Having your accomplishments spoken about is one thing..

It's pretty obvious her parents were hoping for a boy and she's had to carry that burden around all her life.

Can we please start calling her the raging lesbian?

Sexuality is another.

King wasn?t exactly thrilled when she heard those words over the RhyDin Rewind podcast.

It was a show she started listening to in the morning while doing her school work. Mostly it was background noise so she wouldn?t get too bored staring at a book for a few hours -- but that day it became something more. Normally Harris and Seirichi spoke of things going on around the city, among other things, and King never was really interested - but whenever the subject of dueling came up, the teen found herself listening more instead of studying..

When she heard her own name as number five on that list? She couldn?t help but be all smiles.. at least until she heard those two sentences. Harris? words were easily taken as a joke, but there was some small twinge of hurt felt.. but it was nothing compared to what came next. King might not seem like the type who hid her sexuality, but her business was her own. Many at her school knew of her orientation -- and maybe a few at the duels who really paid attention.. but she never went around announcing that she was a lesbian out loud.

There were reasons. Unneeded attention was one of them. While it was humorous to see reactions from others to a simple kiss to another girls lips, it wasn?t as if they knew who she was. She was just some face in the crowd without a name. Possibly forgotten after a few days. But this.. This was connected to her name. The name she had started to make in the dueling scene.

?.. It?s not like anyone listens to this sh*t anyway..? She told herself.

But stepping out of the Cardinal Inn to see Franklin trying his best to scrub away graffiti the next day proved her wrong. He told her to stay inside the second he saw her walk through those doors, but she couldn?t do that. She saw the look of worry on his face and that was enough to have her do the opposite of his request. She stepped closer, then back when she couldn?t make out fully what was written.

DYKE BARONESS. Spray painted along the front of the inn.

?.. You shouldn?t have to see this..? Franklin said.

King couldn?t respond. All she did was clench her teeth and run inside.

Over and over, it kept repeating over in her mind. It was not her place to judge. After all, she knew it before most who even dared to speak of it now did. And yet, walls did eventually fall. Barriers broke and allowed for the attack to begin...someone was being attacked right now. Someone important to her.

"...You totally heard right? They're calling her these things on the radio...people are beginning to talk. "

Her head turned upwards, looking from behind her shoulder as the door was opened from her roomate's side.

"Yeah, King. Who would have thought? I mean, you kind of got the idea that she was but....I mean...to hear it outright said? " These words were sheltered within a giggle.

"Who started it? " Asks one girl.
"One of the radio hosts on that show, you know the pretty one: Seirichi. "

Seirichi. She heard the name before. It also wasn't the first time she'd defamed King's name either. And yet, to think that she had said these things. Was it the truth? Did she really? Her mouth opened, and then she swallowed back as she glanced up at her roomate. She was about to say something to calm her down, but Anya didn't give her that chance. She saw her hand reaching for her body but the blonde was already out of reach and rushing down the hallway. She had to find her...she had to see her, despite the calls to return Anya wasn't stopping now.
....She stood in front of the establishment, her eyes welling up some as she glanced to the sign before herself. "Dyke Baroness" they called her. Anya wasn't stupid. She knew good and well she couldn't find whomever dared to deface King's place, but she knew who she could find. Taking a breath, the Russian turned on her sneakers and walked the way she came. She didn't need to knock, because she would have only tried to stop her from doing what she had in mind next.

"...Anya knew ring ideas stupid. No more rings. No more rules. " Growled the teen as she stalked down the road, clenching her small fists and punching them together with a resounding crack. Her lips could only remain tight from the rage she wanted to release....
