I'd just like to mention for the record that Undertown is in no way, shape, or form mine; I got the concept from LL, with her entry in the Rhydin Wiki here, and her thread "Going Under". Certain characters, like Siegfried (although not Maria, Sylvia, or Rambling Jack) originate there, as well. I did ask for permission before I used it, though. ^_^ Thanks, L!

I have no idea if "Everyone's looking for a piece of their own peace of mind" really is a song lyric or not. Sounds like one, doesn't it?

Oh! And I wanted to add that I totally <3 Bowels of the City~! ;) It makes me all sorts of happy and warm inside you've used Undertown in it. It's fabulous work, really. You've really captured the essence of it in your own unique way without compromising the original vision and intent.

:oops: Thank you. I'm really glad that you approve... I hope nothing in future parts makes you change your mind. Not that I think anything will, but... ::fizzle::

Thank you. ^_^

Well, that's Part 3 wrapped up. I really hadn't planned on this thing being quite so long... but they do have a tendency to grow on you, once you get down into it.

With luck, Part 4 will be quicker. It will definitely involve more ACTION!, and Paladin should make a better showing of himself than he did last time he encountered the... slime... thing... creature. Whatever the hell it is.

Thanks for all your patience, guys! :D

Two things I've really liked in Bowels of the City so far (other than your fantastic prose):

The image of the slowly digested kids stuck in the creature, like they've gotten caught in some giant jello mold. That there is effed up - just the way I like it.

AND the Flynn LOVE/HATE thing. That's a nice writerly touch.

Well done. Bring on the action.

Thanks, guys. :) I'm really glad to see BotC so well received. ^_^

I picture part four being in three parts, the first of which has been posted; the second has been written, but needs some revisions and typing, and the third should be along shortly. Thanks again for everyone's patience and kind words!

Your writing skills are downright awesome & that vile creature is simply divine! :twisted:

Well done! More please.....

Hello!

I just wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying your writings in the WestEnd. They are so wonderful! The imagery is fantastic! You help the district live and breathe with what you put out. Thank you!!

I love the fact you've utilized some of the shared Local Color I've put out there, and I love even more that you've added some of your own. Your tellings rock!!

And, yes, "Bowels of the City" kicks frellin' arse!!

And so it ends. ::flop::

Thank you, everyone, for sticking through to the end; I hope I've not disappointed anyone's high hopes. Thank you, profusely, for your comments, your support, and your positive feedback. L, Sid, thank you for the concepts that I've borrowed, and I hope I've done them justice.

This marks the conclusion of The Bowels of the City, the longest story I've ever actually completed. :shock: I've done longer for NaNoWriMo, but actually working in that ~Fin~, that's a new one for me. So thank you, once again, and I hope you'll find my next offering - when I figure out what it will be - just as enjoyable. :D

Moving forward on Kacilla Lynne's 'Circumstantial Evidence' SL with a a violent piece over in her folder. Warning for the sensitive, the tone is a bit dark and Paladin sings Sweeney Todd songs. But nobody gets baked into a pie, so that's about as far as that goes.

I've been gone myself for a bit. But, I wanted to say that the description you wrote of the WestEnd is dead frellin' brilliant!! I love it!! I'm so glad my little playground has inspired and amused and brought in such wonderful players such as yourself.

Stop! Limerick Time!

Now, it is of Paladin we speak,
A warrior rival the Greek.
With style, and class,
Manners, jokes, and finesse,
Or interests he doth always pique.

So... about a week later than I planned, but "The Echoes of Absence" is finally up. x_x I'm pretty much finished with the story, but I've left the thread open in case anyone else would like to post a reaction to Paladin's disappearance; this should, in no way shape or form, be taken as an obligation or an expectation to do so, I just thought it would be a nifty thing.

Starting... soon(ish?)... I've got another serial planned, something the size of "Bowels of the City" or a little longer. Yes, this one will actually have Paladin in it. This is not vapor. There are dedicated people with large blunt objects keeping me honest.

Thanks, as always, for reading, and I hope you enjoy.

I'm still alive, if anyone's worried, and I haven't left again. :) Just got back in after a week out to sea - out again, soon, but I hope to have the next installment of Twilight Exile up before I go. It's coming along slower than I'd like, but it shouldn't be too much longer.

And if anyone saw the 'new post' icon in Wanderer's Path and thought that's what this was, then I'm terribly sorry.

Last Knight

So, new Twilight Exile up... yay. ::flops:: My deadline is completely out the window for this - I'd thought, originally, that I would be wrapping up at the end of August, and here we are halfway through the month... and not even halfway through the story. Ugh... if I don't get things in gear, then it'll be December before Paladin makes it home. =/

Also, I've gone through and put in speech colors for Paladin and Anastasia, to make reading that much easier. Cheers.

A couple of quick notes on quotes I've used in the latest post:

"In a mad world, only the mad are sane." = Akira Kurosawa
"Why, this is Hell, nor are we out of it..." = Mephistopheles in Kit Marlow's "Faust"
"First there is a mountain..." is a horribly catchy song by Donovan. Link is to a YouTube video for the song, for the edification of the curious, and to annoy Kacey-mun. :)

As always, hope you enjoyed the update.

So, out of curiousity, I did a comparison on the lengths of "Bowels of the City" and "Twilight Exile"...

BotC = 13,572 (completed)
TE = 16,374 (>halfway finished)

...which puts me a little over my original intended goal of 30,000 words for the completed story. I'm running behind - I'd originally planned to be finished before the end of August, doing the whole thing in a NaNoWriMo-like sprint, but obviously that hasn't happened.

New plan is to be finished before November. :D Wish me luck!

tl;dr = Long story is loooooong! Also, updated.

...so, obviously, fail on the finish before November. New goal: Finish before the new year! Huzzah!
