Part 1
Bells chimed merrily as a hand abandoned the hilt of a sword for a moment to push the door to Teas'n Tomes open. Soft leather boots made little to no noise as the Tiefling wandered in, his horns hidden, put into their defensive position, thus are nowhere to be seen, and his wings tucked away, retracted into his back also unseen. He looked like another high elf, all except for the long and slender tail that flicked and waved through the air behind him in an idle fashion.-
Sae was making her way up the street warily towards the Tea Shop. Her figure was covered in a overly sized jacket and the hood was pulled up over her ears to keep them warm. Green eyes looked worn, beaten, and sorrowful. But even then there was a light smile on her lips, but it was nothing new. Once she was in the warmth and comfort of the shop she turned to ease the door shut softly. Her pointed ears came into view as the hood was removed from her head. For one as simple as she, she was quite the fair young elfess.
Eyes of the most vibrant emerald green gave the room a fleeting glance of subtle curiosity before he walked towards the counter. A soft and pleasant smile graced his lips as he nodded to the woman working the current shift and ordered a simple mug of hot cocoa, he had changed with his travels, his mischievous nature still there, but toned down a great deal, he had taken on a kinder aspect. He turned to watch the new arrival with subtle curiosity. Head tilted as he leaned against the counter waiting for his drink to come to him.
Pale and tattered fingertips brushed through her golden hair before she turned. A wave was given to the woman and then the old grump who she actually got to smile. Then she regarded the man and nodded all the same. A tender smile resided on her lips; brown boots thunked lightly almost silently upon the ground. She shifted to the side and waited for the man's order to finish. Swallowing a bit and patting herself down as she felt for her wallet/ any kind of money she would have came with on her walk from West End to something quaint and... extremely too nice for one such as her.
Vrael wore simple clothes this day, pale breeches; soft leather boots, a white long sleeved tunic tucked into his brown leather belt, his gloves, ring, bracelet, necklace, and that was all. At his hips rested the twin short swords of fine craftsmanship, elegant and curved to a subtle point, his hands were nowhere near the handles of the blades at the moment, as one was handing over a few coins while the other took the newly acquired mug of cocoa, and lifted it to his lips for a small sip.
He nodded in return to the woman, and offered a fleeting and soft smile of his own as he turned and walked out of her way. Soft leather boots moved quietly across the stone ground of the shop as he wandered through it, eyes scanning the rows of books with fleeting interest as he made for the tables.
Hair that resembled pale golden silk was brushed from eyes of emerald as he pulled out a chair and sat himself at a table. His tail curled up and around the legs of the chair to keep it occupied and the mug was lifted to pale and soft lips for another drink, this one a bigger mouthful, still quiet. The mug was then lowered to rest on the table as his eyes scanned the room once more, eventually falling on the other once again.
He studied her in silence for a time, his gaze lingering long enough for him to learn what he could from sight, but not too long as to make it seem odd or uncomfortable for the other party involved. His eyes moved towards the windows and the slush covered streets, empty from the looks of it, so he turned his gaze back to his steaming mug of cocoa and watched the heat rise off of it in thoughtful silence.
Stepping forwards she gave a simple nod to the woman," Just the to-go mug of hot chocolate if you please..." Said to the woman behind the counter with a gentle voice. Soon enough she was holding out a coin to her," Jake says hello..." Sae nodded a bit and she gulped and her eyes lowered.
The woman piped up," So nothing for you then? Just the cup... Geeze." That woman then looked to the coin and she shook her head," Mmm' sorry Sae... That's not enough."
Sae's hand drew back and she bit her lip," I see..." She sighed and shook her head," Then just some hot water will suffice... Appreciate it."
The woman frowned and then nodded all the same as she filled a to-go cup with water and set it out before her," I'm sure it will be nice and warm for the old man. Give him our greetings."
Again Sae made a nod and bit her lip. She scooped up the water and looked around, a bit pink and embarrassed at her misfortune, but still she sucked in a breath and rose up, standing proud. With steps she made towards the door before looking to the man once more, knowing he was watching her. Giving him a nod and swallowing again," Have a fine eve..." She called over her shoulder to the woman and old man before opening the door and pulling up her hood. One foot was soon out of the building and then the other as she started her walk back towards West End.
Ears twitched at the sound of voices, eyes moved from the steam of the cup to the scene before him. Silently he rose from his chair, fingers fishing through his coin pouch quietly. Soft steps made towards the bar and he placed three coins on the counter, more than enough to pay for the mug originally ordered. "The drink she wanted before, one mug of it please." A voice so smooth like soft velvet and satin, a calming breeze that drifted from his lips to waiting ears, controlled but troubled. He took the new drink and walked out after the woman, calling to her. "Excuse me miss, you forgot your drink." A soft lilting voice drifted through the air to her ears, his call could not go unheard, it never did.
Her ears perked and she turned to look at the mug and then to him. Swallowing again she spoke up softly as a pink touched at her cheeks," Thank you sir, but I have no way to repay you..." Answering softly and stepping between inside and outside while she hugged the to-go cup in her arm close to her. Biting her lip her green eyes turned towards the coco and back to the man," It was a kind offer at the same." Giving a weak smile and bowing her head to him in appreciation. Still she stood there for a moment, thinking of what to do or say to the man.
Frail shoulders gave a subtle shrug in response. "You don't have to, whether or not you do or how you do, is up to you." He responded quietly before holding up the cocoa to her.
"Consider it in the spirit of the season if it eases your mind." He said after a moment, his emerald eyes studying her face curiously, many things had changed about the ex-assassin in his recent travels, he had encountered something that had brought about odd acts of kindness such as this, that a few years ago, he would've laughed at doing.
Pale hands reached out and she gratefully took the mug. Swallowing lightly and whispering to him all the same," I do appreciate your kindness sir." She bowed her head to him and then turned. With another nod to the woman she then turned out the door. The woman smiled brightly over to the man and spoke up," That was right kind of you, she usually comes in for two drinks, but guess she was just getting something for her old friend. Sae always is so kind, it's nice to see that something good happened to her." The woman nodded and then went to wiping counters," Tis a shame, she's so brilliant."
"Two drinks?" He turned to watch the woman go for a moment before a casual flick of his wrist brought his cocoa to him and he ordered yet another to-go cup of cocoa. "Thank you, and good night...erm...morning." A soft chuckle, like a harp song almost, and he turned to walk out the door. Soft but quick steps taken after Saelaes then. "Seems you forgot your other drink as well miss." Why was he being so nice? The question came to him suddenly and brought a quick blink, and a mental shrug, he'd think on it later on when he wasn't doing anything else.
Saelaes turned towards the man as he followed and swallowed softly," It's alright... Wouldn't want to be trouble." She shook her head and looked to the hot chocolate," This is just fine. I'm sure Jack will enjoy this." Smiling at the cup for a moment she continued to walk as if she had no care in mind. Soon she was off around a corner, not quite sure if the man was following her or not, just knowing she needed to get this mug to its destination while it was still warm. She bit her lip and sighed while the usual rout was taken to through the streets of Rhy'din, sure that she was going to be there in ten minutes or so if she kept her pace steady. That was sure to be enough time for her and she even had warm water for Jack, she was quite pleased with her trip anyhow.
He followed along still. "I insist go on take it." He held up the proffered cup with a simple nod. "Its really alright, no trouble at all." He remembered his early days outside of his village, days of poverty and he knew very well how this one felt. So it was with a fleeting, kind, and soft smile he held up the mug, waiting for her to take it.
Pausing she looked to the mug and then to him," Seriously then?" She asked while her free hand shoved the hot water in an arm and then reached out to take the coco. Smiling weakly she bowed her head again," That's quite kind of you... I appreciate it." She didn't have time to wait much longer. Her pace quickened to make up for lost time as she spoke," Sorry, but I have to get this where I'm going while it's still warm!" Sae called out a bit franticly, now having full hands she was in quite the pickle until she saw Jack.
"Uhm...would you like some help with all that?" She hadn't wandered too far off just yet so he hadn't moved from his spot. His head tilted at her, and he waited for a response, he considered once again what about his travels had brought about such a drastic change in his temperment, and again he pushed the question aside to save it for later.
He watched her in silence then, awaiting his answer, if one would come at all, hands rested comfortable and idly on the hilts of his twin swords, he was tall and slim, bronzed skin, golden blond hair, and vibrant emerald eyes, he struck a handsome and imposing figure as the rolled up sleeves of his tunic showed the subtle edges of toned and slim muscle.
Once more her feet stopped and she spoke up to him," Well then... Actually I could use some help." She nodded and smiled to him. Holding out the mug he had just given her," I got to grab my bag, I left it in a hiding spot up ahead." Nodding lightly to him before stepping towards the side of an alley way. There was a few markings on the opposing walls," We're in West End... I suppose the company would be nice." She smiled a bit and was soon setting down her two cups for a moment while she started to gather away some rocks and exposing a black backpack. Looping it over her shoulder a moment later she looked around and nodded. Pulling up the mugs and glancing to him," Five minute walk and then I won't keep you from whatever you may have to do this evening. Thank you again."
