passage way opened to a lit room. Lit by light from above.

But soon the passage way opened to a lit room. Lit by light from above.
"En hall for de d?de." Natasha looked around. Aria glanced seeing the many heavy tombs of stone. Dan stood motionless. Aria counted twelve no thirteen tombs, heavy coffins. The light shown from above was natural yet had an eerie glow to it. Aria lowered her head tot he tombs.

They were not the tombs of the bandits no those outside had no graves like this. Aria pressed her gloved hand tot he dust covered tomb that stood before her. The words were written upon each one stating the persons name and when they died, but a few of the tombs she could not read. But the one before her had drawn her attention for the words were elvish.

"Hva does it say?" Natasha looked to the tomb which Aria stood before. Here lies lord of gifts, the lord of ,"Sinome kea Annatar. Tel' Heru en' Methedras." Natasha looked on listening to Aria speak she had only heard the word of those like her spoken once or twice. "It says here lies lord of gifts, the lord of the last peak." Natasha nodded looking to the tomb that lied next to that one. "Hva about that one?"

Aria gazed over the words there written were not elvish they were drow. "I do not know, it is written in the tongue of the Drow." Aria gazed tot he tomb next to that written in the human tongue, then over to a tomb whose words she could not read. Natasha followed Aria's gaze. "Her ligger l?ven av vinteren. En kriger.En far. En elsker. Kan guden blyet ham til Valhalla." Natasha read the tomb with ease and noted two more of the tombs were written int hat tongue she knew. "Her lies the lion of winter. A warrior. A far. A lover. May the gods lead him to Valhalla." Aria nodded to that and shifted her gaze across the room to Dan who lingered by two of the tombs. Aria moved along under the glow of the room.

"Theres another way." Dan stated looking to his left was a dark opening. It looked as if it led downward.

Aria looked to the two tombs the words there written she could not read. Aria then led the way down through the dark opening. Natasha followed and Dan followed lastly. Aria could sense that Dan knew what those two tombs read but was not about to say anything. He was a young man but a man of much mystery. The passage way was dark and Aria even with her Elven sight had to guide herself through with her hands out stretched so not to hit any walls or hanging rocks.

Aria then caught sight of a glittering light ahead. Carefully she stepped out and found that they had entered a huge room that glittered with light. The room sparkled with gypsum, crystals. Gems of sappahire, ruby, emerald and diamond glittered among the darkly colored walls. It was like the night sky filled with stars

Gems of sappahire, ruby, emerald and diamond glittered among the darkly colored walls. It was like the night sky filled with stars.

" Ed' i'ear ar' elenea." Aria's vice echoed off the walls. Dan seemed to be taken back by the sight as well. He soon found a good place to rest. They would have to make camp here within the walls of the glittering cavern, that was hidden within the cave of the bandits. Natasha sat down beside Dan and looked around. " I ha never seen such ? glitring place as this. " Aria soon sat beside them. They would need a fire by the time night fall came Aria was sure it would be cold. Yet there were no sticks or pieces of wood to use. Aria looked between the two.

It was time to call upon those powers she had hidden all this time. She gathered a few rocks and made a small circle for the fire to be contained in. Both Dan and Natasha watched her with keen eyes. Aria plucked off her heavy green ridding gloves and lowered her fingers to the glittering sand of the cavern floor. "Yala onna en' naur." A flicker of a flame was seen in her fingers tips.

She let the fire rise from her hand and it took over that small sandy circle. Aria sat back and replaced her gloves upon her fingers. Dan said nothing only held his hands over the fire with a smile. Natasha looked to Aria with wide eyes. "Ye Alfheim magicks are meget powerful." Aria smirked to that comment, "your welcome."

They had some food with them, pieces of bread and dried meats. Dan had brought a cube of what he called bullion.Itw as broth he said. Aria was glad to have in her pack a few vegatbles,a carrot, a turnup,a potato. It would have to do for now. Natasha had a small iron pot in that pack upon her side. Aria cleaned off her dagger and used it to cut the vegatbles.Dan placed the cube of broth in to the small pot. "We don't have any water. " Aria had her water but it was with Arda. She gazed tot he pot and concentrated, " yala onna en' alu." Drops of water formed from the bottom of the pot till she let the magic fade. She dropped the vegetables in tot he pot then and held it over the fire with a touch of magic.

They each had a small wooden bowl and spoon thankfully. Once their meager soup was done Aria divided out portions Dan shared his bread pieces and Natasha shared her dried deer meet. It would have to keep them till morning or later. There was only one way back out which was the way they had come. But at least they were well hidden from the remaining bandits for now.

No one had yet found them. But then again they could have blocked off their way back. Aria was already trying to see if any of the dark corners held another way out. But the only point where any light came in was from above like the grave room before.

There was a small hole many feet above them that let in sun light. That light was fading ad was filled by the flickering light of their fire. The fire light made the room glitter even more the diamonds shown and the emeralds sparkled with a light much like the light from Arias emerald toned hues.

The rubies shown like the fire bright and red. The sapphires glittered like far off stars. The cavern was warm thanks tot he fire though Aria was sure she want the only one who felt the draft from above. It was night now, the dusk had fallen and all was silent. Aria kept a keen ear tuned for any voices any at all. But none came. It was just they three. Aria smiled, if she were to die any where she would have liked it to be with friends.

Natasha and Dan were her friends. Comrades. A thought of Drake crossed her mind. By now the two rookies must have made it back tot he village if they had not been stopped. Aria knew that once Drake heard of her being gone he would volunteer to help. And come hell or high water he would help she knew nothing save for death could stop that man.

Aria wondered if leaving was still the right choice to make. She still planned to leave once this mission was done. But if they were never found they would all die. She had many powers but she couldn't survive not eating for too long. Water was the main issue. She knew none of them could last through more than one night here. The meager soup would keep them for now. It was quiet all too quiet. The distant hoot of owls outside could be heard but perhaps only Aria could hear it. Aria looked to Her comrades. Dan was quiet tending to the gash on his arm. Natasha was looking around, she bore a small cut upon her brow but nothing more.

They sat looking around the cavern over the glittering rocks, gems and crystals. It was a very lovely cavern.

Aria Valya

The three sat in the cavern of glittering rocks. Dan, Natasha and Aria. The three to live through the fight. Two others had gone back to town for help. The rest were gone. Natasha looked around the cavern then between Dan and Aria. Dan was wounded but he would live.Aria had a few marks from battle but nothing serious. "Dette stedet minner meg av et sted fra min barndom." She began.

Aria brows rose and with weary eyes looked to Natasha.

"Listen her Alfheim one and man of Midgard." Her wild eyes were cast to the young Dan. "Upon det isle of ice is n?r I was jorn. We lived a simple life. Mor,far,br?dre and I. I be one of a boys house. Det only woman there save for my mor. I had six br?dre . All who dwell in Valhalla now."

Aria's brows rose with a sip of that broth. They had some food, mostly broth and root vegetables to get them through till the help came. If it came. Natasha looked to Aria and her risen brows. "Valhalla, Alfheim one be a place for det greatest of warriors who have died to be." Aria nodded to that all people seemed to have a view of what came after this life. " First me far died in det great battle with Jotun. De even towered over him. De crushed all in their path till many men were dead and det fields n?r red. My den yngste broren died next shot with an arrow through det heart. Da det next two fell in battle with Svart?lfar. De be like you Aria yet darker."

"Dark elves. Or Drows." Aria chimmed in. Dan just held his hands over the fire and sipped at his broth every so often.

"Aye. Well n?r my br?dre all were dead, and it was just me and my mor she looked to me and said 'Taska your det warrior of this house now. I Da became a shield madien. I fought along side det best of det men.N?r my mor died I set out to sea.I had no reason to stay and fight det wars with det gods and men.n?r I came her, I found not a soul that knew of my home but many had heard of a place like it De called it myths. I fell right in to place her and have been her since."
Aria sat forward then. "What do your people believe in?"

Natasha chortled softly. " Der are nine worlds to us of det ice and snow.At least det elders always taught us. Asgard, world of det ?sir. Valhalla is Odin's hall within Asgard; it home of det Einherjar, who var det souls of det greatest warriors.Like me br?dre . Those warriors var selected by det Valkyries.Who are Odin's mounted female messengers whose sparkling armor shone light lights in det North, that armor was mythed to be created by magkics.. Det Einherjar would help defend det gods during Ragnarok, which was det end of det world. Hvor everyone would die in a great battle between det gods and their enemies. Vanaheimr, home of det Vanir. Midgard, det mortal plane. Is where Young Dan hails from Na?"

Dan just waved his hand at her once.

"Muspell, world of fire and home of Surtr, a giant whose skin was lava and had hair of fire. Niflheim, det icy underworld ruled by Hel, Loki's half-giantess daughter, and home of det frost giants. But Home was much like Niflheim frosty and snow det people often paid dept to Loki's Daughter.Hel.Alfheim, world of det elves. Is where you would hail from Aria, ja?"

"No, I hail from Ered Lithui."

Natasha shurgged, "Alfheim." A smirk crossed her face, "Svart?lfheim, home of det Svart?lfar. Or Drow's as ye called them Aria. Nidavellir, world of det dwarves, det tiny men who var great miners and goldsmiths- De would often build magical items for det gods such as Thor's hammer and Freyr's mechanical boar. De might be det ones who made that armor that det Valkyries wore, or perhaps it was det elves. Jotunheim, world of det Jotun, or giants. And De made a stir upon det isle."

"Nine worlds, and they are somehow connected?"

"Aye . A root of black toned ash called Yggdrasil.Tis like a tree."

Aria shook her head softly, what an odd world Natasha had hailed from. It made her home seem all too normal. Dan shifted looking between the two women. Aria watched him, "come now Young blood what's your story all this time and we know nothing of you."

Aria Valya

"What is there to know of me."He cast a long look between the two. "I am just a man." Aria's brows rose to that. "Your young, a young man. Who is a knight for some reason, yes?"

"All are young in the eyes of those who are immortal Aria. And yes there is a reason for my knighthood." That was true most Aria saw had youthful look, but there were some who did not, those were the ones who were like her who lived long lives. Those with a warriors heart and soul she could see when she gazed in to their eyes. Dan was a knight in duty as well as in his soul. " Komm now Daniel, tell us something." Natasha smiled, "I told ye my story."

Dan nodded to that, "Aye you did." Aria gazed to him, "come on, were all friends here." Dan sighed and lowered his bowl to the sandy ground. "Well much like Taska here I was not born upon these golden plains. I grew up in a place far from here and also came here on a bateau." The word slipped out " On a ship." Dan quickly corrected. Aria noted as he spoke the accent to his voice, no wonder he was always short and curt with his words he was trying to hide. The word that slipped from his lips she did not know.

"My p?re was a noble man in Brest, The Count De' Lorient. I was the youngest of his sons. I had sept fr?res,et l'un soeur. "

Aria then noted that among them she was the only one without any siblings. Natasha had brothers as did Dan, he also had a sister. Aria never understood what it was like to have siblings. And there was another word or two she did not know like Tasha he must have spoken another language something they all shared. "Seven brothers and one sister." Dan filled in the blanks.

"Hva be their names?" Natasha looked on as she sipped down the rest of her broth. "

" Fredrick is the eldest. Then there is Martin and Connor who are twins. Then Byron et Jeffory. Then Austin et Reese, then myself et my soeur Claire who is the youngest but I am the youngest boy."

"And what be this count business?" Natasha smirked.

"A count is like a duke, they hold lots of power. My p?re held a lot of power over his people. He ruled over a village and a town. He ruled over the docks and beaches. He was a tyrant at the very least. My soeur was sent away at a very young age to a school somewhere in the north. My m?re was beside herself. P?re dominated over her for many years. Fredrick, Martin et Connor went off to fight for p?res wars. They never came back, if they died or simply left I never found out. Byron et Jeffory left home et went to school et now live surely in Paris or some great city outside of p?res reach. His eyes gazed to the fire then up.

Austin came with
me on the ship et Reese married in to money so p?re deals with us all very little. When we came here Austin et I fought side by side for a long time. I lost him. He vanished. He had often said that he thought he had found true love in a woman he he'd met here. His gaze lingered upon Arias Elven features.

I met her once. She was Elven like you Aria. Yet she was far more fair skinned and her hair was light and silver. She was striking and powerful. I gave up looking for him long ago. "

Aria gazed to him she had no idea his life had been so devastating. A father so mean and brothers lost forever. "I've been here since then, we came when we were still young. We had to escape p?re. Which we did. I am sure his rule hasn't budged. M?re is likely dead now. I know nothing of my Clarie or other brothers if they are alive or not. I have often looked for Austin and his elfin lover but after this night I look no longer. "

"Hvorfor ?" Natasha chimed in. "Long before this place was a bandit hide out it was a place to bury dead, as you well saw. There was a band of people from every race that banded together. I heard the tale when I first became a knight and thought for sure it to be myth but after seeing those tombs in that grave room I know it to be true. Those graves there, that neither of you could read I am sure. They read, "Couche ici Austin De ? Lorient. Un homme de loin des eaux. Un guerrier dans le coeur et jaillit. Et l'autre lire ici couche la foire et Yavie de guerrier d'elfe courageux." Aria gazed to Natasha and the Norse woman shrugged. Dan gazed up tot hem with sadness in his eyes, " they were the tombs of Austin and his Elven lover." Simply said.

Aria looked to him seeing the sorrow in his eyes. "Oh Daniel I am sorry." "Ja, tis sad." Dan looked between the two with a slow nod. "Thank you both." Aria shifted laying back in to the sand. Now she understood them both more. They were closer as comrades now. Aria closed her eyes and rested there. They each took terns listing for anyone coming.

It wasn't till dawn that they all heard a huge noise outside. They all readied their weapons and worked their way back in to the treasure champer.Aria braced against the door and kicked it down ready for an attack. What she got was swept up by Drake. " Thank the gods your all alive!" Natasha smirked and lowered her ax.Dan sighed and shook his head.

There was a massed force of at least twenty men outside the cave. Most of the bandits were dead but a few had been captured. None of those who were alive would dare speak the name of the one who was in charge. Aria could tell though that at least four had gotten away by the horse tracks leading away from the camp. But it would be a long time before any bandits tried to attack the village or its people.

Drake was happy to have her back. Aria bid good-bye for now to Dan and Natasha, knowing that it would most likely be the last time she worked with either one.

The king commened The tree on their finding of all the treasure the following day. Dan was givena high position as a personal guard and Natasha was made a worth while Captain. He offered Aria the same title but she turned him down and would not give him the exact reason. He respect her wishes though for now.

Aria spent that day with Drake they walked around the village. It was a buzz with her acts of bravely and valor. She had kept five people alive through the fight. Her keen senses had saved them all. But Aria wished she could have saved more of those who she'd taken in to battle, but she knew when you lead people in to battle they are going to die, some are going to die needlessly. That was what war and battle was about needless pointless death. But they fought on any how.

She shared a picnic lunch with Drake and told him all about everything they had seen and the stories told. It filled the hours of passing day with memories she would take with her. Aria never let on that she planed to leave for she knew if he knew Drake would try and stop her. There was a massive feast in the village come night fall to celebrate the dead and those who had lived as well as the treasure of the bandits being gone for now. Every time Drakes hand brushed along her back she tried her best not to lean in to it but it had become something she was so used to.

After the hearty full meal the two slipped back to Drakes home. They sat by the fire side for long hours in the quiet for one last eve Aria lay in his arms and tried not to be sad. She would not say good-bye to him, she could not do so, it would be all to much for her heart to bare. She leaned in to his fingers as he slid them through her hair. He was silent watching the fire light with her. Aria closed her eyes and before long they slept up in his bed side by side. One last time.

She woke with the rising sun. Drake was already gone. Aria looked to the bed were they had laid side by side. She had felt comfort in his arms. But the wash of her old memories was all to much to bare. She had to leave had to disappear. So she took up her things, every last bit of evidence that she had ever been there and packed it all away in tot hat bag tat hung at her side, her clothing and weapons. She snuck out the back window and down to were Arda rested in the pasture. She would ride the mare to the woods beyond the village and towards Rhydin then leave Arda to roam freely. But before she left she left a note upon Drakes pillow.

" d?hena amin , " It was written in elvish.

" amin caro mela lle , nan' eller nir' nat' amin il rangwa .Ten' en' tayna amin gar a' kelaya Amin gar a' aut a' utua amin au'. Amin sinta lle innas khila amin, lle innas na utua amin. Eller naa ikotane sai lle caro sinta ten' amin. Sinta tayna amin innas na varna . Amin innas nowa en lle manka amin ele lle anta rato amin innas sana seasa e' tayna re."

Till then, stay safe.
Aira

(fogive me, I do love you, but there are many things I do not understand. Because of that I have to leave.I have to go to find myself again. I know you will follow me, you will find me. There is so much you do not know about me. Know that I will be safe. I will think of you, if I see your face soon I will take pleasure in that day .)

She left the note there before slipping out the window to get Arda and ride away. She stayed off the roads and moved through the small alley ways between houses till the village stood at her back she then drove Arda to a patch to trees. "I must leave you here my friend, it pains me to do so. But run free and perhaps one day if I need you I shall find you again. " Aria then took the saddle and reins off Arda shook her mane free and Aria dropped the saddle to the ground taking with her small leather pack full of rations. She gave Arda a kiss on the nose and slid slowly away Arda stood there for a long moment before trotting off and Aria began her treck on foot towards Rhydin.

She walked for miles putting distance between herself and the village. She knew that once Drake came home and found her note he might come right after her. Aria hoped to be long gone by then. Aria found that she wasn't the only one heading for rhydin a band of merchants were heading that way. "You headin to Rhydin?"

"You headin to Rhydin?"

The man at the front looked to her and Aria nodded as she shifted out of the way. "We be heading that way too, me my wife and our children, please jump on always happy to help." Aria smiled and nodded to him and went to the back of the wagon where she slid in there sat his wife a young boy and a young girl.

The woman smiled to her. " An elf, I haven't seen any out here before." Aria smiled to the woman and let down her raven hair to hide those Elven ears. The little girl smiled up at Aria. "Your pretty."

Aria smiled to the girl, "Diola lle." The woman then blinked, "Oh you don't speak common but you understand it?" Aria nodded, might as well go along with it she was trying to leave everything behind. "Oh well I am Grace, that is Matthue and this is Emily. My husband is Dar. " "Saesa omentien lle." Grace smiled softly, "You know I know a little Elven, tis a lovely language. My husband knows more. Are you heading to Rhydin?" Aria nodded.

Grace smiled a bit more, " we are traders, and you?" "Othar." Aria motioned to her sheathed sword, and dagger. Then that bow and quiver on her back. "A warrior, well no lack of those needed in Rhydin it can be dangerous there but you seem well equip. "

Emily tapped on Aria's arm. Grace pulled her back, " you must forgive my daughter she has never seen anyone like you." Aria notice that the boy was very silent and watching her intently. "Neither one of my children have ever seen an elf. " Aria smiled, the journey would be faster now than it would have been on foot and she would be harder to track. But it would be a long journey. Aria watched the children with a soft gaze. Her gloved hand raced across her side, she had recalled some of what happened but not everything all she knew was that she had lost something very dear that day Kyna attacked.

Rhydin would be reached in a matter of days, rest taken with every night. Aria aided in protecting the small family form bandits and they were happy to have her. They traded tails of their travels and Aria listened. They were a night away from Rhydin when Grace finally asked Aria her name. Aria didn't want to lie, these people had been so kind to her but she would not place them in any danger by knowing her real name. "amin essa Isilma." Grace smiled , "that is a lovely name. We will be in Rhydin soon, I hate to part ways with you, you've been so helpful, Emily shows a real shine to you even Matt seems to like your company and I know he wouldn't say it but Dar likes having a bit more muscle along." Aria chuckled tot hat.

Once they got to Rhydin Aria let the wagon go in to the marketplace before she slid out the place was teaming with people, elves, all types. It was amazing. Aria took a long sash of green cloth and slid it over her face and around her head. She bowed to the family in thanks before leaving them to sell their wears.

The buildings were taller here. They made her feel small made her long for forest and wide open plains. But then she remembered she had come for a reason. To escape. That green cloth concealed her face, her raven hair flew back with the cool breeze that wafted through the alley ways between the buildings. She gave one last look to the little family as they set up shop. Emily waved good-bye and Aria lifted her green gloved hand in return.

Rhydin was not new. Aria could tell that, some of the buildings were old others were newer or being rebuilt. Aria checked her weapons once, twice. Sword across her right, dagger at her left quiver empty upon her back with her bow in need of some fixing. She would have to buy or make arrows and either fix her bow herself of find a talented wood worker to do so. But the thought of letting some stranger touch her bow unnerved her. Kegan had been the last one she really wanted to touch it. Drake had fixed the bow string. But he held no power no magic in his veins. Aria could tell from the moment they had pulled in to the market place that this place was full of magic and those who beheld it. She walked with caution down the street and towards the rest of the city that lie beyond.

The day was spent just wandering from place to place. She heard whispers of dangerous places and for now would avoid them. She heard of places to stay and safe havens. One name stuck out in her mind. The Red Dragon Inn. But now it was already dark and far to dangerous to go about unknowing. She would find some place high and out of sight to stay for the night then continue in the morning and sun lit hours of day to find this Inn.

The night was spent on the roof top, not really resting. Not sleeping at least. The clouds that covered the moon seemed to hide the stars. Screams echoed in the night far away and too close for comfort. Aria gripped the hilt of her sword till the sun broke through the clouds and dawn raced over the would below her it was now time to find this inn and see what there was to see.
