The days turned into nights and back again. Doctor Ryan Wilson hated being on call, but the joys of being a Shrink in a town with lack thereof, made it seem like he was constantly working. The good news was the money allowed him certain things, extras for himself and of course Mindy.
He sighed, every night he would have to send a text, telling her again that he would be late, and the nights that he would actually get there to be with her, it seemed that it was time to jump and run to work again. He would call her, or she would call him, and that's how their relationship had been running for quite some time. As a doctor, he knew it wasn't healthy for either of them.
On his way home that night, he stopped by the only florist in town that was still open, he ordered a dozen red, and a dozen pink roses to be delivered to her at work, he filled out the card saying simply what he planned.
"Me, you, red wine, cinnamon and candles, my place, I took the week off. With everything I am, Ryan."
He smiled as he sealed the envelope and paid for the flowers. A few more stops were made on the way home, and he hoped that she would accept the time. No phones, no faxes, just the two of them, alone and catching up on lost time.
