The Timelord was a woman of infinite patience and instant action alike. It was a long honed skill, to be able to calmly manage even the most hysterical of situations, and then, when there was a balance point, to tip it with skill and precision.

It was oft forgotten, what she was, who she was. What she could do. Usually, she was running odd grifter's games, historical Impossible Missions, and given carte blanche for personnel and supplies. Other times, she was plying her skills in negotiation, and sometimes, trying out her sniper's eye.

This time...

Any event that came before her was as important as the next. She saw honor when asked by particularly an innocent for help, for advice, for just a friendly ear. Particularly in those things, when it was a given that much of what she was required to do in the course of maintaining the purity of the timeline was not honorable.

That night, something that hadn't occurred in many years, if not decades: She spoke in the tongue of the Dragons, awakening dormant forces and setting them ablaze with the fires of inspiration, harmony, and purification. The very Spirits which she Sang to arose in a thunder of Purpose.

A powerful command over her words and energies alike, the delicate seeming of the albino Mariner wrought a sudden Work upon the RhyDin slums. Old asphalt shattered and churned to earth, concrete chunks flowed and poured, shaping itself into a little gazebo. A long rusted water pipe formed into a stone fountain, where fresh water poured. An old gas pipe remade itself into a small eternal flame.

Climbers, roses and ivy, twined from the earth as it greened with grass and moss. Finally, a willow materialized near by. A small cabinet appeared: a safe drop off spot for infants. It was a place of safety and purification. In all, it was a little shrine dedicated to a demi-god of orphans.

A kind-faced dryad by the name of Daphne attended the shrine, usually invisible. She was there to tend to any children needing assistance, to help them to orphanages or to simply provide food and clothing. She saw that the babies dropped off were tended and sent on to local hospitals. She provided safety and peace in the tiny drop of kind Nature in the filthy slums.
