Part 1

Bells chimed merrily as a hand abandoned the hilt of a sword for a moment to push the door to Teas'n Tomes open. Soft leather boots made little to no noise as the Tiefling wandered in, his horns hidden, put into their defensive position, thus are nowhere to be seen, and his wings tucked away, retracted into his back also unseen. He looked like another high elf, all except for the long and slender tail that flicked and waved through the air behind him in an idle fashion.-

Sae was making her way up the street warily towards the Tea Shop. Her figure was covered in a overly sized jacket and the hood was pulled up over her ears to keep them warm. Green eyes looked worn, beaten, and sorrowful. But even then there was a light smile on her lips, but it was nothing new. Once she was in the warmth and comfort of the shop she turned to ease the door shut softly. Her pointed ears came into view as the hood was removed from her head. For one as simple as she, she was quite the fair young elfess.

Eyes of the most vibrant emerald green gave the room a fleeting glance of subtle curiosity before he walked towards the counter. A soft and pleasant smile graced his lips as he nodded to the woman working the current shift and ordered a simple mug of hot cocoa, he had changed with his travels, his mischievous nature still there, but toned down a great deal, he had taken on a kinder aspect. He turned to watch the new arrival with subtle curiosity. Head tilted as he leaned against the counter waiting for his drink to come to him.

Pale and tattered fingertips brushed through her golden hair before she turned. A wave was given to the woman and then the old grump who she actually got to smile. Then she regarded the man and nodded all the same. A tender smile resided on her lips; brown boots thunked lightly almost silently upon the ground. She shifted to the side and waited for the man's order to finish. Swallowing a bit and patting herself down as she felt for her wallet/ any kind of money she would have came with on her walk from West End to something quaint and... extremely too nice for one such as her.

Vrael wore simple clothes this day, pale breeches; soft leather boots, a white long sleeved tunic tucked into his brown leather belt, his gloves, ring, bracelet, necklace, and that was all. At his hips rested the twin short swords of fine craftsmanship, elegant and curved to a subtle point, his hands were nowhere near the handles of the blades at the moment, as one was handing over a few coins while the other took the newly acquired mug of cocoa, and lifted it to his lips for a small sip.

He nodded in return to the woman, and offered a fleeting and soft smile of his own as he turned and walked out of her way. Soft leather boots moved quietly across the stone ground of the shop as he wandered through it, eyes scanning the rows of books with fleeting interest as he made for the tables.

Hair that resembled pale golden silk was brushed from eyes of emerald as he pulled out a chair and sat himself at a table. His tail curled up and around the legs of the chair to keep it occupied and the mug was lifted to pale and soft lips for another drink, this one a bigger mouthful, still quiet. The mug was then lowered to rest on the table as his eyes scanned the room once more, eventually falling on the other once again.

He studied her in silence for a time, his gaze lingering long enough for him to learn what he could from sight, but not too long as to make it seem odd or uncomfortable for the other party involved. His eyes moved towards the windows and the slush covered streets, empty from the looks of it, so he turned his gaze back to his steaming mug of cocoa and watched the heat rise off of it in thoughtful silence.

Stepping forwards she gave a simple nod to the woman," Just the to-go mug of hot chocolate if you please..." Said to the woman behind the counter with a gentle voice. Soon enough she was holding out a coin to her," Jake says hello..." Sae nodded a bit and she gulped and her eyes lowered.

The woman piped up," So nothing for you then? Just the cup... Geeze." That woman then looked to the coin and she shook her head," Mmm' sorry Sae... That's not enough."

Sae's hand drew back and she bit her lip," I see..." She sighed and shook her head," Then just some hot water will suffice... Appreciate it."

The woman frowned and then nodded all the same as she filled a to-go cup with water and set it out before her," I'm sure it will be nice and warm for the old man. Give him our greetings."

Again Sae made a nod and bit her lip. She scooped up the water and looked around, a bit pink and embarrassed at her misfortune, but still she sucked in a breath and rose up, standing proud. With steps she made towards the door before looking to the man once more, knowing he was watching her. Giving him a nod and swallowing again," Have a fine eve..." She called over her shoulder to the woman and old man before opening the door and pulling up her hood. One foot was soon out of the building and then the other as she started her walk back towards West End.

Ears twitched at the sound of voices, eyes moved from the steam of the cup to the scene before him. Silently he rose from his chair, fingers fishing through his coin pouch quietly. Soft steps made towards the bar and he placed three coins on the counter, more than enough to pay for the mug originally ordered. "The drink she wanted before, one mug of it please." A voice so smooth like soft velvet and satin, a calming breeze that drifted from his lips to waiting ears, controlled but troubled. He took the new drink and walked out after the woman, calling to her. "Excuse me miss, you forgot your drink." A soft lilting voice drifted through the air to her ears, his call could not go unheard, it never did.

Her ears perked and she turned to look at the mug and then to him. Swallowing again she spoke up softly as a pink touched at her cheeks," Thank you sir, but I have no way to repay you..." Answering softly and stepping between inside and outside while she hugged the to-go cup in her arm close to her. Biting her lip her green eyes turned towards the coco and back to the man," It was a kind offer at the same." Giving a weak smile and bowing her head to him in appreciation. Still she stood there for a moment, thinking of what to do or say to the man.

Frail shoulders gave a subtle shrug in response. "You don't have to, whether or not you do or how you do, is up to you." He responded quietly before holding up the cocoa to her.

"Consider it in the spirit of the season if it eases your mind." He said after a moment, his emerald eyes studying her face curiously, many things had changed about the ex-assassin in his recent travels, he had encountered something that had brought about odd acts of kindness such as this, that a few years ago, he would've laughed at doing.

Pale hands reached out and she gratefully took the mug. Swallowing lightly and whispering to him all the same," I do appreciate your kindness sir." She bowed her head to him and then turned. With another nod to the woman she then turned out the door. The woman smiled brightly over to the man and spoke up," That was right kind of you, she usually comes in for two drinks, but guess she was just getting something for her old friend. Sae always is so kind, it's nice to see that something good happened to her." The woman nodded and then went to wiping counters," Tis a shame, she's so brilliant."

"Two drinks?" He turned to watch the woman go for a moment before a casual flick of his wrist brought his cocoa to him and he ordered yet another to-go cup of cocoa. "Thank you, and good night...erm...morning." A soft chuckle, like a harp song almost, and he turned to walk out the door. Soft but quick steps taken after Saelaes then. "Seems you forgot your other drink as well miss." Why was he being so nice? The question came to him suddenly and brought a quick blink, and a mental shrug, he'd think on it later on when he wasn't doing anything else.

Saelaes turned towards the man as he followed and swallowed softly," It's alright... Wouldn't want to be trouble." She shook her head and looked to the hot chocolate," This is just fine. I'm sure Jack will enjoy this." Smiling at the cup for a moment she continued to walk as if she had no care in mind. Soon she was off around a corner, not quite sure if the man was following her or not, just knowing she needed to get this mug to its destination while it was still warm. She bit her lip and sighed while the usual rout was taken to through the streets of Rhy'din, sure that she was going to be there in ten minutes or so if she kept her pace steady. That was sure to be enough time for her and she even had warm water for Jack, she was quite pleased with her trip anyhow.

He followed along still. "I insist go on take it." He held up the proffered cup with a simple nod. "Its really alright, no trouble at all." He remembered his early days outside of his village, days of poverty and he knew very well how this one felt. So it was with a fleeting, kind, and soft smile he held up the mug, waiting for her to take it.

Pausing she looked to the mug and then to him," Seriously then?" She asked while her free hand shoved the hot water in an arm and then reached out to take the coco. Smiling weakly she bowed her head again," That's quite kind of you... I appreciate it." She didn't have time to wait much longer. Her pace quickened to make up for lost time as she spoke," Sorry, but I have to get this where I'm going while it's still warm!" Sae called out a bit franticly, now having full hands she was in quite the pickle until she saw Jack.

"Uhm...would you like some help with all that?" She hadn't wandered too far off just yet so he hadn't moved from his spot. His head tilted at her, and he waited for a response, he considered once again what about his travels had brought about such a drastic change in his temperment, and again he pushed the question aside to save it for later.

He watched her in silence then, awaiting his answer, if one would come at all, hands rested comfortable and idly on the hilts of his twin swords, he was tall and slim, bronzed skin, golden blond hair, and vibrant emerald eyes, he struck a handsome and imposing figure as the rolled up sleeves of his tunic showed the subtle edges of toned and slim muscle.

Once more her feet stopped and she spoke up to him," Well then... Actually I could use some help." She nodded and smiled to him. Holding out the mug he had just given her," I got to grab my bag, I left it in a hiding spot up ahead." Nodding lightly to him before stepping towards the side of an alley way. There was a few markings on the opposing walls," We're in West End... I suppose the company would be nice." She smiled a bit and was soon setting down her two cups for a moment while she started to gather away some rocks and exposing a black backpack. Looping it over her shoulder a moment later she looked around and nodded. Pulling up the mugs and glancing to him," Five minute walk and then I won't keep you from whatever you may have to do this evening. Thank you again."

He held the mug and nodded to her. "I have no plans for the evening so don't worry about that, I've only recently returned to Rhy'Din, all my previous duties and friends have all but vanished." A subtle shrug of deceivingly frail shoulders then. "West End...a place I used to frequent quite often in my last visit to the city." He nodded then. "Where are we heading?" His soft and delicate voice inquired of her as his eyes turned back towards her and he nodded. "Oh, by the way, I am Vrael." A slight bow of his head in greeting.

"Saelaes..." She said as she nodded," I'm Saelaes or Sae... makes no difference." Still walking she was soon turning around another corner and for once onto a main street. Her smile grew a bit as she whispered," Well, we're heading to an apartment building that I live in. It's not the greatest thing, but Jack lives next to it and I can't help but be overly nice... Some people say I'm too nice for the questionable living conditions.." Her head had been turned down at that point and she called out to him," Watch your step... Rat corpse." Said as she skirted to the side and soon turned down the corner of the street slowly, giving the girl there a wide birth.

He nodded to her as he followed along quietly, side stepping the dead rat and paying the woman there no attention. "Pleased to make your acquaintance miss Saelaes." He blinked 'miss'? He had been using that term often as of late, another odd change in his demeanor since his last visit. Another mental shrug, all details to be looked over later on, he returned his mind the task at hand.

Soon she was stopping at the edge of the street and looking over it carefully. Biting her lip for a moment she leaned her head to the side curiously. Looking over the side of it she soon saw an old man sitting down by a barrel on fire. His hands were reaching out towards the fire a bit shakily.

Before long enough she was starting off towards him until she was standing before the old man and holding out both of her mugs with a smile. She wasn't sure how close Vrael was but she was speaking softly," How are you feeling today Jack? I got you some food and medicine to help your cold."

The old man was smiling to her and nodding all the same," Thank you Sae... Right wonderful of you to get me water and coco... I tell you over and over this is not needed, you already do so much for me, and the ten dollars you left me was more than kind." Bowing his head and then blinking as she pulled out a bag of food and then a paper bag.

" Now then... This is to be taken," Sae spoke up as if she hadn't heard him on her over doing it," Three times a day, one pill at a time. Don't lose it and please take it all." She shook her head," No need to say more, just stay warm tonight. I hope you got my blanket."

The old man nodded and sighed," You're quite kind Sae... Thank you and bless you."

Sae shook her head and smiled to the old man before blinking back to Vrael," I shall see you later Jack." She was pink at the cheeks.

He walked to stand next to them, looking at them thoughtfully. He reached into his coin pouch yet again and withdrew one, two, three, four, five gold coins, the equivalent to fifty dollars and set them before the man. "Its all I have with me at the time, else I'd give you more, but the bank is close now so...please accept this." He nodded to the man and looked back over at Saelaes, his face blank, and his mind racing, why had he done that? What was wrong with him? What had made him act as he had been this day? Another mental shrug all these questions were bothering him, he'd assess them later on.

Her hands reached out for her mug as she spoke," This would be my stop, but thank you for walking with me." Jack was actually staring at Vrael as the coins rested in his hand. He didn't know what to say. Sae shifted to tug her bag over her shoulder and she bit her lip," Thank you for all you've done... It was wonderful of you and I could never repay you for any of this." Shaking her head and sipping at the coco in her hand. Shifting a bit she murmured to him for a moment," If you ever need any kind of help please tell me... You know where to find me, Jack won't steer you wrong after what you just did."

He blinked, still shocked at himself for his very odd change of character then shook his head. "Rest assured I need nor do I want, any form of repayment." What was wrong with him? Why? Why was he being so...unlike him? Sure he wasn't mean before leaving, but he had never ever done something like this. "I suppose this is good night then yes? Or...good morning if you will." A soft chuckle, another sounding harp song.

"Good morning Vrael." Almost like a musical chorus from her lips before she added," Is there any reason why you'd like me to stay?" She asked as she blushed again. That wasn't like her at all, usually she didn't do this either. She was fidgeting while she watched and studied the man before her. To the Elfess he was quite interesting.

"There is yes." He nodded slowly. "But I am far more tired than I had thought, and sadly enough, must retire to bed for the remainder of the dark hours of the day." He nodded, a hand slipped into his pocket, and withdrew a small pad of paper, and a pen, he scribbled something down and then pulled the piece of paper off, and handed it over, tucking the rest back into his pockets. "That?s my address, stop by and see me sometime won't you? Anytime will do." He nodded again, hands lowered to rest on the hilts of his swords once more, a comfortable and idle gesture. "It was a pleasure meeting you and I look forward to doing so again." A hand extended to shake then.

Sae glanced over the paper in her hand before swallowing. She nodded and placed it in her jacket pocket while her hand extended out to his," It was a pleasure to meet you as well Vrael... I shall be sure to see you sometime soon. You'll find that I'm actually quite predictable." Said with a blush while she shook his hand softly. Biting her lip she drew a step back as oddly enough Jack was watching the entire display. Jack spoke up again," Keep him Sae!" The old man did know how to make her bright red in the wink of an eye.

He cast a glance at Jack, a blink as his emerald eyes slowly turned back to Saelaes head tilted for a moment, he had caught on quickly of course, but he wouldn't comment on it. "Well, good morning or night to you, depending on how you look at it, rest well." A nod, to both her and Jack. "And I hope you get better soon." He said to Jack before giving another nod to Saelaes and starting off in the direction they had come from.

She nodded to Vrael and smiled a bit more than usual. Turning she moved towards the entrance of the apartments. The old man waved to Vrael as Sae disappeared inside and up stairs to her room. Soon enough she was in bed and resting. Dreaming off into the night and even some during the day. She was exhausted and finally she had a few days off to relax.

Part 2

Vrael was wandering about his large palace like home, old Victorian in style, a mansion that seemed fitting for a king. Amazing, extravagant, lavish and rich. Golden turrets of stone dot the roof, walls made of white marble with red velvet tapestries and golden railings along the steps. A huge building to be sure, far more expensive than any other dwelling on the street, or near any of the streets for quite some time, this was the home of Vrael, this was his domain.

Sae had already given her morning donation to Jack but she didn't really think he needed it, he was still cradling the gold pieces from last night. She was peering at the paper and then looking up at the Victorian Palace in awe. Blinking a few times and then looking down at the paper once more. Gulping for a moment she thought about turning around and high tailing her West End scruff away from such a nice place, but she did say she'd see Vrael again. Sighing she started down the walk until she was at the door. Her hand rose up and soon enough the knock came upon it. Now she was just waiting for an answer and if someone named Jeeves answered the door, she was going to make a break for it. She had never been around this much... Wealth.

No one named Jeeves, just Vrael, he opened the door, blinking at first, he hadn't been expecting company, then a smile graced his lips and he nodded. "Afternoon Saelaes, welcome." He stepped back, holding the door open, and motioned for her to enter. "I didn't think I'd see you so soon, it's a pleasure." His soft lilting voice spoke truthfully, but he was still quite troubled and such.

Soon enough Saelaes was stepping in the house slowly and swallowing in the process," Thank you Vrael... It's great to see you." Smiling to him softly as she looked around from wall to wall. She wasn't in much different clothes than the night before, she was still in those jeans and that overly sized coat. As per usual she looked like she could use days of sleep to make up for the sleep she had lost, but that was alright, she seemed used to losing sleep here and there," If you would like I could leave and come back tomorrow to give you a longer break from seeing me..?" She suggested, somewhat overwhelmed by how wonderfully nice Vrael's house was.

He chuckled softly, a delicate harp song issued from velvet lips. "No it's alright trust me, a welcome sight indeed." He nodded and closed the door behind him. "I seldom have company, and even less often pleasant company so your presence is welcome." He nodded and his moved towards a hallway, his bare feet sliding smoothly across the marble floor. "Care for a drink?" He asked over his shoulder as his tail trailed through the air behind him in an idle fashion. Emerald eyes inspected her as he awaited her answer.

Hands moved up to lower her hood and brush through her hair. Sae glanced over to him and reached down to pull off her boots. Once those were free she set them by the door and shifted about on black socks, her eyes turning on him while she thought," I suppose, sure.." She said as she chewed on her bottom lip, knowing he was inspecting her again. She straightened her jeans and shifted on her feet a bit until she was following after him with mindful steps, she didn't want to break a thing.
He led her through a long twisting hallway, many turns and such, through a few doors, and came upon a personal bar he had, fully stocked, small within a relatively large room that had a hearth, a piano, violin, cello, and a few other instruments, as well as several large and comfortable chairs, and tables. He slipped behind the bar and rummaged around for a drink. "What would you like?" He inquired of her over his shoulder, casting a glance her way, normally he would never just allow people to enter his home, but something had changed about him as of late, a change that he had yet to discern the source of, it was an odd thing, an odd feeling was brought about. He liked her though, so he supposed it was alright for the moment.

Swallowing for a moment she looked at the room in extreme awe. Her eyes popped open wide for a moment before she gulped lightly. Her fingers brushed over her skirt and she was soon glancing over the bar with amazement. She couldn?t hold herself back she spoke up with a slightly excited voice," This place is amazing!" When he asked her about a drink she swallowed lightly," Can you make hot chocolate?" She asked as she started towards the bar and sat down on one of the stools. She was still taking in the amazing palace he lived in with awe and astonishment.

"Thank you." He said with a quiet chuckle. "It was made by a very powerful mage, I can take it whever I wish." He nodded. "Sure." He went about preparing hot chocolate then and turned to lean forward on the bar in front of her, elbows propping him up and hands together in front of him. "So how's your day been going?" He asked casually, making simple conversation while he waited. His tail flicked and arched up to keep it from knocking bottles and such over.

Swallowing for a moment and shifting she spoke up lightly," I guess it's been alright... I just have been making my errands... My boss called and asked me to stop in for a few hours so I just got off from there about two hours ago. But then again he always calls me in." She shrugged and then realized she was ranting. Clearing her throat she stopped and brushed at her jeans. She bit at her lip as she looked around again. Then she blinked and leaned her head to the side for a moment when she saw his tail, but she didn't ask all she did was speak," Umm... How's your day been..?"

"Well enough." He nodded, he watched her curious look towards his tail and glanced over his shoulder at it, then back at her. Another smile then and he came from his lean, turning back to the cocoa, and filling her a nice warm mug of the drink, before setting it back on the bar in front of her. "There you go." He resumed his lean, his tail snaked down towards a bottle behind him, and wrapped around it. Then lifted the bottle and dropped it into his waiting hands. The cork was tugged out and tossed to the trash and the bottle was lifted to his lips for a long drink.

Smiling at the feet of his tail and giggling lightly. Her hands moved to the mug and she placed it to her lips a moment later, giving it a light sip. Smiling for a moment she murmured," This place is incredible." Admiring the piano for a moment from a distance. She sipped once more at her mug before turning to look at him," I can't thank you enough for what you did last night for Jack, he's been staring at the gold pieces all morning." Giggling lightly and nodding," He keeps saying he's going to buy me something nice with it because I deserve it. But I've told him not to, he needs it more than me."

"You tell him not to worry about buying you anything nice, I'll get that taken care of no problem." A soft smile and a nod at that, another drink taken, this one smaller as he regarded her from over the bottom of the bottle. "How is he?"
Sae blushed as he said he was going to take care of it. Shaking her head she murmured," I'm fine really... I don't need much of anything." But that didn't keep her from turning a brilliant shade of red. Swallowing softly she sighed," Jack has been on the streets since I came here, but he's been doing better than when I found him... Which is good."

Mentally, he berated himself for this next offer. "How do you think he'd like to have an apartment of his own? I could hire him to work with me in my smithy, a part time job, a good one, well paying, and with many benefits, after he gets better of course." He nodded. "And you, do you like dresses? Or what sort of jewelry would you like?"

Eyes went wide while she listened to him speak of doing so much for Jack," I... I..." Then he asked about her preferences and nearly fell from her stool. She set down the mug before she started to shake too much. Her throat was cleared again and she spoke," Jack would be best to ask for that question... As far as me..." She smiled to him even though she was blushing so brightly she could have been mistaken for Rudolph," You really don't need to do something that wonderful for me."

"If what I've been told is true, then I believe I do have to, from what I hear you're more than deserving." He nodded. "So which is it? A dress or jewelry? And what kind?" A kind smile given before another sip of his drink, again wondering what had come over the once withdrawn and less than friendly man.

She gulped a bit and sighed lightly," I don't really wear either... I wouldn't know the first thing about them both." She said with honesty as she brushed her fingers over her jeans. Sae was wriggling her toes a bit and fidgeting with the handle of the cup. Soon enough she was lifting it for another sip.

Another sip and the bottle was dropped in the trash with a dull clunk. Emerald eyes turned back up to her and another smile was offered. "Then we'll just have to go and look around won't we?" Head tilted to the side he thought of Fae just then, a pang of guilt struck him, but that didn't show. She was gone, nowhere to be seen, he should move on, how could she expect him not to? The thoughts pushed aside for another time as he awaited her answer.

Still blushing she surrendered with a nod," Alright if you insist..." She bit her lip as her own jade eyes looked back into his own. Sae finished her cup and folded one leg over the other as she took one more look at the piano," Can I?" She gestured to it curiously. Sucking in a breath she smiled to him hopefully.

?Hmm...?" He asked with a blink then he followed her gesture to the piano, and nodded. "Have at it." A hand gestured for her to go and give it a try. He watched her curiously then, waiting to see what she would do and play.

Sae slid from the stool without another word. Her figure slid forwards and soon enough she was lifting the lid of the piano. Her fingers touched a few of the keys with a feather touch while she admired their workings. Once center C was found she sat down and placed her fingers over the keys that were proper for the chord. Without further warning she started to play a melody of her own, it was soft like a dance and genuinely soothing.

He slipped from behind the bar and approached with soft and smooth steps. Head tilted as he regarded her and listened, he stopped a short distance away from her, emerald eyes locked onto her. His tail flicked and swayed like that of a restless cats, and a hand nervously brushed golden blond hair from his eyes, what had caused such a change in him? He asked himself again, and definitely not for the last time.

Saelaes

A intricate dance glide over the keys slowly as she played. Her eyes glancing at the keys all the same and then to him while she played. The melody was gentle and soft still, almost like she was. It was filled with grace and determination before she turned to thoughts. Her mind raced towards Jack in a place of his own, healthy, and happy and she played a hopeful tune. She hoped that Jack would take the offer. Swallowing softly she listened to the melody as her eyes shut. The tune being a bit quick in pace than normal. Her golden hair bounced as she shifted, swayed as her arms moved. Even as the keys made a tune come to life it looked as if her figure was dancing with her motions.

Soft steps were taken past her then, and he took up the violin that rested in a stand, then a bow. He positioned it under his neck, against his collar, and brought the bow to the strings, slowly at first he played, adding a soft background to her tune. Then he quickened the pace, playing a harmony that went along with hers perfectly, a subtle background sound that he came up with on the top of his head as his fingers danced up and down the neck.

Smiling when she heard the violin she soon felt the tune slow and graze to a stop. Her head turned to watch him play a soft gaze in her eyes. His work was so beautiful that she gave a light sob. Hands moved to her eyes and she wiped them as she listened. She loved music, loved the simple things. It almost made her sorry to be where she was in life. Working with food instead of following her dreams had almost made her heart shatter when she first started, but she needed to have a living.
He slowed to a stop letting the final note ring on and he replaced the violin on its stand, turning back to her with a soft smile. "You play quite well." He nodded as he walked away from his instrument and towards her, stopping a short distance off. "Care to go pick out your dress or jewelry now?"

She nodded lightly and bit her lip," Thank you... you play so wonderfully." Sniffling softly she stood up as she cleared her throat. Standing up she lowered the lid of the piano carefully and brushed off the roof of the lid. Stepping back she pushed in the bench and even handled that with care.

He watched her for a moment, then gestured to the hallway. "Ready then?" He asked as slow steps were taken towards it, his head tilted to regard her and wait for her response. One might notice that he didn't have his weapons on him right now.

Sae was soon following after him while nodding," Ready." She made her way to the door as she noticed no weapon and started to slip on her boots. Her hair fell in her face and she used a finger to tuck it behind her ear. She swallowed softly and turned back to glance at him with a smile.

"Excuse me for one moment, my boots are in my room." He walked to a small platform made of black marble, runes lit up on the surface and he was gone for a few minutes. The platfrom lit up again and he reappeared wearing his boots, and having his twin swords strapped to his sides. He walked towards the door a hand resting comfortably, and idly on the hilt of one sword while his arm was offered for her to loop hers through. "Shall we then?"

When he returned she was staring at the black marble. Gulping for a moment she turned her head back up to him and nodded lightly. Hand pulling over the hood on her head and a smile on her lips," Ready.." She then turned as she started to smile brightly. She was having such a wonderful time already with him.

He opened the door and led her out of his home then, and into the cold streets of the market, a nod to her, and he glanced left and right with intense scrutiny, then headed off for the center of the market and its most prominent shops and such.

Careful steps led her in a close follow. She looked over her shoulder and then around the area as a while. Keeping close to Vrael as she whispered," I always feel like someone is watching me when I walk alone... And... I still feel like I am." She nodded lightly to him and gulped a bit.

He led her down the street, his tail trailing casually behind him, soft leather boots making little to no noise. He glanced at her and quirked a brow. "What do you mean?" He looked around then as they neared a large jewelry shop.

Shrugging she whispered," I mean... I've been followed before by random guys, but I always feel like there's this wanting eye on me." She said honestly while she looked about again. There was nothing in sight while she turned to look at the shop. Like that a shadow appeared at her feet and with a scream she was sucked away within the blink of an eye.

Sae had a bag over her head, ankles tied to a chair and arms tied behind her back. She was listening as quietly as she could to the area around her, but even then she wasn't quite sure where she was. The truth of the mater was she had passed out when she was taken. Jack had warned her that a shadow was hanging over her, she should have listened...

Once she was away from those few that would protect her and in a new location that's when the Shadow struck. She heard boot steps thunk behind her as a man paced behind her back. From the echo of the steps she could tell faintly that they were in some kind of ware house near the end of west End.

The hissy voice of the man came which reminded her she could scream out, but the feel of fabric against her mouth and around her face showed all too well that she would have no such chance. So, Sae would have to pay attention to the words being said around her," .... and she's slim, even lanky a bit, but it's nothing a bit of food will change if you like them looking like little piggies. I don't do refunds either. She comes as is and I'm pretty sure this b'tch is a vergin." A dark set of snickers came from the man and the lingering shadows around them.

She swallowed softly and tried to wriggle in her binds. The voice came again," I provide one dress of your choice, a collar, and micro chip locator I'll implant before the merchandise is delivered. She will not be broken if you so wish it, but she'll be presentable." Sae suddenly realized that there was more to this than met her ears... She was being sold, as a pet.

He had tracked the kidnappers silently, his armor was now worn light and pale. He made no sound as he crept through the shadows, movements like acats, his horns had come up then, his wings had sprouted, he was perched in the rafters, hands on the hilts of his twin swords, green eyes ablaze with fury. He listened for a moment, scanned, judged, waited, and would soon punish...

He was silent and unseen in his movements, keen eyes picking up every little detail with intense scrutiny. His blades were silently drawn, the metal reflected no light, part of their enchantments. He slid a bit further down the rafters, and then silently dropped to land behind the speaking man, driving one blade for his throat, the other for his lower back in a two point thrust.

The man had pulled back from the blade than the other even after the wound was struck. Turning into a dance of smoldering black smoke he reappeared a bit of a distance away. His eyes glanced to him while he bowed. Then he looked over the space of the ware house that they were in, a smirk forked on his lips as he rubbed at his neck," You know... I could have your head for breaking into my location, but I'd rather much give you a job... Impressive." He smirked and dipped his phone into the breast of his suit," Why are you here in the first place hmm?" The demon continued to smirk as he folded his arms. He was not about to tell a man there to kill him, just how to do his job. Digging Vrael's blade through his heart may have done the trick, but not a blade to the neck and the back. He was a full on abyssal demon after all.

"Which plain of the Abyss to you hail from? So that I may send that heart of yours to the rest of the beasts there..." Ankles bound in enchanted bracers that made him all the faster worked then, he rushed the side, his speed fast, even compared to that of a demons, his movements smooth as he conjured a globe of impenetrable darkness over the demon, no light could shine through, it was unnatural darkness. He dove through, blades working in a frenzy of light cuts, and slashes, then one stab for the heart, the second for the lung, if connected, he'd slice up and out, if not he'd moved back and drop to the defensive stance.

The man chuckled as he was asked where exactly he was from. Seeing the speed in the boy he almost stumbled back. Again he tried to fall back in a blaze of smoke, but he wasn't fast enough," By the fires!" He howled out as his lung and then his heart was struck. His eyes went wide when he realized his demise was coming. Slowly his gaze turned towards Saelaes and the shadows started to charge towards her. Ordered by their lord and master while he began to fade from existence. As the shadows started to dance and creep up her leg she screamed out. The demon laughed and said his final words," In death I send her to her own... For if I can't have her... No one... Will..."

Blade tossed in the air, a hand extended and he shouted an incantation. "Jhol!" And a holy magical white light shot from his hands, lighting the room in a bright flash of golden white. Shadows such as the demons would in most cases, be destroyed by the holy magic of the light spell, then he caught the blade and rushed to Saelaes' side, even as the light spell went on.

Being inside a Warehouse was starting to give her the creeps. Since she didn't really know what was going on but as she felt the shadows receded she whimpered and tried to kick herself free from the binds around her legs. She was tugging frantically and screaming out, thinking even more so that she was going to die at the hands of a demon or perhaps two. He was talking to someone after all. Whimpering lightly she tugged and pulled at the binds once more her level of panic rising.

He removed the covering on her face, a sword having been sheathed and he cut the bindings loose, even as he did, his horns went back in, his wings retracted and he resumed his usual guise. "Are you alright?" The soft lilting voice drifted through the air towards waiting ears, delicate like a harp-song.

Shaking hands she pulled down her binds at her mouth. Sniffling a bit she looked up at Vrael as she spoke," What... What... What happened?" Still shaking she went to rub at her legs and look around.

Saelaes

Slowly moving her eyes over the area before she screamed out to the sight of the dead man coating the floor with black abyssal blood. Jumping back she started to sob out a bit while her eyes looked to Vrael fearfully.

He sheathed his other blade and glanced at the body. "Shalor." He said with a twist of fingers and the body disintegrated. Then his emerald eyes turned to Saelaes. "You were kidnapped, by that demon." He said with a simple nod, his voice still soft and calming. "Were you hurt?"

A light sob left her lips and she shook her head," No... N... No... I'm not hurt." She tried to smile, but it wasn't working all that well. Sucking in a breath for a moment she started to feel a bit dizzy. Her body trembled lightly and she looked at him worriedly," Kidnapped?" She was turning green.

He reached out to steady her, then guided her towards the door, it was best they left this dark place. "Yes, kidnapped." He nodded as he led her out, once onto the streets he released her and waited for whatever was to come.

Swallowing a bit she whimpered lightly. Her eyes were shaking and she turned to gaze at him curiously," You saved me... why?" She asked as she tugged the hood over her head to keep her ears away from the cold.

Rather than answer the question, he led her away from the warehouse and back towards the large jewelry shop they were about to visit earlier. He ushered her inside and closed the door quietly behind them. "Because..." He said after a time, a vague response to a question he had no full answer to yet.

Biting her lip she just continued to look at him while sucking in a soft breath. Her eyes went over the jewelry shop and then back at him curiously," Because?" She asked as she moved to a chair and sat down before she shook herself to death. Soon enough she was looking back over the shop with growing curiosity.

He shrugged. "Because, I couldn't let them just do what they ere going to do, its not right." He said simply as he took up a lean against a wall, his tail flicked about and wrapped around one of his legs then, he watched the store with intense scrutiny.

"Oh... I see..." She nodded softly and whispered to him curiously," Thank you for your help." Sitting up she looked over the jewelry and gulped," Still determined to buy me something?" She asked as she started towards a counter. She looked over it calmly and drew in a soft breath.

A nod. "Welcome, and yes." He watched her look over the jewelry in silence, waiting for her to pick something out, hands resting idly on the hilts of his swords, ready for the worst to happen. His eyes scanned the inn constantly, looking for the faintest hint of trouble.

But there was no trouble and Sae was taking in each with great interest. However she was scared. Afraid of getting something that she didn't deserve. Lowering her hood she turned her head, gazing at him as she whispered," Why are you so nice to me?" Curiosity was getting the better of her at this point.

He shrugged. "I'm not sure of that myself just yet. I suppose I think you deserve it, and from what I hear, I'm right." He nodded then, and went silent he motioned for her to continue her browsing.

Why was he being so nice? He didn't really know yet, but at the moment that didn't seem to really matter, so a reassuring nod as he continued his thorough scan of the store and the streets outside of it, doing his best not to look at her, he felt odd when he did so.

She stopped browsing and stepped back. Her head lowered and Sae sighed as she thought over his words," I don't think I deserve a thing. I just try to make the world a better place where I can. I help Jack because he has no one.." Shaking her head she whispered as her jade orbs glanced to him," Please don't feel like you need to buy things for me. I'm happy as I am... But I still want you to ask Jack if he would like to do your idea. He's a great man and he needs it."

He nodded. "I'll ask him..." Then in response to the first statement. "You help Jack because he has no one, from the looks of it, neither do you, so allow me to do for you, what you do for him." A nod then. "Whether or not you think you deserve it, you pick something out."

Blinking at the toss of words she peered at him a bit, but she was smiling," That's not fair..." She said to his justification while her had turned back to the jewelry. Soon enough she was sighing and pointing to a golden locket that looked not like a heart but like a butterfly," I like that one."

He nodded and caught the clerks attention, motioning to it, and then the clerk handed it over for closer inspection. Vrael turned to over to Sae and held it out. "This one?" He asked to confirm.

Looking at the necklace she whispered," That's the one." She said with a smile on her lips. Stepping back for a moment and biting her lip she started to blush," It looks so nice... I... I just don't know..."

He nodded and handed over some gold coins, then gave the necklace to Saelaes. "There you go, its yours now." He nodded and then walked towards the door. He held it open and waited for her to follow him out.

Still she lingered at her spot and looking over the necklace. Trailing her fingers over the golden form she swallowed and looped her fingers around it. Her eyes turned up to Vrael before tucking the necklace securely around her neck. With careful steps she walked towards the door and him. Passing by she paused to look in his eyes," Thank you for everything you've done..." Then she kissed his cheek before walking out of the jewelry store.

He blinked and turned to watch her walk out, then he followed. "Its no problem at all." He responded a bit stunned by such a simple gesture. Hands dropped to rest on his weapons again as they walked away from the shop, blinking, mind racing, tail flicking.

"What are we doing now?" She asked as she looked back to him. Her hand was at her jacket where the necklace rested, obviously grazing at it through the fabric. Biting her lip softly and keeping silent she waited for his answer while she paused in her steps.

"I don't really know." He answered honestly with a shrug, when she paused so did he. Eyes turned to her. "Where would you like to go?" Golden haired head tilted with his inquiry, silent and awaiting an answer.

"Well... If you want..." She paused and brushed at her jacket," I could make dinner for you." Nodding lightly as she brought her fingers over the bit of her neck. She liked her necklace more than she as showing. It was a new treasured item she'd never let leave her side.

"I'd like that." He nodded flashing her a quick smile of ivory white teeth before turning to lead the way back to his home. Through the streets, almost silent, his tail trailing behind him, he struck an intimidating figure with his lean toned muscle, and over average height.

Sae was staring at his tail again! It was so interesting and she was growing more and more curious by the moment. She wanted to touch it, but for now she was being good. Keeping up with him, but only a step or two behind him. She swallowed lightly and turned her eyes over his figure, studying him the best she could and for once finding it hard to pull her eyes away.

His armor was odd, it did not cover him fully, it was made for flexibility, and he wore no shirt under his bare chested torso. Parts of his back were visible, rippling shoulder blades and finely toned muscle, sun bronzed in color. His chest was of slim and well toned muscle as well, fully visible as the armor on his torso covered mostly his sides and back. His tail twitched about again and again, like a restless animal as he led the way.

Sae kept silent as she observed him, unable to keep herself from staring even more. Chewing on her lip lightly she looked up at the house when it came into view. A smile grew on her lips and she folded her arms in front of her, rubbing her arms as she shivered a bit.

He opened the door and motioned for her to enter the warmth of his home, when she did, he'd follow her in. He then led her to the kitchen, it was large, and well stocked, a bow of his head. "Excuse me for one moment..." He slipped out and returned to his room to change out of his armor.

Sae nodded and pulled off her jacket. Her black tank top and jeans were ruffled and shaggy, but they amplified her figure. She pulled out a few things and went to cooking while he slipped away. Shockingly enough she was good at cooking, making every moment worth while and giving a fresh and delicious scent to fill up the area. Soon enough she had meat sizzling on the stove and water boiling. She was even mixing a bit of bread and placing it in the oven.

He returned a bit later wearing black breeches, black boots, a black belt, and a white button down with a brown leather vest over it. His sleeves rolled up halfway, and he was busy buttoning the shirt up to his chest as he walked in. "Smells good, what're you making?"

Catching a glance of his chest and sucked in a light breath. Biting her lip for a moment she then spoke up lightly," Steak.." She said as she smiled to him," Potatoes... Carrots... And sweet bread." She said softly and went to flip over the meat. Humming a bit and reaching to rub her arm softly.

He nodded and finished buttoning his shirt, then his vest was left alone. "Sounds great." He moved to sit in a hair, the back between his legs, arms over the back and chin resting on them as his vibrant eyes watched her work in silence.

Soon she was making a mashed potatoes and mixing things here and there. Eventually she was setting a plate of potatoes, corn, steak along with a few slices of bread. Red wine filled a glass and she set that down too before him before setting down her own plate and glass of water.

He tilted his head at her water. "Don't you want something else to drink?" Asked as he turned his chair to sit normally at the table, watching her curiously. "This looks great by the way, thank you." He nodded and flashed a smile.

"I don't usually drink liquor or anything intoxicating..." Nodding to him with a soft smile," Besides Water is healthy and cheap... So it's fine." She then blushed and brushed golden strands from her face," Thank you."

He shrugged. "Suit yourself." And then he lifted his fork and knife to cut into the food, eating quietly and flashing her another smile. "Very good." He nodded. "Thanks again. Its not often I get a proper meal." He was a god awful cook.

Smiling to him she whispered," I love cooking." Saying as she started to make some progress with some of her food. Eating in silence and smiling as she watched him eat.

He loved her cooking, it was official, and he wolfed it down quickly, but not messily. After he was finished he lifted his plate and walked to the sink to clean it off, glancing back at her every so often.

She was taking her time to savor every bite she could, after all it was not often she had a meal to eat that was home cooked. Once she was done she sipped at her water for a moment and stood, taking her plate over to the sink to wash.

He took the plate from her and washed it off, then dried his hands, turning back to her and casting another smile. "Thank you, that was delicious." He nodded. "Now what would you like to do?"

"It's your turn to pick." She said with a smile, moving to tidy up the table and everything else in the kitchen while he thought.

He shrugged. "I'm not good at such things, I rarely talk to people, much less often attractive women, I don't even know where to start when it comes to thinking of something to do." A helpless sigh and a soft chuckle. "I'm hopeless sometimes."

She nearly dropped the pan as he said attractive. Her eyes turned to him and she blinked a bit," Attractive?" She asked as she continued her work. a giggle on her lips," You're not hopeless... You saved me when you didn't have to."

"I'm hopeless in my own way." A shrug then, a smile flashed at her giggle, a delightful sound that was like music to his ears.

"How?" She asked as she dried a dish with a towel. Her form going to lean up against the counter as she smiled back to him.

Another shrug then. "I'm socially inept. I lack the initiative to make friends, to talk to people and I feel very nervous when talking, even now I am feeling so." He nodded as he confessed his social ineptness.

Bliking a bit she nodded and murmured," I'm nervous too... I've never been around someone as stunning as you or as kind as you've been to me."

Blink, stunning, turn of his gaze to her a sheepish smile offered. "Guess we'll just have to get around it eh?"

Again she giggled and nodded softly. Her form turning to put away the dish as she chimed," Guess so."

When that was over and done with he led her out of the kitchen and towards a large study, rows upon rows of books lined the walls, chairs set around at random intevals, a warm blazing hearth, and a large desk near it, he sat down in a chair near the hearth and motioned for her to do the same.

Soon she was settled in the chair opposite him and looking at the books with wide eyes. She was amazed that he had such grand things. Her figure turned and she glanced back to him, her smile grew as she spoke up," This is so amazing... How many books do you have here?"

He shrugged. "Tons. I have no actual idea, I've just about read them all." He glanced around and shrugged again. "This is my study, although I rarely come here anymore."

Then a sudden change of topic, random question said before he could think on it. "Tell me Saelaes, do you have a boyfriend? Or mate, or lover, or whatever it is you want to call it?" Blink blink, mouth clamped shut then, had he really asked that?

"But this is a wonderful room. Three times as big as my apartment at least..." Swallowing she looked over again and murmured," More like five times... This has such great lighting to..." Sae was sighing with awe as she leaned back in her spot.

Had she heard that right. It took her a few moments to process it before she murmured," No... No boyfriend, mate, lover or whatever... I'm alone, figured you'd guess that by now." She was bright red! Nervous was out of the question by now she was petrified. Why had he asked that?

A slow nod, words choked out he couldn't believe the bluntness of that question. "I see...Sorry that was...uncalled for." A bow of his head in apology and his eyes quickly averted from hers to watch the fire that seemed to be utterly fascinating.

Sae nodded again and found herself looking back to the fire," No... It wasn't... I suppose." She said as she continued to stare at the fire and shift a bit. She was nervous, her heart was racing, and for some reason she wanted to stare at him again.

At some point in time he had found himself on his feet, something that he had yet to register as he continued to stare at the fire, trying not to turn his gaze that so wished to be turned, upon her.

Soon enough she too was standing as she turned to glance at the books. Swallowing she asked," What about you? Do you have a girlfriend, mate, lover, or whatever?" Tugging at her tank top a bit.

He was oh so nervous, embarrassed by his blunt question, his gaze darted to her for a moment and remained there. "No." A subtle shake of his head he thought of Fae then...what happened to Fae? He had no idea...she had been gone for so long.

She turned to look at him while she gulped. Soon enough she was whispering to him," I'm sorry... That question was uncalled for..." She bit her lip, but she couldn't stop looking at him.

He moved forward then, unaware of the steps he was taking, soon he was a hairs breadth away from her, his lips less than an inch from hers, his breath warm against her lips. He paused there for a moment, lips almost brushing hers as he whispered. "No, it wasn't." Responding so softly before his lips went towards hers fully, brushing at first only to settle firmly against hers in a gentle and lingering kiss. His hands lifted to the sides of her face, cradling it softly.

Feeling his breath against her lips she sucked in her own and held it. At his words she gasped a bit and then his lips were gliding over her own with tender ferocity. As he cupped her cheeks she slid her arms up and around his neck. Returning the simple caress of a dance against his lips with her own. Her emerald eyes shut and fingers went in a glide up through his hair.

His hands slid down to her sides and there they rested as lips continued their elegant and soft dance. He held the kiss for minutes to come, breathtaking in both its length and tender passion, his previous embarrassment had left him and was replaced simply by the will to keep the kiss going.

She was lost in that intricate dance, tangled in the passion and devotion that was blossiming at that moment. The more time she tangled her lips with his the more she never wanted to leave them. Her fingers eased up and through her hair, down over his neck and over his shoulder as she caressed and massaged him. Her heart was still racing and so was her mind as she gasped out and called out between breaths and against his lips," Vrael?"

He found himself continuing, entranced by her lips for a time, and finally after another minute her call registered and he responded in a similar manner. "Hmm...?" Not even a full word then as his lips were lost against hers.

Lost lips, lost words or where they. As she pulled her lips away from his reluctantly she exhaled a heated breath. Her eyes opening to lock with his while she whispered," Why me?"

Lips trailed after hers until he realized she had spoken and he stopped, albeit grudgingly. "What do you mean?" He asked in a soft whisper, an exhale of warm breath hands still on her hips wanting to pull her in to continue.

"Why me? Like this... With you?" But she was eyeing his lips hungrily. Licking her lips and biting her bottom one while she waited impacently for an answer from him. A soft exhale left her and she started to give light pecks against them, still giving him the breath to speak.

"I...I honestly I don't know, I just had to, have to, want to, need to..." He whispered against her lips in a soft exhale of words and breath, velvet lips grazing against hers hungrily, needingly.

A soft cry left her lips at the hunger behind his lips," Please tell me I won't wake up from this wonderful dream?" She whimpered happily and kissed at his lips while she held him close to her. Suckling on his bottom lip while she stepped into the gap between them and closed it.

"Only if you tell me I won't wake up either..." He responded between a breath and a kiss before his lips went back to their extravagant dance with hers, a soft and tender embrace of lips that moved with each other in gentle harmony.

She tangled herself up with him and sucked in a breath. Fingers grazed over his cheek and she whispered to him," Never waking from this glorious dream..." She finally after several moments of savoring his lips with her own, pulled away reluctantly and bit her lip," I have to go home..." Frowning, knowing too well that she needed to take care of her apartment.

"Do you really?" He asked quietly, arms still around her, body still close, struggling not to continue the kiss as he waited for her to speak.

"I have a dog there Vrael... And all my things are there..." Whispered to him as she caressed at the side of his neck and kissed at his chin," Trust me... I don't want to go back there. I want to stay here with you. Always with you."

?Then we'll go get them, all of them the dog, your things all of it..." He said in a soft whisper, lips brushing up her neck and along her jaw, to briefly kiss at her lips. "We can offer Jack that job, we can get it all done tonight."

She gasped out as he kissed her neck and then looked in his eyes," Really? You would do all this for me? So that I could be with you?" She bit her lip and sucked in a soft breath.

He nodded silently lips trailed away from hers. "No, I wouldn't, I am doing it." Lips brushed hers. "If you'll let me..."

Kissing him back she smiled softly," I'd let you do it over and over again Vrael." Looking in his eyes she grazed her lips with his in a gentle kiss.

"Then lets get it over and done with." He said with a subtle nod and a soft smile. "Quickly so that we may return here."

With a nod she reluctantly stepped away from him. A smile grew on her lips and soon enough she was gathering up her jacket. Throwing it over her shoulders she turned to look at him curiously," You don't mind a dog do you?" Smiling she stepped in and kissed his lips again softly.

He shook his head."Not at all." Then the kiss was returned just as as softly and then steps were taken towards the entry room, his swords taken up, and strapped on, he held the door open for her, and awaited her exit. "Let?s get then."

Nodding lightly she stepped out into the cold and wrapped herself up more within her jacket. She shivered and sucked in a breath only breathing out fog. Her head turned and looked towards Vrael before making her way down the familure path at his side towards home. Soon enough they would be under the shadow of the apartment building and stopping before Jack. Her form still hugging her jacket at her in attempts to be warm.

He walked with Saelaes, his clothes offered little to no protection against the cold, but when his arm went around her shoulder she'd feel the heat his body always gave off in cold weather. The blood of Balors was that of fire, and it ran through his veins, so he was never cold. He looked upon Jack for a moment and offered a kind smile. "I have a proposition for you Jack."

He nodded. "I imagine its cold out, and you'd prefer a nice and cozy apartment, well I'd like to offer you a job at my smithy, it's good work, well paying, with good benefits, and I will pay the rent on your apartment for you while you get settled and on your feet, how does that sound?" Head tilted as he regarded the man.

Nestling into the warmth of Vrael's arms Sae bit her lip softly. Smiling to him a bit she whispered to him," Thank you." Glad to be warm a bit while Jack stared at the two with delight.

He was proud of Sae and pleased that she had found a man that was going to be a prince to her. Clapping his hands he nearly fainted at the proposition. His jaw dropped and he stammered for a bit," Job? Place to stay? Good health? Warmth? F... F... For me?" He was stunned but his smile turned bright like Santa's and he clapped his worn gloves together," You can count on me boss, just take care of that angel under your arm will ya?"

A smile cast towards Saelaes, then to Jack. "I plan on that sir." He nodded. "I know its hard to find an apartment on such short notice so you may stay in one of my guest rooms until we can pick out a suitable one for you, is that agreeable?"

He nodded once more and chuckled," By all means boss. What ever you desire." Then he bowed to the two and went to collect his possessions. Saelaes turned to look up at Vrael, making a promise to take care of him as well. Hugging him to her she nuzzled his shoulder happily.

He nodded and held out a paper with his address to Jack. "Go there, that?s my home you can't miss it, just walk in its open to you, we have to go gather up her things." He nodded then guided Saelaes towards the apartment.

She lead him up the tight and creaking stairs. Stepping up them carefully and biting her lip, making sure that they wouldn't break in places. Soon enough she was on the fifth floor and jiggling a key in the door. Working with it and growling with frustration.

Fingers brushed along the lock and it clicked, the door opened silently then and he motioned for her to lead the way inside with a nod.

She nodded and then WOOSH! There was a small knee high dog bouncing up and down with a bark. The dog danced up and down and then around in circles happy to see Sae as she entered the apartment filled with paintings, sculptures, and the tools of her trades. There was a phone beeping on a table and she gulped. Slowly moving over to it and pressing the button.

The answer machine started to go off," SAE I NEED YOU TO GET YOUR ASS TO WORK NOW!" Beeeeeeepp! Message one," SAE DAMNIT WORK NOW OR YOU'RE FIRED!" Beeeeeeeppp. Message two done," SAE LISTEN WELL B****H I DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF #$%^&* YOU'RE PULLING BUT WHEN YOU GET THIS GET YOUR ASS INTO WORK!" The phone went silent and she winced. She looked sheepishly to Vrael while whispering," Sorry... My boss really needed me tonight it seems..."

He pressed the button on the answer machine and deleted the message. "Obviously not that much else he'd go about it in a nicer way, let?s get your things together shall we?" He asked as he surveyed the apartment.

She nodded softly and murmured to him," What can I leave and what should I take?" Granted she knew her clothes was a given, her dog as well, but besides that and her work she didn't know what else she was allowed to bring."

"Whatever you want." He shrugged. "It?s your stuff do with it what you please." He nodded then, glancing around making note, art, clothes, dog, and a few other necessities but what else?

Soon all her bags were packed, which was mostly two bags and then the paintings were in the several, several dozens. Swallowing softly as she looked at them," There's so many paintings... We don't have to take them all tonight." The dog was circling around her legs and barking happily.

His hand fished through a pocket and withdrew a small black gemstone, he tossed it forward and uttered a small incantation, the paintings were sucked into it, as all the other items, bags and such, all except him, her, and the dog. The gemstone then floated back to his hand and he tucked it away. "Ready?"

Blinking at the magic she turned her eyes up at him with a nod," Yeah. I'm ready..." She leaned over and locked the leash on the pup's collar," Molly this is Vrael... Vrael... This is Molly." Smiling to her dog and patting it.

He pat the dog lightly on the head, then his arm went back around Saelaes and he led her out the door, down the stairs and then down the street to his large home. He entered quietly, looking around for Jack and then to her. "I'm tired to be honest, I think I'll be going to sleep soon..." He nodded.

She nodded lightly and let Molly explore while she whispered," Where do I sleep?" She asked curiously and looked around for Jack. Seeing that he was obviously prepping to go to bed or in bed. There was the sound of the shower somewhere in the house. She then looked back to Vrael.

He tugged her towards the black marble platform and they were teleported to his room he led her towards his bed and pulled back the sheets. "Here." He said quietly as he released her and started to unbutton his shirt.

Swallowing she looked around before shedding her jacket and blushing towards the bed. Again she was a bit nervous while she nodded and wriggled a bit out of her boots and pants. Still being quite nervous she gave him a soft smile and shifted on her feet towards the bed.

He shrugged out of his shirt and vest, removed his boots, belt, and pants, then slid into the bed, rolling to the other side to give her room, it was a large king sized even Molly could hop up there should the dog choose to.

The dog was already spinning around on the bed and flopping down in a bed. Saelaes was sliding into bed after Vrael and settling down into it with a soft sigh. She had never been on a bed this big. Swallowing she shifted to set her watch before pulling it off. Having all the intentions of going to work tomorrow and doing so while she set her watch.

His arm slipped under her, he pulled her up to him, lips caressed her neck then along her jaw and up to her lips, soft and gentle before he pulled back. "Good night Sae..." He whispered as he set his head back against his pillow.

Part 3

His dreams and sleep were not as peaceful as he had hoped, nor were they ever, and by the looks of things, they never would be. Images flashed through his mind, images of blood, battle, death, of the time when he was a hunter of the shadows. His outward appearance while sleeping looked semi-peaceful though, but his face was set into an, oh so subtle frown as he relived those gruesome scenes over and over again in his sleep.

Saelaes was slumbering still in the bed, almost as if she had never slept before. Her form was curled up in a ball on her side, Molly in the middle of that ball and a sleep as well. Her watch was silent, but back at her apartment the phone was going haywire. There were screams and cusses coming from her boss on levels no one had ever heard before. Soft exhales of breath were given back in her new world as Sae hugged her dog close to her and nuzzled at the fur.

She had been dreaming quite well for the first time in a long time. She was snug however against Vrael's form, still aware that he was there. The dreams were fair until the shadows invaded. Suddenly she started to squirm and with a yelp Molly was kicked from the bed. Sae was screaming out in her sleep, but she couldn't wake. More and more she began to thrash about as the shadows teased and taunted her dreams.

Thankfully for them both, her screams woke him from his nightmares and his eyes instantly snapped to her, he slid to a sitting position, caressing her cheek and whispering soothing words of magic into her ear. After a time his hand moved to her shoulder and gave her a gentle shake and nudge. "Sae, wake up, its alright." The soft voice of a velvet harp-song issued forth from the pale lips of the troubled tiefling, but his troubles would wait, placed aside for hers.

Saelaes: A fraction of a second was all he was allotted to move out of the way as she snapped up and awake. Shaking wildly she looked forwards wide eyed. Her face was as pale as if she had seen a ghost. She was frozen to her spot and void of understanding where she was. All she knew was that the dream was horrifying beyond anything she had ever had. Her mind was having difficulty reminding her that Vrael was there, that he saved her, and now he wanted to be with her always. The process was slow and even Molly dared not to move near her, so she just watched in a sitting position far away from the bed.

"Sae..." He whispered her name oh so softly as a strong and slim arm worked its way around her. "Sae, its alright..." More soft reassuring words in the silky voice that was oh so calm and reassuring, soothing even. He knew not what had her troubled, but would do what he could to comfort her, and rid her of the trouble.

Sae was startled instantly by the arm around her and she nearly pushed her way out of his embrace before she realized that it was him. Pants were coming from her even as she shook and struggled to understand what had just happened. Biting her lip softly she soon had her head buried in his chest and sobbing out against it. Clinging to his frame the best she could she whispered to him," I saw the shadows.... Trying to take me again..."

His other arm went up and to the back of her head, stroking her hair gently with soft caress. A slow nod as he listened and then responded. "Don't you worry, they'll never take you, they won't, I promise, it's alright." He said in his always calm and soothing voice, lips dipped down and met the top of her head, and then his chin was made to rest there.

Still trembling she clung to his form while sniffling softly. Her eyes turned up to gaze at him, falls of tears pouring from them," Why me? Vrael? Why did they want me in the first place? I never did anything to them." Shaking her head and swallowing back tears, Molly soon decided that with the words of her mistress it was safe to move back to the bed. Sure enough moments later she was sleeping again.

A hand moved to her face, worked away the tears in light caressing touches. "I don't know, people like that, they don't need a reason, don't care who's done something to them or not, they'll treat people all the same." Lips met her forehead in a tender caress. "It'll be alright though, they won't be able to get you, they won't come back."

She nodded and sniffled a bit as she looked up at him. Her eyes were still watery as she whispered," I wish I wasn't so weak... I wish I had magic and other skills like the elves I see, but I can't even keep my self from being screamed at long enough to do something worth while and amazing."

Lips brushed against hers for a fleeting moment. "You're not weak, not at all...you're very much amazing too, trust me I wouldn't change a thing about you for the world..." His fingers continued to give her cheek light and gentle caresses, he gazed deep into her eyes with his own striking green ones with ain incredibly amount of adoration and affection.

A weak smile formed on her lips and she swallowed softly. Biting her lip and whispering she spoke up lightly," Really?" Biting her lip she leaned in and nuzzled his shoulder softly. Her arms wrapped around them and she sniffled again, but for now the sobs had silenced.

A slow nod came as his hand stopped its caress and went around her body to complete the embrace. "Really." He said softly and truthfully, his head moved to rest against the crook of her neck and shoulder.

She hugged him tightly and murmured to him softly," You're amazing to me too..." She murmured while she took a deep breath of his scent and nestled into his warmth. More and more feeling safe in his arms.

Lips brushed against her neck softly and then there was the sound of a bell, his head lifted and looked around. "Seems I have company..." That was surprising, he looked to her, let lips run across hers, then slipped from her arms to slide into some pants and pull a t-shirt over his head. "I'll be right back." He said as he walked towards the platform that transported him to the entry way, then he went to the door.

Sliding from the bed she got dressed in some pjs. She only had those, work clothes, and normal clothes. She blinked and looked down at the black marble platform curiously before it came to life. With a blink she was on the plat form and soon looking around the Mansion. She would leave Vrael to his work and move to the kitchen to make breakfast for the both of them.

He opened the door and was rather shocked with what he saw, he nearly jumped back with surprise it had been so long since he had seen her but there was no mistaking it, the woman at the door who was young looking and beautiful was in fact his mother he stared dumbfounded, he hadn't heard from her in so long he had assumed the worst, and then there was the fact that she had found him. "How...how?" Blink he shook his head, pushing his questions aside quickly as his face lit up in a smile he took and led her inside. "Come in!" He was shocked but very pleased to see the first person who had ever been kind to him, and he quickly led her to the kitchen to meet Saelaes.

Saelaes was fixing up plates for two when the woman was brought in by the hand. Her eyes shot up to Vrael and she gulped a bit nervously. Afraid greatly that this was a woman from the past that would push her back to the apartments. She gave a soft smile and swallowed lightly," Hello.." Quickly she was moving to gather up another plate.

The woman blinked at Vrael, then Saelaes, before speaking. "Found yourself someone have you? That?s good." Her hand was pulled from Vrael's as she moved to Saelaes, did a curtsy and bowed her head lightly. "Good afternoon, I am Alustriel, pleasure to meet you." Her voice was strikingly similar to Vrael's but of course was more feminine, it was light and soft, a delicate song. Vrael spoke up then. "Saelaes, this is my mother." He sounded shocked at saying that, a very unexpected surprise.

Saelaes had put down the plate so that she could bow to the woman. When she heard Vrael she gasped and bowed again. Gulping lightly and biting her lip she found it hard to speak properly," I... Its... I'm please to meet you.." She bowed lightly and tuned to look up a Vrael for a moment before looking to the woman," I'm sorry I'm not dressed properly..." She regarded her pjs and started to chew on her lip.

A light laugh as delicate and soft as she appeared. "Your fine dear." She reassured her with a nod and a light pat on the shoulder, she scanned the kitchen, smelling and trying to discern what was being made, but Vrael caught her attention with a question. "Not to sound rude, or unhappy in the least, but what are you doing here?" His mother turned to him then and offered a smile."I had heard you'd found a place to live, Karanthys told me, and its been so long I thought I should come see you." A side glance to Saelaes, Alustriel's eyes were strikingly similar to Vraels, then she turned back to her son. "I had no idea you had settled down with someone, can I be expecting grandchildren soon? Should I already be?" Another glance to Saelaes. "I didn't miss the wedding did I?" Vrael blinked, clearly she had no idea how very new their relationship was.

Saelaes was standing there in silence. She blinked to Vrael and then back to Alustriel as she gaped a bit. Biting her lip softly she soon whispered to Alustriel," Ma'am... I love your son very much, that is quite true, but as far as the wedding we haven't quite breached the subject of it."

She blinked and turned to the stove real quick to sort the bacon before smiling to Vrael weakly," I'm sure once Vrael is ready, he'll ask, but as it stands, we both are content to get to know eachother before we consider that."

Head tilted as she regarded Saelaes, then turned to Vrael. "Know each other? Don't you two live together?" Vrael nodded, he had nothing to contribute to the conversation really. "Did you say Karanthys told you?" He blinked. "How did he know...?" Eyes wide, then set into a frown. "Get down..." He said cooly he ran from the room and towards the entry way, swords being strapped on as he swept them up, he stopped at the door and waited, sure enough there was a loud crash and it was blown open.

Sae looked towards Vrael and then swallowed," Vrael?" Her brow furrowed and she watched him make towards the door. But as he drew the blade she did as she was told. Ducking down behind the counter she closed her eyes tightly. As the door was blown open she covered her head with a cry. Her eyes were shaking as she searched for Vrael's mother to get her out of danger.

His blades were drawn so fast they seemed to just appear in his hands. He glared at the three figures that entered, a half-dragon, a human, and a tall tiefling, Vrael's half-brother. "I see the wench has led us right to you..." He hissed and without a word, Vrael charged the group, ducking low under the half dragon's tail, and slicing up from hip to shoulder, then across the neck, a clean kill, swift and easy, but one that came at a price as the human's hammer smacked him right between the shoulders.

Vrael lurched forward as his grasp loosened on his blades, but he managed to keep hold. Gritting his teeth against the pain he spun around to intercept the next attack by crossing his blades up in the air before him, catching the hammer by the shaft. His slid his blades down the hammer's handled and brought them to the man's hands, twin slices severed his fingers and his weapon was dropped. Before the hammer touched the ground three slashes were made, and he dropped.

Vrael wheeled around and charged at the tiefling Karanthys, who held a longsword and a dirk, the dirk rushed ou to intercept an attack, his longsword made a return one that Vrael batted aside with his tail, it was a long battle, blows being constantly exchanged, until Vrael tripped his foe with his tail and held the blades to his throat. Just as he was about to stab he was struck in mid back by a ball of energy, and thrown into a wall. His blades dropped, his eyes struggling to stay open, he looked up and saw his mother in the midst of casting a second spell, aimed at Vrael.

Sae was looking at the woman as she cast the spell. She was panting roughly as she tried to figure out what to do. Her head shook as she shifted about in her spot to find something, some way of doing the right thing. Her figure shifted along the floor until she was able to peer out at the fight happening. As one figure fell before her in the form of the half dragon she screamed out, her body nearly buckling as she slid back from the blood. Eyes wide and her body shaking a bit more.

Saelaes

Sucking in a breath she looked back at the woman again, seeing the workings of a spell, but she couldn't tell if it was bad or good. She didn't know much of anything anymore. She just knew that Vrael was in danger. Soon enough she was standing and with a shift in her feet a house hold knife shot out and plinked his half brother in the shoulder," LEAVE HIM ALONE!" She screamed out with rage as she started to throw more knives and not caring if they just plinked off his armor, one was bound to hit its mark eventually.

Karanthys turned and was instantly in front fo Sael, tail wrapped about her neck lifting her from the ground, Vrael strugged to get to his feet but was struck directly in the chest with a bolt of lightning. He looked at his mother, shocked and hurt, but he stood, a mumble sent a wall of wind knocking her off her feet, her head hit the wall and she was knocked unconcious. Then Vrael rushed at Karanthys, scooping up a blade and stabbed his half-brother through the back, the blade came up to stop mere inch away from Saelaes' face, then was wrenched free, she was dropped he dropped and Vrael turned to his mother, dumfounded.

Saelaes was grunting and coughing while she was held up by her neck. Her feet were kicking and thrashing against him until her eyes were wide and staring at the tip of a blade. Sucking in a breath and suddenly falling back to the ground she started to cough for air. Wheezes and gasps coming before her eyes too turned on Vrael's mother, but they wouldn't linger there. She turned her eyes on Vrael's brother and she slid back a bit. Her hand moving to rub at her neck as she grimiced.

She stirred, eyes turned to Vrael, then Karanthys, then Saelaes, then back to Karanthys. Her green hues flashed over in an inky blackness as the spell placed over her took hold again, he growled and lunged forward at Vrael, attempting to claw him with her finger-nails. He jumped back, again and again, until he was backed into a corner. His mind reached out to feel at his mothers, she was lost, her consciousness had been erased, there was nothing left of her, so when she lunged once more, his blade was brought up, and held in front of him, he didn't even stab, she had thrown herself right onto its tip, it drove through her stomach up to the hilt where she stopped a few inches way from her son.

Fingers already slowing in their clawing movements at his face, not so much as scraping his skin, she growled hatefuly, glared with anger and slumped as life fled her body. He caught her by the back of the neck as he slid the blade free of her body, and lowered her gently to the floor, he knew very well who was responsible for this, his father. People of the Abyss could not be fully killed on the material plain, so he must be back in the hells plotting against Vrael, that was the only thing that made sense...

Sae watched the event with wide eyes. As his mother fell on the blade she calpped her hand over her mouth and broke out in sobs. Her eyes were shaking while she looked at Vrael lower her to the ground. Still shaking she stayed where she was, not sure what had happened, but knowing all to well that something had gone severly amiss. Her body was pale as she sucked in strong breaths, trying to clam herself even as her horror struck eyes replayed the scene over and over again. She didn't know what to do, or say. She was too afraid to move, to afraid to speak, but she knew that Vrael was probably going to lose it. More and more she felt helpless.

HIs blades left his hands to clang onto the floor, he slumped back against the wall and slid to the ground. His knees brought up to his chest and his arms over them, he buried his face there, hiding it eyes clenched shut everytime something good happened to him, something was taken away, a life that was completely unfair. He shook silently, whether or not he was crying was impossible to tell, as he was perfectly silent. His tail reflexively curled around his legs, his wings sprouted up and wrapped around his body, hiding him from view. He remained in place, he had killed his mother, the one who had done so much for him, whom he cherished and loved dearly, his closest friend and relative, he had taken her life.

Sobs were leaving her lips as she looked at the agony taking over her mate. Her fingers were shaking as she pulled them from her lips. Swallowing raggid breaths down she slid down the floor towards him and curling up next to his figure at the wall. She was there for him when he was ready. But what if he was never ready? What if he pushed her away? Her eyes shook as she thought about what had just happened. Sobbing softly again she gripped at her jeans.

His wings spread out, opened, and closed away, retracted and disappeared from sight, he shook silently, face hidden from view the wings being withdrawn was like a silent request for help, asking for some way to comfort him, a way to rid him of the pain. But nothing could truly help after what had just happened, not fully.

Seeing this Saelaes slid forwards, her arms folding around him the best she could. Sobbing softly she sobbed softly on his back as her head rested there. She had one hand rubbing on his shoulder and sucked in a soft breath. Words would be useless at this point, all she could do was hold him and let him know she was there. As long as he wanted her and needed her to be there she would do just that.

He nearly jumped at the contact, slowly his head lifted and turned to face her, he shifted himself and wrapped his arms around her, face set against her neck and there he remained silent and broken. The shaking stopped but the silence endured his eyes clenched shut he feared that opening them would let him see the body of his mother, something he couldn't look at yet.

Sae was holding to him as she sniffled softly. Her head lowered and her shock continuing to grow. Had she just witnessed all this. The tail around her neck made her lift a shaking hand to her throat and wheezing a bit as she tried to get her mind clear of the lack of hair. She was shaking her head and lowering her hand all the same while she whimpered softly. Her eyes turned on the form at her feet and she whispered," Come on Vrael... Come on.." Standing up she pulled him up and tugged him out

of the room. She moved him to the study and set him by the fire," I'll be back.... Stay here... I'll be back, I promise..." She whispered to him and kissed his forehead. Without another word she stepped back and moved out of the room slowly.

He was guided away and when he sat down he remained there. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees face in his hands, in complete shock at what just happened. He dared not move, dared not speak or do anything other than breath silently. He feared what would come out of he spoke, what he might do if he moved.

Sae busied herself in the kitchen. Cleaning up broken objects and covering up both men, the half dragon and tiefling, Vrael's brother. When she got to his mother she was shaky, but none the less she picked up the woman as gently as she could. Swallowing softly she carried his mother into a spair room towards the tub. Carefully she cleaned the woman up and placed her in a makeshift gown. Determined that when Vrael was ready to look at her it wouldn't be with the memory of the kitchen. Setting her on the bed she folded both hands over the woman's stomach and exhaled softly.

Tears still falling from her eyes as she worked for a few hours at least. Eventually the kitchen was back to its normal status besides the two bodies she had placed in an opposing room, way on the other end of the mansion from Vrael's mother and Vrael's mother looked more like she was sleeping. Though Sae knew, she would never wake and Vrael would never have her around to smile to her son again. With sobs fighting to break free from her lips she returned, cleaned up just a touch and stopped by the side of Vrael's chair. No words were said as she stood there gazing into the fire and lifting her arm to wipe at her tear filled eyes.

Upon her arrival, Vrael stood slowly, he looked down at his clothes, his white shirt had specks of blood, most of it from the half-dragon and Karanthys, but a bit on his sleeves, that was from his mother's wound. He turned and silently left the room, pulling that shirt off and tossing it into the fire. He walked to the entryway and retrieved his fallen swords. He cleaned the blades with a mumbled incantation and sheathed the blades. He moved quietly, following the smell towards the room where his mother lay, and stood next to her.

No words offered, no tears, he was furious. His grief replaced by overwhelming anger and hate, a hand lifted to hover above his mother and he closed his eyes, whispering quietly. A blue light issued from his palm and washed over her body as he scanned the traces of magic left over. He followed the trail left in the weave to the Abyss, and to the one he had suspected, his father was indeed responsible, and so it was him who would pay. The light subsided, his hand lowered, his eyes opened and his whispering stopped, he bent forward, placed both hands on the sides of his mother's head, and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, muttering something under his breath as he did so. Then he turned and left the room, heading for his study, and his many books on planar travel.

Saelaes stared blankly at the fire. Keeping silent and calm while he took a visit to his mother. Her head was lowered down on her knees and her arms were wrapped around her legs. Light sniffles came over her and she bit back more sobs as he entered the room. Soon enough she was aware of his presence but silent all the same. Letting him do as he whished while she waited for him to speak with her.

Books upon books where stacked and dropped in front of the hearth, a whisper and an incorporeal servant appeared delivering a clean shirt which he slipped on as he began to flip through the pages of large dusty tomes. Most bound in dark leathers, old and weathered with runes scribed in draconic, as most magic was written in that language.

Some in elven and a great deal in Abyssl. He flipped through pages rapidly, searching for the proper incantations, the right pentacles he'd have to draw, everything he would need to travel to the Abyssyl Plain of Fire, or Thosi, as they called it there. Books were carelessly cast aside as he scanned nonstop, he said not a word of what he was doing only read.

Sae had soon curled up in the chair opposite his and sobbed herself to sleep. She didn't want to leave the room and go to bed so she stayed where she was. Wrapped up in her own arms by the fire and Molly looking over her legs at Vrael. Blonde hair was over her face and her form was still quivering. She didn't dream, and for once that was a very good thing.

He looked up from his work after a time and saw her there. Books placed aside he stood and walked over to her. A hand lowered and brushed her hair from her face as he knealt down next to the chair. Fingers then caressed her cheek as he called her name softly. "Sae...Sae...come on, let?s get you to bed..." His voice was like a whisper from a ghost, so soft and sad, like death had been achieved, but then ripped away, left with torment and pain.

Sae didn't shift or wriggle as she was woke, Her eyes just opened to gaze at the fire. Swallowing a bit her head didn't turn, she just nodded in her spot. Biting her lip softly and sitting up she slowly eased to her feet. She staggered a bit while she shifted and swayed a bit. Eyes turning back on Vrael, empty and almost voided at the hurt she had heard in his voice.

He reached out to her and his arm went around her, then very suddenly he tugged her to him, his other arm coming up to wrap her in his embrace. He held her for many long moments in that hug, which was meant to comfort them both.

Resting her head upon his shoulder she bit her lip. Swallowing softly and trailing her fingers over his clean shirt she sniffled softly and closed her eyes in a light sob. The tears started again as she thought of the woman laying up stairs. If there was anything she could do she would do it in a heartbeat for Vrael.

He'd hold her for now; there was little that could be done by anything other than time. But he'd travel to the Abyss soon, he'd find his father and he'd tear the half-demons heart out and cast it into the void, even if it mean he had to pray to Sithis once again, he'd see to it that that man's heart was destroyed.

Sae didn't know what for sure she could do to make things right. If that was what he wanted to do then she would be here when he was back. She prayed he would be back. Her head was still pressed to his chest as she sniffled lightly and clung to him. Her mind was already determined not to lose him.

He sighed, he didn't know how to reach the Abyss he had never traveled there before, he had no clue where to start, but he'd find a way. Until then he'd stay here, with her, but first something had to be done, several things had to be done before he could leave.

Jack was standing outside the study, almost as if he had been standing there all along. He looked clean cut and rather important from what he did yesterday evening. He gave Sae a gruff nod and looked over to Jack," Sir... Might I have a word with you in Private?" He wasn't meaning to intrude, but he figured now was the best time to have words with Vrael.

Eyes turned to Jack a slow nod, he stepped away from Sae and walked over to the man. Hands rested lightly and idly on the hilts of his swords once more, but seemed to grip them a bit more than usual, an obvious sign of his stress. "Yes...?" He asked as he exited the study and waited for Jack to follow.

Jack followed after nodding to Sae. He swallowed a bit and whispered," Sae must not know that we have spoke of this. It's very important that she doesn't ever know of this until she's ready." He nodded and glanced back to the study warily. Swallowing a bit the man started for a room well away from the study, he didn't want to take a chance in Sae over hearing.

He nodded and walked along side Jack, entered the room and waited for the man to speak. What was it he was hiding from Sae, this was odd, he had thought Jack a simple homeless man in need of a bit of help, was there more to the man than originaly thought?

"I am the high guard of the Imperial Court of Lunas." He said softly and sighed," Saelaes is important there, but she got hurt in a raid. Since then we've figured it's best that she not be where she would be in danger. She has to be safe at all times. Her skills are Important and Great... Powerful beyond compare." He nodded a bit as he stopped at a table.

Head tilted and a very very slow blink came at that. "I'm sorry? Imperial Court of Lunas? What exactly is that? High guard? Who are you then? And what skills do you talk about?" His brow furrowed he had sensed not even the faintest inkling of magic or power from Sae, not in the literal sense anyways.

Sitting down Jack shifted in his spot," My name is Balyl, Guard of the Imperial Court of Lunas, the last court on Earth of Elves. At least my... Sae's Earth. Sae is possibly the most prized possession that the elves have, but she'll never step foot back into the court ever again. She is the heir to the key of Jhori and her power is incredible." He looked to Vrael with a smirk," During the raid she did whatever she could to insure that the Court was protected and secured. At a price... She lost all her memory and knowledge of what she was before. To keep her safe we sent her away to live her own life under the careful watch of several guards. I'm all there is left and my health is fading. I need to know that when my time comes someone will be there to keep my people's hope safe."

A slow nod, anymore surprises for Vrael today, and he might just die from all the overwhelming shock he was getting. "I see..." A hand ran through his golden hair, and fell back to the hilt of his blade as he studied Jack...no Balyl for a time. "Rest assured that her safety and happiness is my highest priorety."

"Then understand when I tell you that she doesn't need to know who she is." Jack stood and shifted," To her I am a mere homeless man that you were kind to. That's how it should stay. When we leave this room... We were discussing business. If she found out, it may be dangerous."

"How so?" Head tilted as he regarded Balyl curiously, he took a lean up on a wall, cryptic words would get them nowhere and he was not in the mood for them so he hoped that the answer would be blunt and to the point.

"Saelaes could very well go mental... Her mind could shut off and she could slip off into comatose." He nodded as he answered bluntly.

"Very well then." A slow nod, he came out of his lean and walked towards the door. "So then it stays Jack correct?" Asking about the name and such as he exited the room, looking over his shoulder at Jack/Balyl.

Nodding Jack smiled," Jack..." His form then turned to look out the window. He would say no more, but let Vrael go back to Saelaes.

A nod and he headed off towards the study and Saelaes, he walked in and over to her. "We have much to talk about, but that can wait, for now, rest." He said with a nod as an arm slipped around her and he made to guide her towards the door of the study.

Saelaes was looking up at him as she swallowed," Is everything alright?" She was worried now more than ever that something would happen to Vrael. Her heart was racing and she was shaking a bit as her eyes studied his face for any sign of hope or change from his dispair.

"Nothing?s worse than it was before." He nodded, a weak faltering smile. Then he led her towards the platform that sent them to the bedroom. Silent he guided her towards the bed and then released her.

She looked at her blood stained clothes and whisepred," I need to wash up a bit..." Sae said as she lowered her head and held back her shaking for a moment.

He nodded slowly. "Alright." Then motioned for her to do so as he unstrapped his sword belt and placed the blades within easy reach of the bed. He removed his boots and took a seat on the edge of the bed, watching the room in silence.

Saelaes was curled up under the water soon enough. The water falling down on her as she thought over what happened. Blood was pooling at her feet while she trembled and tried to work the thought of what happened between the kitchen and what had happened in the ware house.

He did nothing, said nothing, just sat and waited. Thoughts drifted back to earlier times in his life, his younger years that were filled with the cruel tormenting of children. People never seemed to grasp how cruel a child can be towards another. He reflected on those times, and the one ray of light the sun let through in his life then, his mother was the only one at the time who had not seen him as an outcast, his race was not unheard of, but rarely were they accepted with open arms, it was-
: -usually with brandished weapons.

Sae sobbed in the shower. Her form taking in the warmth while it remained. Yet when it turned to ice cold she stayed, not minding for either or at this point. Her fears were clinging to her and even more so she was afraid that deep down inside before they had ever gotten started Vrael would send her away. She didn't know if she could take that pain, for some reason it seemed more familure than she had thought it would be. What was happening to her? Could she honestly agree with what she had said in the kitchen to his mother, that she loved Vrael more than anything... Yes. Yes she could.

He waited for a bit longer, would continue to sit and reflect, slowly his memories led him back to earlier in the kitchen, his mothers talk of marriage, Sae's words of love, he had not responded to those words in kind, and it struck him then that he should have. He did indeed love her, he would make sure that nothing happened to her, would never drive her away, intentionaly at least.

The shower stopped but she had already gone blue. Her lips were shivering, but she couldn't notice. Her skin was blue and the tips of her ears were blue. She was reaching for the towel and wrapping it around her, but her shivering was so bad that she couldn't move more than what she had. Eyes were dazed forwards as her heart skipped a beat, she loved Vrael. She had never felt so sure about something this powerful.

He heard the shower stop, and waited for a time, when she didn't exit he walked in to see her blue lips and ears. He blinked and rushed to her, wrapping her in a towel and lifting her from the shower and out of the bathroom, towards the bed, his body was warm, far warmer than normal to accommodate for her cold condition.

Hands were gripping at his shirt and she was quaking in his arms. Clinging to his warmth she looked up with wide eyes at him," I... I'm... I'm sorry..." Her body was still trembling as she sucked in rasped breaths through her shivers.

"What were you doing?" He asked as he concentrated on making his abyssal blood multiply the heat he gave off. He stared down at her with confusion, and sat down on the edge of the bed, using his heat to warm her.

"I... I... I... W...w.. w.. was... th.. th... thinking..." Still shivering she nestled into his warmth, suddenly realizing just how cold she was. Her teeth were still chattering as she lowered her head.

"Esuagee." He muttered and a large flame appeared before them, floating in the air and giving off intense heat.

Deep breaths were forming in her lips as she warmed, the tips of her airs seeming less purple while she whispered," I'm sorry..."

"Don't do that ever again alright?" He looked back down to her studying her face as the purple left. "What were you thinking about anyways?" He honestly wondered what could be so interesting that it would make one forget to get out of the cold.

She nodded to the first question before whispering," I was wondering if I meant what I said back in the kitchen... And I realized... I do.. I don't know what I would do now without you around... I know it's fast and possibly too fast, but the more I consider it the more I don't ever want to be without you."

"I thought on that too...I never said anything then, I should've though, should've told you that I felt the same, that I love you." His response was in a soft whisper, he recalled the conversation again, how he had been caught very off guard and unawares at the time.

Sae started to sob lightly after those words," But you're going to go away... You're going to go there and I don't know if you'll come back..." Her head lowered and her hair fell over her face.

"I'll come back, I promise." He nodded. "Time flows differently here than in the Abyss, for you, it'll be a day or two, for me, it might be weeks."

Buring her face in his shirt she sniffled," A day or two without you is better than an eternity."

A hand stroked through her hair lightly. "I promise I'll come back, after all is said and done with, I'll return and things will be better." He cupped the side of her face, and then slid his hand under her chin, guiding her face to his so that he could look her in the eye. "I promise." He said again before bringing his lips to hers, letting them brush for a lingering moment as if that kiss would seal his promise.

A tender kiss grazed at his lips in a delicate butterfly motion. Fingers rested on his chest still shaking lightly. Eyes closed and she let out a sob, unable to hold back the fear of losing him. She sucked in a breath and looked up in his eyes while her own watered.

"I won't be leaving for a good week or so anyways, I don't even know how to get to the Abyss." He nodded slowly, then brought his forehead to rest against hers. "Don't worry, it'll be alright, when all is over and done with, things will go back to the way they should be."

She nodded and her arms pulled him in to her form. Sighing softly and kissing at his nose she whispered to him softly," When you get back I'll be sure to look wonderful for you."

Funny how the woman who was already a vision to him, said she'd look wonderful, when she always did. "So you'll look like you did the other day then?" He asked quietly, even then she was a vision, no matter how dirty her clothes were there was always an elegance about her.

Blinking she looked to him curiously," Other day?" Blushing she softly shook her head and bit her lip as she whispers to him," I didn't get dressed up the other day..?" Biting her lip lightly she turned to look over her form and then back to him," How is that wonderful?"

A hand caressed her cheek. "You're a vision every time I see you. You have a radiant beauty that makes you glow no matter what you wear." Lips brushed hers briefly then. "You don't have to dress up to look wonderful, when you do already."

Her cheeks were go bright red as she looked to him. Slowly she pulled the towel over her head and hid her blushing as she spoke softly," I'm not wonderful... I don't have that much clothes..."

"You very much are." He argued with a nod, he pulled the towel away from her head and kissed her lips lightly. "You are incredibly wonderful, a vision without a doubt, like a dream even."

Blushing she wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled. Fingers trailed along his cheek and she sighed happily. Eyes closing and arms wrapping around his neck to pull him in close to her.

Arms slid around her and wrapped her in his embrace. There he held her, and there he came up with the idea. An idea that would not be spoken of or even hinted on this night, maybe the next, maybe the one after it, but not tonight.

Smiling to him her fingers trailed along his cheek and whispered softly," I love you so much Vrael..." Caressing his cheek she looked up in his eyes, catching the glint of a thought.

"I love you too..." He said softly in response, a smile was offered, a soft and warm one as arms tightened around her, tugged close and held firm.

Nestled in his arms she rested her head on his shoulder. Even after so much that had happened she was going to show that she was there for him. She wasn't going to leave his side and she was going to do everything in her power to keep him happy and always by her side.

He looked down to her, and for a moment, he forgot all the bad that had happened just a few hours ago, had forgotten the death and fighting, he'd even forgotten the torturous memories of his long and horrific past, but only for a moment.

She looked weary and tired, but she had done her best to make sure that his mother was honored the way it should have been. She whispered softly to him," I was wondering if there was something I could do for you, something tomorrow that would mean a lot to you..."

"Hmm...? Like what?" Head tilted to regard her curiously then, a blink came as he awaited her answer. What was she talking about? He had no idea what so ever. So emerald eyes studied her while he waited.

She shrugged and whispered," I don't know yet..." A smile formed on her lips a bit and then faded while she started to shiver again. She was now covered in wet towels with wet hair and well... not dressed.

"Lets get you in some pajamas and in bed." He nodded as he lifted her up and sat her on her feet. He then stood and took her towel, taking it back to the bathroom to toss it in the laundry bin.

When he would return she would be in a tank top and a pair of girl boxers. It was pretty much the last bit of night clothes she had and she had only been there one night.

He took her in his arms when he returned, and planted a firm and loving kiss on her lips, for many lingering moments he held it there, then lips trailed away. And without a word, he guided her to the bed.

That kiss would be returned with firm and loving embrace being delivered. When she was led back to the bed she settled down under the covers.

He laid down next to her, and set his head back against his pillow, a sigh, mixed with joy, sorrow, hate, anger, love, all at once issued softly from his lips, it had been a long two days.

Rolling on her side she nestled against his warm form. Eased in to comfort, even if it was only for a moment. Whispering to him softly," Is the house safe?" She didn't want to be woken with another tail around her neck and a demon breathing down her neck.

He nodded slowly. "Yes." He had made sure of that a long time ago. His arm slipped under her waist and hugged her to him, he'd make sure all was safe and would remain that way. He was exhausted now, it finally donned on him how tiring the day had been, and that sleep would have to come, despite the nightmares it was sure to bring.

Sae was already dreading sleep, she was scared beyond compare. She knew if she was having issues getting the tail around her neck from her mind she was going to have trouble sleeping and not feeling it coil its way until all the air she breathed was gone. Clinging to him she kept her eyes open and whispered," Can we have a bit of light through the night?"

He nodded and whispered a word softly, the room dimmed and on the ceiling there was a small golden orb that gave off a subtle and soft light, allowing the room to be visible, but not imparing sleep.

Smiling lightly she whispered to him," I love you with all my heart Vrael..." She looked up at the light and sighed," I'm scared..."

"I love you too..." He nodded to her, offered a smile. "Don't be scared, nothing will happen."

She nodded and curled up in his arms," I know... As long as I have you I will be safe." Nodding softly and yawning a bit. One hand moved up to rub at her eyes lightly.

He nodded. "Exactly...now go on and sleep, you're tired." He held her softly in a warm protective embrace, one he would hold until morning.

Nodding she closed her eyes slowly and clung to him. Soon enough she was sleeping soundly and for as long as that would be it was with a smile upon her lips.

And soon, he too fell asleep. Unfortunately his sleep was riddled with the constant chaotic nightmares and horrific images that his past brought about, and was added to with the days atrocities.

Part 4

He was asleep, and by all appearances was peacefully, but his nightmares tormented him with a savage fury this time. Not only were the images of his past playing over again and again in his head, but so too, were the events of the previous night so much torment in his sleep, he would awake tired and weary.

Her form was tangled in the bed, obviously having thrashed quite too much. Her hair was trailing over her face and deep breaths were being drawn in and out in soft, but rasped breaths. Her fingers were gripping the bed so tightly that she was tugging at it while her other hand shook at her throat.

He awoke with a start and shot up, glancing left and right, then to her, a hand went to hers and pulled it from her through, a light shake given as he whispered her name into her ear. "Sae, wake up Sae, its okay."

"Vrael... Vrael... VRAEL!!!!" She screamed as she shot up and started to shake desperately. Her eyes were looking forwards but she was whimpering meekly.

His slipped his arm around her, and drew her to him, wrapped her into his embrace. "Its alright...I'm here just a nightmare..." He whispered softly, lips brushed along her cheek. "Its alright."

Turning she glanced at him and swallowed softly. Her paws were resting at his chest as she looked up at him with a whimper and gulped softly. Her head pressed against his shoulder and she sniffled," I dreamed that while you were gone they came for me... They kept asking for you..."

"That won't happen, while I'm gone I'll have you protected, I promise, nothing will happen." He reassured her softly, holding her tightly in his arms a warm and protecting embrace. "Trust me, nothing bad will happen, I promise."

Nodding she wiped her eyes and whispered to him softly," Promise you'll come back?" Her eyes turned up to him as she gulped lightly," Please come back.... I don't want to lose you." She was clinging to him as her eyes looked up and locked with his.

He nodded slowly, a hand moved to brush a stray strand of her hair from her face, and lips met hers in a soft lingering kiss. "I promise I'll come back, I swear it. Even if I have to kill the wretched Lolth myself, I will come back."

She nodded, biting her lip softly as her fingers trailed over his cheek a bit. Sniffling a bit and kissing his lips tenderly while she whispered to him," That's all I ask, for you to come back..."

"I promise I will..." He returned the tender kiss with another light brush of lips. "Now come on, let?s get up and out of bed."

She nodded and looked around, her hands moving to wipe her eyes," What time is it?" Biting her lip she searched around and gasped," Oh no... Molly... Has she been up here yet?" The dog was nowhere in sight.

"I don't know, I just woke up." He looked around for the dog, slipping out of the bed and wandering about the room. "Where is she?" He blinked and stepped onto he platform that took him to the entryway.

Saelaes was slipping on her jeans and boots. Her jacket moving to fling over her shoulders while she ran for the Platform. She would check the kitchen after checking the front door. There was a blink and a gasp as she looked at the open back door.

He saw that door and went outside in search of the dog. Eyes scanning left and right, he called out to her several times and listened to see if she'd come around the corner or something.

Nothing. Sae sucked in a breath and shot forwards from the Mansion. Her eyes searched about and she soon was taking off a sprint in one direction. She was calling out frantically," Molly! Oh lords, please... Not again..."

He took off after Sae, he wouldn't let her out of his sight, not with the recent events being what they are. "Molly!" He called out in turn as he glanced every which way in hopes of finding the little dog.

Skidding to a stop and listening with her pointed ear. She gulped while she looked around. There was the chiming of bells and the jingles as she sucked in a soft breath. Biting a lip she started to chase after the bells," Molly!"
[
He followed after her with haste, always having her in his sight. He glanced every which way, but she was always at least in his peripherals.

There was a yelp and her eyes went wide. Gulping a bit and whimpering in panic. She shivered, trembled and crept forwards a bit only to see her pup limping back towards her. Her eyes shot open wide and she scrambled forwards," Molly!"

He was soon next to Sae, crouching down next to the limping dog watching and judging trying to determine what happened, looking for a wound. He looked up and around the street in hopes of finding the cause.

Sae was holding Molly as she sucked in a breath and whimpered softly. Her eyes were shaking and she sniffled softly. Paws were examined as she bit her lip," Someone did this to her..." Then there was a crash of glass and a clap of hands as one man stepped forwards from the shadows," Good job Sae." The man was going to just stand there and grin.

Funny how his swords had been strapped on before he left, so his hands went to them as he stood. "And you are...?" Gaze narrowed intensely on the man, the blades drawn just slightly from their obsidian sheaths.

The man bowed his head to show his pointed ear," Just a friend with a warning..." He grinned and glanced down to Saelaes," Still just as beautiful..." He sighed airily.

Blade drawn all the way, only one and pointed at the man. "What warning? I need names."

Sae stood and held onto Molly as the man spoke up," They're going to come for her. "

"Who's they? And who're you?" He was growing frustrated, he hated cryptic words, a growl issued low, fangs bared, yes he had fangs.

"I have no name... I just know that the keepers of Sae... Will come for her." He nodded softly while he sighed a bit," If she falls into their hands, she'll remember eventually what happened."

He frowned. "Keepers?" Head tilted Balyl hadn't said anything about keepers. "What keepers...?"

"The ones who sent her and Balyl away for her protection." He nodded and gestured with one hand," After all... As long as she's alive... They'll have a reason to fight..."

Brow furrowed frown grew deeper, and his blade was sheathed. "Why are they coming? What do they want?" He still held onto his weapons mind you, his emerald eyes watched with intense scrutiny, searching for any sign of foul play.

"Their cause for fighting is so that Sae is eventually found and killed." He smirked," People want her to die. Simple as that."

"Why?" His glared at the man for that smirk, blade slowly inching free of the sheath once more.

Stepping back into the shadows he left a gawking Sae and a few words," Because she represents everything they hate."
[
He glared after the man, took a step forward, then stopped, he wouldn't chase him, wouldn't leave Sae here alone, so he kept one blade free, and grabbed her by the arm, guiding her back home, glancing about the streets as they walked at a swift pace.

Sae swallowed as she clung to her dog. Biting her lip and looking around frantically. Her eyes then turned on Vrael and she whispered to him," What's going on? What was he talking about?" Her voice showing a bit more fear than she had liked to show at that moment.

"Wait till we get inside."He said as they turned down the street his mansion was on, and he quickly led her towards it. Always his eyes were on the lookout, glancing this way and that, waiting and watching, prepared.

Sae nodded and kept her silence. Her eyes going wide as she looked behind them, shaking with fear and curiosity the more the reality that they were running caught up with her. The danger was never ending, something she was so not used to. What was happening to living a simple life?

He slipped inside and shut the door behind them. Eyes went this way and that as he muttered wards under his breath, then he called out. "Jack! We need to talk!" He listened as his voice echoed down the halls, waiting.

As if by convenience, Jack did not come. He was nowhere to be seen and Sae was growing more and more confused as the time wiled away. Something was off, she could feel it.

He used a scrying spell to try and find Jack then, eyes closed as he watched the world zip through his eyes.

Jack was laying face down in the study. Blood was pooling down and around him as he gasped for breath. He was trying to come, but his loss was too great.

He ran towards the study then, tugging Sae along with him, if he made it in time he'd be able to heal Jack, he slid to his knees and stopped next to his body, whispering the healing spells under his breath, white light shining from his hands as they started.

When Saw saw Jack a scream burst from her lips and she stumbled back. Still clinging to her dog she frantically gasped for breath as she slid down into a huddled ball, holding tightly to Molly. But there were no tears just a stare in horror.

Spells of healing worked through him and into jack, mending the wound, closing them repairing damaged tissue all worked to heal. Eyes closed with the concentration as the incantations were constantly muttered under his breath.

Jack lay there looking at the man who saved his life. Pants of breath riddling from him before he coughed," They found her..."

I've noticed." He said grimly as he stood, offering a hand to help Jack up, glancing at Sae. "He'll be alright." A nod and back to Jack.

"I'll be fine, but they know she's here..." He said and looked around," Did you check the house? Are there any in here?" He asked as Sae continued to sit there, holding onto the dog as it whimpered in pain at her.

He muttered spells of healing against, these aimed at Molly, then he scryed his home, searching for intruders silently and swiftly, in a matter of seconds he had checked every room in the house three times over.

There were seven in total in his house and four of them were found in their room and peeling through Sae's things. Several bits of her work were tearing and pulling on her things, treating them with little or no care. Soon there was a scattered mess in the room.

A whispered spell, the room was filled with a poisoned gas, the teleportation pad deactivated, the windows had vanished, this was his domain, it worked as he wanted it to. He then checked on the other three.

The four were fighting and flailing to get free. Nails digging and scraping about the wall as they screamed. The others gathered what was happening in communication with the others. Soon a face mask was over them all in one way or another. They were nearing the study. All of them prepared to attack as fire burst from one's palms ready to blast the door Sae was leaning against to splinters.

And the one in front of the door was met with a blast of lightning. Then he charged out, blades drawn and a blur, he ducked low and slashed up and to the left hip to shoulder at one, then leapt back, spun and did a double thrust low stab down for one's abdomen, a spin and a leap brought legs out wide to kick at their heads in a whirlwind motion, all in a few seconds.

Sae was glad she couldn't see what was happening. Needless to say everyone went down that opposed Vrael and Sae was just staring in awe at the scene. Swallowing lightly she drew back a bit more until Jack stepped before the girl to keep her from harm.

Blades cleaned on the fallen foes clothes and he scurried the bedroom again the check on the situation with those up there, waiting to see if they had died yet if they did he'd stop the flow, clear the room, and reactivate the pad, if not he'd send an electrical current through the room.

They were all dead, that was easily seen. Sae was soon standing and turning her eyes on the man standing before her. Molly was put down so that the man snapped back and then slapped forwards. She started to scream," Don't you ever scare me like that again! Don't do it! I spend too much time worrying about you as it is Old man!" Jack was taken a back by her words and couldn't form his own.

He blinked at Sae's outburst, the room was cleared and vented, he waited for whatever they were going to say to each other to be said. Hands resting on the hilts of his sheathed weapons.

"Ouch.. Gesus Sae!" Another slap was left against his cheek and he blinked," Now you listen here missy! I promised your mother and father I'd nay let a finger touch you, but so help me, you do that again and I'll hit back!" He said, causing her to blink," So you're not some homeless bumb then." The old man gulped," No...." Sae's hand came up against his cheek in a fierce smack!

He moved over to say and caught her wrist before she tried again and pulled her away. "Sae calm down." He said quietly as he watched Balyl, then his eyes turned back to her. "There's no point in doing this, so just calm down and hear him out will you?" He tilted his head waiting for her answer.

Salaes looked at him and gulped softly. Biting her lip softly and sucking in a breath she whispered lightly," He... He... He lied to me..." Sighing she lowered her head a bit and looked to him. Swallowing, Jack stepped forwards," You're a lady of high status back where you belong, but because of that... People do want you dead Sae."

"He lied to protect you." He nodded. "It was all to protect you Sae."

Swallowing she whispered to him lightly," But I don't want to be lied to... Isn't the best way to keep me safe is for me to know the situation?!"

"Just hear him out Sae..." He turned to Jack/Balyl then and waited, still holding onto Sae.

"I can't tell her Vrael... She can't remember and I'm sure she's already or will be having flash backs... She has to remember it herself." Balyl said as he looked back to the narrow eyed Sae.

He sighed. "Fine...Sae, trust us, trust me, if we had told you, no good would've come of it, just let time work it out for you." He nodded to her.

Sighing a bit she nodded and whispered," For you Vrael... For you." Jack nodded and without a word left the room.

A hand caressed her cheek tenderly, lips brushed against hers. "Trust me." He then led her out of the room; his plans for the day had just gotten thrown to hell.

Part 5

Saelaes, the elfess, walked into the mansion stark pale. She had finally gone to work and definitely didn't enjoy what she had dealt with. Her eyes were shaking with tears, again, and she was trying her best not to show just how much of a temper she could really have. Her hair was pulled back in a fine braded and her clothes were all black, a red sash was wrapped around her neck. Small hands were shaking at her side while her fists balled up, for the first time in a long time, Sae was gritting her teeth and grinding them as she tried to calm herself.

He was there upon her arrival, swift and sure steps taken towards her, head tilted in question of the obvious signs of anger quelling within her. He moved with soft steps, he wore pale breeches, no shoes, a plain white long sleeve shirt, and the necklace he never seemed to be without.

A nod given as they neared the fountain and the main street of the market. Emeralds danced left and right in search of a good place to eat. "What would you like?" He asked after a moment of searching that yielded on results.

"Anything." She answered as her stomach growled again. Somewhere in here there was a couple about to kill each other, she could feel it. She blinked and looked around before pointing towards a elf restaurant," Never seen that before."

He tilted his head and walked towards it. "Let?s go there then." Said as he approached quietly.

She nodded and kissed his cheek. Smiling softly while he headed in that direction. Soon enough she was looking across from him at the table. Taking slow bites of her food and keeping silent. One leg was folded over the other as her golden dress sparkled in the light. Soft eyes were gazing at him contently while she whispered outwardly towards him and delivered a soft smile," Thank you for Dinner Vrael."

He nodded, chewing a bite of food and swallowing before responding with a smile of his own. "You're welcome." He was glad all had gone pleasantly so far, no attacks, no deaths, just the two of them enjoying a nice dinner.

They would enjoy this dinner and smile softly. Nibbling at her food and chewing the best she could on what she had. Soon enough it was gone and she was sipping at her water as she smiled.

He was soon finished and sipping his own drink for a moment. "Done?" He asked with a tilt of his head as he looked around for the waiter.

She nodded and smiled softly to him," Yep." Her sip coming once more and her fingers brushing at her blonde hair. With a content sigh she too began to look around the place while a young elf waiter approached them.

The check was given, paid for, and he stood, rounding the table and offering his arm to Sae when she would stand as well. "Lets go then."

A smile was offered to her, content, happy that nothing had gone amiss with the evening so far. He glanced around warily, but let himself stay calm and enjoy the evening.

Taking his arm she brushed off her shoulders and then looked back to him with a smile," Take me away love." Smiling once more she waited for him to lead the way.

He led her towards the door, and out it into the cold streets. Where, without a second thought, he scooped her back up into his warm arms as he started off seemingly back towards home, as he walked in the general direction.

Shivering at the cold before he scooped her up. She bit her lip and looked at him with a smile, her head nestling on his shoulder while she kept cuddled in his warmth.

"Where to now?" He asked as he walked down the street, past shops and stalls, ignoring the cries of good deals that came from the merchants that had yet to close up. Ignoring everything but the one in his arms.

Biting her lip she looked at all the shops and then to him. Her eyes on him for a long time while she smiled softly to him. Her fingers twirled up through his hair and she shrugged," Have any ideas in mind?"

A shrug of his own. "Not really." Only partially true, he had an idea, but he didn't want to do that yet, he had to think it through first, and make sure all worked out well, it would be quite a bit of fun when all was said and done though.

She closed her eyes with a nod and nuzzled his neck contently. Her fingers brushed at his shoulder while she bit her lip lightly and whispered," I suppose home then.." She sighed happily and curled up a bit more in his arms.

He nodded to that. "Alright, home it is." And he started off, walking this time, towards the large mansion they called home. He reached the door and his tail opened it for him while he slipped through, careful not to hit her head. Then the tail closed it behind them and they were home.

Opening her eyes she looked over home with a smile. Nuzzling his cheek before kissing it she slid from his arms and kicked off her heels," Home..." Sighing happily she rubbed the back of her neck and stretched her form out with a sigh.*

"Home..." He repeated with a nod as he walked forward, coming up behind her. Arms were placed around her neck, resting on her shoulders and he tugged her towards him, her back against his chest. His chin resting forward on his arm and her shoulder.

Gasping as she was pulled back she turned with a smile to look at him. Giggling lightly she kissed his cheek and nuzzled it a bit before whispering," I love you Vrael." A smile came from her and she turned to wrap her arms around his torso, her head resting on his shoulder in return.

He smiled in return, lips soft as silk brushed against hers then her cheek and his head settled back down. Emeralds studied her for a time, in complete silence. "I love you too." And he meant it, odd how the man who had once thought he would never say those words again, found himself saying it so easily to her now.

Smiling at those words she wrapped her arms tighter around him and closed her eyes. She kissed at his shoulder and she sighed lightly. She didn't want to ever leave his side, she didn't want to lose him ever, she was so much in love with him that her head was spinning.

Lips met hers then, for a moment, lingering then slipped away. "I have a surprise for you tomorrow." He said with a grin, spoken softly in a whisper as he held his love tighter still. He did have a surprise for her, one that he hoped she'd love.

She blinked and kissed him back while her arms wrapped around him. With a curious tilt of her head she bit her lip and closed her eyes," You always surprise me love." A smile growing on her lips before a yawn burst from her lips.

The next day, he was already up, dressed and waiting, wearing clothes similar to the ones he had been wearing the previous evening. He was glancing constantly at the platform, waiting for her to appear in the entryway with him, emeralds dancing about the room in anticipation.

There she was on the plat form, green dress covering her form while she glanced at him curiously. Biting her lip softly she looked down at her dress and the golden heels at her feet. Her hair was dangling over her shoulders loosely and a smile was weak on her lips as she stood there a jacket covering her shoulders," How do I look?"

"Stunning." He said very truthfully as he moved over to her, hand taken and lips met in a light kiss, then without a word, he guided her to the door, and out. He moved with determination, swift and sure he had to make sure this was done before anything happened, before another attack came.

Sucking in a breath at the kiss she smiled. Her eyes watched him and then she was pulled away by him. Biting her lip a bit she followed his paces nervously," What are we doing?" She asked curiously as she stayed as close as her feet could keep up with his own.

"You'll see..." They rounded a corner and he led her down a street, through a small passage that led to a large and beautiful garden, just about every flower one could think of was present, and a large marble gazebo in the middle. He led her to this, and stopped inside of it, the moment they stopped moving the air was set in twilight, stars above their head despite the fact that it was day. He reached up and plucked a star right out of the air, as it was only an illusion, he held the silver twinkling object out for her to take and he waited.

Saelaes

Date: 2009-01-10 02:35 EST
She was gaping at the garden during the day, but when it turned to night she almost yelped in surprise. Looking around the gazebo and then back to him she saw in time him pluck a star from the heavens and hold it out to her. Blinking she stepped forwards and held out her hand, taking the star calmly and biting her lip as she remained silent. Her curiosity was growing, this place was so amazing. Curious eyes turned back up to him and she whispered," This place is beautiful."

The star seemed to melt into her hand, a ring of mithril and silver, pure and elegant, he took her hand, cupping it around the ring and brought lips lightly to hers. His heart beat with anticipation as he spoke. "Sae, I love you, more than anything else in the world, I want to be with you forever, until time ends, and then after. I've brought you here to ask you one thing, one thing only. And that question is.: Will you marry me?" He spoke in the softest of whisper nervous but remaining calm outward, hope in his eyes as he waited.

Saelaes was looking at the ring before she kissed him back. Sucking in a breath her heart began to race at his words. Her smile grew and grew while tears started to form in her eyes. Sobbing out softly she spoke with a shakey voice," Silly you know I will... Yes! Yes!" She said as she sobbed freely and wiped her face tenderly. A sniffle came from her and more tears as she kissed him again and hugged him to her tightly. Sobs of joy leaving her lips as she answered him again and again with each tender kiss of her soft lips.

A smile broke out, happier than he could ever have hoped to be with her answer. Lips met each time his arms went around her and he returned each happy kiss. Each tender touch of lips was met with a smile that grew all the wider, his heart still beat rapidly, but no longer in anticipation or nervousness, but overwhelming joy.

She was still holding that ring in her hand. It was shaking with joy as she stepped back and opened it. Biting her lip she whispered," You put it in the wrong hand..." She giggled and looked up in his eyes. Sae was still shaking as her left hand lifted and waited for the ring. With a gulp she turned her eyes to look in his," I love you so much."

He took the ring, and slipped it ont her left hand ring finger, lips meeting hers again while he did this. He broke away, and held onto her hand after he had finished. "I love you too." He found it hard to explain just how much he did, but he loved her, more than he thought possible. He relayed that as lips met hers again, soft and tender in that kiss of pure love and affection. Then lips trailed away and he grinned. "Surprise you?"

"More than I ever thought possible..." She giggled to him and wiped her eyes with a sniffle. Her lips bushed his in a tender motion while her fingers trailed over his chest. She now had a glittering ring on her left hand that symbolized the union she was going to have with the one man she was getting to spend the rest of her life with. And she couldn't be any happier than to think of that.

He chuckled, kissed her in return, then again and again. Happy as can be he pulled her back into his arms, held her close and smiled in full, it had been so long since he had known happiness, and here he was, holding it in his arms.

Smiling again she finally pulled her lips from his to look around with a contented sigh. Biting her lip her eyes rested on the stars and her head tilted back to glance around at all of them," Are they all the same or are they different for each woman?"

"They're all yours." He said as he looked up as well. "This whole garden is yours." He whispered as he turned back to look at her. "Every star belongs to you, every flower and bit of marble is yours. I am yours." Lips brushed once again, a light and tender caress, fleeting.

A gasp left her lips and she turned her head back to look at him, wide eyes focused on him," All mine?!" Blushing again and gulping she kissed his lips again and smiled," You're the most wonderful dream come true... I can't believe I'm marrying a prince." Giggling and sobbing she kissed at his lips again while her head rested in his neck.

If only she knew the irony of that, her, of royal blood should be marrying a prince, he thought. He was no prince, was so undeserving of her, and still he had her, and thus, complete happiness and peace. He returned the kiss readily, willingly, and happily.

She giggled softly and looked up in his eyes while a bright smile on her lips. Saelaes murmured something to him," So if I were to pluck a star what would it do?" Her curiosity was growing again while she stood there eyeing a red one.

"Try it." Was all he'd say as he followed her gaze to the red one.

Stepping forwards her hand reached out and plucked the star casually. Biting her lip she pulled it down and rested it in her hand as she looked to Vrael.

There it changed into a bracelet made of the finest silver and mithril, set with red rubies all along it, thin, elegant, and beautiful. He smiled at that, and kissed her again. "That's yours."

Blushing she looked in his eyes as she whispered," But what if I want something for you made." She wrapped the bracelet around her wrist and locked it firmly to her.

He chuckled. "Like what?"

"Something to keep you safe while you're away... Something that will keep you linked to me." She bit her lip and looked in his eyes with a smile.

His hand reached up and plucked at a green star, he then held it out, placing it into her hand and closing her fingers around it."Think that, want that, then look at it." He said quietly as he let go.

Nodding she closed her eyes and thought good and well about what was on her mind most. Him safe and with him always. The star split in her hand and like that formed two necklaces, his and hers. She opened her eyes and looked at them, both of them gold and green strands of strong methril glittering in the twilight, hers had a heart shaped emerald at the end.

Lips met hers once again, a light brush as fingers curled around the one meant for him, he clasped it on with ease and then helped her with hers. "Now you'll always know where I am, will be able to talk to me whenever you want."

Sae smiled and looked down at her necklace. The heart had its own pulse. Biting her lip she turned her eyes to look up at him while she whispered," And you can do the same beloved."

He nodded. "I can, I'll contact you constantly, always let you know where I am, that I'm safe and coming home." A smile given in return, he could feel her now, feel her life and exactly where she was, always connected now.

?And when you get back we'll get married." She added and kissed his lips again. Wrapping her arms around his neck and tangling her fingers up through his hair. Biting her lip softly and looking up in his eyes.

He returned the kiss with a nod and a smile. "That we will. We'll get married and live on happily from there, no one will bother us, we'll be together until the end of our days, and then continue on in whatever afterlife awaits us."

Sae giggled happily and looked over at the flowers this time. She couldn't help it she was as curious as a kitten sometimes! Blinking she looked back to him," Do they do anything when plucked?"

He chuckled. "No, they're just flowers. Lots and lots of flowers." He kissed her lips lightly then. "Sorry to disappoint."

She kissed him back and smiled," I love them... This is so amazing... You do spoil me so." Whispering as she rested her forehead to his.

"I give you only what you deserve." He whispered back as their foreheads met. A smile graced his lips once again, arms held tight around her, never wanting to let go. And indeed, were it not for his upcoming quest, he wouldn't let her go. But the time was drawing near, that smile gave way to the subtlest of frowns. "I'm leaving today..."

Her eyes burst open and she turned to look at him. Tears suddenly in her eyes as her heart sank. She swallowed softy and whispered," So soon?" Sae was shaking a bit when she looked at his frown. Her head shaking a bit while she whispered," But we just got engaged?"

"I know, I had to do it before I left so that I would know you were waiting for me when I came back." A hand brushed along her cheek. "I don't think I'd be able to go if I didn't know that..." Lips met, light and tender. "For you, it'll be only a day, for me...weeks...time flows differently in the Abyss."

"I will always wait for you..." Her voice broke while she started to weep," I would have waited forever for you without all this..." She sucked in a deep breath. She pushed her head to his chest and sobbed in it. Gripping him close and shaking her head. She didn't want to lose him.

"I promise I'll be back tomorrow, if not later on in the evening, time is oh so different there..." He hugged her tight, determined that this would not be the last time he saw her. "I swear it, even if I have to kill every demon, ever fiend and imp, all the dark gods, I'll come back."

Nodding she stood up and clung to him her whisper coming," If you're not back by tomorrow I'm coming for you." She whispered, tears falling down over her cheeks.

"Don't worry, don't even plan on that, I'll be back soon." Lips met, again, a long kiss, lingering and soft. He loved her, and he wouldn't let anything stop him from coming back to her. Not even the will of the gods would stop this Tiefling from completing his quest, and coming back to his love.

He broke the kiss then, and whispered into her ear. "I love you...I'll see you soon." He freed himself from her grasp, and walked off, his clothes faded into his armor, twin swords at his sides. His wings sprouted up, his horns accompanied them as he walked around the corner, to a circle he had prepared ahead of time. He stopped and stood on it, muttered the incantation, one last look given towards his love, and then he was gone, cast into the hells of the Abyss.

Part 6

Kamin had been so furious just moments before but as he performed his cares seemed to lift away, a small crowd of people were gathered around the man, his hair in the light shined like the flames he was playing with, the people clapped with joy watching the man perform. He arched back and breathed through his fingers creating a hovering fire ball and more as began to shape and carve the flames into patterns, the sparkling inferno was hanging in the air like his marionette.

Saelaes was walking home with her guard at her side. Her eyes turned on the performance and she paused to look at the fire with a light gasp. Her brows perked up and she giggled, clapping her hands a bit and watching with amazement as she stood there. Her blue dress clung to her form and the shopping bag was settled by her feet while she continued to watch with excited and vibrant eyes.

The patterns altered their forms into flowers and sparks and at one point a small dragon, people threw coins to the small bag he had there as his pet weasel ran picking up coins and checking to see if they were real, as the red haired man began to play more and making the flames change hues as vibrant blues and dazzling reds skidded across the sky above him, and he twisted and turned his hands along with his body as if conducting a symphony::

"Salaes we mustn't linger..." The old man said while looking at the fire dancing. He kept a wary watch out for anything suspicious while the blonde elfess scooped up the shopping bag of food and nodded lightly. Her eyes turned back towards the fire and she whispered," I wish I could do things that amazing Jack..." Stepping to the side a bit and nodding while Jack placed a hand on her shoulder with a whisper," You're already amazing enough Sae."

A portal would open right in front of Sae, and he'd step out, looking grim, tired, and rather battered. Less than a day for her, weeks for him. He sighed and spotted his bride to be, a smile broke out, the first thing he'd seen in weeks that could make him so. "Hey..." He said wearily.

That bag that was in her arms was quickly trusted into Jack's arms. He oofed and blinked as Saelaes nearly screamed with delight and rushed to her beloved. Her arms were thrown around the Tiefling's neck and she buried her face in his shoulder. A day felt like ages to her as she whispered against his chest," I missed you so much."

His arms went around her in return. "I missed you too Sae..." He said softly, shaky almost, he was dead dog tired, and thankful to be home, within his first day of leaving he found their parting to be unbearable.

Nuzzling at his shoulder she sucked in a deep breath of his scent. With a light sigh she stepped back for a moment and looked up at him. Caressing his cheek with that glittering left hand she whispered," Let's get you home and in bed love... I'll make you something to eat and then you can sleep."

He nodded. "Alright..." He smiled at her and took that left hand, with it, he started off home. A nod in greeting to Jack, he then wondered if Sae had told him yet. A shrug, he'd find out soon enough.

Jack bowed his head," Future Mr. Saelaes..." He smirked, of course he knew. He followed the pair along and kept his eyes open while holding onto the bag Sae had delivered to his arms. Sae was practically glowing with her love's return.

He quirked a brow. "Mr and Mrs Kyranthisis actually." He corrected as he walked on with his love in hand. So she told Jack, eh? Emeralds darted about he was anxious to get home. And overjoyed to see her again, but he had to remain alert, ready, so he did.

Once they were at the door she turned her eyes on him as Jack remained silent," Salaes Kyranthisis... I like that." Biting her lip and blushing a bit she turned her hand over the knob and murmured," How did your trip go?" She asked curiously before opening the door slowly.

He furrowed his brow. "Successful." He said before he entered the home, glancing every which way, weary and ready for the worst to come.

Nothing did come. She guided his steps to the kitchen first so that she could feed him and make sure that he was content on that level. As they entered Jack set down the bag and dismissed himself while he bowed his head down to Vrael," Welcome home."

"Thank you." A bow of his head in return as he followed Sae to the kitchen. Nothing attacked, no enemies lurked in the shadows, a smile at that, thank the gods. He followed Sae and when they reached the kitchen he moved in front of her to meet her in a kiss, his first kiss with her in weeks, he made it last, linger and made sure it was soft.

She kissed him back and caressed his cheek. Lifting up on her toes and pulling him in close she embraced him warmly and sobbed out happily at his embrace. Closing her eyes her figure rested against his while a smile of joy grew on her lips.

He held her, taking her form into his arms and against his own. Lips stopped their dancing embrace, and he smiled again, he had done what he set out to do, had kept his promise. And would soon, marry his love, things were finally looking up for him.

Smiling against his lips she turned so her forehead was against his. Her fingers twirled in his hair and she nuzzled her nose against his. Her eyes were still closed and her other hand moved to caress at his cheek tenderly. With a soft exhale she whispered," Are you even hungry?"

"Not really...no..." He whispered in response. Head against hers, lightly, eyes closed as he enjoyed the feel that was brought up from holding her, he wouldn't let go this night. He'd hold firm for the entire evening, when they slept he'd have an arm around her, no matter what he'd be there, he needed to be.

Kissing at his lips again she nodded and murmured to him," Let's go lay down then love. So you can get your rest..." She nodded to him while she caressed along his neck. She didn't want to be let go of ever. She wanted to linger in his arms, wanted to always be there as she slept. Kissing at his lips once more with a tender graze she whispered tenderly to him," I'm so glad you're safe."

"I promised didn't I?" He asked softly, as he made to lead her away, to the platform and into the room. They were there in a matter of minutes, and he was guiding her towards the bed, all he wanted right then. Was to lay down with her, hold her and rest knowing that he had her.

Smiling to him she kissed at his lips again while he guided her steps. Her eyes gazed to his and she trailed her fingers along his neck. She murmured tenderly to him lightly," You did and I'm glad you kept it." Trailing her fingers along his neck while whispering to him," I love you."

"I love you too." He said in response, stopping to kiss her once again, another lingering touch, then he moved to lay down, boots kicked off, he didn't bother with anything else, he just laid down and pulled her with him.

Kicking off her heels she nestled her form against his and closed her eyes lightly. Nuzzling at his neck and kissing along his neck tenderly. Just satisfied to be in his warmth.

He held her, he hadn't even bothered to pull up the covers, he didn't need them. In his bed, with his love, in his house. He was content, he was perfectly alright now, let someone try to take this from him, and they'd see just how fearsome he could be.

Her form was close to his, her breath was soft and smooth as she lay contently in his arms. Nuzzling her head on his shoulder she kissed at the crook of his neck and hugged him close to her.

A feeling of warmth, contentment, peace. He lay there with her, he thought, and wondered. They hadn't began to plan the wedding. He thought they should get on that soon, he wanted it to be perfect for her.

Soon enough she was sleeping. Her head upon his chest and her fingers resting at his stomach. She was purring a bit in her slumber.

Sleeping...now he had fallen into that as well. A comforted one at that, nightmares seemed to stop, for that night at least. His relief and joy and seeing her again, that she had waited, even if it was only a day for her, had put him in a sense of peace he'd long lost hope of obtaining.
