The building needed work.So much work. But with an eternity Realin knew shed have the shop in good shape before the end of the week.

"Where do I put this." Raelin had forgotten all about the men moving her things in. There were boxes and boes to move in and here she was staring at the big open space like some zombie. "Over there is fine." She pointed to the counter, at least it looked all right.

The three men carried in box after box laying them on the floor and counter. Raelin starred at the boarded up windows and sighed. "Well time to get to work." She smiled tot he men who had helpped her and paid them each then sent them on their way.

The boxes were each labled. Some were her personal effects. Clothing, books and such. Those boxes had a big R on the top. The shop had a small loft above it,which she had also rented out. Now all she had to do was move all her things in. She closed and locked the front door, it was tall and thick and wooden. It would serve her well. Next she took the first box of her things up the small flight of winding stairs in to the loft. It was small, three rooms, the bedroom, a kitchen dinning area, and a very small bath room.

Up and down she went with her boxes. Six boxes later she tied her long chestnut hair back and walked to the shuttered window and opened it. The window was at least there and unbroken, but it was dirty. There was a small bed, a wooden desk and dresser. The bed was clean but had no sheets, she was glad shed brought her own.

The bath room was scary, it needed a serious cleaning. The whole place did. With the window left open and her boxes still on the floor .Raelin headed back down stairs. She needed to go out and get some cleaning supplies before she could dare try to move in. So out the door she went locking up behind her.

The streets were full of people. It was mid day, and the shopes were open. Many people passed her by.They looked to her then to the boarded up shope behind her .Soon she thought they'll be buying things from me. In tot he thrall of people she went to seek out a place to buyt the cleaning supllies she needed.

"Raelin, why are you leaving?" The doe eyes starred back at her. Those perfect sandy brown eyes. That cute head of curled red hair. Zarina was only seven, she was a young witchling in the care of a few elders. Raelin had come across them in her travels. "I cant stay Z, You know why."

Everyone knew of corase what Raelin was now, more than just a witch yes, she had lived a long time.Too long. Every circile she had found since leaving home knew her with out a doubt. She was more than the last of a great house of elder witches, but she had been changed to something else. You couldnt hide it, not from them. The seers on every circle or coven knew. Raelin was a vampire.

Shed been that way for how long was it now?Shed been born in 1280, the years had flow by then. It was now the 20th century. So a little over 700 years, 729 to be exact. If she counted her mortal years till she was turned that is. She had been turned in 1305. She was twenty five living in Ireland then.

Her mortal life was really a bug blur. She recalled her family being decedants of a great witch. Everyone in the family had powers of some kind. Her brothers, her sisters. The women seemed the most powerful, but ehr father had powers no one had ever seen. rae had seen them, but she never spoke of them to anyone. They were all dead now, mabye some where a great great great great grand child lived, some one to carry on the line.

Now she went from circle to circle coven to coven. Witches, vapires, were wolves, shape shifters, shed met the lot of them. She eventually left Ireland, went to France and Egland and Italy. Saw so much of history. Wars and revelutions, famon and death and decay. Her family was gone, her mother, her father both died when she was still human. She could barey recall their faces now, she knew she had her mothers features, but her fathers eyes and light hair. Three brothers all dead, all the children of the Connor odd names .

Vesper was the first born son,and he had died when Rae was seven. She had barely known him, and couldnt recall him now. Lucas was the youngest and no Lucas was not an odd name it was his middle name Eoron. That was odd. He was shy Rae recalled, withdrawn, and sick a lot. He had died in 1304 the year before she had been turned . Raelin was the second oldest ,she would have been 26 that year if she had not been turned. She had a twin brother, Skylar Tasar Connor. They had been very close, she could recall him the best of anyone, his eyes the same green as hers, yet his hair was raven black like their mothers, his features like their father.

He disappeared the year after she was turned. She sought him out, but found nothing, now he was dead, yes unless. Raelin clung tot he hope that perhaps he was alive. An immortal elder. Not a vampire but a witch with so much power that they had gained immortality.

In 1301 her mother had died, and ehr father fallowed soon after that same year in the winter. By the time she was turned everyone was gone.

She recalled the night she was turned, and the vampire who had done it. He was dead now too by her own hand.

That was why she always moved, coven to coven, cricle to circle. Some how some where shed find a place for herself.

~~

She sneezed and stood up. The floor, wall, counter tops, every inch of the inside of building that was hers was now clean. Up stairs the loft was neat and tidy shed put her things away. That ahd taken ehr most oft he day. Cleaning that room top to bottom, the bath room took some major work. But it was looking like a real home now. In the door way to ehr room shed hung a few sprigs of dill for protection. The sheets were clean and washed with allt he scents needed for restful sleep.Lavender ,Chamomile and Flax the seeds were ina small bowl resting beside a live lavender plant.

Frankincense was burning. She ahd araaiged all her personal effects. She hung a dream catcher wita piece of turquoise in her window. Sprigs of dried lavender sat by her bed. She had her own box of healing crusyals in the top drawer of that desk. Quill, ink and paper, notes for herself about the desk.

She had cleaned with as many natural things as she could orange and lemon, lime and some vinegar.

Pennyroyal she hung in a green bag here and there down stairs.
She had a few crysals and gems stones about the small desk. At the foot of the bed was her chest of magical things, amulets, old world charms, fresh and dried herbs. On trhe chest was the triple moon, or simply the goddess crest. Three moons, one full in the center and one on either side, cresents of waxing and waining.. Books millions of books, it seemed now lay here and there and were stacked on the book shelves. In the dresser she put ehr clothing, and a few things for good luck, love and protection.

Down stairs it was so clean you could eat off the floor. She had placed all her things out now, the windows would come tomorrow or the day after. But their were her fresh anddried herbs, flowers and roots. Crystals and gems of every size, color and shape. Books on magic,on herbs, history and other things. She had every thing tagged and ready to sell. Everything on the shope floor, window, and on the shelves was for sale.

The stairs to the loft were now well hidden far behind the counter and door that led to the very small working space. There she kept all the things she mght need for making new mixes, bottles,a morter and pestal, her own book on herbs., satchels and baggies of every kind. She had a few jewlery pieces for sale, basic things like crosses, the triple sprial, the triple moon, pentagrams. Done in silver and gold with gems stones and crystals. Celtic decor was every where, green , gold and silver.

"Nicely done." She smiled and let her hair down. It was dark out now. Shed been working all day. Only to stop and take a break to eat. Of coarse shed brought a few months supply of blood, pigs, goat, and a few smaller bottles of human blood she had stashed up. She also had a fridge full of food, and a good place to cook it at. But her lunch time meal had been blood. It was part of life.

Now with the darkness settling she went up stairs changed and deiced to go see what this new town was all about. She was new here, and now that she was all moved in would stay a while.

She starred at the boared windows and cursed softly. Was good help really so hard to find?Shed found no one that could tell her who sold the glass for windows. Some one had to know. But most of the people she passed were less than helpful. She hadnt gone very far to ask though, shed been to preoccupied with ideas for the store front.

So with the store door closed she busied herself with making a sign. Shed been able to find a nice piece of wood. And was slowly carving out the goddess symbol,a pentagram and a celtic cross. The triple moon was in the center, the cross to the right and the pentagram to the left None were done. But they would all be beautiful.

She would hang the sign outside from the pole that hung out over the door. That was once she was finsihed. She wasnt sure she should name her shope, the symbols seemed good enough. But not everyone would know what they meant. So she figured outside above the window she might paint the name of the store, the outside needed paitinging any how, so why not? Shed use the perfect colors to represnt her shope and herself too.

She eyed the sign and smiled. At least the goddess symbol was done. She wasnt sure why she had locked herself inside on such a day. She could be outside getting to know the city better. "Your doing it again."She told herself as she sat the unfinished sign down. "Your hidding." She shook her head and left the sign there to be finsihed later, for now shed go up stairs change and then wander about the city. Maybe shed pick some wild flowers along her way. Shed greet everyone with a smile, and soon shed make flyers so people would come to her shop.

But all in good time. She changed ,let her hair down and headed out. The bright sun met her at the door. She reveald in the sun shine, though it did sting her eyes some. Shed have to see if they carried sun glassess here, Rhydin was a new city, with many things. Shed seen some of them already, cars, and motorcycles, guns and weapons of new and swords and daggers. Along with all sorts of people, and things. Mortals and immortals and those some where inbetween. Squinting she headed out in to the market.

She was amazed to be greeted by some of the fellow shope keepers. Not that she hadnt known theyd been eyeing that new shop of hers, with no windows still. No sign to say what it was and just her a lonely young woamn working their. She was not surpised that it was mostly the men that eyed her. She waved to them ,thinking positive things as she walked. Once they were out of sight and ear shot, she snickered to herself, "It would be far too easy to hunt here, the men, they seem spell bound already." The idea made her chuckle as she walked. Shed never do that though, hunt and feed here. No not this time.

On her way through the market she found some wild flowers growing in the light of an alley way. They wopuldnt last long there so she carefully picked them all. She could dry them or save them or do what she wished witht hem. Shed the earth witha pat of her hand before continuing on down the road.

"You can't deny yourself forever Raelin." A voice from the past echoed in her mind as she fled the inn. She was nearly running down the street. The tea had calmed her but something else had awoken she wasnt sure what it was. She was used to others of her kind and others that enjoyed drinking blood, to look at her as an odd one. She did drink blood, just not humans. Not usually. But it was what she was craving now. Three more blocks, she chimed inside her head as she ran, then I can open one of the bottles and just have a little. Human blood, donated. She had only five of those bottles left, the rest of her stash was animal blood.

She recalled what most vampires she had met had told her that she couldnt keep living that way, sure animal blood could keep you going, and human food had its good points. Chocolate, fruit and such. Sweet things shed grown a taste for. But human blood, warm human blood.

She could feel it now, taste it. The hunt, the kill. She ran faster, and hurried to her shop door unlocking the locks then bolting in side and locking herself in. A deep breath, lavender, chamomile, sage. Many scents hit her at once but she was already moving behind the counter through the workshop and up the spiral stairs. Her bag met the bed and she was at the fridge opening one of her stashed bottle, she poured it in a mug and sipped a little cold, then heated it up with a tuch of magic, a pintch of cinnmon on top once it was warm and she drank it. Like it was coffee,a sip, another, another. Till it was gone and her lips were ruby red from the blood. The bottle was empty, she sighed softly rinsed it out and sat it out to dry and all but licked the mug out before washing it.

"Get a grip." She grasp that triple goddess necklace she wore and closed her eyes. The blood rushed through her, making her feel sane again. She asked the goddess to grant her some strenght.

"Was it good?" The voice came from the bedroom. She spun and saw him sitting on her bed. He was a god amoung men. He smirked at her,his features were perfect but then he was an immortal. His hair was long to his his shoulders, and the oddest shade of deep red.It almsot looked purple in the light. His eyes twin pools of sapphire blue. "Zach."

She uttered the name and he grinned. Raelin knew very well that Zach was a name hed gone by all his days as an immortal. It was a human name, fitting for those he hunted. "Raelin, come now, you know better than to call me by that name, its only fit for the humans ."He rose fluidly and walked to her, he was dressed to his best, a fine silk shirt black as midnight, and pants of a deep ash grey. His jacket slung over her small bed. He always dressed to impress.

Zaos was his real name, and he was a vampire too, and also a witch, one of a few male withces she had known. Zaos was of a great coven of vampires and a large circle of elder witches. He was old, older than dirt. But he looked no more than thrity, even to her eyes. "Zaos."She spoke his name softly and he grinned, he crossed to her and pressed his hand to her cheek. " I am here dear. When I found that you had left Zarina and the others,I followed you. A nice little place you have here. A shope all your own, some place new. "He ran his finger over her lips, and lifted it to his own, "Mmm" He tasted the blood, " you have always had good taste for humans. Been denying yourself the simple pleasure?"

"I dont hunt my potential customers." He chuckled softly. "Rae, dear, your in a city full of others of our kind, and they hunt here. You could too, just now and again.I know how you enjoy your animal blood. "He said the word with distaste, " and human food has its good points. But you know sooner or later you'll find someone you cant run from. " She eyed him.

"I saw you in the inn, how that man was watching you. You dont hide who you are very well, you might get hunted. " She didnt move she just stood there looking at him. "Why are you here?"

"You called to me in your sleep, dont you remember?" Yes she did but she didnt want to admit it. She had dreamed about him, about their time together. They had been friends, and lovers and they had hunted together for the better part of a hundred years. He knew her,he understood her. She had loved him, and he had disimess that idea, and been with others many others.

He watched her smiling. " Come let me see you." He pulled her closer and ran his hand through her long hair and sniffed at her. "Mmm so fresh and clean,so sweet." His fingers danced to her shoulders and down her arms he admired her style, a mix of modern and old. Her shirt was girly, a ajde green pesant style shirt with gold designs on the front and back. Her pants were tight, low rising and black. And she wore flat black shoes. Like those dancers wore. His fingers graced her back, and sides. "Can you say you havent missed me? What I do to you." She couldnt say that, she could feel it already that spark that rose in her when he touched her, it was more than mere magic,it was the connection they had.

"Zaos.."She whispered softly as she felt his fingers grace her sides under her shirt. He grinned at her, "Hmm, I can sense that you want me,but you also want the abilty to be with who you choose."He titled his head at her. "You may bed who ever you wish Raelin,I would not stop you. Any man, mortal or other wise be happy to have you under him.. Or better yet on top of him." He grinned wildly, as his fingers pressed higher up her sides. "Its been how long? A full century since we last saw each other." Raelin backed away and nodded shaking off that feeling, "yes and how many did you bed in that time?" He chuckled, " jealously doesnt do you any good love. I have had a few, mortals. They are so fun. But they break so easily. "She glared at him softly. "You've refused to be with anyone, even though you had the chance many times. Why? Did I ruin you for any other man? Or is it just beacuse you yearn for my touch."His fingers rested upon her neck now.

She starred at him wondering how she could fight the feelings he gave her. He smelled so good,it made her mouth water. It made her putty in his hands. She knew it was liekly he used some magic to make her lust for him,or perhaps it was just how she felt for him that made her lust after him. "I have not found anyone that suits ny fancy, mortal men can hardly accept the witch in me, and most flee the vampire. " He chuckled to that, "You need ourself a nice litle vampire, or some mix breed, maybe a fellow witch?"She eyed him on that.

"Come now," he took her hand and pressed it to his chest over his shirt buttons. His own hand egded up her shirt across the silk and lace bottom of her feminine under garment. "Let us give in, for a while." His eyed measured hers, "You can pretend I am someone else.. if you like." Raelin shook her head and took a long breath. But before she could say no, his lips were on hers. In a deep slow kiss.

She didnt fight him, it would be rather useless to try, she was strong yes,but he had always had a will of steel. So she returned the deep kiss and let his hands explore her body.It wasnt as if he hadnt done it before. He licked her lips and smiled at the end of it. " I knew you had missed me." He leaned down and softly nipped at her neck. "I am staying here in town for a while, theres a little manor in the woods, suits me well. If you like you could come and see me,tonight for dinner?"

Raelin nodded. "Alright." He grinned, "And I can see if I can help you finish up setting up your little shop." Her brows rose at him, "what would you want in return." He always wanted something. "You know me so well, well come for dinner of coarse dress you best, bring some wine maybe, and a few things, since you'll be staying the night with me." She knew what that meant. "Alright..and in exchange you'll help me find some windows, maybe get some painters here to paint the building for me?"

He nodded, "anything your little heart desires. "He grinned leaned down and kissed her again. "Say around eight,I could send a carriage for you."

She nodded. She had to agree what else could she do. He smiled nodded and with one last kiss to her lips turned and left. She watched him go and felt as if everything had just exploded,Zaos was here in Rhydin. Watching her every move, and now hed made her an offer, and offer she couldnt very well refuse.

She didnt dare go outside after seeing him.Didnt dare try to get him off her mind. But she had to do soemthing so she made a few bottles of protection and set them out after pircing them, she finsihed the sign and hung it with care. Then locked herself back inside. She wanted to be calm, cool, collected. But all she could be was worried, scared and a bit aroused.

She let the hours drip by,working on things for the shop. Then at six she tooka long soothing bath, burning incense and soaking in the hot waters. She dried her hair and searched out the perfect thing to wear. She found it. It was a short dark blue dress, with thin straps. Something more new age. She also found her best feminine attire to put under it before slipping it on. The dress came down just to her mid thigh, she wore matching shoes. Heels, might as well try to be eye to eye with him. She wore her hair down in soft falling waves.

And she tucked a rose in to her hair. She asked to goddess for strenght and protection but didnt wear her triple goddess necklace, or even her cross. No, she fished out the one piece of jewlery she had that hed given her. It was silver, and elegant, a diamon necklace. She creamed ehr skin with soft scents, and didnt dare use anything love spell realted. Then she grabbed a small jakcet and went down stairs. The carrige was awaiting her.

The driver eyed her as she came out locking the door behind her. She could hear his thoughts so clearly, he was listing after her. H ewas a mortal in the service of a vampire and he wa slusting after a vampire. How funny. He let her in to the back. Then before she knew it they were off. She watched the streets pass her by as the carrige moved, she spotted many vampires ,hidding moving too fast for most mortals to see butt she saw them, the night was full , and blood had already been had tonight she could smell it.

The lights faded and the street turned toa dirt road, buildings to trees, now she spotted other things, wolves and beasts and owls . Creatures of the woods.

When the carrige stopped and the door opened she stepped out and down on toa small path way. She followed it. It went in tot he trees and there hidden was the manor with vines growing over it.It looked old maybe as old as Zaos himself. But it was in good condition. As she enared the door it opened and a man in all black stood there. "Welcome." He said, and ushered her in. He took her coat and purse and hung them up and led her back in to the manor. She knew she was already in trouble she could smell vanilla and cacao. Roses where seen ehere and there and Damiana. She could sense it int he air too. There was a table awaiting her with a cup of tea. She sniffed it Hibiscus flower. He was really trying to lure her wasnt he.

"I hope your hungry." He came from behind, his hair was pulled back and he wore a white button down shirt and tight black pant. The shirt was undone a few buttons. He sat a plate of food before her, and poped the cork off a wine bottle. He then poured two glasses full, the glasses were dark red in color and Realin knew what the liquid was she could smell it. Blood, human blood fresh too. He smiled to her and toasted her first with the tea cup. She toasted back and drank it down, no use in fighting it.

"You look stunning."He said after he sat his empty cup down. "I had the staff prepare some of your favorites." She looked to the meal, it was indeed her favored meal, wild pheasnt cooked in blackberrie sause with a side of freshly steamed vegetables. "And after dinner desert." So that was the Cacao and Vanilla smell. "Lavish."Some how shed found her voice in all this.

He began to eat then and she followed suit, knowing him hed woven a few herbs in to the dish, to relax her and also make her lust for him more. Not that she wasnt already, he didnt need to try, she wante dhim with out all the tricks he had.

As they ate he eyed that necklace, and the line of her thoat and cleavage. She looked do die for, her long legs showing, the form of ehr body , and she smelt so good. He tooka sip of the blood to calm himself and sate more.

They finsihed dinner, and she hadnt touched her blood yet. But he knew she would. A waiter brought out desert it was chocolate cake , and vanilla ice cream , sweet and hot. Withcandied rose petals on the top. There was only one plate of it for them to share. He offered her a fork full.

It was decidant, and lush. She licked her lips after the first bute and then found herself drinking that wine glass of blood. She would feed him his butes and he fed hers to her. Soon the desert was gone. And he rose to his feet and offered his hand to her. She took it and rose.

He took her to the center of the room and danced with her though there was no music. "I am glad you came." He smiled down to her, with her heels on their was only a few inches between them. He brushed his hands along her bare arms then up then and over her back. The dress was perfect on her, it showed off everything he liked to see. "Its no wonder all my staff is thinking about you. I am glad I told them to leave once dinner was finsihed. I cant have then wanting after you.You belong to me."

"Your carriage driver had the most impure thoughts about me." He chuckled to that, "Hmm yes Richard, I figured he might. But then again.I am having some thoughts about you, can you read them?" Her brows rose at him, "you'd allow me to?" He grinned. She pressed her fingers to his chest as she sought out his mind. And when she found it, she gave him a wide eyed look.

He grinned all the more, "Now.. lets see whats in your mind." His fingers trailed over her neck down across the line of her clevage. Seeking out her mind. He smirked softly as he caught her thoughts. Leaning in he kissed her neck, then down across where his fingers had been. His left hand was at her hip, then it darted down to the bottom hem of that dress. "Come lets go upstairs." He took her hand then and led her away. She didnt bother fighting it, he had worked his magic on her, long before he had brought her here.

He led her up a wonderful stair case, and in to a large dark room. The windows had dark curtains over them and it was lit with gas lanters. Very vampire. She thought and he chuckled as he closed the doors behind them. "No need to hide what I am from you. " The bed was massive and had expensive sheets and blankets. There was a dresser, a desk and not much more in the room. He walked past her and she followed him. In the dark she could see him, but he wanted her to see him even better so he lit a few more lamps.

He then crossed to her. Slipping off his shoes and socks as he walked. She slipped her heels off and stood on the cold floor. He walked to her around her, slowly unzipping her dress. He peeled it off her, slowly his hands dancing over her skin, over the lace of her feminine attire underneath that dress. He grinned as she undid his shirt and pants and watched them fall.

He kissed her bared shoulders and along her chest before lifting her up in one fell swoop. He carried her to the bed and laid her there, and lay beside her propped on an elbow. He was going to tease her, run his fingers all over her till she was no longer tense. And that is what he did, un bound her like some ball of tightly wound string. Then he finished undressing her, and continued to unwind her. He grinned as her fingers explored his back and shoulders. Smirked to knowing those hidden sighs of pleasure were for him.

He unwound her till she was liquid. Then he sat up and reached for something. He brought out a wine glass. "Drink this my dear." He offered it to her and she eyed him with suspicion. He chuckle and drank some of the blood inside. "You must taste it." She sat up and drank a little from the glass. It hit her like two tons of bricks, it was so blinding, the blood was old, but still warm and pulsing with power. He sat the glass down a way and leaned down and kissed her red lips. Her mind swam in the rush of the blood.

He knew what she was feeling he was feeling it too. He could barely stand it any longer and leaned up and over her laying on top of her propped up. "Who's blood is that?" He grinned to the question. "You've tasted it before, but not like that." Her brows rose to him, he grinned. "Its your blood." He nodded, " I found this old witch in the forest a few years back, she said she could turn immortal blood back in to mortal blood. So I had her try it with mine. I was very powerful when I was mortal...wouldn't you say?" She nodded, "yes but as I recall your blood now is quite potent." He grinned softly. "More so now.. maybe I'll let you have some. After."

He kissed her and she didn't stop him. The moment of pleasure was there in one instant. And she cried out in pleasure. She gave in to him, and he took her as he said he would. He made her skin tingle. As he kissed and nipped at her, he even drank a little from her. Magic sparks flew between them. Held forgotten how amazing it was to be with her. Had forgotten that he loved her truly.

And before the end she bit in to him, and tasted him again. It was richer fuller, darker than his mortal blood. And it drove her crazy with desire for him. When the clock stuck midnight, she found herself wrapped around him, breathing hard. He grinned at her. "I had forgotten..hmm." He stroked her arm with his fingers. He wasn't sure he could let her go now, long ago he found it easy to play with hearts of mortals and immortals a like. But She was his other half. When she screamed his name and moaned that she loved him he knew she meant it, it wasn't the magic that mad her think it. She had always loved him. And honestly he loved her, but couldn't tell her.

When light came in and woke her she knew she was alone. But she was still in that bed.Big and plush. It hadnt been some wild dream. She rose and dressed and went searching for him. But all she found was breakfast awaiting her.

Last night had been what it was, she sighed as she sat down to eat alone. She had let herself think that maybe he cared for her. But it wasnt about that for him.He lusted for her, and she had for him and now it was done. Hed help with her shope and likely leave town.

"My lady." A tall elderly man adressed her, "Mr Zachary asked me to give you this." He held out an envelope. " And I will tell the driver when to take you home, when ever you ask." She nodded and smirked softly, human servants who called him his human name. Very view knew his real name, hed told her once it was a grave secret. She took the enevlope and nodded tot he man, "As soon as I am done with this I would like to go home." The man nodded and disappeared.

Inside the enevelope was a note. Done in his perfect hand.

" Rae,
You will find on the table before you a pouch of coins and gems and below you will find the names of some people to do the work you need done. Do not try to argue with me on allowing me to pay for it, and you may keep anything left over, call it an invetsment. ~Z"

There was no word on if or when shed see him again. But she spied the pouch of money and gems and shook her head but took it. It would be rude not to. He was rich, as many vampires were, she had money, enough to rent out the shope and the loft above, enough to buy all the things she had needed thus far. And some save money for things like clothing and personal effects. But she was hardly rich.

Once she was done with breakfast she found some paper and a quill pen and wrote her own note.

"Z,
Thank you for you invetsment and for allowing me to stay in your fine home. I enjoyed our dinner. I will contact thsoe you listed as soon as I arrive home. Blessed Be, Rae."

She left nothing of how she flet for him and simply asked the tall elderly man to give it to his lord. Then she left. The carrige was awaiting her. And she soon let ehrself be lost watching the trees pass her by.The trees turned to buildings and soon she was home again. She thanked the driver and went to the door and unlocked it and went inside. She let her self go then, exhaling and sinking to the floor.

She felt a fool all over again, it was the way she had felt man a time over after seeing him. It hurt, and she could hardly bear it she wanted to forget it, but knew that was unwise. Instead she settled in to seek out those he had recomended to put in her windows and paint the building. In time those freshly opened wounds upon her heart would heal and shed forget him.

The shope was coming together outside the men shed hired from the list Zaos had given her were paiting the building, a nice shade of tan. Shed also asked them to please paint the door blue was well if they'd be so kind. The windows had been hung with care eariler, she had to clear off the window sills and the tables,so the men could work but now the windows hung and passers by could see in as she rearragnged things just perfectly.Shed have to get some nice curtains for those two windows. That would come later.

For now she carefully watched the men paiting. Shed paint on the name of the shope above the widow ehrself, later in the day when the sun was not so bright. As it was she was standing in the shade of another building. She hadnt found any sun glassess yet. Shed been too busy.

Busy really wasnt the word for it. Shed been distracted. Now more than ever with Zaos in town. As if she didnt have enough to worry about with opening the shope. Shed made a few aquantiances at the inn, and a few other fellow shope keepers as well. She was hoping to bring them in, to look around at the very least. Herbs and spices were good for cooking as well as magic. Then there was always those who knew that some herbs and some spices could be used for medicine.

Her mind wandered to the night before. "Miss? Miss?" She blinked and realized she was being spoken too. "Oh yes?" The painter smiled at her, " were all finished." The building was now a nice shade of tan, the trim was two tones darker around the five windows, and the now very blue door .She nodded and paid the man. She was glad now for Zaos's investment as he called it. She had needed the money to buy the five windows she needed, three below on the shope floor and two above in the loft. And she had to pay the men to put them all in. And now she had to pay the painters. She also needed more things for the shope and even after paying the groups of workers she had much more money than she needed.

She watched the men go off and she stood there in the shade. "Not too bad." She watched as people walked by the shope and looked in the windows. They looked to the carved wooden sign above the blue door nd she could see they were curious. For some time she watched people look in and pass on.She caught some of their thoughts. Some knew what the store was, and liked the idea. Some didnt like the idea. Most were just curious.

Only a handfull that passed had the thought to return whent he store was open for business. A handfull. Raelin sighed, then set out to shop for the things she needed. Perhpas shed be able to find some of them in the woods. Shed set out to town first,to serach around the buidlings and maybe even inside. She had found that even at late hours of the night many of the buildings in town went unlocked. She didnt take anything that would be missed, tea bags, simple things. And usually she didnt steal them she left behind coins or gems to pay for them. And always thanked the goddess.

She hurried off in the sahde of the buidling. The sun bothered her eyes more than anything else. And until she found sunglassess shed stay to the shade or use her long hair to hide her sensitive eyes.

When she returned home again. She hung her curtains. Shed found the most lovely set,it was sage green and perfect for the front window. For the side windows she had chosen smaller off white curtains to let in the light. Shed also found many things she needed. On her walk around wild flowers and wild sage. Angelica, and aloe in the graveyard. She bought a bag of fresh apples not only for eating but for spells.Thistle which she would need to have blessed.

Dandelions, figs and oranges. Althea, which she never imagined shed find. She set all the things she needed for the store in the work room and took a few things up stairs. The apples, figs and orages she had left for herself went in to a white bowl. She put one of the aloe plants on her dinning table.

"Very nice." She mused smiling. Then to paint the name of the store above the window she went , along with a few choice symbols, the triple goddess, the triple spiral, the cletic cross and the pentagram, all painted in fine detail along the window side. In wonderful colors, and at night to immortal eyes those colors would glow and invite. She painted lovely little leaves about the window as well, along with roses. Soon it was more than just a tan building soon it had her own art upon it. Shed had years of study with art and magic, and her art flowed with power like her magic did. "Perfect."

As soon as she was done she opened the store.

"Thank you for coming." The morning was busy. Customers at last, it was her first offcial day open. Shed been open at night already, shed had a few sales to a few vampires the eve before when she returned to the store. She didnt sell blood, but she did sell things they liked. They were rather modern vampires, more like herself, those who part took in blood but enjoyed a fine real meal as well.

Zaos had been there the perfect business man the whole time, playing as if he too was shopping around. But now, he was gone and she tended to a dozen humans, and one elf. They bought spices and herbs for cooking mostly, there was one healer amoung the mortals looking for aloe and Balm of Gilead Buds. And the elf bought the most things of all. Raelin would have to find or buy a few more things before tomorrow, shed have to close up shope tonight and go looking. Zaos would come by she was sure, help her out. Knowing him hed appear with everything she needed and more.

She worked through the day, selling herbs and spices, and once in a while someone claiming to be in the art came in. It was never hard for Raelin to tell who was apart of the magic and who wasnt. Shed only seen two real witches. One bought Angelica,Anise Star Pods and Arrowroot powder. The other bought one of the hand made triple goddess necklaces with a lovey polsihed piece of Jasper as the full moon along with a bag of almonds. Raelin smiled and thanked everyone, and wished them well. Blessed be and Merry Meet. She had said those words a billion times, and they were painted by the door way.

A few people came in asked questions looked around and left. No one stole anything,of this Raelin was sure.

She enjoyed the work she found. It made ehr feel so happy to help others even if it was only for cooking. Perhaps there was no place like hers, she knew their were stores that sold magical books, and weapons and even some that sold magical clothing. But she had not seen anything like her shope. It was one of a kind, like her.

By mid day shed made a good profit, good for rent and for a few choice things for herself. She'd use Zao's investment to restock the things she needed. She imagined that if he stayed here, that he would be a constant inverstor. He had money to burn. Centuries of it. She chuckled at that.

When a few children dashed inside ehr store she watched them .They were wide eyed and when their mother came in calling them out Raelin mealy smiled. "They were no troble at all here." She ffered them pieces of candied rose petal. "On the house." The mother at first shook her head but after the children pouted she gave in Raelin offered the candy to her as well. "Blessed be." The woman smiled took it and ate it, and Raelin saw that smile on her face as she left children in toe.

She had found it odd that most of the patrons had been women.Shed only seen a handful of men, one came in looked around and went, one stayed a while but didnt buy anything. She was sure she might have missed someone, she might need more help. Zaos was not that willing, he would come at night yes, but he did not like the day light, it bothered him. He could walk in it, but he said he was a night person period.

She could see him now almost hidding away in his manor with his servants. She smiled softly, they were very different but so much the same .

The day went by, and as the hour grew late fewer and fewer patrons walked in to the store, as the sun dipped lower it was those of the night who looked in the windows, lycans, vampires and mixed breeds, they looked in but didnt enter. Raelin welcomed everyone, no matter what. But they had to abide by her rules or else. By the time the sun was done, no one had passed by the shope, so she went to close up.

She closed and locked the doors and went upstairs.

She hummed the whole way up,smiling as she stepped in to her room.
When she turned to her bed she saw a note. A perfectly folded note on her bed. Nothing was out of place but that. The window was still open just a crack nothing that anyone could hope to get in, the front door had been locked, and the building was protected, she had made sure of that. She looked around, sniffed the air. No one was here, but some one had been here when she was busy. Zaos. She walked slowly to the note and lifted it.Looking at the perfectly folded off white paper. It was birch paper how fitting.

And written in his fine hand were a few words. One fluid sentance. "Meet me at midnight in the garden the dead. Z" She knew what he meant, the graveyard, at midnight.

She wondered what on earth he wanted to see her again for. Uusally he was all business, money , sex and not much more.Maybe a good hunt now and again but he knew she wouldnt hunt, not here. If she had to shed go miles away to find humans willing to give her blood, those who she could charm with magic or those vampire powers of charm. The Trawl. How was she to prepare to meet him, it was hours away but still.

She busied her self with putting her goods away.

It was staring to get dark. Those newly painted symbols started their iviting glow. The street lights came on, and people were slowly leaving the market place for the inns and taverns and home. Not many lurked in the market at night save for those of the night. She worried not of them, and went inside and locked the door, and pulled the shades, the shope had protection. Layers and layers of protection. Zaos had gotten by it with his own spells. Most others would not be able to sneek so easily in.
She decied to shower and change before going to meet Zaos in the grave yard. She wanted to smell nice,to look good for him.

Even though she knew better than to long for a hope of romance. She changed in to something dark, better to belnd with the night. She didnt like wearing all black it was too cliche, so along with her black shoes ans sleek pants she wore a ash grey top. She wore her hair down and placed a soft white wild rose in to her hair. She put on her triple goddess necklace and her silver earrings shaped like little moons. Then headed down stairs.

She went out locking the door and placing a small protection spell to the door and windows themselves, layers of protection, at night always layers. Then with a stiff nod to herself she headed away in to the street.

The streets were dark. Even the lamps did not provide much light. Midnight was close. The bell of the clock in the far corner of the market ticked away. She could hear it, she could hear everything. The rustle of leaves, the foot steps of a paniced human running indoors. Those who hunted, lycans and werewolves and vampires. They hung out here at night, in the alleys on the roof tops waitng to strike and those who hunted them as well. She was carefull very carefull to appear human. Hurrying along the road, darting in to the light and out of it to the next.

Soon the market and those who hunted there were behind her and she had but a few streets to hurry down before the graveyard came in to view. She knew he was there ,she coulld sense him. Then she saw him back lit by the cresent moon. In ash grey his hair lit up that odd shade of purple in the moon light. She found herself hurring more to be at his side. Drawn so easily like a fish caught on a lure.

"Right on time." He spoke with out turning to see her there standing in the garden of the dead as he had called it. "Zaos." He was smiling she could just tell, even with out seeing his face. "Hello dear," now he turned to face her, "thank you for coming to meet me." He offered her his hand and she took it. He was back lit by the moon, and she could se how powerful he looked, his eyes glowed, not only from the moon but from the magic he behled and she knew he had fed very recently. She knew what he saw when he looked at her, her hair lit up by the moon like a chestnut fire, her face a glow, her eyes bright wild and green. "You look lovely, as always." She blushed softly, "your far too kind to me."

"I speak the truth. I asked you here for a reason." Raelin could think of many reasons he might want to see her again, had the blood made him lust for her again? Was he bored?Or looking for information perhaps? Or had he come to say goodbye? They were never much for goodbyes, he came and went like the wind. Sometimes she went, leaving him and all they had shared behind, in hopes of forgetting, but she never could.

"Raelin,"He looked down in to her eyes, "tell me why are you here?" "To start over again, some where I am unknown." He touched her cheek, "is that what you really wish to be unknown, is that why you left Zarina and the coven?Or why you left all the others?"

"I.." He knew her too well, he knew why shed left all those times.Him.

"Its me isnt it? It seems you always would leave after I arrived or before.."He looked distant now,his eyes looking off to the moon. "We've known eachother a long time." "600 years." "607 years, it was 1402 when we first met. I remember it so well , you were young then 122, and I was nearing my 300's ."He smiled softly. " You'd lost your sire, your family, everything was gone and you'd found my house, my coven my great circle of night dwellers. Vampires and witches the most of us, a few others of mixed kind. "

"Ahh yes, Circolo degli abitanti della notte, the circle of night dweelers it was in Italy then." He smirked to the name "Its just The Circle now. And its still based in the old world. How you and I came to ber here, is beyond me." "I have heard of a magic a power here they call the nexus, it seems to draw people in from all times, new and old. Where were you before you came to be here?"

"At home in Italy in the villa, you remember the Villa dont you? The great wine, both of the grape and of those willing. It had changed some like the rest of the world, time moved on,the coven, the circle.. remained the same. We gained and lost a few, to hunters and those who wished to move on. Then one night I went for a walk and suddenly I was here. In that manor, with everything from the villa save for the wine. All my servants came with me. What ever power it was."He gazed to her, "It brought me to you."

"You haven't changed." She giggled at that,, "I am an immortal. "He smirked, "No no, I mean your you, sweet and kind and soft. Your the same as you always were. You once said you did not recall much about your life, that the turning had washed over it. "He touched her cheek. "Yes,I recall some of my mortal years, some what of my family and my home. But the process ,in it I forgot. "

He nodded, "so young, he turned you at the prime of your life." "I'd be dead now with out it. I hold no ill will to him." "You still blame yourself for his death?" She nodded, "the hunters were after me, not him. Azrael was not their traget that night." Zaos brushed his fingers through her hair, "they are the ones who burned him , not you." "I ran." He sighed, "If you had not,I would have never known you."

" I asked you to meet me for a reason. I must tell you something, before it is too late. " Her brows rose at his words, he sounded as if he might be gone at any moment. Immortals had time, they had nothing but time. There was never too late for anything. Least not within their own circle. Mortals died and passed on, but unles skilled immortals had nothing but time.

He looked off to the moon then back to her. This wasnt the place to tell her no. "Come with me." He didn't really ask, he knew shed come, his hand clasp hers and he headed over the low wall and out of the grave yard, away from the death. Death was always with them, immortals or not. He had her follow him closely, till the city was out of sight and woods surrounded them. This was more fitting.

She followed him with out a backward glance. Her hand tight in his as they ran,all the way out of town in to the trees. When he stopped she took a breath at last. He turned to face her and took her other hand in his. "Raelin. I know what you must think of me.I come in to your life and I have not been the best of friends.I have used you at times.Lusted for you. " She nodded, she could not would not hide the truth from him not now. "That is your way." He chuckled half heartly. "But every time I left, every time.. I deampt of you, I wanted to be with you when I was with so many..thats why I always came back." She blinked, was he really saying this?Or was she dreaming? She couldnt pintch herself so she bit her bottom lip hard.No it was no dream.

"Raelin. " He breathed her name. He was so close now, leaning down ver her,his hands upon her cheeks. His eyes twin pools of sapphire starring in to her soul. "I must tell you something, before I loose the nerve." He was having trouble telling her something, how odd.

"Zaos, just say it." Was it to much to hope that he cared for her, or was he just trying to be kind and say goodbye for good. "I am in love with you Raelin." She heard the words and felt the world slip away, that dizzy swirl. She was a spirit in time, looking down on herself.

"Raelin..Raelin..." It was only then she opened her eyes to find she had fainted, she was laying in the grass and he was holding her. "Are you alright?" She nodded softly. "Yes, I fainted?" He nodded, "I tell you I love you and you faint." She couldnt say 'I forgot to breathe', she didnt need to, there was no need for air, it was merely a nice thing to have the sense of smell. "I was shocked. I still am." He helped her to sit up. "I know, you must think me so evil for telling you now after what I said.." "You said I could bed any man I wished? Are you jealous? Is that why your telling me this?"

"No, no ..I meant that, you can bed any man you wish, any man be lucky to ave you as his lover, or beloved.. I am telling you because it is the truth. I promise you." She eyed him softly as she sat up more. She was lost in thought all over again.

"Raelin.. what are you thinking?" She gave him a head tilt, "can you not hear it? " "Do you wish me to?" It would cut out the need to babble on and on so she nodded. And he listened to her babbling mind. Aftera moment he chuckled and kissed her. "Turn off that busy mind Raelin." The kiss had nearly turned it off already. "I have known how you have felt for a long time,it just took longer than it should have for me to come around. So.. there it is."

"I do not know what to do with this information. What do you expect from me?" "Nothing, if you don't wish it." "But I.." "You love me yes I know, but I am not looking to tie you down. And you know how much of a free spirit I am.. but I do love you." She nodded back to bitting her lip.

They were walking now under those trees. She took in the scent of pine. The way he looked at her as they passed through beams of moon light. They were night creatures, and the beauty of the night could not be denied. Not a word had been spoken. The only sounds were those of the owls, the soft breathing of sleeping animals. The soft padded foot steps of wolves and bears as they stalked the night.

They were alone. Only the forest and its beauty. He had chosen this place well, no other immortals no other night wanderers. She didnt have to wonder what he was thinking, he freely was allowing her in to his mind. She had offered him the same courtisey. Her mind was still racing with thoughts. That was until his fingers brushed along hers.

"You wont have to give up anything. We can stay as we are, you with your shope and me in the manor. And you may come to me and I to you.I will not stop you from seeing other men. "She chuckled, " and you will take other women?" He shrugged, "perhaps, but it is you I love. "He stoped in his slow walk to face her.

The light came down around them. Time seemed to stand still. Raelin had wished for this moment for so long. The idea of being together with him for ever washed through her mind. They were immortals and they did have eternity. Her mind was racing again, but his hand came through her hair. Then they rested upon her shoulders. "Relax." He chcukled, "we don't need to think about forever, just now. Live in the now like mortals do, they have gotten some things right."

"Thank you and blessed be." The store kept her mind busy, the contsant. Patrons coming in,returning customers and new ones as well. Business was booming it seemed. Shed have to double her invetory. She rang up sales and helpped people with their chocices. She knew to human eyes she appeared nothing more than huamn, but to the trained eye they could see her for what she was. Only a few had figured it out. Scent, and sight. They had found her some of her kn, both vampires and witches. As well as others. Mixed breeds, lycans and the whole lot.

She was warm to welcoming to everyone who came in. She sold spices and herbs to cooks and doctors. Salves and balms to healers. Good of the trade to fellow withces, and a few things to a few of the day walking vampires shed seen. One she ahd seen wore a pair of sunglasses, she sought himout and asked where he found them. He smiled at her and told her where ina smooth voice. Shed seek those out later for sure. Better than a damn cloak, cloaks were for winter.

She loved the sound of people coming int he shope.Looking arounf. She loved to answer questions abut herbs and spices. She loved how the children who came in ooed and awwed at the little magic show she put on for them, floating candles and such. All the work got her mind off Zaos, for all of two seconds before shed think af him again.

Would he be there tonight? Would he walk through the door? She kept the pace up, helping customers. Those who figured out she was a vampire didnt seem to mind it much, she was not like many of her kin. In fact she hadnt ever been much like them. Though she enjoyed in a good hunt, she had always been very carefull. Shed never ransacked whole twons or killed whole familys. And she didnt hunt here, no she went tot he woods for her animals, just like any hunter. And when she needed human blood for orders or herself she went miles away, where no one would trace her back to Rhydin.

She worked through the midday hour. Humming along to her own songs. As the day grew longer she eyed the sun. It would set soon and shed be off to deliver a package. Shed not told Zaos about it, hed want to come with her. In fact she knew she should close up early. And so she did, selling the days last herbs before closing up, she then prepared the box , all the things ordered with in it and grabbed her coat and headed out in to the shinking day light for the coast.

Raelin

Date: 2009-08-26 17:18 EST
When she returned from the coast it was late. She hurried to her shope and inside. No Zaos. She had not seen him not since the night int he grave yard, that moon lit walk in the forest. Had he lied to her? She had loved him for a long time. She felt a fool for loving him still.

She knew him too well to trust in it. He was a creature of habit and she, she was already heart broken. She had traded one man for another. Seeking solace and friendship. Not many had she met, very few of her own kind had she bothered to get to know. But a favor done in terms of the shope, and a friendship was born. Raelin wasnt quite sure what to do. He was not from here, but neither was she. He was a lord, a man of some money and dark history. But what immortal didnt have a dark past. He was of mixed blood, not that she minded that.

She readied for bed and starred out the window. Zaos was out there somewhere, and she was alone. Why was it so hard? She paced to her bed and sat down, the light still burning bright. Tomorrow shed take the day off, go out of town , for supplies and blood. She had found a good source for it after that order. Her mind wandered . She felt an utter fool for trusting in her heart again. Zaos would only break it, he would get bored.

And although she hated to admit it she was lonely.

She eyed the necklace she had worn to dinner with Zaos. She would not cry over him again no, she would not. She would settle in to bed and dream of something better.

Raelin

She left town before the dawn came. She headed out back tot hat good source of blood. Humans were easy to find, and some were very willing to give ehr whats he wanted. She wouldnt kill them. No through magic and power of the trawl she convinced them to give her their blood, some she took for herself, some she took to make blood wine, and some she took to sell. She was what she was, she wouldnt deny her nature.

She had also gone to fetch some animal blood for her own stock, as well as herbs and flowers. But she was never expecting to be found. 'Every vampire must be carefull, watch their back. ' Her sires words echoed in her mind as she picked wild flowers and folded them in fine cloth. She watched the woods. She was miles from Rhydin, miles from any where where she had been seen and known. She had filled ten bottles full of human blood and ten of animal. She had wasted nothing, shed use the meat as well. Shed always been carefull. But she knew that hunters were real, she knew all to well.

Azrael had been many things to her, a friend, her sire, her teacher. In many ways a father for her. He was an elder when they met.She recalled thta night of her mortal life so crisply. It was raining and she was heading home. Her family was thinning, her mother was sick. They had lost Vesper when she was seven. Lucas had been sick on and off his whole life. Then there was Sky, he was waiting for her that night out in the darkness. Shed gone to ftech medicine.

But whens he returned she found she was too late, her father was sitting at the table,Lucas at his side.Sky was crying. Her mother was dead, the year was 1301, and she met Azrael then, he acted as a priest, yet he looked so young to her eyes. It was a long hard road after that, she could barely recall, but she knew her father followed her mother that winter. She knew now that hed taken his own life. It was just she Lucas and Sky now. Raelin kept them together, kept them all strong, she worked for the local shope she recalled how it smelled of herbs and cooked meat. But for all her magic she couldnt save Lucas, he died in 1304. Azrael was there again, both when her father died and when Lucas went. Just she and Sky.

But then the night came, it was spring 1305. The sun had just set and she was on her way home. Azrael came out of an alley way. He scared her at first. He said he needed to see her at the abby. She wanted nothing more than to go home to Sky. But he was a priest and she could not have denied him then.

The pain was slight. The world had faded away. The taste of copper, one moment foul then the next the best thing shed ever tasted. No longer like copper but like a fresh wine. Robust and full of life.

"Open your eyes and see the world." His voice was like velvet over glass. His features so crip, dark hair and eyes, olive skin. He smile was saweet, and kind and yes she found him handsome. But he was her maker. She knew that now, what he was what he had done. Azrael had claimed to be from Italy born in the 800's . He didnt look a day over thrity. Even to her new eyes. He told her that she was still as she always had beena witch born of great blood. But Raelin couldnt recall that blood now, some how it had been all lost save for Sky. Her twins face played in her mind. Hed be looking for her. But Azrael expalined to her that they were no longer in Ireland. And that Sky was gone. He was all she had.

And so he taught her the way, the hunt the kill. The seduction. Everything, and most of all how to advoid hunters.

The wild poppy slipped from her fingers as she blinked. She was there in the field thinking too much of the past Az was dead. Hunted down and killed by hunters, hunters she had led right to him. She had been marked for death not he. It was too late to regret.

She wrapped up her flowers and started for home, it would be dark by the time she reached the market.

The street lamps flickered and she hugged her bag closer, the cold didnt bother her but she wore a jacket any how, to appear more human. She walked quickly but no so quickly to draw attention. She heard soemthing, and saw five men hanging out in an alley way, theives she thought. She gripped ehr bag closer and hurried in to the light of the market.

They followed her though. She could hear them, their foot steps. She didnt have much money on her, she could drop it and run for the shope. She searched for their thoughts at first she found nothing. Most theives had very impure thoughts about women at night these men were no thieves.

Click, click, click. Ping. The sound hit ehr before she knew what it was, an arrow hit the ground by her feet and she turned to see their faces, five men, one very young. A blond man older, perhaps the leader, he was the oldest. Two had dark hair brown or black. One had tawny hair the color of tan sand and then there was the boy young and red hair, like fire. Two had cross bows, the rest armed with daggers or swrods, and crosses. How funny she thought. Sh wore a cross too about ehr neck of silver, did they see it or did they just see her. A vampire, alone. They came at her again quickly, shots were fired and she ran. She wasnt armed, sacagger in her purse and what magic she beheld. The first shots bounded off the cobble stones. She ducked the next ones, she could hear the leader yelling at them and taking the cross bwo for himself. He shot and the aim was true. But it hit her arm, going through anf through. She cried out in pain and hissed looking back at them with wild eyes.

Magic stirred in her as she felt blood drip down her arm. Another shot, another hit to that same arm, higher up. She cried out again and then let them have it. They were hit with a blast of wind as icy and cold as the hand of death. Four were blown back by it but the leader got one more shot off, this one hit higher still right through her shoulder. But that just angered her more and he got a taste of her goddess given powers over fire. He ran away yipping caught in flame.

She watched them all run off and made her way to her door and opened it. Locking herself inside she lowered her bag to the floor and winced. Shed have to take the arrows out one by one. She had spied in tot he youths mind, she knew how they knew what she was. They had seen her. Careless she thought.

After the thrid arrow she tooka long swig of blood. Her arm was a bloody mess. She trated each wound with salves and then wrapped her arm in a long simple white cloth. The painw as so immense she had to take a tonic for it. She barely had the enegry to clean up the mess she had made before she lay on her bed and gained some rest.

She woke in the day light and hissed to the sun coming through her window, she rose and pulled the shade. The shope would stay closed today. She wouldnt work like this, she eyed the bandage now blood covered. Time to wash and treat her wounds.

She wondered how many had heard her cries of pain as she cleaned her wounds. No one had heard her last night so it seemed. More slave and another bandage. She would make them pay, that much she was sure of. She had dont nothing, killed no one.Not even hurt anyone. Those she had taken from healed and lived on. And they had given to her willingly. She was not some tryant killing every soul she crossed. She saw her reflection in the mirror. Her green eyes intense and glowing.

Intense.Powerful. Dangerous.

If Zaos knew of this hed seek them out and kill them himself. But he was not here was he? Hed not been there for he as he so promised. Again a tonic for the pain and some bloodwine. She sat yhere through the day, letting her body heal, and then shed risk going out to find some more wine, and some solitude perhaps the hall again.

But that would be later for now she closed her eyes sitting on her bed with incense burning to gain back some focus. She was angry not only at the hunters but at Zaos. Anger wasnt any good for focus.

She knew she wouldnt sit there, she knew she wanted to hunt to act to kill.Or worse. It was not her narure.No. She took a breath. Justice would be her's one way or another. She knew many curses and hex's but would not risk them now. No she wanted to watch them cower. Yes. that is what she wanted.

It was far past time for her to take charge. That attack had pushed her over the edge.

It was surpising.Very surpising. In one moment she had loved him. And he had told her that he loved her. And in the enxt she didnt see him or hear from him.And now shed been attacked. And Zaos, he was gone.Like some storm that came in to ehr and wrecked her heart and soul then left.

She was glad for the new friendship she had made. It was an odd friendship. But she had felt at ease enough to let down her guard with him. They had enjoyed nights at the inn and hall, enjoyed talking of magic and their histories. No matter how dangerous he was she felt oddly safe there. She had not told him thus. He flattered her with his kind words. She knew that face he took was only a mask, to hide what he really was. Something of mixed breed, a werebeast and vampire along with something else in his blood.

She had felt it now, after that blood link. He had vowed to hunt down the hunters for her and return their hearts to her. He had power,he used dangerous and dark magics. But to each their own. She was no less dangerous, she had just evolved a moral center about killing people. But she didnt care if others killed mortals. Vampires, and lycans and dark magaians will be as they are. She wasnt going to question them or dare step in to save the poor mortals.

She took some comfort in that danger. She had liked the idea of getting those hunters hearts, and watching them burn. She took a little too much comfort in his kindness, and sweet words. In his touch and yes in that kiss. He had asked, how odd. Many would not have done the same. But she had wanted to kiss him.

She liked the way he said her name. It wasnt right of her she knew, and foolish most likely. But she wondered what was more foolish. Being in love with Zaos? Or moving on? The score against the hunters would be settled. She trusted Kanaas to follow through on that. She didnt care how he did it. She owed him, and she would repay him some how.

But now, now was not the time for that.No now, she was setting off to track down Zaos and get some answers.

The manor stood quiet and silent. As it had when she first saw it. The carriage was gone. She walked towards the door, past the trees. The air was clean the smell of pine and wild flowers. The sun was dipped low, hitting her back. She had dressed for this, in that sleek black dress. She wanted to show him what he would be missing.

She was ready to pound on the door. But it opened and there stood the elderly man that was his servant. He looked horrible. His face was covered in blood. "My lady.."He breathed once then fell over Raelin watched as he fell. He was woudned, mortally. Through his back a stake of wood. Hunters. She froze. Shed not brought any weapons with her she handt even bothered to bring her bag, shed left everything at the shope. All she ahd was ehr bare hands and her magic. There wasnt a sound. Not a breath. She sniffed the air, blood. Human blood. There was Richard the carriage driver around the corner from the door, his head was gone.Chopped from his shoulders. She held her breath, death was nothing new. But the scent of human blood was rather tempting. She knew this was a trap. She could feel it.

She wandered down the hall, two women dead.Servants, maids perhaps. Stripped nude and killed violently. She knew what the hunters had done to them before they were killed. She passed the empty bedrooms. In to the kitchen. More blood, the cook dead. His body haning from the rafters. She walked slowly ready to fight if she needed to. She pushed open the door to Zaos's bedroom. It was empty. No blood no ashes.Crosses hung every where.

"I knew youd come." She spun Zaos stood in the door way, his face covered with blood. He was smirking those fangs glissing. Shed seen him this way before. Mad with hunger. She realized then that he not hunters had killed his staff. "Zaos." He chuckled softly and walked towards her, Raelin backed up,looking for a weapon. "What have you done?" He smirked, "I've killed the lot of them. " There was something in his eyes,a strange glow.He was under a spell. "Zaos its me, its Raelin." He grinned wildly. "Oh I know you. They said If I drew you here I could live, they said I could have any one I wanted, that i would never want for you again."

"Who? Who did this to you?" She spyed a candle stick, made of gold on the table. She edged towards it slowly. The room worked in ehr favor, the window was open Zaos would never risk sun light. "The hunters, they came to me. They had a witch with them, she did wonderful things to me. Things you never did. She promised me that I could live if I brought you here. They have been waiting for you." Raelin dared not to breathe. The hunters had a witch? And she was willingly doing their bidding? "Zaos,please.."

He grinned at her coming closer. "I dont want to hurt you." He didnt stop his shoes edge din tot he sun light. She knew then he wouldnt stop, she reached for the candle stick and swung it at him. Her aim was true and once he was on the floor she ran. But he soon rose and followed him. He was at the same pace as she was,the next thing she saw was the wall.

He pinned her to the wall. She wasnt easily broken at the very least. "I have to bring you to them alive." She struggled and flicked her power at him, fire. It burned his hands and tore away from her. She ran again, runnign till she found that elderly servant by the door she ripped the stake from his body, bloody and held it up just as Zaos came at her again. "I dont want to kill you. " He kept coming, "But I will. You;ve been posioned by magic and words, the hunters wont let you live. They wont live long any how. "

"Yes, yes your little friend.. "She started back through the open door. "Do you care for him Raelin?" She backed in to the light that stake in her hands. " He is my friend." Zaos chuckled. "Do you kiss all your friends?" She was taken back a bit by that. She was working on rasing a barrier to keep him there. She didnt want to kill him. She was angry at him but udnerstood now it was out of his hands.

As the barried rose she saw his eyes shift back to normal. "Raelin..."He fell to his knees and leaned against that barrier. "You have to kill me." She shook her head, "No..I wont." He looked to the woods, she followed his gaze she was being watched, she saw her a small slight female smirking. "Raelin!" Zaos was suddenly through the barrier. And six small darts hit him along his back. "Zaos.."

He had flown in to the path and in to that stake she still had but the stake had missed the heart. " I am sorry my dear, I tried to fight her. I do love you.. she over took my mind. "He was breathing hard. "Zaos.." He looked to the woods and rose slowly blood seeping from his back and chest. "I will be alright. But you must go." "No..I wont go."

"Raelin,Raelin.."The female voice came and the moment Raelin saw her she growled. " Jeardra." The woman smirked and headed out of the shaodws, she was short, no more that five foot. Her hair was long ,strands of blonde that were so pale they appeared silver. Her eyes were silver grey like cold steel. She was an elf. And older than Raelin. Shed known Azrael. "Always the same Raelin."

Zaos was behind Raelin now, ripping out those darts. "Zaos, go get out of here now." He started to argue but when Raelin looked at him he left running through the shade. Shed find him later. She knew if he satyed that Jeardra would get to him again, and Raelin couldnt take them both on at once.

Jeardra was a powerful witch, she possessed botht he magics of a witch and those of the elves. She had always worked for the highest bidder. "Your hunter friends will be dead soon." Jeardra shrugged, " looks like they got you though." Raelin had almost forgotten about her arm.

"They were merely pawns. I knew if I got to Zaos I would get to you. Hes a wonderful lover. "She smirked. " But you know that already. I was hoping we'd face off again. But now is not the time. "She then disappeared in to the mist .Raelin wondered what she meant but then she saw them Rhydin guardsmen, they must have been called out, likely by Jeardra herself. Raelin ran then in to the trees to track down Zaos.

Jeardra was here that was a dangerous thing, shed have to warn a few vampires of her coming.

She found Zaos hidding a corpse of oak trees hidding in the shade. "Zaos.."She ran to him. "Are you alright?" He nodded, " the magic she had over me has faded, and my wounds will heal." There was still blood on his shirt. "I am so sorry."

He shook his head, "I am sorry. "He brushed her hurt arm, and took her hand in his.. " I didnt lie to you, I do love you. But .."There was always a but. "I cant stay here now, not with Jeardra here. "Raelin nodded. "I am going to try and find a way home. Will you come with me?" She shook her head, "No I will not run. Jeardra is one fo the ones resposible for the hunters finding Az. I will not let her live."

He nodded and kissed her once. Just once, one short slow kiss."Then this is goodbye." She nodded, she loved him and would miss him but she knew he had to go. "Maybe one day."He began then shook his head. "I will love you for the rest of time ,dear Raelin. " She nodded, she would love him for that long as well. He realised her hand and headed for the next groping of trees. Then Raelin heard it. Click,Click ,Click.

She snapped her head around looking for the archers. There was no one there. "Zaos! Wait!" She ran after him. Ping. Ping. She heard the shots. She heard his cry of pain, he had gotten to the next grouping of trees just varely beyond the sun light. As he turned to see her she saw it an arrow hit him from behind and went through the heart. "No!" She ran to him, time seemed to move so slowly. She was inches away, and reaching for his hand.

Then as if by magic the light came through the trees. "No!" His fingers didnt even touch hers and he exploded in to ash.

The wind blew the ashes away and the only thing of him left behind was that cresent moon pendant he always had worn. The symbol of the coven they had both once belonged to. She lifted it up and felt those tears glide along her cheek. Then the sound came again, click, click ,click. She rose and ran, ran as fast as she could before the ping sounded. Arrows hit the trees as she fled in to the day light. No one followed. She clasp that cresent moon pendant in her hand and walked alway back to town, tears streamed down her face.

She arrived back at the shope and locked herself in. He was gone, dead. And no spell could bring him back. He had not lied to her, he had been posioned. She sniffled and kissed the silver moon in her hand. She then hung the chain from her neck. Jeardra would pay ten fold for this. Pay with her life, even if Raelin had to die to get the job done.

The time of pain and sorrow was hinted with little lights of hope.Like stars in the black sky. In one moment she had lost everything she had left. The one person that had known her for six hundred years. He was dead. Ash. She had wondered for a long time as she sat awake in bed what it would be like to really die. Was their a heaven for them?Or just hell? Would she die by a stake to the heart as well? Not more than ash for the wind. Even when peace of mind came,it was lost quickly.

Peace is never an easy thing to find, and harder still to hold on to.

She had returned to the shope,it was mid day now and their were customers waiting, she tended to them in hopes of forgetting the pain of lossing a friend. Zaos had been more than that, hed be a lover and companion. He'd known her, every inch of her body and soul. He'd know her power, her grace. He had stirred her unbeating heart. She tended tot he customers, trying not to think of it.

Sorrow came and went. The eve before she had not felt much sorrow. She had felt so much peace on the isle of twilight. Looking up at the stars. She had shared some of herself with someone else. Someone who also stirred her. She blsushed even now to thinking of it as she rang up the customers in line. He was dangerous, dark and harsh. Yet he was never harsh to her,but sweet and kind. And she had said yes to his request of being his companion. She didnt want to be alone for the rest of her immortal days.

When the last customer left she locked up and went up stairs. She hung that cresent moon up.Away from her usual every day jewlery. She pressed her fingers to it. It hung by the diamond necklace he had given her so long ago. She couldnt part with them. And at some point shed go back to that manor. Knowing Zaos there would be something left behind.

She stood by the window and watched the sun set.Till nothing but the glow was left in the sky. Then went to take a long hot bath. She tossed Anise Star Pods in to the hot bath .It was good for protection and purification amoung other things. She had tossed about some Blessed Thistle. To protect her home from evil. Shed done the same in the shope.

Cumin burned with frankincense for protection by her bed side. She soaked in the water till it was cold. Then she wrapped her self in a softly scented lavender towel and dried off. She had set out all the goods she needed to make a good strong batch of horehound tea. She needed the engry and strenght. As well as the focus.

She sat at her dinning table that cup of tea steaming before her, wrapped in her most favorite of robes. The day was going to an end again. She wasnt going to open the shope tonight she knew many of the night dwellers would be mad, but they would get over it. She sipped her tea and sighed. She let her mind wander to the night before. The stars the moon, the endless twilight. That kiss, those moments that had brought her peace. Falling asleep, waking in that grand manor that might as well have been a castle.

She wondered if she had rushed in to things? She was hurning and lonely. Tomorrow shed go to the manor in the woods, to see what Zaos had left behind. The place was calling to her, it was a trap most likely. But she'd risk it.

If Jeardra were there this time. Raelin would not run. She'd face her.

Ruinous One

A funny thing it was for Kanaas to care about anyone, he had not done so ever really. But for Realin he would do so, only meeting her a few days ago, and now..Companions. What was it about her that stirred his dark spirit? Her Beauty, Her Strength, Her Touch, prehaps all of these and more. Maybe it was the lonliness of Eternity, the Long years down the corridors of Darkness. He found a Darkness in her Light, prehaps she brought out the Light in his Darkness.

Twice now he shared the BloodLink with Raelin, to see those that Hunted her, including this Jeardra, this Elven Witch. He would go after the Five Humans that attacked Raelin. She had told him, that Jeardra was her's to have, and he would not deny Raelin that satisfaction. Kanaas' spies and informations, a small but growing web in the Shadows of the City had found one of the Five Humans. A young man, seventeen winters old, named Reginald D'Guarre'. A fiery, headstrong youth with Red hair and green eyes, with a lanky body and fading freckles.

Reginald was easy enough to find, he was always in the company of another one of the group. Luis, his older brother, by four years. Taller and somewhat more husky in build, the D'Guarre' Boys, frequented the local Taverns and Brothels of the Dockside. Both men drank and gambled and bedded women on a nightly basis. Hardly men of Virtue, very much men of Vice. This was a common folly of Youth, much like Kanaas' slightly older Half-Brother, Jacob. Prehaps the same old tricks would work in a New world.

But Kanaas' would be cautious and take his time, he had to build up his resources. He had to observe a bit longer and discover where the others were first. A plan fomented in his dark mind, charm and enthrallment. When the Brothers left their nightly trysts with some of the Girls at the Mermaid's Den Brothel, the Vampire Lord took aside two of the girls used that night. With his terrible power he dominated the two young woman. Easy minds make for easy Slaves to the Will of a Vampire Lord. He knew that Mortal men in the thrall of Lust would spill secrets. And so now his Web of Darkness, grew by two more women. It would be at least a month or two before he had to use his Power over them.

Pleased with the results left in a good mood as he joined his six Vampire minions in the West End. Making sure he was not tracked or seen, travelling the Sewers. Dispatching with a small band of Goblins and Kobolds, he continued on. Prehaps tonight in light of his mood, a bit of folly of his own with whatever victims were going to be chosen tonight.

The sun light bathed her in its warmth. She stood on the edge of town, between the road of cobblestone and the road of dirt leading in to the woods.

Shed woken long before the sun had risen, not even sure she had gained any real rest. She could rest when this was finished. But would it ever truly be finished? Green eyes opened and peered through the breaking day in to the trees. The sun stung her eyes, but that didn't matter to her.

"You can do this. You must do this." She had come prepared to fight. If this was a trap, if Jeardra was waiting for her. Raelin would not be caught unaware. Shed dressed for it, like a fighter, like the way she used to when she had first been turned, before she let the goddess guide her. Sleek black pants, a sleeveless green top, her long chestnut hair back in a high pony tail. Low boots, a dagger at her side. That triple goddess necklace around her neck, the gem that made up the full moon was Carnelian. She was grounded by it, her attention focused, she also had upon her a small bag tied to her belt, with herbs enough for healing and protection should the fight go ill.

There was one choice, go forward or go back. Raelin wasn't going to run. She headed forward in tot he tree line.

The woods were quiet, with just the first animals waking. Rabbits and birds. The late night creatures were going to their shaded hiding spots. It smelt of pine and oak. Of earth. The scent of humans lingered here and there, rangers and guardsmen of Rhydin. The scent of elves lingered near the trees, and those of the ones who had spent the night in the forest hunting. Not only the wolves and bears but the vampires and lycans that called this forest home.

But now she was alone, save for the few animals waking to cross her path. The only sound was the birds and the wind.

She took a deep breath before heading down the path that would lead her to his manor. Through the shade of the trees. They were so thick and full that only magic could part them. She knew Jeardra had parted those tree to kill Zaos.

It was Jeardra's purpose to take everything from Raelin. Of coarse Raelin knew why.Azrael. He had met her at some point, somehow. How Raelin did not know, she had never known of elves till she left he old world. But Az was always a collector of oddities. Jeardra had been his prize, his slave, many things to him. And he Raelin knew had likely killed her family. That was why the hunters finally came after him, but as long as it was possible to kill two birds with one stone. Jeardra would do so. This time was no different, the hunters had been after Raelin not Zaos, but they had used him to get her. And now he too was dust like Az.

The trees thinned a little. Raelin had been watching the surround, using her senses to pick out anything out of place, but there was nothing. Nothing but that odd scent of burnt wood. As if someone had a fire here in the evening. But as the trees parted and the sun shown down on what used to be the walk way tot he manor Raelin saw what the scent had come from.

The manor was gone, nothing but a burned out shell now. Jeardra, she knew it. On her guard Raelin headed in tot he shell of the house, over fallen burnt beams. The bodies of those Zaos had killed were gone, the guards men had likely removed those and set up some sort of watch. Raelin wasn't worried about them, humans were easy to deal with.

She walked over the foundation her ears listening around her while her eyes searched. She knew Zaos and she knew that even with his house gone that there would be something here, something no one but she could have found.

She wandered the shell for a while. Stepping over beams and bricks. She came to the area that would have been the master bed room. There was something here, she could feel it, tugging on her. She looked tot he floor, studying it. The frame of the bed stood burnt pieces of wood. She walked towards it, it would be far to simple to hide something under the bed, someone would have found it.

Something tugged on her to the far corner of the room. She knelt down and brushed her fingers over the foundation. There was something there, something hidden. It was as if the floor had once held a trap door, yet now it was solid. Magic could have easily undo it, but Raelin knew Zaos wouldn't have hidden it with magic no. This took strength the type of strength only a vampire had. She flexed her fingers. Made a fist. It would hurt for half a second. Maybe less.

The floor shattered under the weight of that punch. Her fingers ground in to the foundation. Once solid turned to nothing but bits of dust and pebbles. And she found it. A solid box of iron. It was lovely, it was old and slightly tarnished but she could see the Celtic markings all over it along with a large cursive R. He had put this here just for her? She lifted the box, it was more like a chest like something some pirate might stash.

She glanced around the woods again. Nothing. She lifted the chest and left the forest as quickly as she could.

Locked in her loft above the closed shope Raelin starred at the soild chest. It was locked, both with a normal every day lock and with magic, she had felt the power enough to know to be carefull. She sat on her floor eyes closed working to unbind the box from that magic. Shed easily broken the other lock already. But that magical one had many layers. Zaos had done this with good reason. If anyone should find it they would be all most ceartainly killed if they undid the normal lock and opened the chest.

She could see Jeardra trying to open the box in her minds eye and getting zapped to its by arcane magics. The idea made her smirk. She worked her magic over the chest, with spells and herbs and words she had known for a long time and then pop. It opened.

Inside were folded letters, dozens of them along with a few other trinkets. She fished out the trinkest first, there were gems of every color and size, along with a massive amount of gold and silver coins. Some of them loose some of them bound in pretty blue velvet bags. Spigs of lavender and little died jasmine flowers.Things she knew Zaos had saved thinking of her. There was a rolled up map of the old world. Alogn with a lovely charcole sketch of her. "Oh Zaos..."She set the trinkets one by one aside. There was jewlery inside too, silver earrings that matched that moon pendant he had worn that now she owned. ilver rings, a claddagh,a celtic not, a triple sprial.

There was also little bags of ehrbs, things that were hard to find Balm of Gilead ,Dittany of Crete,Mastic all used for bringing dead spirts back.
Poplar, Maidenhair, Yerba Santa , Borage things for beauy, strenght and astral projection.Black Cohosh, Masterwort,Lucky Hand the Dragon's Blood herb, which she had no idea how he found. Love Seed and Passion Flower, powerful herbs for friendship. She had never seen many of these herbs in her life time, no matter how she had serached but he had been older and mroe connected to the circles always.

The herbs she found most intersting were those that could be sued to rasie the dead.Had he been expecting to die? Or wer those something new.The ehrbs and trinkets aside she starred down at the letters.Eaxh one had her name on the front, and the date it was written as well. She went throught hem stacking them in order newest on the bottom and oldest on the top. She began with that one.

Written in 1500, they had already known each other a long 98 years. It was one of the longest times she had stayed wth him at the villa in Italy amoung those of the great circle.

Each letter was different, yet some how the same, more like pages for some journal than true letters he ever ment to give to her. She read the words I love you over and over again. Already unable to keep from crying. They were love letters letters and words hed written thinking about her.

She read each one, as the light of midday passed through the room. Some were written in frech or italian, she was glad she recalled every word shed ever learned. He called her his heart and soul. And damned him self for being so foolish to let her go, to use her as he had.

The last thre were before her, the first one from when he appeared suddenly there in the Rhydin woods. And how he first came to see her, at the shope working on the front of the store. The second was all of that dinner,t hat night they had spent and how he planned to tell her he loved her.

The last letter, written the night after hed told her he loved her. In it she saw what he must have been feeling when the magic over took him, his penned hand was no longer steady. His words were wuick and she saw water marks on the page hed been crying, in pain from what was happening. He had known what was happening. Jeardra was working ehr magic, he had even said so in the letter. And at the end he wrote quickly.

"If you have foudn the chest in which this letter is, it means I am dead. Know that i have gone with only you in my heart and soul. And that I do and always have loved you. If there is a heaven for us we who are damned, I will wait there for you always. " And then she saw it a small red box in the corner of the chest. It was velvet. She was shaking, her hand reached for it. She lifted the tiny box up and opened it. If her heart had been ebating then it would have shattered in to a billion peices. It was a ring, likely as old as time itself, but lovely and elegant.

Something he had found, something like her. Simply lovely. It was three diamonds, one in the center pear cut, and one smaller round cut on either side. The band was silver. Inside the band was written, inscribed. The word Forever. Done in every language shed ever known. And a very small triple sprial.

"Oh Zaos..." Tears still ran down her cheeks. She knew she would ahve said yes,if he had ever asked her. She folded the notes back in then the herbs and lavender. Then the trinkets including that diamond necklace hed once given her, on top she put the herbs for bringing back the dead, the ring box and that silver cresnt moon pedant with its leather like chain. She then closed the chest and placed her own magic over it. Shed kept many of the gems out along with the money, she knew it was his investment in her. She hid the chest and the money away, and then sat back to the floor and let the sorrow flow, there was no was no way to stop it now.

The sun was gone, shed spent most of her day locked in her loft above the shope with old memories. And tears lots of tears.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-01 00:48 EST
How do you go on? Raelin sat on her floor all night till the rays of the sun danced across the floor. She hadnt slept. The day was anew and she wondered how did mortals do this? How did they go on? Mortals died all the time. How had she moved on when her brothers died? When her parents died? She couldnt recall, she remembered being sad, but having to be strong at first for Sky. Then nothing, nothing at all for days.

Az had said it happened to many throught he change the mroatl world blurred. How she wanted tor ecall it now. How much she wished she could. In all her years no one had been closer to ehr than Zaos. Shed known many, many immortals. Vampires, werewolves, witches of great power,elves.. and the others of mixed type and breed.

But 607 year was a long time. A very long time. She coundt forget, but she knew she had to live on. At last she rose walking slowly to the bath room where she would bathe and change before ehading down to oepn the shope, there were patrons waiting, a mob outside it seemed.

She opened the doors and patrons came in she heard some nonsense about magic being evil, people were carrying signs outside. So that was the mob. Raelin stood behid the counter known that even if that mob started to toss rocks or said other things they would not touch her building, it was protected from street to roof top.

"Such nonsense." one customer said as she came to the counter. "Have you heard they are going through some silly fight over magic, and it may turn out that all magic uses have to fill out some blasted form on all they can do.. some are saying they may ban it."

Ban magic? How could they do that Rhydin lived and breathed off magic. Yes there were non magic uses all about but how could Rhydin survive with out it. She rang the woman up and eyed the people outside who were now leaving as a small group of women came through the streets. Witches, a coven.

Raelin smiled warmly as they came in to the shope. "Merry meet." Raelin bowed her head. There were six of them, two young in there teens, three in their 20's or 30's and one elder. Raelin could not tell the womans age. "Merry meet indeed." The others stood behind the elder. She was tall, her hair was salt and peper, her eyes were violet in tone. "I am Acacia. " Raelin bowed her head, " greetings wise elder,Acacia." The woman smiled and nodded, " these are Angelica,Chry ,Damiana, Holly and Jasmine ."She motioned to each one and they bowed their heads.

Holly and Jasmine were the two young girls, they were beautiful. One with hair white as a lilly, and eyes like jade. The other with golden hair of soft curls, and bright brillant twany colored hues.

Angelica,Chry, and Damiana bowed next. Raelin found it interesting that each woman bore the name of a herb or flower, or in Chry's case part of a flower. Each woman was lovely in her own fashion, one had hair dark as the ravens feather and eyes like bright blue stars. While the one beside her to her right had hair the oddest shade of blue, like the sea. Her eyes were brown and warm. The one to the left had long brown hair, and emerald toned eyes.

"I am glad to see you are not driven out by the news,Raelin." Acacia spoke softly as the others looked around the shope. "I can see you have a wide range of herbs, spices and dried flowers. As well as crystals, charms and trinkets. I am happy to see it, for too long we have gone with out a shope such as this." Raelin bowed her head again, "I thank you for your kindness. "

She nodded again then each woman came to the counter with an arm full of goods. Raelin smiled widly. She rang them each up, taking 10% off ehre and 5 % there. They were fellow members of the craft she was most glad to do it.

One by one they bowed said blessed be and left. Acacia smiled and bowed as well. " I hope we might see you at our meetings,Raelin. The next one will be at the full moon, in the clearing past the forest to the north."

Raelin bowed, "Thank you, I may indeed attend. " Acacia nodded, " then blessed be till then, sister." She bowed and left the shope.

Zach found himself in a strange town, with no clue on how he got there. What was more troubling is that he could only remember one thing from his past. That was a name that continued to flicker through his mind, with the face being a blur. Raelin.

As he moved around the strange town, his questions were answered for the most part. He was in a city called Rhy'Din. Putting the name to memory, as he continued to search for a clue as to who this woman his mind was trying to remember.

It was then he happened upon the newly open shop, little did he know that it was owned by the very woman he had come here for. He looked over the wares of the shop, as he looked around here and there for a shop owner.

As he looked and waitted, he tried to focus his mind. Which only served to get him to furrow his brows in frustration. "" Muttered to himself as his hands came up to massage his temples.

This had been happening for the last week. Each time he tried to put his memory into order, it gave him a massive headache. With the only thing he managed to remember...was this woman.. As well as it seemly being a woman he held deep feelings for.

Would she recognize him? and would she beable to answer his questions? He only hoped she would be able to..As for the life of him..He couldn't put anything together. Minus this Raelin held all the answers.

It was a day like any other.

Save for the fact that the night before after the oven had left the shope she had sat on her floor again those herbs in a bowl.Ready to call upon the arcane to bring Zaos back.

He had given her everything she needed, the herbs Balm of Gilead which she would burn.Dittany of Crete which was also to be burned and Mastic which was used also in the manifestation of spirits. It was a dangerous thing to do, calling back the dead was unheard of and undone for so many reasons.

This was surely never done, trying to call back a man who had not been a man at all but undead. And not only that but ashes now lost in the wind. But she had those herbs. and pieces of him, trinkets and gems and words.

But she left the herbs in the bowl and went to bed.It was foolish to try such a thing. No matter how she longed to see him one last time. But she did dream about him. A dream she had a million times. But this time so bitter sweet. For when she woke she knew he wouldnt be there . Starring at her with his deep sapphire eyes. She hated herself for beileveing that he didnt love her. Jeardra still had to be dealt witht he hunters were dead, of that she had no doubts. Jeardra was hers. Even though vengeance didnt sit well with Raelin, this needed justice.

~~
The day had begun, and she had set out in serch of flowers.Itw as amazing where they grew. All over the city, hidding down alley ways,in the safety of some corner along a buildings wall. People passed by them every day, but Raelin didnt she would pick them, some root and all to be grown somewhere she could dote upon them.

Wild flowers, thats what most of them were,Weeds some might call them. But Raelin knew better.

Chamomile, Chrysanthemums , and Dandelions. Along with dasiys and other little beauties. Some would be picked and died some picked root and all for use. She wrapped them up in her bag and spent the day at the inn.Heariong of all the nonsense that was this rise upa gaint magic and those who used it. Yes magic in the wrong hands was dangerous. You could easily kill whole citys with but a wave of your hand. And yes many used magic to their own emans, but no one was going to sign away their powers, not now not ever. And even if some did, would they incudled everything they could do. Raelin thought not.

But it was a scary thing. The burning times could come back with force and she would have to flee. When she returned to the store she found only awaitng cutomers and no mob. No one with buuring manikins of withces or wizards.

She thought of the women she had met yesterday.Powerful women. They would surely not sign away their magic. No one would, even if it was for some greater good. It would all blow over ina few days till then shed be extra careful.

Customers came and went through the late hours of the afternoon. She staye dopen through her lunch. Helping wondering customers. Mages, wizards and witches thanked her.Elves and priestesses encourgaed her to keep going. They needed her here, she was part of Rhydin now.

As the night drew closer she watched through the window, no one walking about chanting bad things. Not a soul really now. The night was close, people went home or to some safe place. Perhaps it was time to close. But the chimes above the door way sounded that there were customers now int he shope. She looked out from the work room.Indeed there were, a few women and one man his back to her looking through the books.

"Greetings,"Raelin smiled to them. The man didnt turn just kept looking at the books. The women chatted with her for some time on what to use for spells. They bought things for protection and strength.Raelin knew they were fellow magic uses of some kind, being very carefull. They bought their things and left now only the man was left. Calling out their thanks to her as they left. "Your a god sent Miss Raelin really."One shook her hand before she darted out the door. Raelin grinned softly a goddess sent was more like it. Now the man was the only one there.

He was tall, dressed in dark colors, his hair was long and dark as well. "Something your looking for sir?" She asked from the counter. He was rubbing his temples perhaps he was in pain. She hadnt had many men come in. A few cooks and chefs, and one or two mages or wizards, not a male witch amoung them. Those indeed were rare.

He didnt say anything just loooked over the goods now on the table, there were cyrstals and gems, dried herbs and satchles of herbs. Each for their own special uses. She called that table her sale table. Easy things for any one to use, for spells or cooking. The table was split in two halves one half spell ingereants, the other half herbs and spices for cooking. Those meant for cooking were mixes for curry,or grilling and so forth.Held in lovely twany, brown and tan colored satchles.

The magical satchles were green, blue and red. And each one had the triple goddess symbol burned in to the fabric. As well as the name of the spell the herbs or spices within could be used for. Penned in Raelins own hand. Spells like: Astral protection: Whos satchel held Dittany of Crete and Poplar. There were many others too Labeld in her fine hand. Many came in for love spells or those for protection or wealth.

"Perhaps your searching for something to cook with?" He didnt look the magic type from behind. "Or a love spell,or something to protect your home,or to help with pain?" She watched him still not moving from behind the counter. He was armed she could see that, she thought perhaps he was one of those people out hunting down magic users. She took a breath.

He smelt human, vey much normal. She tensed, her dagger still sat where it always did under the counter top, just within fingers reach. He still didnt speak but eyed the goods on the sale table. She didnt breathe, was this to be her end. Here in her own shope? Had he come in to kill her, no.No one not even a mere mortal could come in to her shope with the intent to kill her, her barriers would protect against that. "Sir?" She was cautious. If he was here to kill her or do her some harm, hed find it very hard to do.

He shook his head to cealr his mind of the pain, before starting to move around the shop again. He had heard the owner speaking to him, before he pressed a hand to his temple agan.. The voice sounded very familer to him, as he started to breath in deeply. His other hand caught the table, as he shook his head clear again.

"Perhaps you can help me. I am looking for a woman named Raelin. But for the life of me..I don't know what she looks like." His voice coming out soft, yet there was a touch of confusion laced in his tone as well.

He slowly turned to face her, taking note of her tense form. Getting him to lift his hands up where she could see him. "I am not here to harm you..I am just looking for answers. You see..my mind and past is a blur. All I can remember in her name. Nothing more." It was odd how freely he gave this information away.

For some reason, he felt that it would help ease the tension. Little did he realize..This was the woman he was looking for. He kept his hands in plain sight, and didn't make a move towards her. Nor did he make a move to leave.

Raelin

She watched his hands but her dark brows rose softly as he held them up. He had turned to face her, there was something familar about his face, very familar. She tooka breath and stepped out from behind the counter un armed. "I am Raelin." It could be a story, he could have made it up.But she tended to doubt it.

She took only two long strides towards him, and looked up in to his eyes. They were ice blue. His hair was dark brown. But she knew that face, no matter the hair color or eye color. She looked at his dark clothing, stylish yet good for any up coming battle. That sword at his side, the magic in his eyes. If she needed to breathe shed be hyperventaling. It couldn't be. There was no way, she hadnt tried any spell.

How was it possible? His face was Zaos's face, perfectly. The hair was brown now, it had lost that odd redish hue,his eyes were paler now. But it was him. She sucked in a breath of air. But this man before her was human she could smell it, hear his heart beating, his breath. "How can I help you?" She managed, trying not to burst in to histarics.Every inch of her being was tugged towards him wanting to launch herself in to his awaiting arms.

But no she stood there, she was the shope keeper and it was just some odd thing that this man looked like Zaos. But he said he knew her. Sid all he knew was her name and the rest of his life was a blur. How could that be?

Son of Man

The moment she told him, that she was the woman he was looking for. It got him to lock eyes with her, his brows furrowing again, as he sank in to the chair that was behind him. He took a deep breath, to calm his mind again. While closing his eyes, he seemed to be trying to put her face to the name.

"I need help to put my memories back together. Your name is the only thing that I can clearly remember. I do not know why at the moment..but it has been the only guide I have had." Said softly to her, as he openned his eyes to look up at her.

Ice blues stay on her face, as he traced it withi his eyes. It lasted a few moments, before a hint of a memory came to his mind. "I..wasn't always human...was I?" He vaguely remembered a part of what he had been..But couldn't remember just what that was.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-02 01:29 EST
She watched him sit, thank goddess for the chair there. She looked tot he outside, dark. The night had fallen. She went to the door and closed it and put the closed sign up before retuning to him as he reopened his eyes. She was knealing now, gazeing back at him with ehr eyes soft ,worried yet some how still intense.Full of magic and care.

She took a slow easy breath. "I will help in what ever way I can." She kenlyt there alone in the shope with him now more at ease than she had been in days. "No, you werent always human,Zach"There was no denying it now, it was Zaos. And he was human which meant, he was going by his human name.So she ahd used it. "You were once as I am.A creature of the night,as some call us. A Vampire." She woundered if that was too much for him. Or if she should just lay his past at his feet. She dare not touch him, worried that at any moment she might wake from some dream.Or maybe, maybe she was dead, killed by hunters or some mob.

"If you are who I think you are, your history is not something to be had all in one night. Let me make you some tea. It may help with the head aches. "She rose with that fluid grace, and she took up one of the satchels on the table. "Sit here,I'll be back." She went quickly, locking the door, she didnt want anyone coming in now.
She hurried to the work room there was a small stove there, she wasnt about to go upstairs and heat the water. She heated the water , and tended tot wo mugs of tea, the one for him would help witht he headaches, and help memories flow more easily, and her own was to help with the sudden nature of all this, she needed strenght and calm. She came back out with two mugs of tea. She pushed some of the things away on the table and set his mug down then she sat down there across the way.

"Drink it it will help." Her voice was soft and sincear. She didnt know if he would trust her. She wasnt sure herself if she trusted him, but it was hard to deny what she felt. It was what she had always felt, that tug.Be it of magic or something else, something that tugged on her very soul.

"Where shall I begin?" She wondered aloud as if hearing that he was once unded wasnt enough.

He kept his gaze on her as she started to tell him about his shattered memories of his past. Getting his brows to furrow a few times, as that shock of pain over took him again. With the hints of his memory returning to him in his eyes.

"A vampire.." Murmured when she told him what he had been, as he watched her as she moved to get him a cup of tea. Once she returned, he started to sip at it. Pondering on what she had already told him.

His gaze looked her over slowly. "I was the one that turned you into a vampire." Seeing if he was right as parts of his memory were starting to come to the surface. Parts of it falling into line, as well as the images starting to race through his mind.

It was seen in his eyes as each one slowly started to come forward. "We were also very close..lovers and in love." His brows furrowed as he downed the rest of the tea. With a nod for her to start filling in the blanks.

Raelin

How to begin? It was the oddest question, and it bothered her. How do you lay out someones life? She knew it would take more than one night. Six hundred and seven years. That couldnt be layed out in one night. Zaos life, his death, his immortality. Their time toeghter apart as friends, comrades and lovers. But she knew she could recap the last days of his life, his days in Rhydin from when he appeared sudden;ly there at the shope, or rather above in her loft, yes that she could do.

"No you did not turn me. You knew the one who did. Azrael. And yes we were very close... both lovers and in love, but that was most recently."

The rest could come later. "How about I begin with the things that happened here in Rhydin, those things are mpost recent. Then I could work back over time." Six hundred years and change of time. She wouldnt beginw ith his death no, shed begin with that night he suddenly was there in her loft above the shope. She took a savored sip of tea.

"The night you," she wavored on that. This man before her was not Zaos. No he was mortal now, he was Zach. That name was no longer just some name chosen to hunt humans, it had been his name as a mortal.Raelin had always known that. "Found me here." She finished, he was the same man though, though the memories were gone now, he was Zaos.

"I arrived home here at the shope late one night after being at the inn. There had been fresh blood, human blood in the air and it have driven me a little off edge." It had driven her mad was more like it, but she chose to keep it light. Talk of blood and vampires and all that wasn't for everyone. "So I went up stairs to my loft, and raided my stash." Her stash of human blood, kept inw ater bottles in the fridge. "And you were there. Sittigng on my bed grinning at me. You asked me if it was good."The blood, she wondered if hed catch that.

"You looked as you look now, same face. Yet your eyes were sapphire and your hair was dark red, it took on the oddest hue of purple in moon light. I called you Zach and you chuckled. Zach was the name you used to lure in mortals, and it had once been your human name. As a vampire you had taken on the name Zaos. You were dressed to impress, as you always were. You had followed me here, tracked me down and found me.I would later ask you how you came to be in Rhydin." She sipped her tea and checked his face, waiting for something, for him to freak out perhaps. She left out the part of how he had taken a taste of the blood left on her lips. But continued on with the tale. " You had always known me,and knew I ahd been denying my self the simple pleasure of warm human blood. I argued witht hat saying I didnt eat my customers or potentioal ones, you shot back with the fact that Rhydin is brimming with vampires who do hunt and kill every night. "

She took a long breath. " You had seen me at the inn and beat me back home, you knew that I had dreamed about you and called to you. A shameless flirt but a gentlemen that was you. We talked for a while, flirted as some might call it. Then after the flirtation you ksised me, and I didnt fight it. I never had before. You asked me to dinner. I agreed, I could never refuse you. Even though I knew it was always more than just dinner on you mind. You agreed on an exchange of sorts, dinner and the night with me, for an investment you later called it on my shope, you agreed to help me with things that needed doing."

She wondered if any bells were going off in his head now.She sipped her tea again. "It was to be at eight, you would send a carrige for me and so you did." She stopped them letting him take in the story in full, save for what she had left out, there were details of that flirtation she did not say. But her cheeks were red . It was as if she was telling some stranger of her exploites. But he wasnt so strange was he.

She stopped then wondering if she should continue. Or let him rest.Mortals needed sleep.Where as she did not. It was nice to sleep, to dream to heal. But she didnt need it. She waited for him to tell her to go on.

Zach remained silent as he listened to Raelin, keeping his eyes locked on her. There were moments he closed his eyes, as he was slowly starting to remember each memory she passed onto him. A sip of tea here and there, before setting it to the side.

"Please continue." Softly to her as he, without thinking about it. Moved a hand to be placed over her's, giving it a light squeeze. A silent hint that he was remembering parts of their past together.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-03 00:18 EST
She didnt breathe for that moment. And looked at his hand over hers. She smiled at the contact.

"The next day went by so slowly. I set my self to finsihing up things in the shope, the signs, pricing anything to keep the idea of you off my mind, which was impossible. Finally ,I took a bath and prepared to go and see you, dressing to impress, and wearing one of the many things you had given me, a stunning diamond necklace. I wore heels in hopes of being eye to eye with you, knowing full well it was a grave mistake. I knew I'd lose myself in those eyes." She glanced at him, though a different color now, his eyes were the same, they held that same depth. The same power and magic hed always had. Her hand moved a little under his, his skin was warm now. Hers had never been cold, like many of her kinsmen, it always had eben luke warm some where ebtween cold and warm.

"I came down stairs and the carrige was awaiting me. You always had mortals as servants, people who worked for you. The driver had eyed me soemthing fierce that night, and I heard his thoughts. " She wondered if hed ask her any questions about if she could ehar his now, and no she couldnt. As always she found his mind blocked as if bya wall of steel. Zaos's mind had been that way unless he let her in.

"The carriage took me throught he streets to the woods to just beyond the manor you had there. I was greated at the door by an elderly butler. Who took my coat and purse and guided me to the table. I could smell vanilla and cacao. There were roses and Damiana here and there.. " She knew these things might not mean anything to him now, she would have to explain later about the power of magic and flowers and scent.

"There was a cup of Hibiscus flower tea waiting for me at the table, you had pulled out all the stops, as if you needed any of it to seduce me." Would he understand now? "You came in with dinner, dressed as always to impress. You slid the plate of food to me, and poured some wine. " Blood wine, but she leave that out. "You toasted with the tea and I drank it down, I knew that there was no sue in fighting your seduction magics. But you didnt need magic, you never had."

She looked down at ther emppty tea cup. "You complemented me on my dress, and told me whatw as for dinner.Wild pheasnt cooked in blackberrie sause with a side of freshly steamed vegetables. One of my favoirtes. And you told me there was dessert. We ate in silence. But I watched you as you looked me over. I knew what you saw and what you could smell. Dessert was chocolate cake , and vanilla ice cream , sweet and hot. With candied rose petals on the top. We shared it, feeding fork fulls to the other. We had our wine, and at last you spoke again. We danced , you talked of how your staff had been thinking of me. We shared a laugh at the thoughts your carriage driver had about me. Then you let me in to hear your thoughts. And in turn you heard mine. And we went upstairs. "

She stopped again, her hair brushed over her cheeks, they were red, and warm now. That dinner she recalled in every detail. As well as the night after.

She wondered if she should gloss over the night they had or tell him. If it was Zaos back fromt he dead there would be no harm in recounting that night. But she was carefull.

He smiled back to her as he noted the odd luke warm feel of her skin, but again remained silent as she spoke. Again getting his eyes to close when each old memory returned to him, with a light squeeze of her hand. A deep breath was added here and there.

Once she paused again, he moved to stand now. Arms crossing over his chest as he started to pace, thinking over what she had told him so far. He then glanced to the window, taking note of how late it was. A yawn passed his lips, getting his to shake his head of the daze.

He then looked back to her, letting her again see that she didn't need to go further with what happened. "We were attacked. I was shot with an arrow through the heart, then the sun came up..killing me." Said softly as he sensed she was avoiding that.

He went quiet as he watched for her reaction now. Already knowing what that event done to her. "Raelin. I know it is hard to believe, but it is me. I do not know how I was brought back. I guess my will to live was strong enough to make it happen." Now moving to look out the window.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-04 00:44 EST
She watched him pasing and nodded softly to his words. "Yes we were attacked, but much more than that."

She would gloss over the night they shared and go on with her story shed make is as short as possible. "The morning after the night at dinner, I woke to find breakfast but not you as well as your investment in the shope. That was your way, the next few days were set in stone as it seemed tending to the shope and its opening. You came the night before the grand opening. Then there was nothing for a day, then there was a note, to meet you at the garden of the dead, the graveyard."

" So I set out to meet you. We spoke for a few moments there you asked me why I had come here. Then you knew of corse that I was here because of you. I had loved you and I had never felt that you felt the same. We talked about the old coven Circolo degli abitanti della notte, it had always been in Italy." She took a breath still watching him. " Then you told me how you came to be in Rhydin.I told you of the power they called the Nexus here and it seemed to make sense. We talked of Az, and the past. Then you said you had something to tell me, but took me from the graveyard to the woods. It took you some time to tell me everything, but at the end of it you told me you loved me, and were very honest about it I could see it in your eyes. That is after I fainted.."

She chuckled lightly and toyed with her empty mug. "We talked some more, you kissed me. And we came to the conculsion to take one day at a time."

She rose slowly. "I waited, I waited to hear from you after that night. I had expected to see you, but nothing. No letter no just appearing out of no where.I waited.I felt like a fool. I thought you had lied to me. I was attacked one night after that by hunters."She eyed her arm now long healed of its wounds. "They got away," but are now long dead, she knew that. "The pain came and went, but you never did. So I deiced I would set out to comfront you. I went to the manor, ready to drag you out. But I also wanted to show you what you would miss,I dressed for that. When the butler opened the door he took two breathes and collapsed on the floor dead, a stake rammed through his back."

Would this story distrub him? "I sniffed the air and walked through the house. the carriage drive was dead, his head was gone. Death has never been new to me, but these were fresh human kills. It was very hard for the monster in me to resist. It was a trap,I knew that. But I kept going." She leaned to the counter now.

"The maids were dead, blood every where I walked up stairs in to your room, expecting to find your ashes or at least blood and there was none. But crosses hung every where, crosses had never done you or I any harm. Then you spoke, I saw you then your face covere din blood, I knew from your eyes that you were mad with it, and there was something else. Something magical there, tainted. I tried to talk you out of it, but the hunters that had harmed me in the market place, had help.."

She breathed deeply, " you came at me, and I had to figt you off with a candle stick. I hit you and ran but you came after me, we hit the wall.I flicked my magic at you burning your hands. I knew the day light was fading but I ran for the door. You were speaking in riddles by then, talking of promised things."

Her lean became deeper on that counter. "I used my power to raise a barrier to keep you rom me and you from the sun I stood in. Sun had never been an issue for me, but to you.. The barrier soemthing about it broke through the magic hold on you. You begged me to go. Then looked tot he woods, six darts flew at me and you lunged through the barrier to save me. Explained that someone had taken control of your mind, and that you did truly love me. You begged me to go again. But I would not be moved."

She glanced at him. Her eyes betrayed her strenght, welling with the coming flow of tears. "There was a female voice, she knew my name. And she came out. Jeardra." She wondered if the name would spark his mind now, of the short slight elf witch, with the pale blonde hair.

" I told you to go, you started to argue but then udnerstood that if she got in to your mind again,we'd all be dead."

She took a breath. "I intended to face her, but she had called the Rhydin guard and they were coming in fast so she fled and I too, I went after you.I had seen you go through the shade of the tree avoiding the sunlight. I found you in a corspe of oak pulling the bolts from your back. The magic had faded. You told me you loved me but you had to go, I knew that too.You asked me to come with you and I said no... I wish I had said yes.. but I said no. We parted ona kiss and the hope that someday...You walked in to the shade then away from me, and I heard it.. the click of crossbows..I called for you to wait, but I heard you dry out in pain. As I reached the next shade I saw you turn an an arrow went through your heart. It should ahve killed you then and there.. but I reached for you, screaming. Then the light burned through the trees, and you were dead then ash.The only thing left of you was the symbol of the coven, which I took." She was crying now.

He nodded lightly as he kept his eyes out the window as she started to tell him of their past again. He then turned to look at Raelin as she moved to lean on the counter, before moving towars her. "Enough Raelin." Slowly moving up to her.

He then slowly turned her to face him, before using a few fingers to wipe the tears from her cheek and eyes. " I know a lot has happened, but perhaps we should rest for now." Giving her a light smile, before he turned to head for the door.

He had learnt a lot of his past, and needed a night to ponder over what he had been told. " I shall see you later, try and get some rest." Said as he looked over his shoulder to her.

She nodded to him softly. She didnt want him to go.She knew shed gain no rest tonight. But she had given hima lot to think about. She had almost leane din when he wipped her tears away but did not. "All right, yes your right. " She smiled softly, " later," later meant tomorrow.

She would let him out unlocking the door witha flick of her fingers. And she would let him pass beyond it before locking the door again. The inn wasnt too far, she knew hed be save.In the city he'd be safe. How odd that was. Safe in Rhydin. She knew if he wandered too far outside the city the elf witch might see him. Jeardra would kill him again if she caught sight of him. Raelinw ould keep and eye on him. With magic. She flew up stairs and looked for it. She ahdnt used it in years, Her scrying bowl. It was the softest sahd eof blue, held up by eprfect silver holdings. She found some water, and cleansed it and poured it in to the bowl, she focused on what she wanted to see.

Ahh yes there he was walking through the light. Heading for the inn maybe, or one of the other places to go.She wished she would have offered him to stay there. She would not sleep any how. She would watch him till he was safely in a room, somewhere theRed Dragon, or another inn then she let the water fade to clear.

"Goddess watch over him and protect him." She said with closed eyes. She sat there on her floor then for a long time. No able to sleep, not even bothing to try.

He looked over his shoulder to her before stepping out into the night, before turning to head away from her shop. She had given him a lot to think about and a lot to piece together. Most things were still a blur, yet the things she had told him. Had put that part of his shattered memory back into it's proper place.

He moved to one of the smaller inns, before getting a room. After thanking the innkeeper, he moved up to the small room, before sitting down upon the bed. Resting his chin in his hands, before shutting hsi eyes.

He just sat there for now, letting the returned memories pour through his mind. As well as recalling the events leading up to his death, he then recalled the face of another. It got his eyes to snap open, before looking around his small room.

"Jeardra in due time..you will face me again, and this time the outcome will be different." Murmured softly before standing up, and started to get ready for bed. With him hooking the sword on the bedpost within reach. He then slipped under the covers, and fell asleep.

Day light came throuhg the window blinding. She rose off the floor, she hadnt slept. It wouldnt show. Greatful for immortal life for once in a long time she rose pulled the shade and went to bathe and change.

She changed and pulled back her hair. That chest was sitting on her night stand . Old and lovely, like herself. Tarnished and Celtic. Also like herself. She wasnt perfect. She eyed ehrself in the mirror as she hung earrings from her ears. Shed dressed to serve customers. Light colors, warm and welcoming.

Her favorite shirt. it was a deep earthy green and it was soft. Her pants were a soft twany brown. And simple flat green shoes. She filled her hosue with smells like lavender and sage. And scented her skin and hair the same way, she slid a pink rose in to her hair. Then smiled, thankful for immortal life once more. No signs that she had not slept hung to ehr pale perfect features.

She left her hair in a low pony tail and went down stairs.

She unlocked the door propped it open slight and hung the open sign out. It was early, just past dawn. But she needed to work needed it to think and get her mind off the night before. She set to moving the chair Zach had sat in as well as the one she had, back behind the counter. She fixed the sale table placing a few new things there. She wondered if she should tlel him about the chest? She shook that idea out of her mind as she swept up the floor.

The simple swish, swish motions calmed her. She pushe dout all the negitive engery, it went flying out the door. The tears from the night before, the pain of recalling Zaos's death in perfect detail, the way she wanted so much revenge on Jeardra. But that wasnt going to fade away any time soon.

She shook it out of her mind and scooted behind the counter to greet the first of hopefully many customers that day.

The customers came and went some muttering wthings about the Prop 37. The issue had not yet blown over. But no mops had tried tor an sack ehr shope, no one came at her with burning crosses yet. People still came for supplies, some for cooking some for magical use.
She greeted every customer and tahnked then whent hey left even if they only looked and never bought anything. She was not supised to see one of the coven come in. It was the one with the long drown ahir and eyes like emeralds. Raelin did not know her name but she knew her face. "Hello Lady Raelin." "Greetings, sister of the coven."

"Oh yes, Acacia never did get to telling you who was who,I am Angelica. I am here to hope you have deiced to come to the meeting tomorrow night." Raelin nodded she ahto a conculsion tot hat beofre Zach appeared, " Yes I am coming." Angelica smiled, "Oh good. You will get to match all the faces you saw with names then, Acacia will be so happy to have you come. "

Angelica then set forth to buying a large amount of goods. Raelin was happy to help the coven with anything they needed. Once she was done Angelica smiled to Raelin, "see you tomorrow night then." And she ws off back out the door and two of the others came and met her, the one with the sea blue hair and the one with the raven hair. Raelin would be happier knowing each name of those in the coven.

The rest of her afternoon was spent making new satchles and tending to customers. Her mind wandering to Zach. He had every right to stay away, shed laiid a lot at his feet. She knew what it was likenot to know your past, she still couldnt recall hers, and some how wished Az was there to tell her. Or better yet Skylar. The idea of her broher being alive wa s a wishful thing.

The day began to slow after lunch, only a few regulars came in for herbs and spices to make dinner. She was starting to know them all by name. None of them had she seen at the inn, in fact no one from the inn had even passed her store, shed fix that soon enough. Soon the last rays of the sun were setting behind the tall buildings and she was sweeping up before closing. She knew it was too much to hope to see Zach , he was likely locked in some room some where trying to remember everything.

Would he recallt he chest?Or would she had to break down and tell him about that too. As she locked the door and set the closed sign out she looked in to the dark street.

The lamps had just flickered on. It was always so odd to see no one about, everyone who dared be out was careful. She didnt feel like going out. Nor she knew would she sleep. But she drs over the front windows and went upstairs. The shope became dark as the lights in the loft went up. She could curl up in bed and read. Yes, that might help her get her mind off Zach.

She took out one of ehr older books and lay it on her bed before chaning in to her night clothes. Then she curled in to bed. She had the book before her but didn't lift it up. She was thinking of him again. The last time she saw him, starring in to his eyes. Wishing she could just hurl herself in to his strong arms. Wishing he would crush her lips in a kiss.

She had to remind ehrself over and over again that he was mortal now, he was not the play boy Zaos had been. She wondered if this was how he was before he was turned, soft and gentle yet still a warrior. His eyes hadnt looked at her witht hat intesne need that Zaos's always had. But he recalled they were lovers, it meant little now. Now he was mortal, and she would protect him from their eneimes.

She knew they could never be together again. She recalled the night of that dinner, the night shed tasted the blood he had magically tranfured back to his mortal state. He had been bursting with power as a mortal, and he was over run with that power as an immortal. The magic flowed freely so easily.

She recalled the atste, sweet and rich. It amde her toes tingle. She had smelt that blood, when hed been so close to her, felt the pulse of his heart when his hand touched hers. She was what she was,the yerning for human blood had never gone away, no matter how many times she tried to tstay to her' diet'.

She bit her lip and opened her eyes. Long ago if she had been thinking about him and he had been any where near he would have been there starring at her smirking like the devil he could be. But the room was empty. No book would get that memory out of her mind. Not now, not ever.

Come next morning, Zach would slip out of his room then out into the town. Walking through the marketplace, still going over the memories as they came back to him. Gaze sweeping over the place as people came and went.

He spent most of the day walking through town, before ending up at Raelin's shop. He chuckled to seeing she had already locked up, before looking up at the sky. He noticed it was dark now, but perhaps he could get her to answer.

With that idea in mind, he knocked on the door to her shop. "Anyone home? Or do I need to go elsewhere to buy the spices I need?" Said loud enough to hopefully be heard.

"Anyone home? Or do I need to go elsewhere to buy the spices I need?"

The voice rocked her from her bed like some waking dream. But she wasn't dreaming was she. She eyed the clock on the dresser, it wasnt that late. She glanced to the open window and then rose up quickly, dawning her robe as she Down the stairs she dashed barefoot, turning on the shope lights as she went.

She looked out the little peek window before unlocking the sevral locks on the door. "Zach."She smiled and ran her fingers through her hair. "Hi." She doubt very much that he was looking for spices, yes in a life before he could cook, and used herbs and spices for magic. But this was a new life. " Did you need something?"

She knew what she looked like, like shed rolled out of bed, bare foot with that deep indigo night gown and matching robe on. Both had little trees of life all over them. done in irdesent colors, the little tress shimmered in the light of the shope. her hair a little mess of soft chestnut waves.

"Would you like to come in?" She held the door open for him a little more. Why was he here? She wondered staring at him.

He had his back to the door when he heard it open, then heard her voice. Now turning to face her, and was about to speak, till he noticed her just out of bed look. He hid the chuckles, but just couldn't hide that sly grin. Then a shake of his head, as he moved inside.

" I hope I'm not keeping you from reading old letters, or wishing for old memories to come true." Glancing over his shoulder to her, as there seemed to be a hint of something in his eyes. It lasted for a breif moment, as he moved to sit down at the table from the previous night.

"Nice look by the way. You look like you did after a few of our more..intimate nights together." Winking at her now, as that grin reappeared on his lips. He then gestured to the chair across from him.

Raelin

She closed the door behind him. Then she froze at his words. "Old letters... memories..." She blushed and swept her hair behind her ears. She noticed that hint fo something in his eyes for a moment. Then moved across the room after locking the door again. She fiddled with her hair more when he said somehting about her look, and tied that robe tighter. Her cheek red as as rose.

She caught that wink as she sat down.So he recalled their nights together now?As well as the chest of momentos he had left behind for him to find. What else did he know?

She didn't know what to say. To the fact that he recalled how she looked after their night together, yes at one point Zaos had seen that night gown under that robe, he had slid it off with his pinkys and kissed over her shoulders and lower. The memory made her blush more."I wasn't reading any old letters.I was just awake."

Thinking about you, day dreaming. She folded her hand sto the table pushing a few of the crystals and spices over so her too could rest his hands there. "So, was there something you needed?" She glanced outside, it was the middle of the night , not that that bothered her, she was after all a night creature. With the drapes over the windows she could see that the lamps outside had flickered off. It had to be near midnight.

He chuckled to her repeating his words, as he watched her for a few moments. "You weren't reading them at this very moment..but you do read them. I'm guessing you are worried that I forgot what I promised I would do." His brows rose a touch, as he would gauge her reaction.

He then smiled at her, before shaking his head lightly. "You try to hide it so well. Yet I know what is truely on your mind, Raelin." Murmured softly to her, as he leaned back in the chair. Arms crossign over his chest, before quirking a brow at her question.

"Tell me.. do you wish for things to return to how they were?" Gesture of a hand between them. Being rather blunt with his question. Oh he knew the answer, but he wanted her to say it.

Raelin

Still as a stone she sat and looked across the table at him. She wondred could he read her mind? Or was her face that easy to read? She hadnt always thought so, but he knew her.Even now he seemed to know how easily to read her eyes. He always could do that. And he looked so swave while doing it.He didnt cut corners he was blunt to the point.

Her brows rose, what had he promised? To be with her forever? To love her?Or was he speaking of that unspoken promise, that little red box in the locked chest in her loft? She didnt speak even as he spoke her name, if her herat hadnt stopped beating decades ago it would be druming in her ears now. "What do I try to hide?" Combative, very Raelin.

As she followed his hand in that simple motion she knew there was nothing simple about it. She slid her hands back along the table, crusing some herbs in her fingers as she did.Hopeing they would steady her. "Things can never be as they once were. " She rose fluidly. " I agreed to help you get your memories back and I shall do that. It seems you've recalled your last gift ,gifts."She corrected herself, "to me." She ran her hand through her hair, slightly pacing. "I can tell you what I know of your past," She didnt sit down again. She just walked past him to the book shelf and pulled a worn old book fromt he very top, she had to stand to her toes to get it.

She sat the book in front of him, it was a map, not of Rhydin or this new place. No of what she called the old world . Europe: France,Italy,Ireland,Scottland,England, Greece. Asia beyond and the Americas beyond all that across a sea of black and white. "This."She tapped her finger to Italy. "Is where we met, six miles just outside of Rome. You, were born here."

She slid her hand along till it tapped Greece. "And I was from here." Again her finger moved to Ireland. "You never told me much else than where you as a mortal were born, and your sires name. You told me much more of your life as vampire. The years you had with your sire, and the years after he was killed. " She had not yet said the name.

" You told me of your time trying to go off human blood, you did too for some time with me. But old habbits die hard, as you once said. Your family, or what you could recall enough to tell me, was a band of powerful witches, though they would never have called them selves that. Seeres, and profits and wise men and women. You were the last of their house. We shared many things in common back then, the loss of our sires, the loss of our families. A link through magic and immortality. That." She looked in to his eyes, "is gone."

She left the book before him, the pages were worn and many of them were marked by beautiful book marks done over many years by Raelin herself. The section on Greece was marked off, as well as Italy and Ireland. In the very back of the book penned in his own hand was a short inscription. "To Raelin, so you may always look back to see through time. Z"

She was leaning to the counter now. "I can try to sum up the first time we faint of heart." If was his life, his memories. So in turn his choice.

Sly grin crossed his lips as she started to speak of their past again. As he leaned back in his chair, arms crossed over his chest. His gaze watched her when she rose to move. Then a shake of his head, when she fell silent.

"My dear Raelin. You are wrong about that bond that we share." Murmured as he rose to stand, now moving to take a lean on the counter beside her. Using two fingers to touch her chin, to turn her eyes to his, A sly grin given to her, showing her a brief hint of the truth.

"But if you feel that everything we had was lost. Then I shall take my leave and never bother you again." Moving from her before she could react, as he made his way towards the door. Leaving the book she laid before him on the table.

Raelin

She starred in to his eyes lost in them as he spoke, she felt that need to lean in to his touch. And so she did even if just for a moment.Everything came rushing back to her, it wasn't as of she could forget it. She caught that grin. She was still washe d over through the moment, she didnt see him moving. How was it he was at the door? He was leaving? No, No, No, No. She should have detached herself from the counter. She should have screamed those words. But she couldn't move. Did she honestly think what they had was lost? No. She loved him still.

But something kept her still, even as he unlocked the door and left. What was she doing? She was moving now but it was too late. She stood alone in the shope the door still open to the night outside. This was stupid she should run after him.But the night was dark. What was she scared of? Not the night, not the darkness. No shed have to be a fool to fear those. She was a vampire, and a witch. Both danergous things alone but together she could be even more dangerous. It wasn't the night or darkness she feared. It was the idea of lossng him all over again, and now he had walked away before she could ask him to stay. Beg him to,plead with him.

But it was too late. She looked to the book there still on the table and walked slowly over to it and sat, the door seemed to blow closed of its own magic. But she did not trise to lock it, she just pressed her fingers over the worn writting in the book.

Once he was out of sight, he closed his eyes as he had moved into a darkened alley way. Slowly bones started to pop and shirked, with his form starting to change. After a few long minutes, a white wolf stood where he had been. Clothes had magically followed the change.

The wolf then moved out of the alley way, before making it's way back to Raelin's shop. Carefull to avoid the people outside, then came to a stop just outside that shop door. Only to settle on it humches, ice blues looking into the shop.

A light howl would echo, through the night..Yet it seemed to echo more in the shop. As if trying to draw attention to it's self from the lone shop owner. Whom was running her fingers over a book that had been left behind.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-14 00:42 EST
She wouldn't cry, she wouldn't cry. She took a breath and closed the book, and rose putting it away. Then a sound outside drew her gaze. Was thata wolves howl? She walked away from the book shelf towards the door. It was an odd sound it didn't sound like a lycan,or any other werewolf type. No this sounded like a real wolf. She peered though the window in to the night.

A white wolf. She starred at the creature for a moment throught he window then slowly opened the door. Wolves were magical creatures, creatures of night and of the hunt.Family creatures. Pack runners. But this was a lone wolf. A lone white wolf, it was a beautiful creature.

She looked to it,slowly, then knelt to her knees. "Hello there." She smiled bitting back tears still, holding out one hand towards it, carefully. "Are you lost my wolf friend?" She looked to its ice blue eyes for a moment. It couldn't be.

Son of Man

Slowly the wolf gave a lick to her hand, before moving by her and into the shop. Moving towards the table, before hopping up on it. Jaws openning to pluck the book up. The wolf then hopped down on the ground, before heading up the stairs.

Up and into the loft, as the wolf seemed to just phase through the door. And by the time Raelin would have followed and openned the door. The wolf was gone, with the book laying on the bed. Once she moved further inside. The door would shut.

Zach was leaning back against it, smiling innocently to her. "Look what the wolf dragged in." Waving a few fingers at her, as he turned to open the door. To head out another time.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-14 01:06 EST
She giggled to the lick and wahcted it walk in to her shope. The door closed behind her. As she moved to lock the one of four locks the wolf jumped on the table, "My table." At least there wasnt too much left on it now, then of all things it took the book. "Hey thats mine." She ran after it now as it headed under the break in the counter and in to the work room. She had to jump the counter and follow it through the work room. It was already gone up the stairs. Turning the lights off int he shope as she went.

She hurried up after it but as she opened the door in to her loft it was gone. The book on her bed and Zach was there. "Zach..did you see?" She blinked at him. What the wolf dragged in . She eyed his grin on that line. How did he? How was it possible? And he was turning to go again. "No, your not leaving again. "

She blocked the door, there was only one very small high window, no way else in or out. "I want you to stay, please." She starred at him, wondering if her assumption that he might have been the wolf. The idea played in her mind as she looked back to his face, those ice blue eyes. Was it even possible? Some vampires could become wolves, she had never know Zach to have that power. Some witches, wizards and mages could turn them selves in to animals. She starred ta him for a long moment still blocking the way.

"I should have never let you go the first time.." She moved from the door towards him. And now after fighting it for so long she hurried to him and embraced him. Carefully of coarse she didn't want to hurt him.

Son of Man

Date: 2009-09-15 23:52 EST
His brows rose as she blocked the door, before moving his arms around her lightly when she embraced him. One hand stroking her hair. "Very well.. I will stay for now." Murmured down to her before moving from the embrace. Nodding to the bed, as he moved to shut the door.

"As for you.. Get some sleep. I promise I will still be here when you wake in the morning." This said as he turned to move to the bed, plucking the book up. He then moved to sit down in the only chair in the room as he started to read it. Knowing it would help with his memory.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-16 00:21 EST
She smiled to him and as he took a step back so did she. .He was staying though, that was something. "Immortals don't need sleep." But she wished for it, to lay in her cozy bed. "But I think I might need it this once." He had always been a man of his word, though he had never uttered those words before. He had neevr been one to stay till dawn.. Always gone before it. She watched him sit in the green chair in the corner of the room, the cozy chair more cozy than the two wooden chairs by her small kitchen table. She climbe din to bed and curled under the covers and closed her eyes.

He would have full access to her loft. It was small, It was small, three rooms, the bedroom, a kitchen dinning area, and a very small bath room. . There was a small bed, a wooden desk ,dresser and her books shelves. The kitchen had the modern applainaces of a stove and fridge,a nice sink and shed brought her own round coffee table of wood with matching chairs.

Of coarse there were wild herbs in their little boxes, flowers of every kind in vases and growing out of pots. Herbs drying dangling just aove his full height when standing there in the kitchen. The fridge was stocked with human food as well as blood both human and animal.

The dresser was old, it held her clothes and on top were crysals, herbs and tools of her trade. The desk had an ink well ,pen and paper. He was seated in its chair. On the desk was that old chest with the cursive R, its cletic markings shown in the lamp light. On the desk was also that crystal bowl with Balm of Gilead , Dittany of Crete , and Mastic.Inside, Next tot he bowl was laying that cresnt moon pendant upon its leather like rope. She'd taken it out again.

She was sleeping now, soundly. He had free reign to her loft and the shope below. There were books on the shelves there in the room along with herbs, spices, gems, and jewlery of different kinds. There was more tan just one book he could look at, not only the one in his hand. Seeminly of their own accord the books that he ight want to peek at pulled them shelves slightly from their shelf and poked out of their neat lines. Some were on the old world as Raelin had called it, some where on vampires, and magic. Things he might want t read up on.

Son of Man

As Raelin slept, Zach would be reading the book she tried to give him earlier. Using the moonlight coming through the window to do so. A glance up from the book every so often as each memory returned, as fell into place. Yet not a word would pass his lips, before he marked his place to stand and pace the loft.

It got him to remember a pendent he wore, which was now missing. A grin crossed his lips as he moved to the chest he had given her, then slowly openned it. There it was laying on top. "As I guessed." Murmured quietly to himself, before he plucked it up. Slipping it around his neck till the cool metal rested against his chest.

He then closed the chest, before moving to look out the window. It was just past midnight, as he set the book on the table. He then shifted his form to that of the white wolf, before moving to hop onto the foot of the bed. Curling up while laying his head on his forepaws to sleep. Sure to be a shock to Raelin.

Raelin

Sleep was always an odd experience for her. She was no longer mortal so sleeping was more for the healing of mind, body and spirit than real rest. But she did dream, she always had dreams. Az had called them visions more than true dreams. What once was, what could be.

She had this dream before. Alone in the woods where he had died. But not alone. It was jnight, it was a full moon. The glow illuimated the trees, and that white wolf sitting there. Shed seen it tonight, so it wasnt odd she would dream of it.But she had this dream ebfore soon after Zaos had been killed. A white wolf, lit by the moon with blue eyes....

She shot up in bed as the sun light played over her face. When had the sun risen? What time was it? Barely six am. There he was that white wolf all curled up at the foot of her bed, sleepimg.Where was Zach? "Zach?" She sat up and looked at the wolf again.

She reached out to pet it, stroke it behind its ear. It was a beautiful creature. And it was soft, her hand ran over its coat slowly. "Where did you come from? And where is Zach?" She looked to the chair where he had been the book was in it. And she felt like something was off. She looked at the wolf again, this was the second time shed seen it, in real life. She'd seen it in her dreams before. More times now than she could recall. Her fingers lingered on the wolfs head and she sat back. Was she still dreaming?

Son of Man

The white wolf stirred as Raelin's hand started to pet it's head. Getting his eyes to slide open, then turned to look at her. Sitting up as those ice blues locked onto her eyes. A cresent moon pendent hanging around it's neck.

It then rose up, before moving up to her only to lay down again. Resting it's forelegs and head in her lap. Eyes falling shut again, totally at ease around her. Then again, perhaps there was a secret the wolf held, to wht Zach appeared to not be in the room.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-17 14:05 EST
She watched it as it rose. It was weraing the cresent moon pendant.Zachs pendant, the pendant of the circle. She watched as it laid its head and forelegs in her lap. She ran her hand down his head again. She blinked, unsure of what to make of the moment. There was no way a wolf could get a pendant on. Perhpas it was some sort of pet?No. That seemed silly. She stroked it again, down its back. Magic is real, she reminded her self. "Zach?" Her brows rose as she touched the wolfs ear.

It was acting like a watch dog, looking after her. She ran her fingers over its fur softly. How would it be possilbe ? Man to a wolf? Magic was real .yes, but was that possible. Werewolves turned from wolf to man,but that was different.A lycan and a wolf were very different creatures.

She sat there for a long moment, letting the sun come in. She slipped out of bed carefull not to jar the resting wolf and shut the high blinds and curtain over that one high window. She had to get dressed and ready for work. She wondered if the store should stay closed today , no she couldnt.

Tonight was the meeting of the coven in the clearing past the forest to the north.Tonight was the full moon. Shed have customers today. Many, she was sure of that. She slid along in her bare feet and picked out what to wear for work. Shed wear somehting different later. She looked at the resting wolf, letting her questions drop before she went to bathe and change.

She came out about fifteen mintues later dressed and nearly ready. The room filled with the scent of lavender and rose. She hummed softly, still bare foot. She wore a pair of black pants, sleek and perfectly ironed it seemed. A lovely feminine shirt of the softest rose pink, it swooped low along her shoulders and neck. Her hair was down in long waves of chestnut. She hung the triple goddess necklace from her neck as she stoled by her desk. She eyed the empty chair, the book, and the wolf all again. She touched the chest there. She looked to the wolf again as she tened to making her morning meal and tea.

"Hungry?"She asked the wolf with a risen brow as she sat down. She had a cup of tea, a plate of eggs and bacon, with a side of toast, fruit and juice. As well as what looked like a black shot glass, it was full of a dark liquid as well. She downed that first before she began to eat. She had so many questions. But she had to focus on work, she had to eat go down stairs clean up and get the table ready. As well as dust and ready the rest of her shop. Shed have to go looking for more supplies after the full moon ceremony. She ate while humming.

There would be time for questions later. She sipped ehr tea,and took a bite of food. She could begin to piece together who Zach had returned to her later on.

The white wolf watched her as she moved to get ready for another day of work, as it stretched there on the bed. Then let out a yawn, before hopping down off the bed. The wolf then moved to follow her down into the shop, only to sit down by her.

It's head tilted to the offer of food, before nudging her side. A silent yes, before settling by her chair again. Waitting for that offered meal, as those ice blues gazed unblinking up at her. Again that pendent was in plain sight, as it now seemed to glow for a brief moment. A perfect match to her own magic aura. It only done that when Zach wore it.

Raelin

Date: 2009-09-18 00:31 EST
She watched the wolf as it followed her around the loft. She felt the nudge and before taking another bite she looked in ehr fridge for wolf worthy food.

"What do wolves eat?I don't suppose they are like dogs?Who will eat almost anything... hmm how about some of this meat?"She had bought some meat fromt he bucher along with her blood. She held the package out and showed it to him. Then sat it on the counter opened it and started cutting off slices. She rummaged through her cabnets for a bowl.Once she found one she took the meet and set the pieces in it, the blood didnt seem to erk her, she just licked it off her fingers and sat the bowl down by the table.

"There you go." She looked at that pendant, that glow of power. That kind of power Zach and she both had. But it didnt always glow, only when Zach wore it. She shook her head at the wolf. "I hope you don't shed too much." She grinned as she ate her food, and drank her tea and juice.

She finsihed her food and sat her plate in the sink. She wondered if he might need water so she filled another bowl with that and sat it on the floor beside the food dish.It was like having a dog. A sexy sleek dog, who could kill people for you. She left her dishes in the sink, shed get to them later she had a shope to clean.

"Now, if you come down stairs stay behind the counter or in the work shope, you'll likely scare any customers I have.." She gave his head a pat and smirked to herself before going down to clean the shope up and open for the day.

The day had gone swftly. The qestions in he rmind still bothered her. But she had busied her self with customers the full day. They came and went. Some were her usualls looking for some herb or spice to help with dinner. Some for a hint of this or that to add to a love spell or healing ritual. She saw two of the coven as well.

Raelin learned that Jasmine was the one with hair white as A lillys petals and eyes of jade. And Holly was the one with the in soft ringlets of bright golden hair and twany eyes. They came in for some good for tonight, they made sure Raelin was coming,

Raelin had not been a part of a coven since leaving the old world. Shed gone from circle to circle ,coven to coven. Not ever sure she would ever truly fit in. She was more than they were, she was immortal. But some how Raelin knew that Acacia knew this. She had seen that look in the elders eyes. Raelin tended to customers as they came and went. The day went so quickly, that when lucnh came and went and the sun began to set she was amazed.

"Well, quite the day." She flipped the closed sign over, it was still early yes, but she had to go up and get ready for the meeting. She closed and locked the door, and pulled the curtains and shades and went up stairs. She breezed in to ehr loft and opened her dresser. She didn;t know what to wear, every coven had its own style, she ahdnt really paid attention to whatt he women wore. And most covern withces wore normal clothes in the light of a normal day. She dug through her dresser looking for something nice.

Not black, she went past her neatly folded dresses. Not white either, she was hardly pure enough to weara white dress to a full moon ritual. "Ahh there you are." She pulled out the dress, it was long, flowing and beautiful . It was perfect. "This will do nicely." She brezzed in to ehr bath room and changed inw hat seemed like a moment. Magic flickered in the air. She stepped out int he dress, the bottom hem touched the top of her ankles, and she was wearing matching shoes, they were low,no heel. Her hair was up now, in intricut weve of braids. The dress was the color of amethyst, it had a swooping neckline, a U shape. It had short sleeves so over her arm she had a off white jacket. She wore that silver celtic cross, the silver tripple goddess.

She looked in the mirror, and fixed her makeup with a simple glamor spell. She wanted to look fresh and nice. "I hope this is good. I havent been to a ritual or coven meeting in a very long time. How do I look?" She was still eyeing herself in the mirror. Myabe she should wear pants? But she looked nice in that dress. But she have to carry a puse just to have a real weapon on her, just in case. She wasnt getting hunted down through the streets again.

She leaned over her desk and drew up the only purse she had it was sleek and black with a long strap. She gave the leather a tap, and it changed colors, from black to a tone justa little deeper than her amethyst dress.

She nodded to herself once. She would go soon. She wondered what else she should bring, perhaps some token of her thanks? She eyed her room, what to bring. It had been so long since she'd gone to anything witha coven.

For the most part after getting something to eat, the while wolf laid on the bed upstairs sleeping. As there was no sight of Zach all day long, the wolf then stirred as Raelin came up to get ready for her meeting with the coven members. Stretching out a moment, before hopping down off the bed. Shaking out it's fur for a moment, then moved over towards her.

Cold nose nudged against her leg, before looking up at her. In a silent question of wanting to head out with her. As the wolf sat down beside her, before getting a light mouth full of her dress, and gave it a light tug. It wasn't like the wolf had much to do there at the shop.

She bent down to him as his cold nose touched her leg and as he tugged on her dress she ran her fingers over his head. "I hope you enjoyed your restful day. "She knew he had spent most of the day in her loft as she tended to customers in the shope. "Yes, your coming to. I dont have any room in this little thing for much more of a weapon than some bodice knife." Which wa sin there. " I am sure you'll be a huge hit witht he coven,we witches tend to like wild creatues."

She slipped her jacket over her arms and hung her purse down. across her body then rose to her feet. "Shall we?" She headed to the loft door and out down the steps in to the dark shope. She picke dher way through the work room, then behind the counter, then through the main of the shope and tot he shope door, she unlocked it and stepped out allowing the wolf to follow her out before she closed and locked the door.

She looked around once over the quiet of the market place and headed out through the lamp light towards the meeting spot. She had brought some healing crystals and pressed flowers in her bag just incase. Northward her steps took her, with that wolf at her side. She stillw as wary of the streets of Rhydin.

Once she reached the outskirts of town she tooka long breath the air was cold and clear and eprfect out here. She had the forest before her and the path to follow. She looked tot he sky, the sun was set the moon would rise soon, full. She would have to hurry. She looked down at the wolf and went in tot he forest ,she conhured a little light to elad the way through the darkness.

She walked in slience not knowing what she would talk about. She was nervous. Soon the trees were lit with small lanterns she knew she was getting closer. As the trees thined out the clearning opened up, there theyw ere the coven, there were more than just the six she had met, she bit her lip. There were about fifteen of them, they looked to eb all women, that wasnt uncommon there werent may men that performed magic in this city, or if there were they kept it to them selves. She took a long bretah and proceeded on.

"Oh Miss Raelin your here ." Holly stood before her, in a dress of off white, her ringlets were now smoother more like waves of golden hair her twany eyes were wide. " Acacia is over there."She pointed. "Were about to get started." Raelin nodded to the young girl and proceeded to cross the open space to Acacia. The elder stood with Chry and Angelica by her.

Acaica wore a dress of pale blue, her salt and pepper hair down and flowing her eyes fill with wisdom and magic. Chry stood to ehr left, dressed in an ash gret skirt and black top, her sea blue hair up in briads much like Raelins own. Angelica wore a skirt as well one of jade green her top was also black.

Raelin saw Damiana across the way her long raven hair in waves, and she wore a light rose toned dress Jasmine was ebside her, she was in a skirt that was dark as the sky at mifnight, and a top that was the color of the sky at dawn. Her lilly whute hair was down and shimmering. There were faces that Raelin did not know, some seemed like elders, some were younger.

"Thank you for coming Raelin." Acacia smiled

The wolf followed her through the shop, as Raelin lead the way out. Then off towards the forest, as it looked around. Taking in the path they took before looking over the coven members, as it left her side to sniff at them.

After sniffing each coven member, the wolf moved back to Raelin's side. Plopping down in the cool grass, as it's eyes closed. Resting it's head on it's front legs. Yet one could tell thatr at the drop of a hat, or at the barest hints of trouble. It was ready to spring into action.

None of the coven members seemed to take the sight of the wolf as an odd sight nor did any of them shy away from it as it sniffed at them . Holly and Jasmine even bet down to give the creature a stroke of their hand over its fur. Raelin chukled lightly as he went about sniffinf everyone. She shook her head at him once he returned to her and then watched him lay down.

Acacia smiled softly watching the wolf. "I see you have a protector. " She looked to the tree behind here where sat a white snowy owl with huge eyes. " That is Salis, my own protector. We each have our own, you will come to meet them here tonight. Come let us go in to the circle." Raelin nodded and followed her in to the center of the clearing. The others joined them joining hands. There was the moon peeking over the horizon now.

"Sisters we come here this night to celebrate the moon, our beloved mother. And to welcome a new member. " Acacia spoke, her words flowed easily. "Everyone please welcome Raelin." Then they all bowed to her smiling and welcomed her. With a uniformed, "Merry Meet."

"Now then we shall all lay somehting int he center of the circle,a gift to the goddess." One by one they each went setting simple thing sin the center.Raelinw as glad she had brought herbs, flowers and a few crystals with her. When it was her turn she sat a green crystal in the center. Then they all bowed their ehads and chanted a few words. The moon rose higher and higher. They called the elements to their cirlce, and passed around a blessed goblet of red wine.

Then they let the elements part and as the moon was high they broke the circle. It had been evry simple, but a very powerful circle. Raelin had felt it, the pusle of the magics between each member.

Once it was over Acaica smiled to Raelin. The six women she had met before came over.Angelica,Chry,Damiana,Jasmine and Holly . Now in the full moon light Raelin could truly see them. Angelica who had appeared mortal to her eyes in the shope , was not mortal at all. Raelin could see that now, how the light reflected in the womans eyes. She was an immortal. And Chry, she was elven, her ears were pointed at the tips, she must have hidden that before. And Jasmine, Jasmine was something else, something mroe wild and a kin to a wolf creature. They ahd hidden their true forms with magic before but now did not bother. As they all stood there Salis flew over and perched on Acaicas shoulder. "Why dont you all let your protectors and companions come over." Acaica nodded to the five women standing there. They each nodded.

One by one they called to the protectors or companions. Angelicas was a tall slight man, with golden hair and eyes. As he moved his form shifted from man to hawk and he too perched upon Angelicas shoulder. "This is Hermes, my beloved. He too is like me, but part shape shifter." Raelins eyes shifted to Chry, a moment ago she stood alone, but now there was an elven man with her. He was fair as she was, yet his hair was raven black, his eyes twany brown nearly gold. " This is Adresin Halafarin my husband, company and protector." Raelin watched as they linked hands. Damiana looked to the woods and out came a panther, the creature was graceful and cautious. "This is Dylan, he is my protector. " The panther curled up at her side. Jasmine looked off to the woods as well and out came a wolf, black as night save for the long grey stripe that ran down its side. It was a massive creature, larger than any wolf Raelin had ever seen. "This is Jet, he is my companion and protector. He too is like me."The wolf eyed the other wolf there slightly before curling at Jasmines feet. Holly was last she looked to the sky and there was a flicker and a flash then suddenly there was a sprite upon her shoudler. "This is Shonassir he is my guardian."

Raelin smiled to each , then looked to her own white wolf. "This is Zach... he is my protector, guardian and beloved. He is more than he seems much like myself." Acacia and the others laughed to that then each pair went off to a tree to sit. Acacia stood there a moment. "Allow me to intoduce the rest of our happy coven. " She took Raelins hand and led her towards the others.

There was Ivy who was young like Holly. Ivys hair was red like flame and her eyes were as green as the ivy leaf.

Heather, who was also young, her eyes were purple and filled with wonder, her hair was black, but int he moon light Raelin could see that it had hints of purple as well.

Ruby, whos hair was the same color as her name, her eyes were deep full of wisdom past ehr age.

Amber, whos hair was short and blonde and who seemed rather shy.

Glory, whos hair was so pale blonde it was nearly silver, and eyes like jade.

Aphrodite, who had long dark braids and skin touched by the sun, tanned golden.

Demeter, who was pixie like her hair was shrt and black, her eyes were wide and grey toned.

Cara, who was of drow kin, whos hair was snow white and eyes were red.

And Selen another elder, wise and old, her hair was ash grey and her eyes were dark blue like the midnight sky. They each had their own companion, some were men, some were beasts,or birds. But they were all very kind.

Acacia let Realin meet everyone on her own. They were all there in the clearing sitting in the grass, byt the trees looking up at the moon. Raelin felt such peace here, like herself. She soon sat down in tot he grass beside Zach.

She sat there wathcing the coven membes. Her hand laid to Zach's furry head. Everyone was paired off watching the moon go from high to low. Then all at once it seemed each memeber pulled off in tot he woods leaving only Acacia.

" I hope you both enjoyed the ritual." She smiled down at Raelin. "There will b another one in three days, right here. I do hope to see you both theree." Raelin smiled and nodded, "We will be here."

Acacia nodded and slwoly left the clearing with the white snowy owl following her. Raelin looked at Zach wondering if he was sleeping. She was not used to hm in this form. "Zach?" She played with his ears and she saw one eye opena nd settled upon her. She smirked, "Time to go home." She rose up and he followed suit.

She began the long walk home, the wolf at her side. It was like that night int he woods before he ahd died. Quiet yet some how perfect. Every day, one day at a time. She looked down at the wolf and shook her head. Soon Rhydin came in to view and the market place. She unlcoked the shope and let him go in first. She locked up behind herself once inside and headed up to change for bed.

Once in bed she smirked at him curled up at the foot of her bed already sound asleep. She gave hima soft pet. Tomorrow was anyother day.

Come morning, the wolf would be go. As Zach would already be downstairs, in the kitchen whipping Raelin up one of his special dishes. He then moved up the stairs, before looking at her sleeping a moment. He then placed the tray on the table, that he had been using when he read the books she left out for him.

"Wake up." Over his shoulder to the sleeping Raelin, as he opened the curtian to let the light in. With him moving towards the bathroom to take a nice long hot shower. He needed it as he had spent the last few days in his wolf form.

She looked at him as he retreated tot he bath room, and there on her dinning table was a plate of food. The kitchen smelled of it. It was eggs, and toast and fruit. It looked very good, and also a shot glass with her animal blood in it. She rose from the ebd and padded for the table, there not even six feet away. She sat down, shaking off the sleepful night.

She ate her food quickly, tasting it just barely. She washed the dishes he had made and got dressed all before he was out of the shower. It was late she had to open the shope. She tossed on something comfortable yet classy. And pulled her hair back. Then went down stairs throught he work room out in to the shope. She pulled the shades open and unlocked and opened the door. She set tos weeping, humming a tune to get the work done.

She would thank him for breakfast later. She had the shope to ready, dust to puff away.

After his shower, and getting dressed. He moved down the stairs and into the shop, smirking as he watched ehr sweeping and buzzing around the shop. Shaking his head slightly, as he moved down to help out. This was done as he started to restock the shelves, before moving off to the side.

He would help anyone that was looking to buy something from the shop. Helping them to find something, as well as trying to smooth talk them into buying things they probably had no use for. With him flashing Raelin a hidden smile when he was able to pull it off.

Raelin

She just went about her normal day catching his grin when he got someone to buy soemthing they truly didnt need. But Raelin most of the time would tell them whent hey came to check out thathe was her new help and that he was just trying too hard and all they needed was this or that. She wasnt in business to lie. No matter how much got sold. She watched the female customers fall all over them sleves at his help and the mens eemed to come to Raelin and avoid Zach all together.

Then a dark cloak cd Raelin smiled she knew that cloak. "Damiana." She smiled tot he tall beauty with the raven hair. Damiana smiled back as she lowered her hood. "Merry Meet Raelin. "Her eyes panned to Zach by the book shelf. " Your guardian?" Raelin nodded, "Zach, yes. Hes gone human today."

Damiana ndodded and her blue eyes lingerd on him."Handsome fellow. " She offered hima flirtaious smile. Raelin knew hed like that. "What can I do for you today ?" Damiana looked back at Raelin, "Dylan, is in need of a slight healing,I was wondering if you had any catnip,Camphor Cedar and Chamomile." Raelin nodded and went to fetch each thing, sitting them on the couter. "How did Dylan get hurt?" Damiiana shrugged, " he gets in fights in the woods, with bears and wolves and lycans. Were beasts and such." She leaned ont he counter still eyeing Zach. Raelin tried to pay it no mind. Damiana paied the asked price and stuck the things in to her side bag. "Thank you Raelin, belssed be." To the door she went but not before winking at Zach.

Raelin shook her head and went to counting up the days fair so far as the mid day sun rose through the high windows.

Raelin

The day was done and she was stocking the self. The book case looked so empty people were happily buying up things, she pressed her hand to the shelf, thinking about how Damiana had flited with Zach. She wasn't jealous, thats what she told herself. She dusted and sneezed and stocked

And he slipped up behind her as she was stocking the shelves. "You hide that jealousy very poorly dear." Said as his hands came up to trap her between himself and the shelves. She turned and looked at him. "What are you talking about?" She was trapped between hima nd the book shelf, not that she couldnt move him if she wanted to.

"When your friend flirted with me." Oh he knew she could get free, but would she as he moved a hand up to playfully caress her cheek and neck. Her eyes fluttered softly at his touch. "Damiana?" Her brows went up. " Shes allowed to flirt with you, she has no ties." She blushed softly, but didnt move .

"True..but you want me to be yours. " Murmured as he leaned in towards her. As his hand continued to caress her neck Her eyes fluttered more, and she caught her breath a little But thats just me. she elaned in to his touch . " Damiana seems very nice though I don't know how much Dylan would like you. "Speaking of the witches panther guardian

He smirked to that. "Then maybe I should go find out. " Slowly pulling back from her, yet so giving her the chance to stop him. She bit at her lip and darted around him to t stop him. " You shouldnt go .." She stood in his way, though he could move her or around her.

His brows quirked to that. " Why not? " He leaned down towards her again. "Scared that I might not come back?" Now running a finger up and down her chest. She eyeed that finger that ran along her chest over her shirt and skin. "Yes ,"she admitted . "A woman like Damiana is likely skilled in the ways of passion and love, she is named after the most powerful love spell flower in all of magic after all..." She bit more at her lower lip. "And besides,I need your help," anything to keep him there .

"You don't need my help." Sloowly moving around her, as he was enjoying this game of cat and mouse. "Yes I do ,"she moved to stop him again standing in front of the already closed but not locked door. "I need your help ."smiling softly "with stocking, you can reach higher up." She wasnt short, and yes she could stand on a chair, so she was bluffing

And she stoped him at the door, getting him to smirk. "You are bluffing..you can stand on a chair. " Tapping her nose lightly.

Her brow furrowed a little he caught her, he always could. "I want you to stay." She wasnt moving, shed be damned if she let him leave. " That so?" Leaning down to her, very slowly. Hands pressing into the door frame about level with her hips. She eyed his hands as they pressed tot he door frame around her hips. She nodded softly and took a breath. " Yes, that is so." She starred up in to his eyes, and got lost in them .

Without a word, his hand snapped up catching her chin. He then pressed his lips to her's, slowly kissing her right there in front of the door. She didnt resist that kiss,s hed been thinking about it for so long now sicne hed returned to her. So she sank in to it, that slow kiss. That had her mind shutting up and she just let her self feel .

And the moment she sank into the kiss, he pulled back from her. Then turned to start stocking her shop. Whistlinginnocently. She stood there, blinking. He'd pulled awaya nd was stocking? She sighed and shook her head locked the door and pushed her way through the break in the counter . Then through the door in to the work shope

He looked over his shoulder, before following her into that work shope. Then spun her around into yet another long slow kiss. She was caught again by surpise by that kiss , but sank even more in to it that time, letting her finger tips brush along his arms

He started to pull back again, giving her time to lace her arms around his neck. To hold him in that embrace. She wasnt letting him go not again, not this time her fingers inched up behind his neck, and she inched in closer tighter to hold him there .

And he moved his arms around her. One into her hand the other on the small of her back. Letting the kiss continue. She let the kiss linger a moment longer, though she wished shed let her self letit linger forever. She pulled back from the ksis and let her hands rest to his shoulders, her cheeks went from pale to pink in seconds. He slowly smirked down at her. "I see you wish to keep me as your own. "

"I dont want to keep you Zach I.." She looked at him and shook her head, she couldnt say the words those three little words . "Your a man, not a house cat your not to be kept. I do enjoy having you here her hand pressed to his chest where I can.. " hold you, kiss you, be close to you, love and adore you .nothing came out. "You are a very poor liar. " He smirked as he pulled back from her, as he turned to head back to restocking the shelves.

She let him go letting her hands fall at her sides. She had once been very good at lying, but never to him. She stood there for a long moment then went tot he back counter and started binding up the bundles of dried flowers.Muttering to herself as she did so. " You love me and you know it! " Said before he slipped out of the work shope.

She shot a look back at him and nearly crushed the dired lavender in her hands, she tooka long breath and sat it down back on the counter and went to through the door and back in to the shope. she eyed him stocking , "Yes I do.. but you already know that. " "Then say it. "Smirking at her as he continued to stock the shelves. "Say everything that you want to say to be but can't. "

She stood there staring at him in shock. If she said it all out loud would she regret it later?Likely so, but she should say it . "You know what I wish ... you know that I love you ." She didnt move she didnt even glance away, her hands pressed together in front of her. "You know I wish things were as they used to be, but they can never be that way. But it does not change that I wish they could be that way. That you would.. " She looked away then .

"I am here with you." Was all he said to her as he moved about her shop, locking the door inbetween stocking the shelves. " I know .. "she moved now back behind the work room door . "Turn off the light when your done ." She left him there parting her way through ehr beaded curtain and up the stairs silently.

He nodded as he quickly finished up, then followed her. After turning off the lights. He then shut the door leading downstairs. She was locked in the bath room. She didnt even know if he had come up stairs and she was muttering at her self as she soaked in the tub. He glanced to the bathroom, before moving to knock on the door. "Hurry up in there. " She glared at the door and muttered more then rose out of the tub and wrapped herself in a towel then stalked to the door. She wrapped herself up in a robe and glared outward as she opened the door

And the moment she opeened the door. He moved by her. "You look hot when you are pissed at me." She glared more at him and flicked water at him as she dried off her hair ."And you could look like a much shorter man if you test me ." " You can't and never will hurt me. "Said as he started to undress. She muttered and knew he was right; yeah yea she stalked away to her dresser drawers and pulled out her night wears then slid around the wall to change. "Not going to watch? "Just as she moved off, as he left the door open. He then moved to take a nice slow shower.

She wing behind that wall, eyes closed. "No" she called out, oh she wanted to watch but wouldnt she changed behind that wall and came out once he was gone " You lie! " Called out over the water. She wanted him back, and it seemed she got her wish..And what an evil rogue he turned out to be now.

She muttered curses at the clsoed door and went to sit in her favred chair that plush green desk chair. She would let her hair dry naturally. Just forgetting that he was such a rogue After his shower, he'd come out as nude as the day he was born. Letting himself air dry. Poor Raelin..

She tried to look down at that book in her lap but she couldnt,s he shook her head and brought it up to block her view no where to run ot hide. He grinned to that as he used his mind to move that book, as he oh so slowly got dressed. She watched the book move out of her hands. She scwoled but watched any how, but then hid her face away in her hands and hair.

He smirked to that scowl. "Raelin..come here. " Holding his hand out to her. She peered out from her hands was he dressed? Her face was ruby red by now, yes theyd eben together dozens of times and shed seen everythign already but it felt odd, different now some how, but she rose to her feet and walked to him He pulled her into his arms, as he was wearing a pair of clean pants. " You look lovely. "

And she was in his lap and blushing now more than ever, she wore a simple night gown silk, that was the softet shade of plum. "Thank you.. " she eyed his chest then starred in to his eyes , "Welcome." He kissed her browmbefore turnning to lay her on the bed. He then moved up to lay on his side. And she lay down beside him,but not facing him no, shed get lost in his eyes and end up telling all her vivid thoughts and deams .

To bad as he tried to get her to roll to lay against him. Not that she would mind that one little bit. And she rolled over and against him, blushing. She bit at her lip and starred down at where ehr hands rested on his chest. One hand caressed her back, with the other one stroking her hair. "Now you can stop being jealous. "

She looked in to his eyes and nodded " I cant help it,I mean those women, they are all so.. so beautiful and powerful." She starred back at her hands and smiled softly to that caress. He shook his head lightly. " If I wanted them..I wouldn't be here ."

She nodded to that. "I know that . " She let her fingers wander a little over his chest . " Then stop worrying about it." Moves a hand down to give her rump a smack. She yipped lightly and smiled and nodded "alright. "

The following moring Raelin was up early, she planned to keep the shope closed today as she needed to re stock. Some things came by ship, or courier, other things she went out and found.Today was not the day for any of that with all the rain. Zach woke up, stretching on the bed before looking around for Raelin. He slipped out of the bed, before moving towards the bathroom to take a shower. She yipped softly when she ran right in to him. " Morning " She was coming out of the bath room, all dressed and ready. But for no real reason, maybe shed go dust or something.

" Morning." He chuckled as she yelped when she came out of the bathroom. He then moved inside as he moved to take a shower. She shook her head and went to make some breakfast for them both. She felt oddly out of place knwoing the shope would be closed. There would be no steady banter of customers to save her from being alone with him. He would come down in just a pair of pants, as he dried his hair. Letting her get another nice veiw of his form, before he tossed the towel on the counter. " Smells good. "

She froze a moment. Shed gome down stairs to the stove in the work shope she liked it better some times. She nodded and slid a plate of food to he table. " Thank you," she looked at him, then away. "Welcome." Catching hos shy she had gotten, before shaking his head softly. "You have seen me nude many times..You never looked away once.. now you do.. Why? " Like he was talking about the weather, as he slowly started to eat.

She glanced back at him as she sat down. "That was before.". She didnt really have a good reason, he was right shed seen him nude thousands of times. He had never had anything to hide, and once upon a time neither had she. " I guess it just feels different to me.." He nodded lightly. "Not that you mind the veiw.. Seeing how you were rather..close to me." Winking at her.

She blushed softly as she took another fork full of food. " I have never minded the view. And I enjoy being close to you." She admited it. "I was planning on keeping the shope closed today.I need to restock and today is no day for that with the weather.." He nodded lightly. " It's nice to be back. " He sipped the coffee, before looking at the front of the shop. Taking note that it was rainning.

She nodded and sipped her tea. She had made him coffee and her self tea just like the old days. Yet in the old days there would be extra things added to each, but not now. " The rain is nice at least. But it means a day in doors." "Is that so bad?" Looking at her from over the rim of his cup before setting it to the side. He then took another bite of the food. She had gotten him used to it when they first met.

She shook her head. "No its not ." She remembered how he used to hate human food. Then through her alone he got used to it and started having people cook for him, rather than just hunting. But he was always one for a hunt. She took another sip of tea and rose with her plate to the sink. True..but as time moved on..He usually hunted her down. Scaring her each time. After finishing his food, he took his plate to the sink. He then popped her butt.

She yipped at that and spun to look at him. "Theres not much to do here I am afaird besides, read, or dust.I have very few things ready in the shope." She looked to the piles of dried herbs and the few unfinished jewlery items. He nodded to that, as he moved to work on the jewely for her. A skill she had taught him.

She watched him move away watching him. He had always had great hands, good for magic and art work. Hed always helped with the jewlery hed come up witht he cresent moon design for their covem. She bit at her lower lip her back pressed back to the sink. He looked over his shoulder. "Want to help me? Or are you going to just stare at my back the whole time? "

" Oh yeah." She nodded and walked over to stand beside him, it was usually her job to pick the right gem stone to put in each item. Or to fisnish a necklace by putting a clasp on. So she went to that. He chuckled softly as they worked together, like they had done many times in the past. " What ever happened to Jeardra?" As they traied off jewelry.

She paused at the name. " I havent seen her since that day in the woods.. when you.. well." She took the piece from his hands and was setting a stone in. "She'll turn up sooner or later . You remember her then?" He nodded lightly. He did remember the woman, but did find it odd that she hadn't been seen since that day. " Knowing her shes planning. Shes a fan of plans." She sat the item down it was finished and perfect. "Her lackies are dead, so she might be looking for new ones. "

He nodded again as he turned to lean against the table. "And what if she tries to come after me again?" "I will kill her". She said with out any change in her voice, not a moments pause. She was serious on that one. She looked at him once then went back to work He smirked to that. " My my.. " He leaned down to her ear. "You would kill her for me? " " She killed you,". She glanced at him. " And shed do it again. The last time, she used her powers to over take you, do you recall that? " She was looking right at him now. "I wont give her the chance this time. I will kill her. Not only for you, but for myself as well."

He nodded as he smacked her rump again. " You never know.. She may have changed." With that said he moved to atleast put a shirt on. She watched hm go. "I doubt it " She went to bundling her herbs up. He chuckled and back upstairs he went to find a shirt.

She really wished hed stay like that. She knew that in the back of her mind but just went to bundling. She was stll thinking about the way he had kissed her,she lingered on that thought. And after he came back he spun her around, before cupping her cheeks as he kissed her again. Slowly and softly. She was caught again by surpise. He was good at that lately. Sneaking up on her and kissing her. Not that she minded one bit, she let herself sink in to the slow kiss

And he pulled back just as she sank into the kiss. He then moved to sit at the table, with her journal. She shook her head at him. "What are you doing with that?" Pointing to her journal. She knew eventually hed come across it, sitting plain as day on her night stand.

"Reading it. " Winking at her as he waved it at her. As if baitting her to try and take it from him. She leaned there on the counter eyeing him, shed written in that thing form the day she knew how it was old and worn and shed rebound it many times, adding paper. It as thick. "Have fun, remeber much of your Gaelic? " Some of it was written in Gaelic,French,Italian. Most was english in her fine hand writing.

"Yes." Grinning at her as he slowly started to open it. But was looking over it just enough to see if she'd try to keep him from finding out her more personal thoughts. She snickered and leaned there watching him. SHe didnt much seem to care. When shed first met him he read all her past in three nights, and for the enxt few days talked of nothing else. She once hid nothing from him why should she now?

There was those weeks he was dead.. She could have wrote something during that time. And she had, many things, how she missed him and wished she could bring him back. About ehr dreams about him, that white wolf dream had started then.About how she found that chest for her. The letters, the ring.

He closed the book before holding it out to her. " Here". Sshe starred at it. "Read something you didnt like?" She took it . "I once held no secrets from you, I shouldnt hold any now. " He smirked at her. "You missed me so much." Murmured to her as he beckoned her closer.

" Yes I did." she sat her journal down on the counter and took two steps forward. " Every day. Every night. Wishing I had known sooner, that we could have had more time together." She looked in to his eyes " And now we have that time." Tugging her down into his lap. Letting her shift and curl up against him as he moved his arms around her she shifted easily in to his lap and curled in close to him. " And I am very happy for it ."

She couldnt have been happier for it. In all truth. She wanted to skip and sing and prance around. There was one thing that was stopping her from that. Jeardra. She knew the elf would never change Heradra held Raelin resposible for Az's death. And Jeardra wanted to amke Raelin pay that was the whole point behind killing him. And now he was back, right there.

She was up and gone before dawn the following day. It was still raining but not as bad as the day before. She could go collecting today, there would be new growth. She left a note on the bed, and the table. "Theres food in the fridge, and the shope stays closed, understood.I'll be back by lunch."

The shope would have to stay closed half the shelves were bare shed gone out for hrr supplies. Some got shipped to her, some she got around Rhydin.Today was one of those days where she went out to find the herbs and spices the grew here wild. And anything else she might find along the way. Waste not. Agrimony, Alfalfa, Angelica all grew rather well in Rhydin.Or just outside the city. Along with some wild flowers, and other things she could use like mint and rosemary. She could find Birch and Cedar wood in the forest along ith good leaves. Dandelion and Heather grew along the path ways and under the foot bridges.

She picked each plant with care, snipping some of the brances off this or that or picking the whole plant to be bpotted up later. There was a flicker of movement in the forest. It would have been too fast for any mortal to see. But she saw it. She watched a moment longer then crossed the foot bridge towards the tree line.

There were four of of them hunting. Vampires, ones who stayed out of the city.Hunted wild life they had caught a deer. They were feeding, the scent made Raelin lick her lips. One snapped its head up and looked at her. Familar eyes starred at Raelin. "Raelin Moryggan Connor." The male rose, he was tall six five,he ahd long black hair with streaks of red in it. His eyes were like emeralds glittering multicolors at her. "Jez? " She starred at him and he smirked. "Raelin." He hugged her tightly. "Jez." Raelin smirked. He let her go, "What are you doin here girl?" He had a twang to his voice.

Jez and Raelin had met It seemed like years ago. In the new world. America was spread out and people were all becoming americans. Zaos and Raelin had taken one of their many trips back there. Raelin loved the south, the way the people were so friendly. Shed also met some vampires thereJez ahd been one of them. He had been born and raised in little town in Alabama. He looked different now. He'd always been tall and once hed been lanky. Now he seemed to have filled out some.Once upon a time his hair had been brown like the sand on some rustic beach. Now it was black, his eyes had always been green but not so bright as they were now.

"I arrived here a while back magic drew me on." Se wasnt going to tell him the truth. Jez nodded and looked over to the other three who were still feeding. "Hey y'all save me some." They all stopped and sat back, three females. Raelin should have guessed. One looked familar as well. "Oh Raelin you rember my old gang right? Well half got killed by damned Vamp hunters even after everythign we'd done. We dont eat humans, we stay out of trouble. Then poof were here in this city and well thats it. "He nodded to the three womena nd they came close. Raelin was sure she knew one of them. "So you rember Jesse right?" He pointed to the curvy doe eyed blonde.

Raelin nodded. "Aye." Jez smirked, "And this is Georgia and Harley." He looked frst tot he short brunete with the violet eyes then to the tall thin wisp like woman with dark blue colored hair and the same toned of eyes. They didnt say anything just starred at her then back at the deer. "Go on and finish your hunt Jez." He grinned and the four rushed in to finish off that kill. Raelin had to turn away. She wanted some so badly.

She had blood at home cold blood in her fridge. She didnt hunt much these days got ehr blood from the bucher. Oh how the smell was killing her. Jez came back a few moments later . "Did ya want some?" Raelin shook her head, "no no. I am fine." He smirked at her, " your a lying dog. Its good and fresh. They will share with ya if you like. " Raelin shook her head again, and knew the three vampiresses would finish off that dear and elave the body behind to rot and be picked at.

"So Raelin. "He leaned on a tree. "Out pickin flowers? Wheres Zaos? " The name along made her heart burst. "Zaos is here with me." It wasnt a full out lie. "Oh you two on again huh. " Raelin nodded, "yes, he has a place here. " A lie, but that was alright. Jez nodded. "Me and my ladies have a little place, you and Zaos should drop by, its in the north woods just past the little creek." Raelin nodded, she knew where that was. "Its not much, but if you two stop by we'll have a party for sure. " Raelin nodded, "perhaps we will."

Jez grinned. then saw his females were done. "You should get going ."He nodded softly looking at her all bathed int he sun light, he was half in the sun, it had never bothered him but his females were avoiding the little patches of light. "I see that ring I gave you still works." He nodded, "oh yeah powerful magic. "He flashed his hand up showing that silver band. "Amazing stuff. Oh speakin of I saw Jeardra." Raelin froze, Jez has known the elf witch as well. Jez had met her not long after Raelin. "I didn't know she was here. " He didnt like her. Raelin recalled. "When did you see her?" He thought about it a moment. " Two nights ago, in that nice clearing. We were tracking some deara nd there she was,s he ruined it too, but she caught herself a dear."

Raelin nodded, blood was used in many spells,of the darker magic. Or she could be catching her new lackies food, vampire lackies worked well when hunting a vampire. "Did she see you?"

"Naw, I got out of there. She still gunnin for ya?" Raelin nodded. "Yes. Old habits. " He chuckled, and shook his head. "Well if ya want to throw down with her and need some help I'd be glad to hold her down while ya rip her hair out or what ever." Raelin chuckled to that. "I'll keep that in mind. " She saw him looking over her shoulder and she glanced backwards. Rhydin patrol. "You'd better go." He nodded, his females were already gone in to the shadows. "Yeah, well good seein ya, drop by huh, you and Zaos." Raelin nodded to that and watched him slink off.

So Jeardra was alive and shed been in the clearing. Raelin looked to the sky it was going to start to rain more soon. She headed back to the shope. She vowed to herself that the elf would die. Slowly. And Raelin would keep that vow. She headed back in to town through the drizzle.

She returned home to the shop to find six boxes outside .Just outside the door and thankfully out of the rain. She unlcoked the door and pushed it open.A box in her arms. "Zach?" She called out not being able to see over the box "I could use your manly help." Stumbling feeling for the counter.

Zach was sitting at the table, as he woke a few minutes after Raelin. He had gotten something to eat, before reading through the book of their past. While adding the last few weeks to it. He then looked up at hearing Raelin's comment. It got him to smirk. " You need my manly help in the bedroom. " Said as he set the book down, then moved to help her with the box. She fummbled with the box as she sat it to the counter, she blushed deeply, then went to go fetch another of the five boxes left outsideHe chuckled to that blush as he moved to follow after her. " Guess I was right..or would you prefer that manly help in another room?" Said as he picked up one of the boxes.

She was blushing trying to hide it with that box in her hands it did no good. That box was smaller. "I will not comment on that."She sat it down with the other. And went back again for another. "Because you know you'd like it and love it. " Box set on the counter, then followed her back out. One hand smacking her rump all the way outside. She yipped as she handed him one of the bsoes and took the last one up. "I always did before."She moved along beside him and sat the box down. "Did you enjoy your morning?" She was changing the subject. He took the box, and followed her back inside. " And you want some more of it right now. " Said as he sat the final box on the counter. " It was alright..A few people stopped by.."

"Well hopefully they will come back whent he store is open and the shelves are stocked."She ignored his comment. "Thats what these are suppiles. I found some on my walk as well. "She fished those out and sat them on the counter. He nodded lightly as he started to help her unpack the supplies. " So besides getting supplies..How was your morning?" "Fine." She was unpacking as well, taking some of those suppiles in to the work shope. Some things had to be dried, or put in satchles she coudl only put the lavender and rosemary out now. "The rain let up for a little while."

He nodded as he helped her to unpack. Popping her rump at every chance he got. Just waitting for her to catch his hand and glare at him. She glared at him as she unpacked once they were done she tookt he boexes and broke them down folding them along the wall. "Well now I have lots to do."She spyed all the suppiles, flowers, herbs, crystals, spices. All needing to be stored in just the right way. He smiled sweetly at her glares, before moving to sit down. " Have fun. " So leaving her to do the work as he sat back down

She didnt mind that he sat abck down at the table she went to placing the few thigns thats he could out, mostly the already dried herbs, the few spices that were sold alone, and the crystals and gem stones. She moved about from on thing to the next. Then back in tot he work shope to get stated. He watched her as she buzzed around the shop. " Raelin.. come here. " Called out just to bother her as she worked. She stopped in her bundling and her making of herb and spice sacthles to go over to him. "Yes?" She eyed him for a moment, her hair had sage in it. He smiled up at her, trying not to laugh up at the sage look in her hair. " Hello. "

Her brows rose at him then she fished the sage out of her hair. "Was there somehting you needed?" She knew he was reading their history and adding to it now. She wasnt going to tell him whos he ran in to nor what that person had told her. "I have lots to do Zach. If theres something you need ebside to laugh at me ask now." Her green eyes were very serious. He looked back to the book. " You..in my lap...facing me..while you tell me about your day..And no is not an acceptable answer. " Looking up to her with that serious smirk of his.

She sighed at him.She shope was clsoed after all the window shades down, the sign of clsoed in the window. The rain had come back. She could finish later.Who needed sleep right? She eased herself in to his lap but didnt face him.She only sprinkled that sage in to his hair. "I need to stock my selves Zach.I cant go with out working. And I already told you of my day " He smirked as he tossed the book on the table, then chuckled to the sage being sprinkled in his hair. " True but there is something you are hiding from me. " Looping an arm around her waist.

She watched him carefully. He always knew when she didn;t tell him soemthing. That hadnt changed so it seemed. She flet at ease there sitting on his lap side long not daring to straddle his lap and face him." I went for a walk, gathered a few things. Saw and old friend." " Oh? " Smiling as he tried to shift her to face him, as well as lean her in much closer. So they could see eye to eye. She as facing him now, nearly straddling his lapa nd blushing. It would have never bothered her before. "Yes. " She gazed in to his eyes. " Which old friend? " Trailing his fingers along ehr sides and spine. As he gazed back into her eyes.

She shivered to that touch. She enjoyed it all too much. "Jez." Would the name bring anything to light? He pondered the name for a few moments.. He seemed to recall the name. " He was there when I died...wasn't he?" "No" She shook her head. "Jez was a friend, form long ago.I am not surpised you don't recall him, youd recall his coven better." He nodded lightly, before he shook his head. " What news does he bring?" "He came here with what is left of his coven. He saw Jeardra" Said softly.

He nodded lightly, as he growled faintly to that name. " Where is she? " Fingers still caressing her back. "Not far, He saw her in the clearing the same one the guardian coven uses. Two night ago. With a fresh kill." She noted his growl. He nodded lightly. " Then perhaps she should meet me..again. " Resting his brow to her's. "No." She rested her brow to his. "You can't do that."She placed her hads on his cheeks one on each side. "She will kill you.but before all thats he will use you again as she did before.. you can not please.. "

He kissed the palms of her hands. " I plan to pay her back from what she has done to me, Raelin. " "She will put you under her magic again. Do you recall that? She did it the last time, she put you under a spell, and you tried to kill me. "She shook her head. "I will pay her back for what she did to you." He sighed softly. " Very well.." He kissed her lips softly. " Just be carefull " She returned that kiss softly. "I will be. "She lowered her hands from his face. " You better be. " A playfull little growl for her as he moved his hands down to swat at her rump.

She nodded and yipped lightly. "I promise." She slowly shifted off his lap. "Now I have to get to work." He frowned to her moving from his lap. " Oh fine.." He crossed his arms. She smiled to him. "Did you want me to stay there?" She picked the sage from his hair. He chuckled softly. " You have work to do. " Giving her stomach a poke. "So?" She smiled, "I could leave she shope clsoed till tomorrow and work tonight,I don't need to sleep." She eased back in to his lap.

" Like you would want me to sleep alone. " Teasing her as he ruffled her hair. " Though I wouldn't mind having the bed to myself. " She smirked at him. "Oh? Well mr wolf wants the bed to him self." She poked his shoulder. "You need sleep as much as I do. But yor right.I wouldnt let you be alone." He smirked to that. " This wolf has a nasty bite. " Baring his teeth and fangs at her. She smirked at him and bared her own fangs at him.She hardly ever bared them. "I don't fear your bite." " That's because you love it. " Leaning forward to nip at the tip of her nose. " A lot if I recall right."

She snickered and leaned back at the nip to her nose. "The things you recall."She shook her head at him and pressed her hand to his chest to keep him at bay. "You recall such bad things, yet can not recall old true friends.. hmm." He smiled sweetly up at her. " Maybe you can help to remind me of those old friends. " Hands moving up her back to pull her back in. She inched in and smiled looking in to his eyes. She blushed. "I would like that. "

" Or would you like to remember those bad things? " Grinning sweetly at her. "Zach."She snickered and blushed more. "I have a very good memory of those things as well." " Yet you blush more now than you did before. " He had just noticed that. That just made it worse. Her cheeks felt on fire. "I am allowed to blush. You've always been good at making me blush. "She softly placed her hand on his shoulder. "So shall I remind you of Jez and his coven?"

She leaned there smiling. "We met him and his coven many years ago,.The new world had come to apss.America, and the states there. We had taken a trip tot he south. You had told me I would love it there. And so i did. We met a few of our kind, but it seemed most were still in Europe and the old world. We met Jez and his coven .Jez was from Alabama oringinally. His coven was rather large then."

He nodded lightly as he listened to her, as it was starting to come back to mind. But he remained silent so not to interrupt. "He was very nice to us both. And we stayed there with hsi coven for a while, then returned to the Villa in Italy. "She wodnered if any bells went off. "Jez said the power of Rhydin brought him here. His coven is smalelr only one of the original members besides him si till alive."She eyed him on that. "Vampire hunters."

He scoffed to the last two words. " It seem they group our kind together. " Then a shake of his head. "Yes well now theirs only four of them. They might do well here in Rhydin. They prefeer my life style."The one survived on animals more than people, but even Raelin slipped now and again. "Jez never like Jeardra. They met,not long after we met him. When he decied to come see the old world."

He nodded lightly. " I hope they will be alright..This city is a good place to hide in. " She nodded. "Jez has awlays been good at surviving." She slid her fingers down his arms slowly. " That he has been. " Stealing a kiss to her lips. " Does he know about me?" "That your back ,well sorta of." She blushed, "He asked about you, I said you were here with me. Jez knows our... history."

She was going to say our on again off again hsitory. He smirked to that. " Told him that I am back to claim you as my own..huh?" Giving her sides a little tickle. She giggled softly. "He likely figures were on again. he said we should come and see him.I told him we might, But you do not look as you did.. your not the man he recalls." He nodded. " We can go see him when you wish it. It would do me good to see old friends. "

A slow nod to that, she fiddled with his hair. She kenw she saw the difference in his eyes and hair. Would Jez? Likely. Vampires never forgot anything. "Maybe.I'll think about it." He shook his head softly. " I am sure he will know it is me.." Taking her hands into his. " Besides..he knows that you love me..and would know it was me. " She nodded and blushed a little as he took her hands in his. "Yes I know that. I am more worried about Jeardra seeing you. But maybe once its safe we can go and see him."

He kissed the tops of her hands. " You worry to much. " She nodded. "Yes,always." She leaned back in closely to him. He moved his arms back around her, just holding her in his arms. She closed her eyes and smiled.

She sat there fr a long time then convinced him to help ehr stock the shope. He of coarse was a little devil about it smacking her int he rumb any time she passed him. But it seemed like everything came back to him.She watched him work,he put the ehrbs and spices for cooking in their bags while she focused on the magical ones. She was trying not to focus on his hands. But it was a hard thing. She had a very good memory, of thiertime together. And it seemed he had rememebred it as well. She watched him as he helped. There was magic in those hands and she kenw it well,

Soon enough by the time the moon rose the shelves were stocked. Raelin grinned at him then kissed his cheek. "See that wasn't so bad." She sprinkled some of the rosemary and sage elft on the counte in to his hair then dashed for the stairs snickering.

Raelin

Date: 2009-11-03 23:33 EST
The following morning, after Zach had chased Raelin upstairs. Where he had traped her on th ebed, and tickled her without mercy for a few hours, before the two fell asleep. At the present moment, he was laying on his side as he watched her sleeping, all curled up as she faced him. She was sleeping soundly, all curled up ebside him.The light had not yet drifted through the high window. Yet some how her eyes opened. She smiled at him watching her. "Having fun?"

" Perhaps. " Giving her side a poke, before he slipped off the bed. Wearing just his pants as she had stolen his shirt the moment he took it off.. A habit she done ever since they first were together. She lay in bed watching him.yes she'd stolen his shirt and slipped it over her arms unbuttoned over her own night dress. It smelt like him and she enjoyed that. She sat up and shrugged the shirt off and set it at the foot of the bed before she rose too. Time for breakfast.

He looked over his shoulder to her, and just shook his head lightly He then moved to change clothes..Taking his time as he knew she was watching..Even if she denyied it all the time She would keep denying it too. She looked back slightly over her shoulder. before fishing out the makings for breakfast fromt he fridge and cabnets. She blushed sfoftly as she got the pan down to fix up the eggs. He had never stayed, long ago. He would have been gone by now,but that was in the past. So it seemed.
Once dressed he walked by her with a slap to her rump, as he tossed his clothes in the hamper.

" Stop undressing with your eyes and mind.. I can hear you panting. " Teasing her as he moved to sit down. She yipped as she scrambled the eggs. "I am not undressing you with my eyes. And I do not pant." She fixed him a plate and sat it tot he table. Then sat hers down as wellbebfore fishing her stashed blood from the fridge she poured some ina mug warmed it with a touch of magic and drank it all ebfore sitting down to eat those eggs.

He smirked to that. " You do so pant if I recall.. " Winking at her before he started to eat those eggs. The shope would be open today witht he sleves fully stocked.Raelin was glad for that. She needed the stedy stream of customers. Most these days were becoming regulars. She eyed him over her plate. He was recalling things more and more. She just ate. He smiled at her to her just being quiet. " I could go tell the coven members...about us. " Winking at her.

"Don't you dare."She shot him a dark look. "Its none of thier business." She finished off her food and sat the late and her mug in the sink. Then she went to go fetch her clothes. He smirked as he finished off his food, and took the plate to the sink. " You know better than to dare me. " And he shot off downstairs She glared at him.She wasn't even dressed yet. That she fixed as she ran after him, a swril of magic changed her in to her clothes and shoes for the day something warm enough for the weather. "You come back here."Chase.

When she caught up to him, he had already openned the store for her..But he was leaning on the wall out of the way She stopped there at the door as it was already open. She eyed him elaning out of the way. "Your very bad."It was stillr ather early no one about yet. She idly fixed her hair as she looked outside. The sun was up now. The city would wake soon. "I usually like to prepare for my day rather than swirl in to it."She muttered and went behind the counter.

" Oh stop whinning and get to work. " Snapping his fingers at her. He knew she'd find some way to get him back later. Yes she would. Soon enough there were customers coming in for herbs and spices. She found herself very busy.Al lthe way until lunch time. She always took a little break around 1.The day was a huge blur. She must have said merry meet and blessed be 1,000 times. He helped out with helping people find what they were looking for, while greeting them while they entered the shop. One or two he had to toss out for causing trouble..So he served as her bouncer as well

Raelin smirked softly thinking over the day so far as she fixed them both lunch the door was closed and the sign'out for lunch' was desplayed in the window. She sat the plate down before him. " Thanks. " Winking at her before he started to eat slowly. " Woof woof. " Teasing her with that

Her brows rose at him. She shook her head.He had a very nice plate of food ebfore him.But she could have given him dog food. She had a small plate of food and another mug of blood, plus a cup of tea. "Woof to you." She took a bite. Snap of teeth at her. " Carefull..I might just bite you. " Winking as he continued to eat slowly. She snickered at him as she took a sip of tea. "I'll bite you back." Flashing him a smirk. Then going back to eating. Her eyes would wander back to him though. " And I'll tie you to the counter top..and let your friends watch as I have my way with you..Slowly..and all day. " Winking with a lick of lips.

Her brows rose at him as she sipped her mug of blood. That would be a threat he would make good on. So she did't push it she just ate her lunch. He smirked to seeing her not saying a word in return. " No denying you would like that. " Pushing the button on that one. "I would not deny it. " She rose and washed her plate ,mug and cup off. She looked back at him shaking her head before ehading for the work shope door.Time to reopen.

He smirked as he took his plate to the sink, then moved back to his post. After leaning to her ear. " Then remind me to do that at the next meeting. " She flushed deep red just in time to open the door. She hoped that none of the coven mebers would stop by. She bit at her lips for the next hour. While helping the customers. Then the soft wind chime voice drew her attention there stood Chry of the coven. And outside through the window Raelin could see her guardian Adresin Halafarin.

" Well hello..How may I help you? " He winked and purred to Chry, once she stepping inside. Zach being his usual flirting self. Luck was not on her side. Chry came in smiling. The elf was not too short nor too tall. Her hair was that lovely yet odd shade of sea green, her eyes were warm and brown and she wore elvin clothes of pink and purple. She smiled at Zach and Raelin gripped the counter top. "Hello there Zach."Chry greeted him with that wind chimmy voice. " I am here for a few things. "

" And what are those things? " He saw Raelin gripping the counter, befoe he lifted Chry's hand up for a kiss. " I'll help you in any way I can. " Raelin detached herself from the counter and bowed her head to Chry. Trying not to fume. "Greetings Chry. What were you looking for?"Chry smiled to Raelin and smiled kindly to Zach. " just some herbs for Divination."That to them both. raelin was already moving to the table, to take up the satchle marked Divination, It had Dandelion, and Ground Ivy inside it.

He smiled sweetly to Raelin, before looking back to Chry. " She is such a hard worker..Isn;t she? " Yeah..a shameless flirt. Chry smiled softly. Raelin looked out the window at her guardian waiting like a statue looking innow and again.. "Adresin looks a bit tense this afternoon." Raelin noted softly.Chry smirked softly at Zach then took the sacthle from Raelin. "yes she is a hard worker. And yes he is tense. The coven is meeting to try and do a few things. You should come. Both of you."

" It will be a pleasure to accept your invitation. " Another kiss to the top of Chry's hand..A longer one just to get Raelin fuming even more Raelin was busy rining Chry up. "What sort of things?" The elf winked at Zach once and flashed her wedding ring then went to pay. "We are going to try to bring Salis back, to his human form. Its one of the things we do for the guardians who can not change... Salis has been trapped in the shape of an owl for 3,000 years."Raelin fummed a little. She knew the lovely elf was married to her guardian. But it didnt help any, she accepted Chrys payment. Listening. "3,000 years.."

He smiled to seeing that ring. " We will help in any way we can. " He moved back to his leaning post. "Yes, Acacia has been trying for a long time to break the spell. Salis had always been a shape shifter, born that way. But one day after they had been together for a long time many years, he didnt come home.Acacia worried for a long time until an owl came to her.. she knew who it was.. and ever since then shes been trying to change him back."She smiled to Zach. "I hope we will see you there, we will be at Acacia's home its just west of the clearing. "She took her satchel.

"We shall be there."Raelin nodded He nodded to that. " Perhaps my..rebirth might shed some light onto what happened to him. " Seeing how he was in a sense a shapeshifter. Chry nodded. "Perhaps. see you then."The elf made her way out to her guardian and they wlaked away in to the market. Raelin tapped her foot twice then shook her head.

He slowly watched her walk out. " She's got a nice shake to her hips. " Smiling as he looked back to Raelin

Raelin scowed at him. "Your lucky Adresin Halafarin did not come in and cut you in to small peices. For flirting so with his wife. And shes elven everythigng she does is beautiful." He smirked to that as he slowly walked towards her. " My my.. You are jealous..Very jealous. "

She shook her head at him. "I am not." She tilled the coins in her hand. "I just dont want any fights in my store." " You are jealous. " Said as he moved around the counter to her. " And you can't lie about it. " Now taking a lean beside her She looked up at him. "And you are a shameless flirt. "She moved around him and through the break towards the door.

" You always loved that about me. " Said as he turned to watch her. " But I do love the shake of your hips better." She stopped mid step and flushed. She did love that about him. And he always knew how to smooth things over with her. She peered out the door. She should clsoe early and get ready for the coven meeting, shed need to shower and change so she closed the door, put the clsoed sign up in the window and locked the dead bolt on the door. Then still blushing she headed back through the break int he counter past him, towards the work shop

He grinned to that stutter step, then turned. Aimming to catch her off guard and bend ehr over the counter. Which would allow him to spank her rump.. She slipped past him just barely. "Oh no.."She saw that coming. "You behave."She darted throught he work shop door and up the steps.

He grinned as he took off after her. " Get back here!" She snickered allt he way up stairs. "No" she called back. "Your turn to chase me. " He smirked to that, as he follow her up the stairs She smirked as she was fishing out something to wear from her dresser when he came in. "Slow poke."

He crossed his arms to that. " I'll catch you..when you least expect it. " She grinned at him. Then with her clothes folded over her arm she walked to him leane dup and kissed his cheek. "I am sure you will. "Then she slid off for the bathroom. " That I will. " He smirked as he moved back downstairs to wait

She took her dear sweet time. What was it about men. They never seemed to need tos hower or change to go most any where. Zaos had always been that way.Always ready ina ncie suit, and smelling wodnerful. She had to work at it. Once she was showered and changed in to somehting more coven emetingish. She headed down stairs. Zach was waiting sitting at the front table looking bored. Raelin had chosen a knee lenght jade green dress and black jacket. Her shoes were also black as was the small purse at her side. Her hair was up which she knew he wouldnt like.

She crossed to him. "All right I am ready. " She walked to the door and unlocked it and let him step out first then followed him. It would be a long walk to the meeting place. She wondered what if anytThen locked up ebhind them. They had a long walk ahead of them she wondered what if anything they would talk about.

The house was nestled in the woods. One would never had known it was there.Hidden by the trees and long growing vines of morning glory. It was more a cottage than a house. Not small ,nor very large. Raelin coudl see the glow from candles inside. She led the way down the path way to the door. She rose her hand to know but some one was already there. It was Kan, Selens guardian and lover. He stood taller than the last time Raelin recalled seeing him. Then she noted his eyes yellow with pupils like a cats. He smiled tot hem both and ushered them in.

The room was filled with candles, white and green, and tan. There was the smell of burning herbs. And the faces of friends. Angelica stood beside Hermes their ahnds locked together.Damaina was seated ont he floor with Dylan next to ehr, her fingers ran through his thick black fur. Jasmine detached her self from Jet who was also laying on the floor a big black wolf. "Raelin." Jasmine hugged her. "And Zach you came oh good."

"Jasmine," Selen called and Jasmine blushed and pulled away. Selen noodded to them both. "I see Chry gave you the invite.I am glad your both here. Now things can truly start. " Raelin noted how the center of the room wasbare allt he funiture was pushed away, and in a circle drawn on the floor sat Acacia with Salis, the owl perched beside her.

Raelin now noted every coven members had her guardaian beside them. This must have been a big deal. Then suddenly every woman tooka step away from their guardian and took a palce around the circle. Chry held her hand out to Raelin. "Please come join us." Raelin walked away form Zach, see the other men or beasts were standing aside, their heads bowed. Raelin took Chrys ahnd and joined the circle.

Raelin wasnt sure what to expect. There wasa low chant going throught he circle,it was in latin. Raelin didn't know it but she knew enough latin to know what was being said. 'We here, call to the powers of change. The time has come to bring this being back.To return him to his true form. ' The chant went on a low hum Raelin joined in.

Acacia sat there with Salis still in owl form perched upon the floor. Raelin could see that her eyes were closed about out the circle pulsed a light.A power. Raelin felt it jump in to ehr then go through ehr hands,it went around to every coven meber. She saw the coven guardains shudder. The hakcles on Jets back rose, Arlen hissed low a long ad did Ebon. Amosil let out a loud cry and Dylan was growling lowly.

The men seemed no less tesne then the beasts. Hermes sat on the back of the couch his eyes watching Angelica. Adresin's head was bowed he was chanting in elvish.A prayer perhaps. Shonassir fluttered about the room trying not to get too clsoe tot he cirlce but his eyes were always on Holly. Kan leaned near Adresin his ehad also bowed the same words flowing from his mouth.Ardul had his hood lowered, and now was the first time Raelin could see.Even for a drow, though he was fierce he was handsome. But his red eyes were intesnely on Cara.

Ivan was following the chant, sayig it hims elf his ahnds clasped behind his back. The tension did not show in his body as it ahd with most of the shapeshifters, but it shown in his eyes as it did with most of the immortals. Myriil,Saevel and Quinn all sat on the couch. Eachs eyes for their mate. Raelin could see Saevels fair wings. As well as Quinn's angelic ones the magic in the room was bringing them out. Myriil was toyng witha little yellow flame in his hands.

Then there was a sudden morw powerful pulse that pushed each woman back form the circle. Raelin saw Hermes catch Angelica and Kan caught Selen. It seemed thsoe who could catch their witch did so and thsoe that could not, went to their side on the floor. Raelin was not surpised that Zach had his arms around her.

And there sitting int he center of the circle was Acaica and Salis. It ahd worked. He had returned to his human form. He was a tall man, even while sitting.Acacia was in his arms. His ahir was white as snow. And when he opened his eyes to regard the others Ralein saw that they were large and yellow.Still much like and owls eyes. He moved slowly to standing with Acaucas hand in his. "I do not know how to thank you all."His voice was deep and some how carried a wisdom with it.Though his hair made him look older and Ralein knew he was many centruies old he didn't really look it.

Acacia smiled and looked to all her coven memebers. "My friends ,my sisters. I can not thank you enough." Raelin smiled and watched as each member gave Acaica a hug or showed that they were happy to do so in their own way. Raelin hugged Acacia as well.

A little while later still at the cottage the furniture had been returned to its palce, and they all ahd enjoyed a meal and now each pair was leaving.Saying their goodbyes. Acacia was smiling her hand never left Salis's. Raelin and Zach were the last to leave.

"Thank you again Raelin, you have no idea what this means to me." Raelin smiled. "Oh but I do,"she glanced to Zach. Stoic as always. Acacia smirked and hugged them botht hen bid them good night.

Raein setpped out and took Zachs hand in hers for a moment. She could stillf ee the power of the night pulsing through her, and she wondered if he could feel it too. It had been amazing the power of the coven. The way Salis was retuned to his human form. Raelin had seen it happen, it was slowyet sudden all att he same time. She had seen his form take chape ,from owl to human.

He had been that was for 3,000 years yet his love for Acacia had not changed. Raelin wondered how long the others who were trapped in their aniaml form had been that way. She glanced again to Zach. Could she live for 3,000 years with out him? She had been barely able to last a week when he had died. But the guardians trapped in aniaml form were not dead just trapped. Could she do that? She stopped int heir slow walk back home. She gazed to him and saw that look he gave her some where bewteen question and devious as if he had heard her thoughts.

She inched up on to her toes and kissed him once. Letting herself sink in to it for a long moment before breaking it. She was sure hed eye her oddly but smirk. She took his hand again and led them home.
